I'm looking at getting an A5 but I've seen a few things written about the GPU (Mali-T830MP3) being under powered, specifically for games but also HD video.
Does it really have issues playing video? Stuff like watching netflix and films saved to the sd card. I'm assuming that when they are talking about it not being enough for games they mean asphalt 8 rather than candy crush or angry birds?
No problems with Netflix, smooth as butter.
HD videos work just fine. I don't game though so no idea about that.
HD video is buttery smooth, I don't play games. For normal usage (browsing, video, apps) this device is a fine phone. Batterylife is just great.
4k video plays very smoothly on A5 2017. HD video is yesteryears thing.

I know this sounds a bit out of the norm...but does anyone know if there can be a 60FPS kernel for the Team Mobile G2 for HD games? I've managed to overclock my G2's CPU up to 1.8 GHZ, which definitely shows when an SD game is running (60fps constant such as N.O.V.A SD), but playing a game in HD the HD quality will drop the FPS rate to 30FPS constant, no matter how high or low I OC the CPU. The reason i'm questioning, is because HTC Evo managed to have a 60FPS kernel released..
So I have a feeling all 3d HD games for G2 are capped to 30fps, while 3d SD games and side scroller 2d games (like Angry Birds) all cap to 60FPS
Since i have my HTC One X i've been playing around with THD games and other HD games (asphalt 6 for instance). one thing i noticed is that the framerate isn't that stable, sometimes it drops around 30fps or below (even with Tegra 3 games). Is this normal behavior ? Because i would expect that Nvidia's own optimized games would run butter smooth (at least in the range of 50~60FPS constant).
Asphalt 6 HD feels more like it's being capped @ 30FPS
And yes the battery was well above 30% (more like 80~90%)
It's a known bug atm. HTC and Nvidia are working on it. Just wait for the next software update
Disappointed in the performance of the gta games on this device, i had a galaxy tab 3 for a few weeks and that seemed to get better performance in san andreas (Shadows on classic and car reflections on low) I have looked around and people are saying its not optimized on the andreno gpu. Is that true?
It could also because of such a high resolution. Even with PC, games would run hard time with that resolution.
Lower end tablets with 1024 x 600 or 720p resolution might run better than ours since we have up to 4 times the lower ends' resolution.
In my opinion this device is great for reading, media, and streaming, but not really a thing for gaming.

I don't think its the resolution because you can adjust that in san andreas to the galaxy tab 3 res and it still chugs a bit.
Have to disagree about not being a device for gaming, nova 3, modern combat 4, real racing 3, asphalt 8 are all blazing fast. Not to mention the emulators, connect a controller and you have playstation 1, n64, snes, nes, megadrive, gameboy, mame for arcade games, scummvm for all the classic point and click games, the list goes on. I think its a pretty sweet gaming machine
If you run across done good hd games post them here. The games I have been playing have very small interfaces on this qhd screen

Just do a Google search and you will find many other websites that review HD games for Android.
GTA San Andreas looks amazing on this phone. I've got the graphics turned all the way up and I'm not getting any lag. 720p and hours upon hours of game play for $4.
Hey
I just wanted to know if am i the only one facing utter framedrops after every 2 sec even on smooth graphics and extreme fps?
Is there any fix for that or the game is not optimised?
I have also tried gfx tool but no luck. Even the Pubg from galaxy store is giving ridiculous framedrops and choppy gameplay.
I play all maxed without any frame drops on my s10e. Maybe messing with gltools isnt the best idea
@op Had the same issue when I tried playing pubg on my S10+ last month. Found out that turning off dolby atmos and using wired headphones instead of bluetooth buds helped reduce framedrops. But the gameplay wasn't smooth still! Thankfully after the latest S10+ firmware update (may) the game runs smooth on high settings without much heating even after 40 minutes of gaming. I'm not sure if the game was optimized for exynos S10 (received update from tencent too) or Samsung did something to improve it in the last update, butI have no issues playing pubg on my S10+ now!
