AOD Themes for A7 2017? - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi guys, im also a proud owner of the Galaxy A7. And so far im happy with its performance and battery life.
I just want to ask you guys, if anyone have more stock themes for AOD? Because on stock, we only have 1 clock theme, 2 calendars and 4 images. We dont even have an option for a custom image. Unlike with the stock S7 Edge, it have a lot of choices.
I know I can root, to have other themes. But its not an option for me right now as I dont want to lose the warranty.
If anyone knows how to have the other AOD stock themes, without rooting our phone. It would be nice if you can share it. Thanks guys

Why does everyone root?

I never really got the point of rooting. I mean I have all that I need on jellybean anyways. I don't really need more customization.
Stock Jellybean and Project Butter VS. CNA 3.5.0 and Franco Kernel?
Does it actually make the phone faster? cuz I dont think my phone with stock jellybean has ever lagged

Then dont root lol I root because I use titanium backup, love flashing ROM's currently cm10 <3, custom kernels ftw (the options they offer are great! yes Franco im talking about you)
Plus with custom ROM's some allow theming so you can make your phone exacly how you want it to be. If stock is how you want it to be then stay on it and enjoy Android Jelly bean
Personally, its the little things that make it worthwhile. Things you never realize make a different until you have them such as:
Calender on lock screen
smaller Nav bar height
Custom app icons
Lock screen wallpaper
Skip music track with volume buttons
App/data backup and restore
Etc
Might not sound like much but you find them hard to live without after a while.

A few good reasons on my own:
1) Titanium Backup
2) AdFree: no ads at all in my phone. EVER. Not only because it's annoying but also because it consumes more battery
3) Undervolt
It's a personal choice... rooting allows you access to the internal system to make mods and changes to system files... but it also means more chances of screwing things up if you do something wrong (you can always restore though)... so apps require root access to do things which aren't allowed by default in Android... like backup apps, change host files...
Unlike commonly noted, it has nothing to do with custom ROMs... that requires you to unlock your bootloader... yes, most custom ROMs come with root capabilities, but with ROMs like CM10, you have to option of enabling & disabling root whenever you want...
Rooting opens up other possibilities such as ad-blocking. That's my favorite benefit. There's also free wifi tethering and with most custom ROMs, users can apply themes.

Rooting opens up many doors. Battery savings, faster phone, better quality photos/video, tweaks to the way everything looks etc basically you can modify every aspect of your phone to your liking

What Ads? i never get any ads.
Secondly, backup is done by google sync as well.
Wifi tethering? you mean data hotspot? if so, jellybean already has that feature built in
Everyone has their reasons. I unlock and root because I can add little bits of functionality that help me in daily use. In order of personal priority:
1) I run stock JB because it's awesome but the kernel I run allows for a no compromise in speed yet better daily use battery life combo - 4.5 to 5 hrs screen on time, and lag free even when multi tasking a lot, can't get that with stock on a standard battery, I've tried
2) I like the stock experience but I like a couple of simple mods to increase functionality like a t9 dialer, battery percent and louder sound mod (because I use the speaker phone a lot in my work calls and stock is simply not loud enough)
3) Several apps have powerful functions that need root access - For e.g. I use Tasker because it makes my phone actually work like a smartphone and helps automate things so I don't have to think about them, like changing my phone profile to vibrate only when I walk into a movie theatre or turning off the slide/pin lock when I'm at home/work and turning it on again when I'm out, on its own.
4) I'm not big on customization like changing the navbar colours etc but if I was, a rooted phone let's you customize to your hearts content.
to be in complete control of my device. for that you need superuser privledges, same as administrative privledges on a windows machine.
Can't forget about improving battery life :good:
adfree. battery savings with custom kernels. root explorer = awesomeness. being able to carve unnecessary junk out of system folders. volume boosters.
there are many reasons. it's not for everybody, but it certainly is for me.
Well my phone is nothing more than a toy for me don't use it for work nor anything like that . Hell I hardly make calls . I root for the fact I can and I like to see what I can do to this thing .
Don't know what half this stuff means but if I don't like the effects I just change ROMs ex.
I really good at following directions and have yet to brick a phone .
Oooo and because I hate iPhone .

It is easier to stay stock when you have a shiny new os installed. If you were stuck with a phone that was running 2.3 it suddenly becomes much more appealing.

I haven't rooted my Galaxy Nexus either, even after rooting and ROMing my previous phones. No shame in that.
It is a Nexus. Its sole purpose of existence is to be rooted.
Amen.
My first device I rooted was a windows phone, don't recall the name now but then went onto the Eris and then the Nook. Had my Nexus for a half year before I felt the need to root it and mostly I root to have control over the look and feel. I enjoy the customizing as well as trying out the various different ROMs out there. It also makes for great dinner conversations with my boys (all in their mid-twentys') as we debated who has the best ROM and what developers are doing what. :silly:
I agree rooting isn't for everyone and no one should feel they have to...

[DEV] Samsung galaxy discover

Im creating this thread so we can track development of our samsung galaxy discover! I had a minor setback when i was trying to deodex the rom but should be back to development soon!
------CURRENTLY-------
I'm looking for people who know how to theme apk's i will provide all the files needed. the goal is to make samsung galaxy discover look like touchwiz.
Has anyone made progress toward improving the battery life? I notice after a fresh wipe if I don't activate the "software update" notification my battery seems to last much longer. Is it just me? Not rooted yet, don't care much for custom roms as stock is already a blank slate. just want to optimize it.

Help make galaxy s5 a bad ass help

I want to make it into a beast can you guys help me out im pretty new at all this... plus my ex keeps putting spy wears and stuff
Firstly what OS is it on, because if it is on 4.3 jellybean like stock s3, u could root and install Xposed. Through this there are a variety of mods available, ie. tinted ui which look great BTW, or status bar tweaks. However, if u are running lollipop many modules may not work and cause a bootloop. A potential solution to this would beto flash a rom with the features you are looking for, ie. themes, root functionality, etc. To do this search s5 roms on xda adn try to find one most suitable. As for ur wife, well good luck

[Q] Is it worth modding?

Having seen all the bricks and the errors, is it worth to lose warranty for rooting, changing recovery and possibly even changing ROM? If so, which is the best custom ROM in your opinion right now?
In my opinion it's not worth rooting yet because their is no led notification working on any of the custom roms and it will also break android pay. Not to mention losing warranty.
After so many phones and loosing my time for "almost" perfect ROMs with "bells and whistles" = use stock ROM if you want stable and trustworthy device in your pocket.
I mainly like to root for the small conveniences, removing bloat and certain settings.
What I would like to do with this phone is decrease the size of the system buttons, as well as remove the haptic feed back on them..
Also Viper4android
Stock is fine for me
Use stock coz the LED notification may seem small while flashing a custom rom but while you use it you could regret it later. If you want your device to have the venila nougat experience , use nova launcher. It's perfect.
At the moment: no.
Later down the road: most likely.
I'm perfectly happy with stock. There is no bloatware. Android is nice and stock and I like using android pay etc.
I use Adclear to block ads.
Nova launcher is very nice too and adds a little customization.
Thanks guys for all your opinions, I'll wait some more time for modding I already like the stock ROM so much!

Z2 Plus overall usability review with custom roms and bugs, battery life, heating etc

Hi Z2 plus users.
After lot of analysis and research, I finally ordered Lenovo Z2 plus today. Got a great deal.
8k INR / approx 125 USD
I have the option of getting Redmi Note 4 as well at approx 150 USD / 10k
I have gone through lot of videos on youtube with different custom rom reviews of Z2 plus, pros, cons etc.
My main concerns are:
- Battery Life
- Heating issue
- Overall usability without digging into custom rom installations and updates very frequently. I will install custom rom but would like to use it as daily driver for few months at least before I look for new updates etc. (Time is the issue - Don't get much of it these days to do all the research and experiments )
With custom roms like AICP, Jaguar - how is the battery life in terms of SOT?
How is the heating issue with custom roms which this phone is infamous for?
I saw a review from Indian tech reviewer on youtube suggesting Jaguar R14 is very stable and good rom for this. But I see some complains and users posting different issues in Jaguar rom thread.
Kindly suggest, if it will be good to go for this phone now (after 1.5 yrs of it's launch)?
Can I expect to use it as daily driver without any significant issues for next 2-3 years with custom roms?
At present which custom rom will you suggest with regards to Battery life and heating issue resolution?
some inputs here will he really helpful

I do not have the device yet and that is my dilemma whether to accept it or return it.
Does these roms also have overheating issues?
How is the battery life on these?
CitrusCAF 3.5 by miju12 seems very stable(dont flash custom kernel unless you know what you are doing) and have favourable review from the users.
and Lenovo z2 is better choice anyway
looks okay
Got mine today as well. Same deal as the OP (around $120). First thing done was an upgrade to Nougat. Sept 2016 manufacturing and there was still 30% charge left . Device did heat up during upgrade as it was on charge. Haven't observed any major heating since. I have upgraded (or downgraded) from a oneplus 2 so my criteria of heating may be somewhat biased. A 5 inch display does seem smallish though.
Geekbench 4 was 1720, 3999 which is par for SD820. So no throttling etc.
Just wondering what is so broken about stock ROM ? What's not going well with everyone on ZUI ? I did tweak the DPI to my liking - other than that ROM feels pretty much stockish android. I mean I have heard so much hate about stock ROM for this device?
Edited - Ok I am starting to see oddities. 1. Double notifications (any fixes?)
And the usual follow up questions -
- Does the U touch specialization / gestures (swiping etc) work on the custom roms for this device ? Edited - Yes I guess.
- Would unlocking bootloader reset the device ? If yes, might as well do it before setting up apps etc. Edited - Yes it would like any other device.

I have been using Rooted ZUI (I believe that’s what the stock rom is called) for a few weeks now (Xposed now, but that’s been just a few days). At first I thought I would keep it stock rooted and get all the things I need with Xposed, but the Notification drawer and Lock screen is getting on my nerves. All notifications are ICS Style, i.e. they are not expandable and they have no quick action (except USB connection to PC which lets u choose cam/file mode). Lock screen has this weird image in the middle which just sits there doing nothing. Notifications doesn't get displayed in lockscreen (weirdly I am getting 1 calendar notification there, but nothing else). I tried enabling lockscreen notification for a lot of apps, but it seems to just allow calendar and nothing else.
The U-touch is awesome BTW, but wont let me start Google Assistant voice through it (I like being able to set alarms through it)
