Hello XDA,
Anyone had a look at the new Suzuki head units? They are based on a Bosch flavor of Linux (http://oss.bosch-cm.com/suzuki.html) and support Apple Carplay and MirrorLink. For the moment no word of Android Auto.
Since there are still a couple of months until I will get my car I am trying to figure out if any of the developers here had already looked into this system and can share more in depth info.
I have been looking extensively into this system. From what I can tell is that, there are some makes and models of phone based on a particular linux version that can connect. I am not having any luck with my Ubuntu device. I have heard people running CM 12 with success. The list of devices it supports is quite limited to Samsung. The website says it runs 5.1.1 android in the mirror link App. I am running 6.0.1 so not too sure. I have had no luck connecting to mirror link at all. I may have to try running custom CM 12.1 but not sure if I want to change roms yet, or if that is avaiable. I have also tried on the Samsung 2014 note, with no luck it is running 4.4.2 I may try and upgrade to CM 12 but again not sure. How about you?
---------- Post added at 03:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:36 AM ----------
The main thing is that when you insert a standard USB in the main menu it says connected, but when you connect a phone in mtp, ptpt or charging with a variety of phone settings it does not recognise it at all. Any thoughts?
I'm using Oneplus3 , but unfortunately Suzuki Vitara only support MirrorLink and Carplay..
Just tried in our Suzuki Baleno.
Mirrorlink is working with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S8.
Would be nice if we could find a way to hack the firmware like the firmware from Pioneer, ok this is just an iGO hack but it would be cool if we could boot into recovery or something.
Maybe someone will find a way to open up the Suzuki SLDA.

And in this video it is build for the Ignis, not for all other cars. Not clear if Baleno and the others get this update....

Suzuki ignis 2017 infotainment sdla
Hi
I ordered an Suz ignis model Select without navigation, but it can be installed afterwards, it needs only the software.
Is it possible to install an other navigation instead of that from Suz.
I've just got a newsletter from my local Suzuki dealer with a list over new accessories for newer Suzuki models.
There's listed a new Android based navigation unit for Ignis, Baleno and Celerio!
Anyone got more info on this? And/or if it's an software or hardware upgrade?
Here's a link, (in Danish ?)
Page 6.
http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/4240a2a9#/4240a2a9/6
To me it looks more like an upgrade for the cheapest models which do not have an infotainment system yet.
It is the same unit as in the select intro and style intro hier in holland as introduction of the ignis.
Not intro models have the Bosch-software:crying:
Hello,

I was thinking maybe try and update my head-unit.
I have a European one.
EDIT: No luck.
Maybe someone more familiar with Linux can do something about it.
It look different from the 850 SLDA update
I am no Developer.
But since the new headunit is same as the old one.
Android Auto is supported in the new one, cant we just extract the software from the new device and use it in the new one.
I look your file, but, for me upgrade will be provide by Suzuki ?

Yes. Just Suzuki will be provided upgrade.
I asked Bosch to share it and there is Bosch answer:
There is different versions of the multimedia system on the market, and Suzuki decides market-specific which version with which software release is offered. Furthermore, Suzuki wants to keep the customer communication with Suzuki.
I can only recommend to ask your local Suzuki dealer for a central hotline contact that should be able to help.

I welcome everybody to the thread about the upgraded ZP980.
ZP980 vs ZP980+
The + version is supposed to be the exact same hardware as the ZP980, only with double the internal memory and RAM.
Why a separate thread for this variation?
Many people have pointed out that this model is basically the same as the ZP980 except for the size of the RAM and the internal storage (2GB vs 1GB and 32GB vs 16GB respectively).
The discussion is still going on in the ZP980 thread. Until it is 100% confirmed that everything works exactly the same for both phones, I am planning to keep this thread. Except if XDA decides differently of course.
In any event, this thread was not created to compete with the ZP980 thread. Personally I follow that one too and participate in the discussion. This thread here only exists as a point of reference for confirmed methods, tricks, ROMs and recoveries for the ZP980+.
Can I try ROMs and other stuff I find in the thread for the standard ZP980?
I would say yes, with some caution.
In case you try something that works or -even more important- something that does not work, please be kind and share with us in this thread. This way you are helping the community take the most out this excellent piece of hardware and avoid mistakes.
Phone specs:
5" screen
FHD Super Retina Display 1920*1080 pixels, 441PPI, OGS
CPU MTK6589T - 1.5Ghz
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage
13-megapixel rear camera
Android 4.2 out of the box
2G: GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G: HSPA 850/2100 MHz
Battery:Li-Polymer, 2000mAh
Dimensions: 143.3 x 70 x 8.5mm
Weight: 150g
IF YOUR PHONE DOES NOT HAVE THESE EXACT SPECS, PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU READ IN THIS THREAD.
Confirmed Root Methods
1. Framaroot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276 (first reported by Jan1959)
Note: it is possible that after upgrading to the latest version Framaroot does not work any more.
2. Eroot has worked for some users.
Credits go to the people who developed all the stuff that I mention in this post and to the people who pointed them out to me to include them here.
I repeat:

My ZP980+ is waiting for me in Greece. I'll have it in a couple of weeks since I live in Switzerland.
But I couldn't wait to open this thread and prepare for what I need to do.
Has anybody already received it?
Did you manage to root it?
I managed rooting it via ERoot. I learnt that this is the only possibility to get rooted new zopo generation. Would be glad if there were another also working with linux. But as far as I know, there has not been any yet.
Dimitris, will you keep 1st post of this thread actual? It would be useful, if any custom ROM fully compatible with this model were linked in this opening thread as well as root tools and other useful tooling.

I am planning to keep the 1st post up to date IF nobody else offers to do it (I am sure XDA can change the poster of the OP if we ask them to, I have seen it done in other forums).
I only started this thread because I wanted to make a clear distinction and avoid bricking my device (selfish me) and also help others avoid bricking their devices.
I will add in the OP any useful piece of information that I see posted in the thread, starting with Framaroot (by Jan1959) and ERoot (by you) will follow if you explain a bit more (either describe what you did or provide a link as Jan1959 did ).

I seems to be logical that it works, because I do not know a root method which works on zp980h, but does not on c2 platinum. C2 platinum can be found in compatibility list. It is the 1st model of the higher zopo generation.

This referred to Dimitris' allusion, that zp980h is not part of the compatibility list. I mean that older root methods (i. e. motorola apk exploit and so on) do not work any more with newer zopo devices. 1st of these devices is c2 platinum. Up to now, I have known only eRoot which is able to root it and zp980h. If framaroot works with this, it should also work with zp980h.
going to follow this, ordered mine 21/08 on mixeshop for shipment to belgium.
Hope it's on his way because they say 5 to 7 days and the 5 day is today and status is still processing but i read that chinese shops don't put a lot of effort on status changes, maybe anyone experience with this shop?
I used eroot and manage to root with one click without problems. win7 have installed all the necessary drivers automatic.
Poslano sa mog ZP980 koristeći Tapatalk 4
I had problems with eroot and the drivers on Win7.
But the method from the OP (Framaroot) worked for me great.
Just copied the file, installed the app. After that just opened, selected SuperSU and Boromir exploit). After that reboot and I have now root (already eliminated this annoying bootsound)
Thanks for the tip!

I have rooted with framaroot, everything was ok. After that I have OTA updated with the latest update and now all the google apps are force closing. Therefore I want to revert back to Stock ROM and after it OTA update (an thereafter root again).
What do I need for that? Should I try at first simple factory reset?

Excellent! I've got Xiaomi Mi Bunny Watch Q - and struggling with it's firmware - already managed to edit MCC/MNC and activate it outside mainland China with ANY cellular operator (with 2G support)
But still have some problems - biggest is Chinese time on watch screen. Less important are Chinese voice prompts ("calling to grandmother" / "father is calling to you" / "successful internet connection")
My fullflash is attachment! If you can - please share your tool with me - would like to sniff through my firmware and try to modify it

I hope OP is still reading this thread. In any case I will tag oxatools. I found out my DZ09 watch is SPD. I see mocor and spd6531 to be exact. How? when I plug it in turned on, there is a third option - pc connecting. The other 2 options were udisk and charging. When I click pc connecting there was a pop up that said it needs to install serial scsi drivers. And then finally I see ports in device manager. they are
SPRD SMCC AT interface1 com4
SPRD SMCC AT interface2 com7
SPRD DIAG com3
I have been using the flash tool for this smartwatch but nothing is happening. Can you tell me how to use your tool for this watch? I would like to see if it has wifi or gps and also add video capability and voice commands. Yeah sure. But you never know your tool might do all those in this $10 watch. LOL.
This is the third thread I posted this on. All I need is guidance what is the proper tool to use for this SPRD watch?
This is what I see on *#3646633#
software platform version - mocor_12c
HW version - sc6531_bar
chip type - sc6531
actually there is a lot of list option on this code. I see
IQ mode
Para set
App set
Like over 10 option list and when you click those options theres a lot of sub menus too.

Hello! Thank you for responding. I replaced the main menu icons in "resources", I will be grateful if you embed them in the firmware. But it would be more interesting and useful to change the translation of some menu items, because the translated names simply do not fit on the screen and it is not clear what you do when you click. Is it possible to carry out such a thing?

Hi,
I'm interested in adding Hebrew fonts to Q50 (G36S) watch so that it can display messages I send in Hebrew.
Is it possible?
Hi,
Sharing these tools which were kindly shared on the Joying Forums (STT / STT-TEC) firmware for upgrading/recovering PX5 SOMs using the SDCARD create tool. On review, the zip contains additional tools to customise, create, unpack, repack firmware.
These tools may be of a breakthrough to both recovery and customising PX5 Firmware - the SDCARD create tool may be able to recover corrupt/bootlooping PX5 units without hardware mods, as the PX3 version results in a black screen when trying.
Note: change [config.ini] to Selected=2 to force english.
[Language]
Kinds=2
Selected=2
LangPath=Language\
Note Joying PX5s are STT and not HCT, the SOMs may be similar but the MCU code/comms may be different. e.g. Joying doesnt use MTC style apps, but this may be similar - unknown. Also note that the Joying MCU is different in terms of the filename/structure, but probably the very same hardware. If someone has one of these Joying PX5 units, would appreciate any info such as PX5 SOM module PICs, MCU pics/type, mainboard Pics. I havent attempted to flash a Joying MCU and Px5 update over my HCT as probably nothing to gain.
Download HERE
Note - Make your own OTG cable from a USB cable and two resistors!.
This indeed looks very promising. In fact if I understand properly it's able to create the directory structure on an SD card to recover even from completely busted ROM content.
It basically turns an update.img into sdupdate.img which can be flashed from an sdcard. I currently can only assume that the PX5 SoM respectively Rockchip boot process checks if certain files exist on any attached file system and if they do it will start recovery. Just like almost any mobile phone or ARM based hardware like routers, access points or similar I ever recovered.
Given this it will be a matter of time to figure out how to recovery-flash Android 8 on PX5 SoM. I started to have a look at what is available but the Android 8 ROM found in some file shares seems to be an OTA image and not a recovery image. Using those tools and tools like the included AFPTool (or 3rd party imgRePackerRK) it might be possible to build a recovery image. Although I am not sure if the OTA image even contains all required files. Probably not. The system image perhaps only contains updated files and might be incomplete.
Also the fact that this Android 8 image is an OTA image yields the question who is providing OTA images for PX5 units. At least I am not aware about any manufacturer distributing OTA updates.
The tools you provided also includes an interesting utility: RKOsConfig.exe
Unfortunately it's all in Chinese only but some items are obvious. It looks like a tool to pre-configure the Android ROM for specific device. Allowing to set DPI, system language, time zone, video decoder, USB and UART type and specifically also the screen type where there are 2 presets in lcdlist.ini for 1024x600 and 800x480 screens.
The toolset also contains a command-line tool (RKImageMaker.exe) and a sample batch script (mkupate.bat) which shows how update.img can be converted to sdupdate.img as well as how the update.img is packed.
Unfortunately the Android 8 OTA image seems not to include some of them like kernel.img, misc.img, recovery.img and resource.img. Likely since the OTA update does not ship them. Moreover system.img might be covered by system.new.dat but this might contain only the files which are updated via OTA and might not include some of the files.
So it needs a bit of further analysis and perhaps we also need to wait for the first update image for Android 8 units (not OTA) to appear. I have also extracted an older Android 6 update.img which contains all the required files, so I guess the Android 8 OTA update is likely insufficient but future full-image updates will provide all the data to create recovery sdupdate.img to be flashed on Android 6 units.
SkyBeam2048 said:
This indeed looks very promising. In fact if I understand properly it's able to create the directory structure on an SD card to recover even from completely busted ROM content.
It basically turns an update.img into sdupdate.img which can be flashed from an sdcard. I currently can only assume that the PX5 SoM respectively Rockchip boot process checks if certain files exist on any attached file system and if they do it will start recovery. Just like almost any mobile phone or ARM based hardware like routers, access points or similar I ever recovered.

Hotaudio/Dasaita has a OTA update function since a few months. The update file is also from HA. I think that it is only a matter of time that a .img file from another reseller or even hotaudio will be published and then it should be possible to update

Oh, I didn't know. Are they shipping OS updates on a regular base now or announced to do? Perhaps even including Android security updates? (haha, this might be just a dream)
If they do that would be a real step ahead and a good reason to buy Dasaita/HA units in the future. Although the OTA updates are likely also shipped to 3rd party units if they run HA ROM. I wonder how HA deals with this as OTA updates will be tested on HA units only and if they break some 3rd party units via OTA update they might get support inquiries from customers which don't even have a HA unit.
But generally I regard this as a huge step ahead.

This forum is quite active. Does anyone have any contacts to HCT?
I guess they might not want to talk to modders and developers directly...
I really like Dasaita/HA is present here and publishing regular updates. I just bought a car-specific unit with Anroid before actually knowing about MTCD or PX3/PX5 at all. Now after being in this discussions for a while my favorite seller would be Dasaita/HA. Unfortunately they don't have a car-specific model for me but for future purchases it will be my first address to check.
@marchnz - @mum1989 has an Oreo unit, he has offered to try and dump the ROM

I have installed the HA ROM on my GS and tried once in November to update via OTA knowing that hotaudio has released here in the forum a newer ROM than the one I had installed on my unit but it didn't work. Don't know if it was because I have a GS or if they didn't release the update via OTA.
Don't expect security patches. They don't care about them

OK. My question was rather towards the community if someone ever tried.
Their website leaves little hope that they are even open to a collaboration. The english page is very incomplete and only chinese page seems to ahve some Sofia and PX3 boards listed. As far as I can see they are manufacturing some standard SoM they market to resellers as we know. Not sure though about the design of MTCx main boards. As many sellers seem to have very similar designs this makes me believe they are perhaps also designed by HCT or at least there is some reference design available to all unit manufacturers. Moreover some apps on our units are developed by HCT directly. Apps which interface with the MCU. So I believe HCT either provides the design or is manufacturing the complete unit, not only the SoM.
Anyway we might actually need a translator or someone in china to get in direct contact with HCT and it's unlikely for such companies to collaborate with the community. Nevertheless I have sent them a mail asking about community involvement. Maybe I go the wrong direction here and chances to succeed are near-zero, but hey; you don't know if you don't try.

I wonder if the OTA does an MCU check as the Lollipop update on KLD MTCB/C units did ? You could try flashing an HA MCU and seeing if it updates via OTA after. If it does then it could be quite easy for a dev to work around it as @dsa8310 did to allow Lollipop on any MTCB/C unit.

I'm not playing anymore with MCU's since I've done exactly that what you've suggested me. The HA MCU converted my unit into a HA with many problems. When I tried to go back to GS I had the version unmatch error. Fortunately the seller exchanged my unit.

Yes, the site is rubbish.
The motherboards are designed and made by each manufacturer to, as youve said, a set of standards that meet certain criteria so that ROMs and (most) MCUs are interchangeable, although each motherboard may be a different design.
Almost all sellers (HA is the only one who sells and manufacturers as far as I can remember) are entirely separate from the manufacturers and have nothing to do with the design or manufacturing.
It used to be though that "MTC" was behind the development of the SoM software, then it was thought htta HCT was behind it, in the light od @marchnz's first post I m not sure this is correct now.

There are no "joying" units - Joying are a seller, I take it you mean Shenzhen Joyous RK3368/PX5 units ?
Although I was under the impression that Joyous no longer made MTC units and had switched to making the "009" MCU (ie non MTC) Intel units.
I gather that @marchnz has seen ".syu" and "fyt" on he motherboard or SoM and thats why he suggested that in his first post.

Look at the kernel and file system. Fyt units are very specific. Joyous is a different reseller than joying also. Dunno what 009 unit is. FYT makes their own custom SoM with various cpu's.

Joyous is NOT a seller, Joyous is the manufacturer of all "JY" units, its Joying that is a seller.
An 009 MCU unit is a non MTC Intel unit.
I dont think the kernel or software are relevant, we re talking about MTCD/E hardware not software.
I ve not seen any MTCB/C/D/E SoMs without "HCT" on them - HCT makes all MTC SoMs, at least thats what has been established over the last 3 years, but please if youve got any photographic evidence to the contrary post it here to prove otherwise.

It is relevant, because from a live system, you can tell what SoM the unit is using
Also, Shenzhen Joyous (which was a manufacturer/seller) does not currently make any PX3 or PX5, let alone any Intel units. This may have been true in the past, no longer.
Also, HCT does make a variety of SoM's, but they certainly don't make all of them.

@Malaysk, hi there.
I own the Tristan Auron bt2d7018a Device with the Px30 Chip. This device is from Xrross but nowhere any Software releases.
My Unit have this Infos, See Attached.
I have a bunch of Questions.
I read many Threads so I become an idea.
On this Thread they explained:
MTCE is a software upgrade for MTCD, so they are identical in terms of hardware.
So, on this Site you can download some Firmware for the PX30.
Is there any Possibility to update my Unit with this firmware, or even better ca I see this Firmware on a Windows VM-Android Setup how it looks like and test it?
Greetings Dimes

So you found v192 version of software, and you currently have v076. Where is the problem? Rest of the file name is identical, its for this model. Also, TCL makes updates for platforms, not for particular models. So usually, if the beginning of firmware name is same, this case mt56, it means its compatible with all devices from that mt56 platform.

thank you for your input and clarification, like i said in the post am not sure if they are compatible, doubt got me cause was thinking it might be like phones where one last letter can mean different hardware that leads to different software

It wont install if its not compatible. Tv checks firmware before installation.
hello community may i revive this thread by asking how to install the firmware, cause i tried these steps to no avail
pull off power cord
while holding power button plug the power cord
a sad face appears then it shuts down i tried many versions from TCL directly with no success
what made my TV not booting is a failed attempt to install gapps when i placed the gapps i changed their folder permissions when i rebooted it refused to start
thank you immensely in advance
