Hello, I am interesting in buying this phone, but i have some questions:
1. Which style shell is in the box? (Ive seen black, red and wooden ones... How to know which one is in sealed box)
2. Is it better white one or black one? Any difference?
3. Is it better single sim or dual sim? Any difference?
1. Black Nylon in Germany
2. I think black
3. Dual Sim -> To use two sim cards
I got the wooden one. I thought you can choose which one to get?
The white one is going to show all the sensors (black dots in the front) so black one is better imo.
Dual sim is better
Im so confused for style shells, I mean would like to have wooden one out of the box... Is there any way to check which one you will get based on your region or phone model?
Asking about colors (even i prefer black) because i saw on reviews that black ones are fingerprint magnets, while white ones are not, and asking about dual sim - single sim to check from you guys who brought it, if its there any differences spec wise.
Thanks for replying
In Mexico we get the Red Nylon shell, it's pretty awesome but it gets very dirty very fast.
Up in the great White North (Canada) phone, charger and nothing else, no moto shell, no data cable, zippo f**k you Rogers.
Good luck finding moto shells here as well, the f**king idiots at all the cell stores look at you like man what the f**k is a style shell. Finally after going to 10 stores and look at all the f**king crap for Icrap and Sucksung, I finally found the wood and leather style shells. Oh and it gets better, I can order it form Amazon for that amazing price of $ 100 bucks , f**k you Amazon

What are you going on about? $15-20 (USD) from Amazon
US (GSM unlocked) model came with a Grey "oak" style shell and charger. That's all. I got it directly from Moto website.

I have no issue finding the style shells, Telus and Koodo stores carry them as does Wireless Wave.
Some cases replace the style shell, I don't use mine. It was black for a black Z Play (like already mentioned, in Germany).
Regarding question 2: The difference between the black and the white version is - of course - the color. If you don't compare Chinese black 64GB dual SIM against European 32GB single SIM

I have two options
Motorola Z Play 32GB Dual EU black or white, box is sealed so buyer opens it first, and I dont know what to expect.
I used motorola milestone, moto x and now want to buy z, the thing is they are not so popular in here, but i like them and they served me well, they didnt advertise so much until moto z and people are used to eg iphone or samsung... People under rate them just because they dont want to admit that they wasted 1000$ on something which they could spent 400$
1)
In Brazil, the box has:
Red nylon shell.
Earphones.
Turbo charger.
USB C cable.
2)
Black. I don't like white phones. The only diff is the color.
3)
Dual SIM.
Works fine with only one SIM.
Dual Sim.
My Verizon device came with the wooden one. I bought a blue Incipio one for $20.
I just found out that phones are from Germany, so black one have black back and white is still unknown
My white retgb bought in UK has black nylon style shell

Rogers/Telus/Koodo should all have the same deal in the box.
Turbo A/C wall charger (no USB data cable) and a sim tray key. No shell/skin. I wouldn't doubt it if future phones stop including the wall charger and sim tray key, and expect customers to buy those separately, too.
I've been holding off for the Nougat update before I start using the phone (because I want to unlock bootloader and root, and don't feel like doing it in Marshmallow, then all over again in Nougat). By now I've received most of my online orders for accessories:
* Flip case (one arrived, the other one still on its way)
* screen protectors
* camera lens sticker from GadgetShieldz (supposed to reduce the chance of the back camera glass from cracking should the phone drop)
* USB micro to type C adapters (so I can use a spare data cable)
Most accessories arrived before the Nougat OTA. I ordered the phone on boxing day and the accessories shortly afterwards.

At least they gave use the Turbo charger but Moto does that on all their Canadian branded phones, absolutely no accessories, my moto x and moto x play same thing.
Bye the way you can flash my Nougat rom, works fine on all moto z play's, we'll be the last to receive Nougat.

I figured just as well. Just that I'm in no rush. Currently using a Moto X Play. I rather wait for the Telus/Koodo tkpca software channel to release the OTA, unless Telus goes out of business. That'll leave me with minimal steps to do nandroid backup and then root.

GelaSkins are now available for the One X! I'm going through all the artwork now, it's so hard to choose :silly:
It seems like too much work just for a skin that will eventually peal and look aged lol.

Gelaskins don't have anything to do with those crappy fakes ones that you by from ebay.
I had one in my previous iPhone that that still looks like new after more than 2 years.
Gelaskins are expensive but they worth the money they cost. A really good option for my HTC One X.
Agree, have used few devices with GelaSkins. It is very resilient, worth the money IMO.
I'll give the One X a miss, as I like the look of the phone, and I have photo slide shows as wallpaper so a skin will look out of place.
Don't waste your money. I just got mine, they don't line up with the pogo pins/camera/3.5mm jack/simcard tray.
After working it a bit, I made it fit ok (but not perfect), and the pogo pins are completely covered...

Which version of the One X do you have? Is it the version with LTE (Snapdragon S4) or the Tegra 3 (3G only) version?
I have the tegra 3 version, the skin covers half the sim tray and none of the pogo pins go through the holes that were meant for the pins. There are 5 cutout holes for them but it just shows the back of the phone through. Also, the skin covers almost half of the audio jack.

Ouch! Thanks for the heads up. I am planning on getting the One XL on Telstra in Australia (LTE version) and I knew the pogo pins were in a different location. By what you have said, the Gelaskin might have been made for the LTE version (AT&T One X, Rogers One X, Telstra One XL) and the pin holes would be closer to the bottom of the device (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631225). Would you say that is a fair assessment?
Hi everyone, I've FINALLY received this case from AliExpress:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs...Soft-back-case-for-LG-G-Pad-8/1532446130.html
As promised, here's a YouTube Video Review.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV0AN_YhXpw
TL;DR verdict: It's cheap, it's black, and overall it works well. Fit is solid, all ports work out (except the SD card slot, which is covered - but that's hardly a dealbreaker), and it doesn't add any significant weight. Does not interfere with the speakers.
Would buy, but not from AliExpress. No fault to the vendor (who was pleasantly responsive to my inquiries), but on eBay you can now pick it up for $6 CDN shipped.
Thanks for reading and watching!

Fellow Canuck here who bought the tablet in the USA at bestbuy. Where did you get yours?
Have you tried to use the remote? Seems only US cable providers are listed. Same for you?

Mine was also sourced from the States as Newegg in Canada didn't have it at the time, Best Buy here STILL doesn't, and $259 USD on sale was worth the trouble of getting it brought up here by a family member.
The Quick Remote app DOES work on my Telus cable setup. I used the AT&T option and it works just fine. I don't know if Rogers, etc. would work, but one of the options just might be an equivalent. Good luck!

Ah, so you're out East.. I don't think Vidéotron equipment is any different than those used in the States, nor would it be unique to Quebec or wherever you are. I suggest just going through the available selections and see if one works for you. That's what I did.

Telus digital cable. I'll check the make of the box, but honestly the best thing is to cycle through the available options in the Q Remote. I found AT&T compatibility within two minutes, though to be fair I went alphabetically.

Did that and found 2cable companies that worked. Weird that thistablet still has not been released in canada where lg traditionally sells well.I imagine there will need to be a Canadian version of the lg software to include Canadian cable companies. Right now there are 3versions of the firmware. A,C,E. Am guessing it's American Europe and China.

By the way how it's your battery life.that and the little blue line are my only issues and they are not enough for me to consider returning this tablet. Had a nexus 7 2013 model beforewhich had brighter screen but I lost it forgetting it on the airplane. Having a note 3I felt the nexus 7was too similar in size. This is the perfect size for a tablet. Wish there were more accessories. Bought the ivso case and will use that when I need to but prefer it caselessSri if they ever had a case cover like the iPad mini would love that

Drifting from topic, but my battery life is about the same as most reviews. I haven't put it through any rigorous testing, but when watching movies or YouTube on the unit it holds up any two hours in a row that I'd need it, I have it plugged in while at my desk at work, and standby time is awesome. I noticed the blue line, but I had to look really, REALLY hard for it so in practice it's not an issue for me. No appreciable light bleed either. I use it indoors so brightness isn't a huge issue, but for the list price it should have been brighter.
This is a keeper for me - I'm keeping this case as well and may get the IVSO in Red when it becomes available on Amazon.ca in a couple months. I miss a cover for the actual screen on this thing, but as long as I'm not outside or traveling (I *do* travel for work, so we'll see in the long run) this will do just fine.

Hey guys,
Nice review Mark! I was looking to get a silicon case quickly and this was the cheapest to do that so I got one from eBay, shipping from Germany to the UK and it's already been dispatched so should be here next week sort of time. I got it in red and will have some photos up when it arrives.
The VOIA case looks nice but, I will see how this one turns out before I get that guy, I have done the whole folding cover thing with the N7 and they never got used so I will stick with silicon this time around
Tom.
No worries Toyface! I've had the TPU case for a week now and have already taken it on a business trip with me. I find it unobtrusive and very comfortable to hold in one hand, with the grippy texture on the back. The volume and power buttons are not tougher to use at all. I've even gotten used to the fingerprints on the shiny parts. The ONLY downside is that on some of the USB plugs I've used since the video, some of them do deform the rubber on the lip a little. I doubt this will be a long term issue though, it springs right back when I unplug it.
On real-life bumps: when the tablet slid off of a chair during an airplane landing (my bad, it was sitting on my coat and fell off as the plane was braking), it landed face down and had no damage. Incidentally, my headphone jack was plugged in and while the jack was bent, the tablet was undamaged and kept working with the earphones. Point LG!
Finally, when I carry this thing around outside, I use a slipcase for an old Acer netbook. Not the most ideal shape, and I may get a more form-fitting one eventually, but it works. It's to the point where I may not get the IVSO / generic flip case after all, as this is working just fine for me.
Please post some pics of your red version when you get it!
Mark
So, my case arrived a couple of days ago. Post from Germany to England was very good and the eBay seller (phonenatic) was pretty great really.
So far,I think the case is pretty good, but I hate the color. It's supposed to be red, but in reality it's more pinkish than anything else. Cutouts are all good (as you see in the photos) and it has thick lip around the screen so landing flat shouldn't be too bad there. This one came with two screen protectors, I fitted one then removed it a day later, I just hate screen protectors. it was very easy to get on there though.
Tom.
Thanks for posting those pics! You're right, with the white version of the G Pad in there the red is muted somewhat to look more pinkish... I'm wondering if it'd look darked with a black version in there.

I'm really tempted to buy the moto 360 but MWC is just around the corner. Should I hold out for the second generation? Anyone know when itl be released? Wanted some advice from current owners. Is there anything you feel the first gen is severely lacking which might be in the second generation. Battery isn't an issue for me as I'll happily charge everyday. Anybodu used it with a nexus 5? What is the perofrmace like? Any problems with it disconnecting?.
Any thoughts/advice greatly appreciated.
OK so I've decided I'm going to buy a second hand moto 360.
Anything in particular I need to look out for apart from general wear?

Look out for? As in things that can go wrong? Oddly enough I am on my 3rd Moto 360. The first one had a dead pixel and didnt play nice with any other Qi charger aside from the Moto one. The second one, 2 dead pixels, and yep I returned both. Sure a dead pixel isnt a HUGE deal, but on a 250.00 watch that had this issue right out of the box, I didnt agree with that. Not to mention that once I seen the single or double dead ones, I knew they were there and my eyes constantly gravitated to it! . Oddly enough, both of these were gray banded and silver watch. After waiting a few months, I decided to pick up a black one (Yay tax returns!) , and not 1 single dead pixel, and my old wireless charging mat actually works fine
So check for dead pixels and the infamous cracked back that people are reporting on theirs (which I think would come from using a different band thats not made for the 360)

Thanks for your insight! I have a 1 dead pixel on my 40 inch TV and because I know its there its probably one of the most annoying things!
I will be checking the moto 360 out later on today. It is the black one and comes with both a leather and metal strap. He currently has the metal strap fitted. Are the cracks easy to see or will i need a magnifying glass?! Are there any reports of the vibration motor not working correctly or any thing regarding software which I should check before buying?

I havent heard much about the motor crapping out and as for the cracks, just search google since they seem to vary in size. But also as I mentioned, they "seem" to stem from the use of 3rd party watch bands. I just got the official 360 black metal band to go with my black watch, and seeing how Motorola included these little plastic tabs that fit into the slots to fill in the gaps, I can see how aftermarket straps could possibly damage it.
FYI, if the metal strap that comes with the watch is the one for the Pebble watch, be prepared to have any and all hairs on your wrist ripped out!
In November I had a problem where my Moto 360 battery dropped like a rock. About 50% per hour. After a couple of days I called Motorola. Very nice folks. I have a silver Moto 360 with a grey band. They said they'd send a replacement immediately and gave me a FedEx label to return my old one. The next day my original 360 was back to normal. I decided that I'd still do the switch just in case it was a hardware issue.
The replacement 360 never came. I didn't think much of it since my original one was working fine. About a month later I got a call from Motorola saying that my replacement watch was on back order. They asked if I wanted another model. No thanks, I said, I'll just keep waiting. January, same thing. Phone call, my silver one was on backorder, would I like another one. No thanks.
Then, in February the battery burn happened again. But, went away after a reset. They called again in February but this time to tell me that my silver with grey was still back ordered. This time I asked what models they had available for replacement. The only silver one was with a metal band. More expensive? I asked. No, just a one for one replacement. Ok, I said. I'm not a fan of metal bands but I have other leather ones I can use.
It came in two days. In original store packaging with a charger. As if I just bought this at Best Buy. Included was a generic brown box to return my old one. I called and asked if they wanted the old charger, too. Nope. So, I just sent my original 360 with the watch band in the brown box. Now I have a silver metal band and a second charger.
Thanks, Motorola, for great service.
The same thing happened to me. My stainless steek moto 360 with gray band had crack on the back. I was given a runaround a few times. I had to keep calling to ask for updates. After 2 weeks I got a moto 360 replacement with matel band n got to keep the charger .
Hi, so I've seen a bunch of unboxings, but they all seem to have different stuff. What kind of stuff did you guys get in your box? (Include your carrier and country please) and if someone has a telus canadian one, that's the one I'm gonna get so..
Se europé open
Charger w cable
Manual
Quadbeat headphones
And of course phone and battery
Canadian H812
- Phone
- Battery
- Charger 1.2A
- USB cable
- Safety Booklet
- Grey Ceramic cover
- Black leather cover
This should be same for all Canadian carriers.
Dont know if this is for all markets but over in the UK, if you choose the leather back one then you get a plastic one free. With the black leather, you get the gold back and with the brown leather, you get the grey back.
