Hello guys,
Just traded my Galaxy S2 for a GN and am new to this phone.
Since i allready have android 4.0.4 IMM76I is there any need to root this phone?
What will it add or improve.
Please enlighten me with your extensive knowledge
Thanks in advance.
I still haven't rooted mine, after spending a couple years rooting and ROMing my devices. Love this phone bone stock.
Of course you should. Root gives you admin access to your phone. Do you own a computer and not have full admin access? Same situation.
Its up to what you can imagine and you can change it with root. Tweaks, theme status bar, system folder access, hide nav buttons, on and on.
root is a definite...flashing roms though, thats not entirely necessary since stock is still awesome
You should root it because it's a Nexus

The *only* reason I root is to install an ad blocker. The only reason I install custom ROMs is to get rid of bloatware. So for this phone, I rooted it almost immediately, but am still on stock ROM (Thanks, Google!)
Other people will give you other reasons why to root, but it'll all boil down to "I desperately want to [activity] but I can't if it's not rooted." If you have something like that, by all means root. Otherwise, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Because you can't use any of these apps properly without root:
Adfree
Adaway
Market Enabler
Quick Boot
Titanium Backup
Google Wallet (for those of us outside the U.S.)
Market unlocker
Light Flow
Call Recorder
Car Home
Chainfire3D
SetCPU
And, most importantly: StickMount
Hi guys, i recently bought a g3 and i have to say that it's a pretty stunning smartphone. However I hate the stock rom as i think that its heavy even for this phone. So (until the developers find a way to unlock the bootloader and we can flash custom roms) i want to root and debloat using the titanium backup app. But i have a few questions and i hope that someone will be kind enough to clarify some things for me.
1) What is the best method for root, purpledrake, stump or ioroot? I have updated to the latest ota v10h-eur-xx.
2) Is there a root counter? Will the root increase the counter and void the warranty?
3) After i successfully root my phone what option do i use in titanium backup, freeze or uninstall? And for which apps?
4) Can someone who has debloated his g3 post a screenshot of the running apps screen so i can see how much ram is being used and how much ram is free? I have around 450-500mb free ram in my stock phone, which i think its a small amount.
Thanks in advance

1. I believe purpledrake works for all G3s, it's always on the top of the android development section for the G3, It's very easy to use and worked for me no problems on my D852.
2. Nope. Aslong as you flash back to stock there will be 0 signs you had rooted.
3. You can safely use the uninstall, unless you want/need to use that app later then you just freeze it and unfreeze when you use it. If you google LG G3 bloatware you can find some pretty good lists of apps you can remove, use caution doing so.
4. My phone is shut off right now so i can't snag a pic this very minute, mabye in an hour if you really want it, but for now when i say i'm running barebones i'm talkin only 3 running processes because my phone is extremely debloated & degoogled but my phone uses around 870mb used & 1.9gb available.
EDIT: Here, check post #7 it's a very informative but unfinshed bloatware list.

So I've been browsin the web, trying to decide if I should should root or not. There are many threads about it, but some contradict the other, and some don't seem like the correct answer, so I just wanted to get some clarification on the questions I had. I have the T-mobile G3
1) Does rooting remove the ability to get OTA updates? Or can you still update, but it'll remove root?
2) If I root my G3 and delete the T-mobile apps, will I not be able to un-root back to stock? Is that what freezing the apps is for?
3) How difficult is it to get back to stock?
4) If I un-root the phone, is it possible to root again?
5) Right now, is stump root the best/ easiest way to root the G3 (tmobile) ?
Thanks for the help
Is there a permanent root yet for the Verizon Note 4?

Quoth the raven.... nevermore.
There is root but its only temp and for KK. So its pretty much useless. There is no way to bypass WP as of yet. So you lose root after reboot. Sadly I feel we will never have full root on the N4.
I Finally Got Temporary Root On The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (and yes it is SuperSU, bit it does require KingRoot)
I Did It
can you post the software info page with the build for verification of which device it's on?
Like you want the build number?
BTW here is how to do it

This is temporary root which means that once you reboot you're going to lose root... Sadly not much new...

Meh, I know but it's better than nothing
Well if this is true it is new because it's on 5.1.1 and not 4.4.4. Going to give it a shot...
So I've tried twice now to root using Kingroot 4.8.0 on Android 5.1.1 and twice my phone has rebooted at the very end when I was trying to download SuperSUMe from the Playstore (did look like root was successful). Might have better luck if I factory reset my phone, but I'm not that interested in getting root.
I can verify that this indeed does provide a temp root on at&t note 4 v5.1.1
BUT! It causes the system to slow down and lag alot and the keyboard no longer works untill the phone is rebooted and when you reboot the samsung startup screen shows a padlock that says custom. So the guys at kingoroot have manged to find a small crack but it is to unstable to use at this time.
I did test out the root permissions on a few apps
1: es file explorer. (I was able to set rw permissions and move files from the internal to ext sd card and see root folders and files in the system)
2: lucky patcher (it was able to gain root and modify installed packages on the fly)
3: es task manager (i was able to acess the root features but changes did not stick)
My hope is maybe someone can learn from this and make the temp root more stable even if temporary (i kinda doubt it since gaining temp root seems to freak the system out causing glitches and stutters)
I obtain temporary root indeed the only I could achieve is, wipe bloatware and change font lol.... So far so good
Well remember, with Samsung changing the system on Android 5.1.1 now requiring a custom kernel to root one of their devices and knowing that AT&T locked the bootloader, this is the best we can get as of right now. Give the developers of KingRoot time because they have tried to root the note 4 without needing a custom kernel. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but give them time. We have wait this much for root. Why not wait a little bit longer for the root to stabilize?
Btw guys I rooted my note 4 on KingRoot v4.8.1, they haven't released this version on their website yet
And supersume pro probably won't work on this
I use the terminal emulator and a root script

There is a bounty regarding it, if they achieve completely root, 8,000 dollars are waiting for anyone achieving it
4.8.1 does stabalize things a little but i can guarantee just aboit that they are using a hole in the stock keyboard to obtain temp root i am going to experiment with non stock keyboards and see what happens from there. I also noticed that the phone gets hot when rooted
Does this temporary root allow the 910A to act as a wifi hotspot?
I was just about to list my Note 4 on Swappa. I can get by without root most of the time but when I need a hotspot, I really need it so I'm back on my Z2 for the moment.

At the moment NO temp root is not stable enough to reliably run long enough to enable and keep enabled wifi hotspot unless your carrier has opened that option. Lucky for me wifi teathering is included in my plan with at&t
Any way to run Xposed with this?
So is it available for download somewhere? Or will it be soon?

After delete all the bloatware it allow me to use Hotspot without need foxfi but I'm in Verizon so I couldn't tell you if it applies the same in at&t but I'm sure one of the program installed is the one that blocks or prevents Hotspot to work properly
I used Kingroot 4.8.1 (after you install 4.8.0 and open the app it tells you to update it) on my N910A and it got to 25% and failed? Happened a few times
