So I've been browsin the web, trying to decide if I should should root or not. There are many threads about it, but some contradict the other, and some don't seem like the correct answer, so I just wanted to get some clarification on the questions I had. I have the T-mobile G3
1) Does rooting remove the ability to get OTA updates? Or can you still update, but it'll remove root?
2) If I root my G3 and delete the T-mobile apps, will I not be able to un-root back to stock? Is that what freezing the apps is for?
3) How difficult is it to get back to stock?
4) If I un-root the phone, is it possible to root again?
5) Right now, is stump root the best/ easiest way to root the G3 (tmobile) ?
Thanks for the help

I just got myself a Note 2, but I have this question that I want to clarify about rooting. I've read about rooting the N7105 in the thread and I'm not looking at swapping custom roms or changing kernels of any sort. I just simply want root access to use Titanium, Cerberus and other root apps. However I'm also concerned about OTA. I want to receive these OTA updates.
The key question I want to know is, will rooting break OTA? This is asked in reference to using apps such as Titanium Backup, Adfree Android, Cerberus, Six Axis and other root apps. I'm not looking at changing any other system files. Can I simply unroot and will be allowed can OTA even though I have other root apps installed? Also how much do I need to be concerned with regarding the flash counter? Does triangle away work even with the updates? I definitely want to keep my flash counter down so that I can unroot and send my device back for servicing in the case of any hardware problems.
Its pretty obvious that OTA will break root although it doesn't seem too hard to root the device again after OTA.
TL;DR Summary of qns:
1) Does OTA break root?
2) If yes, can I unroot (while keeping root apps) and OTA?
3) If no, what extent can I go before I can't OTA? (e.g. are there root apps that modify the system files and prevent OTA?)
4) Does triangle away work with the new updates to reset the flash counter?
Thanks in advance, am hoping to clear up all my doubts before rooting my device.
EDIT: For background's sake, I have some basic experience with rooting my previous phone (HTC Desire HD) but wasn't concerned about OTA because it went EOL at Gingerbread.
Bump!

Rooting the phone is really easy, infact you can do it without even using a PC (towelroot). At the moment there is no custom recovery, but hopefully we will see that change once the phone is released in more countries (later this week).
As for unroot, one simple method would be to re-flash stock, but I assume you are looking for an easier solution than that.
That's what I am looking for too because of the bloody Barclays Bank app.
I want to root my LG G3, block ads, bloatware etc and then unroot to get Barklays app working
S4min, Grand 2, Note 2 - I always rooted phones and then unrooted by uninstalling root in SuperSu app.
Is there any similar method for LG G3?
Re-flashing to unroot doesn't make sense for me cos I will loose everything I needed the root for

I don't have my G3 yet to check (and not sure I will be rooting it straight away when I do get it, I want to see how far I can go without root first), but I cannot see why the unroot method in SuperSU would not work.

Flashing back to stock should take you back as if you have never rooted. Assuming all you did was root the phone.
If/when there are further modifications such as unlocking bootloader and flashing custom recovery images this might change.
So I'm planning on rooting my LG G3 soon, (using PurpleDrake I suppose because TowelRoot doesn't work on the T-Mobile variant), and I will be installing Xposed after that. I will be keeping my stock recovery as well.
I want to keep my ability to update OTA however, and I know that there are issues with updating while rooted.
As such, will I be able to a) uninstall Xposed and then b) use SuperUser to hide root / or unroot somehow, and then c) accept the OTA and then optionally, d) re-root (if the root method still works)
To make sure that no system files are touched, I plan on freezing any unwanted apps through TB (and unfreezing them before the OTA)
Will this work? Is it possible to unroot without having to wipe data?
I am also waiting to root my Tmobile D851 and have the same questions/concerns. Will be watching your thread. Wish I had some insight but thanks for this.
Hey guys, what's the safest and easiest way to put my Sprint LG G3 phone back to a good warranty status so I can take it back to exchange for the Note 4? Since I didn't install any different ROMs or kernels or anything like that, is all I need to do is unroot? And I can do with stump root, right? They won't be able to easily see I rooted my device when I take in tomorrow?
EDIT: I just ran the Root Cleanup in SuperSu. Hope that does the trick.
EDIT 2: That didn't work. It simply froze during the uninstall :\
Why don't you just flash to stock via TOT or KDZ? It's easier that way and leaves no traces of Stump.
I have the LG G Pad 8.3 LTE model (VK810) running on 4.4.2 and I managed to root it with the bruteforce method from stump root. I have SuperSu loaded on the tablet. I tried doing some research about the tablet on my own and ended up with more questions than answers from when I started, so now I'm asking for help. I'm still a little new to everything, so forgive me if I ask anything too obvious.
Are there any ROMS available for my device? I think the answer is no, but I want to make sure of it. I wanted to start clean by removing all of the junk apps and programs preloaded on there.
The LG OTA update keeps asking me to update my tablet. I'm worried the update will disable the root. If the update does take it away, is there anyway I can disable the constant reminder or should I take the update?
Should I bother trying to load TWRP on it? From what I have seen, people have had complications with it since 4.4.2 is not supported on my device.
If I can't start clean, what apps let me delete any apps that I want to? This question is generic, but I'm still confused as to what the best method is.
This question isn't as important as the others, but how do I put new apps in alphabetical order? It's not automatically doing it.
I appreciate any help that I receive. Thank you.

It will not disable root. See the RECENT thread in the "General" section titled "VK810 OTA update from 22B to 23A keeps root". You don't have to read the thread; the title says it all.
