My problem is that my G2 shows that it connects to 3G/UMTS but i can't get it to connect to the mobile data network, meaning no internet despite 3G connection (mobile network state: disconnected, but mobile network type: UMTS).
I tried the different APNs of my carriers but to no avail. I have an unlocked G2 and my country supports the 3G/UMTS band of 2100, which the G2 also supports.
So the main question is: How do i get it to go from 'Mobile network state: disconnected' to 'Mobile network state: connected'?
Im from the Philippines and any help/suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated

Tmobile USA G2 only supports 3G Band IV (1700/2100 PAIR).. all the documents i seen doesn't show 3G Band I (2100) support.. so im sure it'll only work for AWS/Band IV networks.
i beg to differ man.. i read on some threads here that the G2 does indeed support band I (2100). One dude from singapore managed to make his G2 work on their local carriers, some other owners have brought their unlocked G2 to other countries and had no problems connecting to the local 3G network. So I guess it's just a matter of inputting the right APN setting for my local carrier.
Indeed, T-Mobile's own official support page shows Band I (2100) support for the G2, even though HTC's own spec sheet doesn't.

thanks for backing me up bro'... now all i need is for someone to shed light on my query lol anyway, any reply/suggestions/tips would be of great use. thanks!

Well that's good news! It would be dumb to not include the main euro 3G band.

Unlocked with an unlock code, unlocked from the manufacturer, or unlocked following the Sim unlock, SuperCID, S-OFF guide in the dev section? If it is the former, find your way over to the dev forum and get the thread to unlock per scotty2's method.

Hey, if no one sorted this out for you yet: had the same problem here. since i live in australia, i found a solution for me via ausdroid.net; search for apns.
if you fine the settings for your local providers (ie in the Phillipines) and then you manually input the apn, it should sort the problem. cheers

I'm having the same problem with Three UK, no 4G. Although 4G worked on my Lumia 1020 with the same SIM a few days ago.
If I go into the hidden menu under LTE you can set it to use LTE and it connects to 4G brefiely then goes back to 3G and it never shows GSM/ WCDMA / LTE auto in the mobile networks menu, just GSm / WCDMA auto.
I noticed on the demo unit in a Three store that the phones software version was V10a-EUR-XX whereas mine is V10g-HKG-XX.

Is there anything that can be done without root? I've tried setting the LTE in the hidden services menu and it connects foe a few seconds and then goes back to HSDPA. If seeting to LTE only it stays on LTE but not sure how it will work if I leave 4G coverage? I've also enabled fast dormancy but that doesn't seem to help.
There was a discussion about this in the UK thread, some phones came with 4G deactivated (on the 800MHz band used by 3 and Vodafone) that had to be activated at every boot. Replacing it fixed the problem as its not supposed to happen. But since the phone is from Asia who knows. Im not sure if flashing the eur version of the rom would work?

fast dormancy is a network dependant setting that has nothing to do with the generation of signal you are receiving.
The only other option you have is to try and flash another firmware version.

LTE will work from the hidden menu, or download 4G switcher from the Play store which will take you to the menu also. Just change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA and it will work on the 4G network (at least on 3 UK). LG UK support will not help as it came from HK. I still want to know if I can flash a Euro 32GB ROM to my phone to get it working natively.
make sure u have activate your LTE with your carrier,i you have done it,and still didnt have LTE, try the hidden menu,or try 4G switch frm playstore, rooting and deleting lteconfig from system/app would be your last option (i prefer this)

my lte/3g/2g settings was everytime reset to 2g/3g modus when i got back to settings. i deleted lte config.apk and the .odex file, rebooted and BAM! it keeps on lte/3g/2g
Solved
I had the same issue (no LTE option in Networks configuration menu), until today: My phone installed firmware V10i-HKG-XX, and now I have the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" option in Preferred Network Mode.

Do the following -
1. From the dailer, type in 3845#*855#
2. Select LTE Only
3. Modem Setting
4. RAT Selection
5. GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto
You should now receive 4G but everytime you reboot, you have to repeat this procedure
Hello,
I have an open-line Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919v) and the problem is that I can't use the LTE feature of this device even though there is a sticker of LTE on the phone. The network mode option doesn't show LTE option as it only says WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA Only and GSM Only. I also tried to change the settings in *#2263# but selecting LTE changes the Signal bars to " Ø " I upgraded from Kitkat (4.4.2) to Lollipop(OTA) and still the LTE option on Network mode is missing.
I am using an LTE sim and also am very sure that I am in an LTE spot. The phone was from Canada but I don't know which network specifically it was subscribed to as it was only given to me.
Hoping to fix this problem as soon as possible, Thank you.
You should ask here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile
But probably there isn't anything you can do. You phone doesn't really support LTE. It support some bands, but your provider is probably using a different band for LTE. So your phone will never get LTE with that provider.
Choose "automatic" after dialing *#2263*
Worked for me.
Sent from M919V Galaxy S4 via XDA Premium HD app.
I had a vzw s4 and was able to get lte in a hybrid att area. I had to use lte specific locked band in the options and would change to gsm or automatic when i left the hybrid area to be able to place calls etc. In the hybrid area everything worked fine.
HI there,
I brought my Robin to Toronto in July, but couldn't get data service however I tried. I did some brief googling on this, and found no answer. The 2G voice and SMS worked fine.
I have never had data problem in Canada in the past. I am on T-Mobile and previously LG V20, IPhone SE, Moto G4 Play, Galaxy S3, S4, S7 all worked fine in Toronto.
(trust me I tried all mobile setting options being an amateur android user for many years)
Any suggestions (other than APN setting etc that is user available in mobile data setting)?
Thanks!
Robin supports
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSPA 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/28
Check which band your device is connecting to when you use your T-Mobile SIM.
There are many diagnostic codes but most are disabled for users to invoke.
But this one usually works,
Use *#*#4636#*#* > phone information > network type that is the band you are connected to.
If you aren't able to get info of the band you are connected to try apps like LTE Discovery or NetMonitor Cell Signal Logging.
LTE Band numbers are associated to certain frequency. Check [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTE_frequency_bands)
If the band you are connected to is indeed 3G/4G supported go to your carrier and ask them to get this working. Carriers usually have a whitelist of 4G devices which is how they determine which SIM is connected to which device and which network to provide.

Because I turned it on after I put in m t mobile sim card and used it.
How do I turn it on/off. I havent found it yet, but it is fixed to my notifications bar, and I don't want it there.
Thank you for confirming. Are you able to confirm a couple of other things?
VoLTE?
RCS Messaging? (I think there should be an advanced setting to enable this).
Band 71 available?
I am trying to figure out if I buy and unlocked phone from Samsung, and flash the TMO ROM, or buy the carrier version and clean up the bloatware (I keep my phones so resale value doesn't matter so much for me)

I have found the only way to turn it on or off is through the notification bar an then it opens the window to change wifi call settings, I am still looking.
This is what I also found: go into the dialer, top right hand corner are three buttons touch that go to settings, and you will see wifi calling listed and you can turn it on and off in there, too.

Is there any chance you could post a screen snaps of your unlocked S9 with T-Mo SIM on the *#2263# band support screen? On the T-Mo phone at least they turn down LTE Band 28 and UMTS Band 8 whenever you pop in a T-Mo SIM but open it up when you insert another carrier SIM. Since I can flash the unlocked firmware on my T-Mo device, this would be a great work around if those two bands persist!!
Apparently without those bands, roaming sucks in AUS and NZ, and without B8 UMTS parts of Europe (esp. South France) loses coverage.
Thanks in advance, as well as for the Intel! I do know you lose native digits support and video calling from the dialer, but those features don't matter to me as long as WiFi calling works which you proved.
Attaching my band list, as you can see no B28 or B8 UMTS

That's strange--the unlocked model is showing one less band than T-Mobile, LTE 46 which is for LTE LAA on the unlicensed 5GHz band. Thank you for the snap, much appreciated!

Are you able to enable "Cellular calling preferred" in the wifi calling options? After enabling this option while on wifi instead of "Wifi Calling Preferred" the phone reverts back to wifi calling turned on even though I had chosen "Cellular calling preferred".
Does this happen to you? It still happens to my S9 unlocked and also the Note 8. Called Samsung about it but doesn't seem like anyone bothered to fix this.

Yes, there are a few bands not showing that the unlocked version supports. Samasung tech told me it is SIM specific, if I had an attitude SIM in the phone it should show the bands that ATT uses such as band 30.
The unfortunate thing is that TMobile SIM is disabling B28 and UMTS/WCDMA band 8 which are valid roaming bands for other carriers that TMobile can roam on. The AT&T SIM actually enables those bands, as do international SIMs. It seems like a strange oversight / mistake?

Yea let me know in 10-15 minutes if it goes back to Wifi calling. My phone will do the same. It'll switch to cellular calling but switch back to wifi calling in a few minutes on its own
It has not switched back yet.

Do you have Keep Cell Data on enabled in developer settings? I don't have developer settings enabled at all so maybe that has something to do with it?
