hey guys
Yesterday I switched from the HTC Stock rom to the nightly cyanogenmod 7, latest version as of today.
Now my question:
i have the feeling that the phone is a bit slow compared to the htc stock rom (of course I have activated USB Debugging). Now my question is if it is recommended to flash another kernel.
I experience the performance loss for example on the homescreen and in the app drawer, it just doesnt feel that smooth any more... which is strange because the cyanogen mod uses the adwlauncher and I had the same launcher on the stock rom, running very smoothly.
Now is it just my immagination or am I not the only one experiencing that "problem".
I appreciate any comments
greetings from switzerland
I'm on build 12 now and find it very fast and stable. I am using adw launcher without any lag. Did you do a complete wipe before the upgrade?
As for the kernel, these are currently no kernels that work for cm7, how ever the stock kernel is very good and will overclock to 1.5ghz if you want it to.

yes I did a full wipe of the data and the cache..
It's just strange because everything was running so smooth with the stock rom and adwlauncher or launcher Pro. I even flashed the stable versoin of cm... same thing there...
You are using live wallpapers,right?

No I'm not using any of this stuff... I tried to sort out everything that may cause the performance drop but with no results..
What linpack and quadrant scores are you getting after a reboot? You should really run each one 3 times and take an average, this will let you know how slow it is (not a 100% test but it'll help)
Also might be worth having a look at "Power Tutor", it'll be able to tell you which programs are using the cpu the most, might find one that is hogging it for some reason.

How exactely do I get those scores?
//EDIT: Ok results: about 40 - 41 Mflops, Time ~2s, Norm Res 5.68, Precision 2.22etc
Have you tried downloading spare parts off the market and setting screen animations to fast, might be them that make it look like its running slower. Be Dr this I an running out off ideas, your score on Linpack is about right for a stock kernel, yet could try running setCPU and have the CPU running a little faster, I have mine running at 1.2ghz for day to day stuff.

If you are using apache14's kernel and use smartass that is your problem. If it's stock CM kernel I don't know...Try setting the governor to performance in setcpu and re-run the benchmarks.Telling us your kernel and CPU clock would help!

I have the stock kernel (as far as I know.. at least I didnt flash a new one... I just flashed the cyanogen mod) as far as the CPU goes: I dont use setcpu... how's the battery performance when u run it on 1.2 ghz?

I can usually get to the end of the day and still have about 30% left, but I an a heavy user and running the WiFi all evening, do a good 3-4 hours of browsing each day as well as other stuff.
This is not a problem for me as I charge every night. You should give it a go, if its no good return it to normal.

And you do experience a performance boost when overclocking it to 1,2 ghz?
Yes mate, I have a few profiles setup, when charging I have it set to 1.5ghz on performance, normal running is 1.2ghz on interactive and screen off set to 245mhz powersave. The phone is very fast, wakes up well and isn't doing to bad with the battery. The battery life will get better as the development of the Rom continues.

I just flashed the latest nightly build of 15 and it is just as fast as stock rom. Did not notice any slowness.
Hi,
I am running ICS 4.0.4 with Codename Android rom. I also have franco kernel installed, which I installed in an attempt to fix the following problem, so don't blame it on Mr. Francisco.
So basically the battery drains insanely at all times, including sleep time. If I go to sleep with 80% battery, in the morning, 8-9 hours after I go to sleep, the battery is empty and the device is of course off.
It started with the Codename Android rom installation. Please advise.
Does this thread look similar? If the ROM version is the same as I had listed, I was told that there is a known bug which was fixed in the latest nightly but I couldn't flash the latest nightly and hence moved off CNA.

Almost all sleep drains can be traced to apps installed .
Hi
Same problem,
My solution : Switch 2G When screen Off ( AOKP Rom / ROM Control ) and Switch Off Wifi on Screen OFF
4G and 3G Consum so much

Yes, thank you for this link. I do have RC 2.0.0. Where do I get the latest version from? And should I just change to some other rom?
I just moved out of CNA rom since the I couldn't flash the lateet nightly back then. I am currently running stock 4.0.4 with Franco kernel and am waiting for Liquid Smooth ROM 4.0.4 to be released.

This. I've also found corrupt downloads, gallery and media storage to be culprits as well. (Those experiencing high drain from os or media server can wipe the data on those apps) on a good note Facebook 1.9.2 has seemed to fix its closing issues.

The thing is, I have no new apps installed. Nothing that I didn't have installed before changing to a custom rom. Furthermore, I had a lot more apps back then.

Wipe data and see if it persists.
Don't install any apps.
So I wiped data, and battery was reduced from 74% to 29% during the night (7 hours). I couldn't find a nightly build of the rom, and the Codename Android site is not working, so I am switching to some tablet-like rom. Well I probably would have changed anyway upon discovering this sexy rom, but regardless, Codename Android 2.0.0 RC is broken atm.
So why does my phone start to lag after a day. No matter what ROM or kernel I am on, after about 20 hours my phone starts to lag. If I restart my phone all is good. Does anyone have an explanation? Is this a great 4.2.2 feature? This wasn't happening before that.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Is that even pure stock? There are several posts on this already. There isn't a genuine solution but some have suggested some ways to minimize lag on 4.2.2.

I have tried all sorts of ROMs.I will look for some of the other posts. Its just frustrating because I can get it to fly, but have to reboot 1-2 times a day.

Check your memory usage. I have this problem too - and it seems like my memory if full. Try to see what services run in the background and maybe you can stop some of them. Also look at 'Greenify' - it is an app that stops background processing for apps you don't want hanging in the background. It requires root, though.
do you use twrp? i had that problem until someone mentioned that twrp doesnt wipe completely and used cmw.

I installed greenify and will see in a day or so if it is working. Thanks for the tip.

would it be too much of apps running at the background and causing it lag?
I'm reading about this issue more and more everyday ... one solution i saw was that to install "Clean master" from Play store and clear cache with that to minimize lag i believe it only affects custom roms and not stock based roms :/
Hello everyone,
If you are not getting the OTA do the following:
Reset your watch back to factory settings.
Clear Cache/Data on the Android Wear app.
Repair the watch to the phone
.
The watch should, within a minute or two show an update. If it doesn't show an update checking for an update should also show there's one available as well.
I have had success with this method 9 times today (9 different 360s). I have also had some independent reports of the same from friends on G+ that I had test it.
If it works for you great, if not, sorry! Please report results.
Seems to be working. ..
Looking good..

Lately, my g3 hasn't been waking when needed. Usually I have to reboot in order for it to work. I'm running crdroid 7.1.2 at the moment, if that helps with diagnosis.

Try downloading 'sensor multitool' and see if your proximity sensor is working. If it is not then you know where the problem is. If it is working fine then I have no idea.
Thanks for the suggestion

I think when I updated from the June 9 version to the July 10 That's when the problems ( freezing, unable to wake) began. Have not had any problems since flashing my backup.

is that some sort of SOD (sleep of death).
I think u can play with governor settings trying to prevent the phone go sleep to deeply
There is an app for this sort of problem btw https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tckr.sodkiller&hl=it
