[Q] root problem with 4.3 stock rom

Hi, I upgraded to the 4.3 yesterday and lost my root then I re rooted my [email protected] s3 i747 and it was working then all of a sudden it stopped and now this stupid security policy is blocking everything. I've tried everything to stop it. I tried to re root it and it still didn't work and apparently I lost root access, I used the chainfire autoroot with stock recovery. Does anyone know how to root the 4.3 and keep the stock recovery just like the root I used before. Thanks.

Little research could have provided you with the answer. Right now it looks like there is no permanent root. Once root is lost there doesn't seem to be any way to get it back. It may take some time for a solution to be found.

Pretty sure any sort of rooting technically voids the warranty. That's what an ODIN reflash is for.

Any device with ics or better can run Knox software and Samsung pushed it back to Google who will put it in Android L
Don't feel like having a device with Knox well the new iPhone may not have Knox

Well, I used towelroot to root the G3. It's pretty non-intrusive and very simple to use. No reboots required. Just install the APK and click a button.
Your bootloader stays intact and so does the stock recovery. If a simple root is all you want, try towelroot. You just need a factory reset to remove root.
And yes.. the S5 users are using it to root their devices without tampering the Knox bit. Based on this info, I would say it's pretty safe

No way to unroot towelrooted device without hard reset?

Is the factory reset enough to make the phone accept OTA's? I can't see why it wouldn't be (unless there is a tampered flag) however some people on here have said refreshing stock rom is the only way to do it.

Does it work with a carrier branded G3 in same way?

Can we have some more information guys? Seems like a simple .apk can root the device and in the EU the warranty isn't void?

I used towel root on my LG G Pro 2 to change my build prop so that I could install and run skygo. I performed a full unroot with supersSU Pro and surprisingly found that this did not satisfy skygo and it still flagged up as rooted (superSU Pro has always worked for me previously with other root processes).
I repeated the root process and I found some additional towel root files in system xbin which I removed then ran unroot with supersSU Pro and was then able to run skygo successfully.
I hope this is relevant to the g3 as I intend to buy a 32gb version but would like to have skygo on this. For the first time in my life, I am not charging in head first. I am holding back on my purchase and reading everything about it first.
Not sure I can keep this up for much longer though.

The price you pay for being on the bloody edge is that sometimes when you're one of the first to have a new device no one has had the device to develop exploits for it.
You can always feel free to jump in and develop the method and publish it.

This uses an exploit that does not work on the LG G4 (ability to remount /system as read/write instead of read only).
All of the existing root scripts that I have found execute the command "mount -rw,remount /system".
In earlier LG phones this command was successful. In the LG G4 this command fails (No Permissions) so the older exploits don't work.

Did you try the g flex 2 rooting method?

rooting is one of the reason I've joined here. Will wait for updates. I'm itching to try it on my upcoming G4. Hopefully, I won't messed up this time around

A few questions for the uninitiated of LG Android. I am not familiar with the LG Android ecosystem, been with Motorola and just got off of Samsung. If I root the G4 now, how will that affect getting OTA updates and installing them? (like if I root would that hinder my ability to get conventional OTA downloads and being able to install them normally? Like if it would set my "status" to "custom".)
I'd REALLY like to be able to uninstall Facebook and Messenger! Would uninstalling them also possibly hinder my ability to get OTA updates and installing them?
Last will I have to worry about voiding my warranty like you would with a Samsung device if you root that and say tripped the knox counter??

As far as I remember, just rooting your phone doesn't take away OTA availability. You'd have to freeze or delete the files that control that process with a root explorer

You definitely want to make sure Ota is blocked , I remember on my rooted and TWRP installed stock G2, when the first Ota came through tons of people almost ended up with bricked phones, thankfully someone found a way around it, but it wasn't looking good for a second., after that I just flashed a modified stock room to eliminate the risk of OTA

Way different phone

well got this **** to work when SU told me to reinstall with twrp -_- i rebooted and lost root now i can't get it to work (semi bricked FML)
Also used other root apps so might be a combo problem of this **** is the system mount/un-mount i had this with my s3 once it disabled my internal sd, so i need an twrp to get it back going or i'll just call my insurance

If SU told you to reinstall with TWRP it didnt work

You will not root the G4 now. The bootloader is still not unlocked. After that we can expect root to follow. One forum member said the ul bl and root would be available at the same time - but now is not the time.
Also, for the international version that I have - the UK H815, there is an option in settings not to download or install the OTA.

You can achive root without unlocked BL, if you have an unlocked BL you can root without having to use exploits

how do i root my LG G3 d855 - without changing timers etc ( safest way)

Hi all
I recently purchased an LG G3 mobile and it is running lollipop 5.0 on o2 and I would like to change a few things 1. change the colour of that orange top in the messaging app - people have told me I need root for this so my question is:
What is the best and safest root process for me to use as I have never rooted before and havnt got a clue, I just do not want to break the mobile as its brand new. I don't want it to change any counters, timers, warrantys or do anything else and especially I do NOT want it to stop me getting OTA android updates

Hi there.
As soon as you root any phone you immediately lose your warranty. However if you ever need to send it for repair, you can easily revert the process these days.
LG, unlike Samsung, has not what you call "timers" meaning a record if you have rooted and how many times you have flashed your phone so you are pretty safe on that aspect as LG cannot tell. Even on Samsung these days there are ways to revert the so called "timers" to null.
Once you root your phone you will also lose the capability of OTA's but as I said this can be easily undone...you unroot, update the OTA and root again. (if a root method is available for that specific version of OTA which usually is and if not it comes out usually in a few days/weeks)
Hope this clarifies your doubts.
***One word of advice: read, read and read. Rooting and flashing custom ROMS is fun and custom ROMS are way better than stock. Just take your time to learn and don't be in a hurry. This way nothing will happen to your phone.

thank you very much for your info, so I shall just use the link posted about and root that way. Although I DO NOT intend to use a custom rom. one of the reasons I want to root is to get rid of the stupid Mcafee app that comes on the LG G3

Yes mate just follow that tutorial and you will be alright. Don't forget to read well first so that you will know what you are doing and nothing wrong will happen.
You don't have to install custom ROMS though. There are an immense amount of things you will be able to do to your phone once rooted.

Still no way to root MM without unlocking bootloader or using Kingroot?

All I see are options that require me to unlock the bootloader (lose warranty completely) or use Kingroot (borderline malware and is only temporary).
Is there no way to root MM yet that doesn't include the above?
I want to remove so much crap Virgin Mobile put on my phone and block ads. I mean they put Mcafee Security on my phone and it doesn't allow me to disable it.

Take a look at this page on this thread. The first two post on the page are what you need to root. I would have rooted mine but i await autorec for D852G marshmallow, all other versions are available. i believe your device version will be avaialble. So currently i am temp rooted with king root.
If you worry about king root being malware then simply install droidwall and block it from having access to the internet after you root.
Which device do you use.
the annoying thing is, to root the lg g3 mm you need to unlock the bootloader, and to unlock the bootloader you need to root... so am like what kind of messed up situation is that. Currently no developers are showing much support for rooting the LG G3. wish i dint buy the device

I could live without titanium backup i guess.
Im using d852 with no g.
But the best ad blockers all need root
Gues im stuck waiting for the warrenty to expire and doing it anyway.
I tried flashing back to 5.0 using flashtool, but i got so many problems and errors, i bricked my phone twice.so when i finally got back to 6.0 I just said screw it.

I guess that it's impossible to extract the exploit which kingroot uses? I am looking for root d855 without kingroot and I see that it doesn't exist...

Just tried the 1 click with MM, script said fail, phone says do not unplug, flashing firmware, 0%, unsure what to do now...
I pulled battery and all is fine.. guess a sg update is in order...
