My problem is that my G2 shows that it connects to 3G/UMTS but i can't get it to connect to the mobile data network, meaning no internet despite 3G connection (mobile network state: disconnected, but mobile network type: UMTS).
I tried the different APNs of my carriers but to no avail. I have an unlocked G2 and my country supports the 3G/UMTS band of 2100, which the G2 also supports.
So the main question is: How do i get it to go from 'Mobile network state: disconnected' to 'Mobile network state: connected'?
Im from the Philippines and any help/suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated

Tmobile USA G2 only supports 3G Band IV (1700/2100 PAIR).. all the documents i seen doesn't show 3G Band I (2100) support.. so im sure it'll only work for AWS/Band IV networks.
i beg to differ man.. i read on some threads here that the G2 does indeed support band I (2100). One dude from singapore managed to make his G2 work on their local carriers, some other owners have brought their unlocked G2 to other countries and had no problems connecting to the local 3G network. So I guess it's just a matter of inputting the right APN setting for my local carrier.
Indeed, T-Mobile's own official support page shows Band I (2100) support for the G2, even though HTC's own spec sheet doesn't.

thanks for backing me up bro'... now all i need is for someone to shed light on my query lol anyway, any reply/suggestions/tips would be of great use. thanks!

Well that's good news! It would be dumb to not include the main euro 3G band.

Unlocked with an unlock code, unlocked from the manufacturer, or unlocked following the Sim unlock, SuperCID, S-OFF guide in the dev section? If it is the former, find your way over to the dev forum and get the thread to unlock per scotty2's method.
G2/Desire Z 3G connection
Hey, if no one sorted this out for you yet: had the same problem here. since i live in australia, i found a solution for me via ausdroid.net; search for apns.
if you fine the settings for your local providers (ie in the Phillipines) and then you manually input the apn, it should sort the problem. cheers

I have finally acquired a data plan from my cell provider, and today I set up the APN settings for it. However, whenever I turn off the wifi, I only get the "G" (GPRS) icon in the status bar, with unbelievable slow download/upload speeds.
I just now tried flashing my radio to Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF (Even though I believe I had it before as well), and still I can't get it up to "H" (HSPDA).
I asked a co-worker with a Galaxy S on the same cell provider, and he has HSPDA speed at the same location as I. I also compared his APN settings to mine.
What can cause this error? Should I try flashing a different radio? is the Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M or Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 better in any way? Are they stable? Is this even the cause of my problem?
I have moved this question from the "Android Development" forum (sorry) - and over there I was told to use
*#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> WCDMA preferred
or
*#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> GSM auto prl
I tried both options, and when I tried "WCDMA only" I got disconnected, when I use any "preferred" setting, I get "Network type: GPRS".
I checked with my co-worker, and he has "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)" - trying that I am still stuck on "GPRS" as my network type (He has "HSPDA" on his network type)
Are there any other hidden locations I need to check, in order to finally get HSPDA?
where did you buy it?
there are different "versions" out there with different frequencies.
"G" (GSM) is available in every country..but EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, etc have different frequencies..that could be a reason why it doesnt work.
DN41
I have ordered my DHD from France, but I believe it came from Spain, according to the English (Spain) and English (Catalan) languages on it.
Where can I see what frequencies it support, and how can I change it/fix it?
I just checked. The DHD is
Europe:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Both Israel and Spain (And France) is on 2100, so I think it should be OK...
seems that this is not the problem
if it would've been the wrong "revision" with different frequencies, you couldn't have done anything.
seems like a software problem...does other sim cards work?
DN41
Try
Settings, wireless and networks, mobile networks, network modes.
This give options for WCDMA only, GSM only and GSM/WCDMA auto.
Hope this helps.

you might also want to check you have a 3G capable sim card, if you have only just aquired a data plan
Someone once told me there is no such thing as 3G sim - they are all basically the same, except for the on card memory size (64/32MB, or something like that). I wasn't too sure he was right, but then my cell provider just told me he can give me the data plan, without the need to physically upgrade the sim card. Then again - what do they know?
Do you think it might be the case?

Yeah, pretty sure there's no 3G SIM card. The SIM card only identifies you to the network.
Yes, it was the sim card. Apparently mine was quite antique... Now it works just fine with H/3G.
Thanks for the help, though.

Hello all, I'm having a strange issue with the t-mobile S2. First off I'm not from the US, the person brought the phone for me to unlock. I sent the IMEI code and got back all the unlock codes. When I inserted my local sim card (bmobile) I noticed that the phone did not prompt to enter the unlock code. Instead it seemed to register on the network, I was able to make a call with the phone so I know it works.
Here is where it gets interesting, I inserted another sim (digicel) and it does not register on the network. I even went into the mobile settings and tried to switch the network manually but to no avail. My question is basically this, what? Why would a seemingly unlocked phone work on one network and not the other. I will have to ask for a refund now since the phone was already unlocked.
Here are the bands of the carriers:
MCC MNC Brand Operator Status Bands (MHz)
374 12 bmobile TSTT Operational GSM 850 / GSM 1900
374 130 Digicel Digicel Operational GSM 850 / GSM 1900 / UMTS 1900
Any thoughts?

Never unlocked a phone....but does the new sim automatically setup new APN settings? If so, are they right. And if not....that's your issue maybe??
Again....totally guessing.

I believe you still need the new T-Mobile radio....I think.
I'd triple check the apn settings tho....every line. They'd be different for each sim/carrier. Try Googling the apn setting for the carrier. Throw t989 in the search....in case someone has same phone on same network as you.

Thanks mate, i'll give it a try.
The last time I had a T989 that worked on one network (AT&T) but not the other (T-Mobile), it was because it was reported stolen.
I had bought it used, and had no idea it was stolen.
I checked the IMEI here:
http://www.t-mobile.com/VERIFYIMEI.ASPX
A family member gifted me a Galaxy S4, however it is the SGH-M919. I currently live in Europe and 3G bands in my region are GSM 900/1800. At the moment I can't access 3G and any other type of data for that matter (LTE is not supported here). Is there a way to change T-mobile 950 and 1900 bands to my region ones?
Thanks for taking your time to answer
Sadly not.
Since the radio does not support those frequencies for hsdpa

So there's no way to fix it?
Hello Flex,
I have the same phone "Samsung S4 SGH-M919 - Tmobile" and I live in Hungary, it works fine with me all you have to do is just to switch form WCDMA/GSM to any other option "like GSM only" then back to WCDMA/GSM as a kind of refresh and the 3G will work fine after that, you can find this inside Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network mode, but unfortunately you have to do this every time you restart your device.
There is also another alternative solution is to reset the Access point names to default, you can find this inside Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
to be honest I don't know the reason of this error, but try what I described and tell me if it works with you.
Good Luck
Well. I have the exact same phone and have tried several ROMs, either custom or stock and basebands also. Nothing seems to work. The very few users who reported it was working didn't provide much evidence of it. Even Wikipedia says no 3G 900MHz availability for this phone. A simple edit to NV 1877 values won't solve it. I've tried that too.
Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your time.
I have an unlocked Korean Optimus G Pro from the Olleh company. I switched providers to AT&T but it seems that the phone doesn't has access to the Data network provided. I have great phone signal but no Data network (No 4G LTE, 3G, Edge. Nothing at all). Everytime I turn on my data I get the message "Connection unavailable. Configure Mobile Network or Wi-Fi settings to download data."
I understand that AT&T is GSM. But this phone so far is only working with WCDMA only. I've tried switching it to GSM or any ways to make data network available with AT&T but so far it is not working. I checked the WCDMA Service settings but no luck.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks! :good:

i live in pakistan , i set the apn for my network but still cant get a 3g, H, H+ on my phone . Lg g pro F240L. Any suggestion?
HI there,
I brought my Robin to Toronto in July, but couldn't get data service however I tried. I did some brief googling on this, and found no answer. The 2G voice and SMS worked fine.
I have never had data problem in Canada in the past. I am on T-Mobile and previously LG V20, IPhone SE, Moto G4 Play, Galaxy S3, S4, S7 all worked fine in Toronto.
(trust me I tried all mobile setting options being an amateur android user for many years)
Any suggestions (other than APN setting etc that is user available in mobile data setting)?
Thanks!
Robin supports
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSPA 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/28
Check which band your device is connecting to when you use your T-Mobile SIM.
There are many diagnostic codes but most are disabled for users to invoke.
But this one usually works,
Use *#*#4636#*#* > phone information > network type that is the band you are connected to.
If you aren't able to get info of the band you are connected to try apps like LTE Discovery or NetMonitor Cell Signal Logging.
LTE Band numbers are associated to certain frequency. Check [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTE_frequency_bands)
If the band you are connected to is indeed 3G/4G supported go to your carrier and ask them to get this working. Carriers usually have a whitelist of 4G devices which is how they determine which SIM is connected to which device and which network to provide.
