Insane sleep-time battery drain (Codename Android 4.0.4, franco kernel) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
I am running ICS 4.0.4 with Codename Android rom. I also have franco kernel installed, which I installed in an attempt to fix the following problem, so don't blame it on Mr. Francisco.
So basically the battery drains insanely at all times, including sleep time. If I go to sleep with 80% battery, in the morning, 8-9 hours after I go to sleep, the battery is empty and the device is of course off.
It started with the Codename Android rom installation. Please advise.

Does this thread look similar? If the ROM version is the same as I had listed, I was told that there is a known bug which was fixed in the latest nightly but I couldn't flash the latest nightly and hence moved off CNA.

Almost all sleep drains can be traced to apps installed .

Hi
Same problem,
My solution : Switch 2G When screen Off ( AOKP Rom / ROM Control ) and Switch Off Wifi on Screen OFF
4G and 3G Consum so much

Yes, thank you for this link. I do have RC 2.0.0. Where do I get the latest version from? And should I just change to some other rom?

I just moved out of CNA rom since the I couldn't flash the lateet nightly back then. I am currently running stock 4.0.4 with Franco kernel and am waiting for Liquid Smooth ROM 4.0.4 to be released.

This. I've also found corrupt downloads, gallery and media storage to be culprits as well. (Those experiencing high drain from os or media server can wipe the data on those apps) on a good note Facebook 1.9.2 has seemed to fix its closing issues.

The thing is, I have no new apps installed. Nothing that I didn't have installed before changing to a custom rom. Furthermore, I had a lot more apps back then.

Wipe data and see if it persists.
Don't install any apps.

So I wiped data, and battery was reduced from 74% to 29% during the night (7 hours). I couldn't find a nightly build of the rom, and the Codename Android site is not working, so I am switching to some tablet-like rom. Well I probably would have changed anyway upon discovering this sexy rom, but regardless, Codename Android 2.0.0 RC is broken atm.

Try to wipe data/factory reset and all that then do a fresh install. Remember to backup your contacts and use appbak to save a list of your apps.... oh & I think i read something similar to your situation over at the paranoid thread a couple days ago, go check it out. there might be a solution.

CM10.1 Nightly + Experimental

Hey guys Ive recently been using the CM10.1 Nightly roms and when the latest updates came out I of course went ahead and downloaded them. I tried both the lastest nightly and new experimental rom and what seems to be the problem is that the power button doesn't work anymore and I cannot put the phone in sleep mode anymore I either have to leave the screen on 24/7 or turn it off whenever I don't need it...
I was just wondering if anyone else is having similar issues then I can confirm its the rom that's causing the issue or if this is my phone hardware problem
This is a well documented problem in many threads... The origin of the problem is still unknown but the fix is easy. Reboot into recovery, wipe caches, fix permissions and done.
The problem will comeback after a variable number of reboots however.

What do you mean.. The screen won't timeout, or sleep. That's what this thread is regarding.. And is pretty much a deal-breaker..

FWIW, I do not have this problem at all with M2. I am using it with Wind 1.5 and the LG Adreno Driver update. It is pretty excellent actually. Battery life is a bit short of what I've gotten from CM9, but it runs like butter.

Oic, thank you. I'm going to have to figure it out and try again now..
Just dalvik wipe fixes the problem everytime for me...The damned problem keeps coming back, but at least it's only a dalvik wipe that fixes it ('Fix Permissions' takes a while).

[Q] unecplained juice loss

Hi,
I had the SE Arc S for 7 months now, overall a nice device, but what annoys me is the battery. I'm using CM9.1 (dunno if that's important) and at night with WiFi, mobile data, gps and data sync. off (according to batt. drain analyzer) it loses 7% (and some nights even 9%) per hour. I deleted G Maps and Beautiful widgets, but that didn't work. I installed watchdog, but that won't list all running apps (BetterBatteryStats reports A LOT more). Any idea what causes this?

no, I noticed that using a lot of battery instead I'm using Friendcaster

Had a similar problem with CM10. Never came up before, don't know why it cropped up now. Once instance, had as much as a 40% battery loss overnight. Wi-Fi off, Bluetooth off, Data off. Nothing discernible to drain the battery. Thought the kernel might be at fault, so switched kernels, yet no resolution to the issue. The battery kept winding down, as if something were sucking its life out. Reflashed the ROM, things went stable for a day or two, but then the problem resurfaced. Switched over to ICS, and the problem has, since, gone. Wouldn't want to point the finger at CM (in fact, there are many users using it without any problems), but would love to have some idea as to what the problem might've been. Was really enjoying Jelly Bean; nice and smooth. Shame this problem had to surface.
I have ICS (android 4.0.4),am considering Pac ROM, to circumvent this problem, will that help, any experience?
oow, confused here, is ICS a rom like CM9.1?
Still, wil ditching CM9.1 in favor of PacROM help you think?
ICS = ice cream sandwich, its android v4.
No idea since ive never used pacman but have you reverted to stock?

Try to reinstall the rom, but first make a backup of your apps using Titanum Backup, or flash another kernel, or change your rom.

[Q] battery life is horrible!

.. ever since I updated to JB 4.2.2 (I even did _FULL_ wipe/reset) it seems like my batter goes so quickly its not even funny(( I get roughly about ~4h on battery / ~1h of screen time, I'm using STOCK ROM w/ STOCK launcher w/ latest leankernel (BestBalance profile).
i installed BBS and I'm unable to see anything that's doing something that it shouldn't, at this point I dont know what else to do(
please help!

try installing wakelock detector i would recommend possibly changing kernel i would ecomend franco's kernel for battery saving or AK SKL243 that sounds like a bad app somewhere
Like kevtrysmoddin stated, try flashing a new kernel but I wouldn't limit it to franco's as a kernels performance varies phone to phone. You mentioned you were running a stock ROM, but which one?

I'm using latest lean kernel (6.5/3.0.76), BBS can see all wakelocks, I'll post few dumps later on.

I'm not looking for super advanced features. I'm using stock Rom and stock launcher without any mods other then lean kernel.

May also want to take a look at the governor that you are using with your kernel. For me, ondemand gives best performance (battery wise) with lean kernel.
I checked it's interactive/deadline.

I'm on AOSPA 3.16 with franco.Kernal 376 and with average use (gaming, social, a lot of music, etc.) I get roughly 10 hours with stock battery and roughly 14 hours with 1900 mAh battery.
Switch to PA, flash AK kernel, download CPU Master, and set profiles.

Don't listen to anyone telling you to install a custom ROM. Fully charge your phone boot into SAFE MODE and see how long your battery lasts. If it lasts way more, it is a third party app that is draining your battery.

I'm _NOT_ switching away from stock ROM nor launcher, a lot of people out there using this phone all STOCK!
so is there any solution for stock users to do something about it? I actually did rooted my phone and installed leanKernel but that's as far as I'll go w/out changing ROM/launcher.

Poor battery life all of а sudden.

Rooted wifi version with slimkat rom and Franco kernel. Guys hello, so I have bought nexus December. First months okay. All is fine but recently it got strange in battery department. I can barely squeeze 4 hours of screen time. I got everything in terms of background apps running. No drops of the tablet or hits or anything. Brightness is at 15/20 percent all time. Should I blame the rom?Should I flash other rom or go to default software and return it since it's under warranty. I never read any complains bout my problem over Internet so I'm asking here. Before games would run 4/5 hours screen time now 2 hours max and no matter what I do battery just drops steadily. I ve done reset day ago. No wake locks, no background apps running iv been and know this scenarios.
P. S
sorry for English

I posted a similar problem in the general section, hopefully 4.4.3 will help with this, but if its just you and me, then maybe its slimkat, cus thats what im running also....
Do you have the deb or the flo?
&
What are you using to identify which apps are running in the background (i.e. an app)?
If it's not a rogue application or wakelock, I would probably try flashing a different kernel and test it out for a couple days. If your problem persists, I would flash stock and use it for a week. I always recommend flashing to stock so you can get a reliable baseline to compare it too. If you are on stock and still exhibit the same problem, I would play the warranty card.
That's at least what I would do.
