Around one year back , I followed some topics from this great forum to modify and root my HTC ONE M9.
Now I want to get it back to its Factory mode, where it become as original when it just came from factory.
I was checking alot of topics online and here but I got confused and I really need help.
I will describe the state of my phone now so you can help me;
When I just turn on HTC ONE M9 I get the following:
1- White background with HTC Logo, then
2- White background with HTC logo and right under it "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC’s written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action.", then
3- Animated HTC Logo with white background., then
4- Normal open
5- Mobile Software number: 3.35.401.12
6- When checking updates it says there is an update with number: 3.35.401.32 ,and then after installing the update and after the self restart, it opens normally with no messages, but when i double check the software number of the device, it is still the same old software number (3.35.401.12)
7- When I Power On the device with Volume Down Button: unlocked
8- bootloader mode: Software-Status: modified, S-ON
You cannot apply updates in a modified state. You must return the device back to its stock state to apply updates.
Follow flippy's thread in the general section stickies.

You need to run the RUU for your device. Ive found that when that screen comes up it was because of an improper flash somewheres.
I bought a second hand HTC One X. after the sale i did a factory reset. after a few hours the phone received an OS update. So i downloaded the update and waited for the phone to reboot and install. during the installation the progress bar was 100% and it took a long time for the phone to reboot, (phone was recharging during the installation) so i unplugged the charger and the phone rebooted. but when the phone restarted, there were no changes. so i checked the system info to be sure. it was still the same OS version number 4.1.1.
I tried this a couple of times and did a factory reset, but still no luck.
i read something about going into the bootloader and do a recovery but i don't know what that is. and do i have to backup some data before i do this thing?
phone info:
HTC one X
android 4.1.1
sense 4+
softwarenumber: 3.20.401.1
HTC SDK api: 4.63

maybe it's rooted. if you go to bootloader and you see *****UNLOCKED**** then your bootloader is unlocked. what you need is a fastboot files and htc driver. much easier if you read first. go in the android development section and search for this thread, [REF][11 NOV]*HTC ONE X* - Indexed listing of roms, kernels, guides, tools & mods. you can find all you need in there.

When i go to the bootloader it says : ***LOCKED***
Did you rerun the update again without the charger ?
And did you check the software number, because 3.20.401.1 and 3.20.401.3 aren't that different.

I come back to stock regulary from viper but now during the first boot of my m9 it appear a red text under disclaimer that say phone is for testing and it is property of HTC. This is not true I've bought my phone regularly in a big mall. I tried to flash another Ruu but results is the same. Somebody can help me to take off that red text.
Hmm - I've got the same testing message (visible when I go into recovery), but it doesn't say anything about property of HTC. Just a warning about being a development build.
This message is given when the phone is bootloader unlocked (or if it is S-OFF, I think). Perfectly normal.
I have two m9's one a developer edition (using wwe firmware, custom rom) and one an at&t edition (using tmous firmware, custom rom) and they both have the red message. There is firmware that will remove the red message here . Just look for a match to your version and follow instructions very carefully. Instructions are here . If you need them.

That text is normal for an unlocked phone. Are you saying it doesn't boot at all?
Did you update firmware via OTA or something else?
Please tell us what is displayed on your download info screen (remove IMEI and S/N).

It's probably related to the version of su you tried. Use 2.65
Sent from my 0PJA2 using XDA-Developers mobile app
As stated, the red text is normal. You need to check the filesize and md5 of the file you flashed. Supersu 2.65 gives best results to get it running.
