Are you owners happy with resolution of screen? Clarity and viewing angles?
What about lack of notification light, something you miss or OK without it?
Thanks.

I'm happy with the screen resolution. For the size, it's fine and having a lower resolution saves battery.
The notification light is hardly missed with the Always on Display as it shows notification icons. If you don't plan to use the AOD then it might be an issue.
Coming from a Galaxy S4, I'm quite pleased. The only thing that bothers me is it can't read my external USB flash.

You have to buy a deticated usb c to female usb A otg. The usb c to micro usb adaptor doesnt work on micro usb otg. So you have to buy one.
Thank you. I had come to that same conclusion already but the confirmation is welcome

YES!!! I LOVE taking Macro shots and thats the one limitation of these camera phones. They can get close, but not close enough
Do you mean like a usb scope as an attachment via host or a lens over the camera? I've been thinking about trying the former lately.
Do you think the icons look dull, or not sharp? Look at the third party apps especially like, Score Mobile, Seesmic, Yahoo mail etc, I can surely say on my S2 they looked sharper than this or maybe because it has a smaller screen?
What do you think?
It's got lower ppi screen so not as sharp as other screens. My One X is noticeably sharper in everything.

With screenshots, it's little hard. With android the screenshots never come out sharp at all. Atleast not with what i've seen.
You may want to take it to the store, or have somebody check it out.
I'm requesting any kind heated person to please please upload a screenshot of his/her phone. In an image hosting website like imageshack, not in Tapa. You know it's a grand festival going on here and the shops are closed, so can't check anything physically. Please guys, it's a request.

Lower ppi doesnt matter since the Note 2 has a non-pentile display, hence its images are MUCH sharper than One X and S3
Screenshot given.
That's not a screenshot buddy, a zoomed in photo taken by a camera used in GSMArena and some other reviews. And S3 has the same resolution screen as Note 2 and it's much smaller, so things will definitely look punchier.
Anyway, still waiting for a screenshot.

I'v got the same issue but most of icons are not sharp, youtube, Google Play, but some like messages are sharp. Also images when browsing the web are not sharp. The screen looks ugly for me, colors are oversaturated also in standard mode. Screen in my Note 1 is bright and sharp, i hate my note 2 screen. I'm going to seller and will ask for replace unit.
Shoud be the task bar (the small one on the top of the screen with hour) be gray? In Note 1 and SII was black so i'm asking... Or is it JB feature?
The status bar is not Black for sure. Kinda blackish grey. And the stock icons are sharp here, no problem. And yes the images in the browser looks pretty bad actually. But all other things, like texts and all are pretty sharp.

Thanks. This further confirms my display is absolutely fine.
I don't know much about differences in screen besides what DPI and resolution is, but yesterday I was looking at some pictures and icons on my S3 and iPod 4gen and I noticed that the iPod screen was much much brighter than the S3. And because of that I was able to distinguish gradients and textures better.
So my question is, is the screen on the S3 dimmer than on purpose or is my screen defective.
-- just in case anyone was wondering I had both devices on full brightness.
--something I noticed was that if I put the iPod at half brightness, then that would be about as bright as my S3 on FULL brightness.

Did you try turning the brightness on your s3 up?
Edit: oops I see that you did. I dunno take it to a store and compare your screen to another s3.
-Sent from my GS3 running CM10.-
Yes. The screen is dimmer. Samsung cut the maximum display power to 1.3 watts allowing for a longer battery life because of how big the screen is. Also has to do with the candelas per sq inch on a screen.

Ah I see. Is there a way to maybe to make the screen brighter some how by increasing the voltage or something.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The S3 uses samoled+, which presents blacks much deeper and whites so so. This makes for brighter whites and not so deep whites on the crapples devices giving the illusion of brighter screens. Just like comparing a plasma to an LCD. Yes there is an app to make the screen brighter, and you must be rooted. Just install the app and run it, must be clicked once per boot to work as it runs a command in the interactive shell.
Thread cleaned a bit.
Always fond of this saying: "Work the problem, not each other."
Has anybody else used that apk? Does it work? I don't want to mess up my brightness levels using it. I should be able to reboot and go back to normal but still cautious about trying it.

You have to have autobrightness disabled and turn the brightness all the way down before running it. I am using it and the results are blinding !

Daydream sounds awesome. I have it displaying the clock while it's charging. My questions is, how much drainage is it doing to the battery while the screen is on?
For instance, if i had the screen completely off, I would have reached 100% in 1 hour rather than 1.5 hours since I have day dream working...?
So how much drainage?

For me it charges at the same rate with daydream on(of the wall)

What concerns me more than charging rate is screen degradation, AMOLED screens degrade over time so I wouldn't keep my screen on if I wasn't using it

Are any of the daydreams even static? I assumed that the reason the clock bounces around is to avoid things like burn-in.
The standard one is static, some of the third party ones are not. I really wouldn't worry it too much.

Check again, the standard daydream clock is not static, at least the digital one isn't.

it isn't just about burn in... amoled pixels do degrade over time like another user said, and this is a dangerous way to screw up your screen much quicker.
not a good feature to use on our phone imo
It takes a long time for that to happen there are plenty of people still rocking a Galaxy S1 and the screen is fine but I'm not saying there's no one with problems but I doubt it would mess up by using daydream
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Ya, the digital clock is not static. However, I would worry more about the navigation bar because that thing is gonna stay in landscape mode and I already got a nav bar burn-in in portrait.

depends, is it on overnight? Say you sleep 8 hours that's 8 hours extra the pixels are on per day.
Do the math, it would add up quickly
burn in only occurs when you have an static image in the same place all the time.. daydream move the clock around the screen every few seconds, and with the black background most of the pixels of the screen are off anyway.
so no, there is no danger using daydream.

I'm not talking about burn in....
do you not know about the degradation of amoled pixels over time?
you could end up with dead/stuck pixels a lot earlier than expected.
I don't know if mine is defective or not. But the color isn't pure white from what I see on the nexus 4 in videos. I think it should be the same right?
Its more of a yellowish tint?
There is no spec on the color of the light, and what the nexus 4 does is irrelevant. If it lights up at the right time it is fine.

I kinda agree with what you say, except that when you buy something "expensive", your expectations are high and you want something perfect (i don't own the nexus 7 so i don't know how should it be) but if the led isn't showing the right color, it's something to care about, though it's a small defect..
I also see what you're saying, but like the poster above me said, there is no specification on the notification light, so there isn't much you can do. Some people have notification LEDs that don't even work apparently. Since the reality is that this generation seems to be having many build quality issues, it doesn't seem like it's worth taking the chance to return it, even though OP probably can't over this issue anyway.

Mine is more eggshell white but remember its only a ~$200 tablet and LG probably uses different LEDs that may be tuned to a more brilliant white
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It's funny I didn't even know I had a notification light until one day I left my tablet sitting there and got a notification while the screen was off. So I believe it only works when when screen is off it's the only time I've seen it go off.... It's on the bottom of the screen right under the button bar (back, home, and recents button). I have been flashing ROMs, kernels, modifying my system to my liking, and trying different things so I never even noticed the light lol.
