Help make galaxy s5 a bad ass help - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I want to make it into a beast can you guys help me out im pretty new at all this... plus my ex keeps putting spy wears and stuff

Firstly what OS is it on, because if it is on 4.3 jellybean like stock s3, u could root and install Xposed. Through this there are a variety of mods available, ie. tinted ui which look great BTW, or status bar tweaks. However, if u are running lollipop many modules may not work and cause a bootloop. A potential solution to this would beto flash a rom with the features you are looking for, ie. themes, root functionality, etc. To do this search s5 roms on xda adn try to find one most suitable. As for ur wife, well good luck

[Q] HOW: to use kernel (Franco) and ROM (P.A 2.54)

So i've installed P.A rom and Franco's kernel. Ive seen alot of beautiful homescreens and honestly i envy them. A new jellybean user like me isn't familiar on how to customize a hybrid ROM. Im sure that i miss alot of things that only PRO users or should i say experienced user can do a good customization. So in other words, im asking for your help guys. I really want to use all the features correctly or exactly how it works.
About the kernel (Franco's), it is my first time to install a custom kernel on my devices. So i really don't know how it works, i mean ive been experiencing battery issues so i decided to make a move and fix things on my own but unluckily i can't. I heard that this kernel can really save battery if it is use properly and thats the problem. I dont know how to use it
IN SHORT, im willing to learn things about android i know its hard but ill try. Maybe a little kindness and patience from you guys can help.
Maybe a start up guide for NEWBIES will do (

updated it to LJ7
can you good guyz from the S SGS3 community here advise me on
1.. how to root LJ7
2.. how to enable wifi tethering
3.. the most debloated and enhanced stock jellybean rom
till she gets used to this phone , i wanna do it all
would be grateful

Thanks to this awesome thread

i am now rooted, pretty quick easy and utterly lucid it was
now want to have opinions on great battery frienndly roms , may be with total ly stocky look and thoroughly debloated
or highly customized.
will be looking foraward
Thank
For #2: You can tether on Jelly Bean (LJ7) if you use the Wifi Tether App that was modified by TrevE.
For #2 and #3, can you use Team Sonic's FreeGS3 rom, it has wifi tether built into it, and you can manually select which bloatware you want/not want. Background is changed a little, but as long as you select to use stock kernel and touch wiz. IT does however, change the quick panel, but you can configure to have only the stock options as well.
actually i prefer cwm recovery more than TWRP so sonic is outta q
what i have done is i have uninstalled many usual crappy crap thru TIBU
is there any debloat script available somewhere which i can run and get more crap out of this baby ;P

In my opinion you cant go wrong with the goodness rom from team nocturnal. Lots of options, very stable and I get great battery life for what i do with my phone and you can get free wifi hotspot.
Wow mash you and I think alike mate.
Of the lot I have also picked goodness.
Energized thru The Fantastic Galaxy S3
In terms of battery life, we were discussing some tips from this thread on how to help improve it.
Specifically killing "Sprint Connection Optimizer" by freezing it using Titanium Backup Pro or ROM toolbox, and renaming qosmgr and gsiff_daemon by adding .bak to the filenames and rebooting. gsif_daemon from what I've been able to find relates to the GPS. It may cause you issues if you use maps and location services a lot but may help your battery life. Not sure exactly what qosmgr does...I'm guess some sort of Quality of Service process.

[Q] Clean Android 4.2 rom with S Note app?

Hello, I am loving my Note 2, and I've had it for about a month now. The problem is, I don't like all the changes samsung has made in the stock rom for the phone... And all the pesky bloatware.
The last phone I had was the legendary HTC HD2. (I will never forget it!) I was always up to date with the newest Android version on a phone from the stone age. (Shout out to Tytung and all his amazing work for the HD2!)
So basically I am pretty used to the xda-forums, flashing and having my phone to be exactly how I want it to be. However, I am facing a problem with my picky-ness.
I am looking for a rom with the newest Android version 4.2, because I like the way google meant for the android to be, and I would LOVE it if there were a "clean" Android 4.2 rom for the Note 2. I have found a few of those, but the problem is that I have felt in love with Samsung's S Note-app and the ability to "split screen" (and also a couple of those fancy features, but they are not important). Which leads me to my question:
(tl;dr)
Does it exist a "clean" Android 4.2 rom for the Note 2, which either has the S Note-app and the "split-screen"function included or has an alternative way to implement the app and function into the rom?
Would be a bonus if all the S-pen features were included too, but I guess that would be much to ask.
Thank you for any attention!
Yes same here...I only managed to find a custom stock rom which looks and feels like aosp with the option to remove bloatwares and just leave the spen features.
Sent from the Rabbit Hole
An alternative option could be to make a flashable zip with all the S Pen apps and features, which would make it easier for everyone. Then my problem would have been solved. A zip that works with most of the roms, you know.
It would also have been easier for developers, as you could leave it as an open choice whether to implement the S Pen apps/features in the rom or not.
I hope someone could answer me whether this is possible or not. Or maybe tell me the chances of it being done. I am no developer myself, but I think this could be a great idea!!

[Q] most stable ROM?

Sorry for being retarded, but I can't find anything about multi window feature in custom ROMs long feature list. I hate those useless feature with plenty of S, so I am looking for a vanilla ROM with:
1. Multi window feature
2. Change display mode from standard to natural,
3. S-Note
That is all. I don't need any fancy colorize or anything like samsung accounts, or smartstay, etc. Only a fast and stable phone to work with.
As for S-Note, if I can get its replacement so that I can write anything pretty quick, I can live with that.
Any suggestion which ROM does that? Or every ROM basically has those options without mention it?
Thank you

I don't think you can get Vanilla ROM with TW features. But you can get Vanilla "look". May this is the ROM you are looking for
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...s.com/showthread.php?t=2134099&highlight=aosp
As for bloatware by samsung, you can easily delete them from system apps. That's one of the benefits of rooting your phone.

Thanks.. I will take a look at it.
What I meant was a lean ROM, that doesn't useless feature packed. I don't want fancy features like SmartStay or something like that, but I need that multiwindow and S-Note, or if I can get SNote replacement. Something that I can write pretty quick when I need to.

If that's the case, try a ROM with floating multi window, I haven't tried one though. Awesome Notes HD is a great app. You can pin in on your notification drawer to get quick access to it. I don't use S-Note for most of my notes, its slow, if not laggy.
I use Android Revolution. Looks like the stock Samsung ROM, only it has a lot of bloat removed, and is quicker.

Multiwindow feature and S Note are both dependent on touchwiz frameworks. At the moment it is next to impossible to get them on AOSP/CM based roms. Also there are no other alternatives that are as good as Multiwindow at the moment, floating window apps dont even come close and are very limited. My suggestion to you is to download one of these sammy based roms particularly ARHD and use titanium backup app to freeze all the unwanted S apps.
Install android revolution rom... its fast and with out bloatware. U can top it up with simplistic framework if needed
There are too many roms and you will really get confused. Try one and see whats missing and find that one in another rom and install it.:good:
Alliance rom v3. Very polished, average of 30 of usage with 6 hours of screen time.

LOL.. that's the problem. I've found too many ROMs, some claims it's stable, but other claims that it is not. I am looking a stable one, and I am not that fans of features and gimmicks. I don't even use sammy's keyboard. I can't part with swiftkey. I also have my own personal favorite apps from contacts, sms, radio, and many things, and I prefer to use those instead of bundled ones.

LOL... You are obsessed with stability. No one can satisfy your needs. It will be best if you can give us a new stable rom... No offence meant
Even i have tried so many roms before. Now i dont do that. I just prioritize as what i want in a rom. For me, stock sammy features were must. So ARHD suited me most. Then removed bloatware by rom cleaner so that i have more memory. Simplistic framework if you want to change certain things. Thats it. For me,my phone should not lag, should take what ever i throw at it,give decent battery. I got it with ARHD.
And always either do what majority follow cuz of feedback or experiment on your own. :good:

Yeah, because I work a lot with my phone, using Citrix Receiver, ssh, and remote desktop everyday there, and can't do a lot of experiments. So, yeah.. that multiwindow is VERY important since remote desktop would disconnect when I switch, and I am trying to narrow down my candidate ROM list.
I can accept once a month FC, but not a constant nagging problem with pretty GUI like cMIUI or RR. Granted, some people prefer lot of features, with newest ROM, sacrificing stability, but that's not me. And my S2 was very stable with vanilla ROM, and I like stock Nexus very much. The reason why I was starting from there. Also there are lots of ROM there with different focus. Stable ones, featured ones, fast ones, pretty ones, etc.
Thanks for info. I have downloaded ARHD, and will flash it tonight.. any other stable ROM I should consider?
ARHD ROM is pretty stable minus user error. I think there's a list somewhere in these threads showing you what you can and what you shouldn't freeze. I honestly don't find freezing stock apps all that useful. For one they don't give you usable space and second they don't keep running in the background and seldom wake the phone. I'd say ArHD+ Simplistics+ Nova Launcher+ Perseus kernel and you're good to go.

I don't like it when those useless apps keep asking me to create a backup account, nor any app that always asking me to register, notif me a promo, ask me to leave comment, rate, or do something while it is in the background. I don't use them, but they keep annoy me. I hate that. I don't care too much for waking the phone, as my phone rarely sleep while I am awake. I also keeps 3 battery with me. As I said, I use my phone for work, and those useless notif always distracts me.
I tried Omega, AOKP, CyanogenMod and a couple of more on my old S2, my wifes S3 and my Note2.
For some reason I always fall back on WanamLite.
The most satisfying rom for me regarding stability, (stock camera), quick no wipe upgrades.
Never had issues, just works as it should.
Only missing a kitchen app like omegas kitchen but for Wanam.
So 1st place WanamLite
2nd Omega
3rd AOKP
All above w Nova Launcher

I used to get so many FC om touchwiz, at least 4 on a daily basis. With Alliance v3 I've been getting a bit better battery life as well as smoothness. No FC and I never I'll wiped from v1 to v2 nor v2 to v3 and it's running incredibly stable.
AR HD no fuzz, all touchwiz

It is a misconception. It is not much faster than the stock rom... I am currently using Android revolution hd... But if you have to install then arh is the safest option though but quite useless..

custom or stock rom?

i m thinking about whether i flash a custom rom or not...
it's reli confusing....
i love the lg stock function like qmemo, qslide...
but at the same time i want kitkat since many nice apps require 4.3+ and more rom customization (modules in xposed framework dun reli work well with lg stock, just a few of them work perfectly)....
wt do u guys think i should do
sorry for my bad english
Qremote can be flashed on stock ROMs and the xfloatinghalo xposed module coupled with Notification Shortcut and Halo Shortcut gives you a feature similar to qslide but you can use any app.

I've stuck with stock, specifically a debloated ROM, mainly for battery performance — my standby battery life is ridiculous — and text wrapping/reflow. Google seen fit to remove text wrapping/reflow in 4.4 and that's something I really need in my browser and only Opera worked on the ROMs I tested.
However, as Neroga pointed out, you can pretty much get the extra functions if you want them. Furthermore, 4.4 should be hitting the OGP in a month or two
