Hi,
I had the SE Arc S for 7 months now, overall a nice device, but what annoys me is the battery. I'm using CM9.1 (dunno if that's important) and at night with WiFi, mobile data, gps and data sync. off (according to batt. drain analyzer) it loses 7% (and some nights even 9%) per hour. I deleted G Maps and Beautiful widgets, but that didn't work. I installed watchdog, but that won't list all running apps (BetterBatteryStats reports A LOT more). Any idea what causes this?
Is Facebook app installed?

no, I noticed that using a lot of battery instead I'm using Friendcaster

Had a similar problem with CM10. Never came up before, don't know why it cropped up now. Once instance, had as much as a 40% battery loss overnight. Wi-Fi off, Bluetooth off, Data off. Nothing discernible to drain the battery. Thought the kernel might be at fault, so switched kernels, yet no resolution to the issue. The battery kept winding down, as if something were sucking its life out. Reflashed the ROM, things went stable for a day or two, but then the problem resurfaced. Switched over to ICS, and the problem has, since, gone. Wouldn't want to point the finger at CM (in fact, there are many users using it without any problems), but would love to have some idea as to what the problem might've been. Was really enjoying Jelly Bean; nice and smooth. Shame this problem had to surface.
I have ICS (android 4.0.4),am considering Pac ROM, to circumvent this problem, will that help, any experience?
oow, confused here, is ICS a rom like CM9.1?
Still, wil ditching CM9.1 in favor of PacROM help you think?
ICS = ice cream sandwich, its android v4.
No idea since ive never used pacman but have you reverted to stock?

Try to reinstall the rom, but first make a backup of your apps using Titanum Backup, or flash another kernel, or change your rom.

Have you tried installing current widget to see what is exactly happening, or how much voltage is going through your phone, even though it's sleeping? (ie, screen off)
I have not tried yet

This happened to me a few times (with almost no apps running) on RC7. Updating to 2.01 seems to have fixed that for me.
If that doesn't help, try using a different kernel and/or a different radio version and see if that works for you (we're reduced to experimentation as nobody has ben able to determine what exactly causes this issue).
I'm well impressed with mine. I went to bed with it fully charged, used it a bit in bed, always play a game and check the forums. Not plugged in at all and woke up this morning and its still fully charged!!
Amazing, since I have yahoo messenger running always. Been using it a lot since I woke up and now on 96% but I know its mainly the screen that uses a lot.
Brilliant ROM tbh
See if this helps:

well it's not really going to save your battery life, it just lets you see when/how the battery is being used up
Yes we can atleast know what apps are eating our battery.

In the whole night it eats only 4% battery
Oxygen 2has some big fault it drains battery for some people.
But its modrators are not ready to accept it.
But its a bug.

I have RC1 and my better life is terrible. Gotta figure out why.
All of a sudden I've been getting less battery life. When looking at the programs that are using the battery most, Maps has been near the top of the list. The thing is, it does this even when not using the maps app at all. I've tried force closing, but still pulls CPU and drains the battery.
Running Blazer 4.1
Thanks

I used to have that same problem, try uninstalling the updates on Maps and turning your GPS off until you need it. Hope this helps.

I learned latitude was giving me the battery drain. Go into it and open up the settings and make sure you're opted out of the location updates and signed out. It helped a lot.
No matter which ROM i choose wether its 2.3 based or 4.0 based, Calks or Phantom. Even CM9, Team Dirt. I always get crap battery life. ANDROID OS and ANDROID SYSTEM hog the battery!!! Why is this. The only thing that has not changed will i have been flashing all these roms is the Modem. I am currrently running FF18 Modem. Could this be the culprit? Please help guys!
The android os usage in ICS is normal. What do you consider bad battery life?
So many things affect battery life. Low signal will wipe out a battery in no time, synching multiple accounts (email, facebook is notoriously bad...) and software you may have installed. How is the battery drain when the phone is sleeping? Since there really isn't much we can do about battery while you're actually using the phone, the next step is to improve on sleep efficiency and this will help the battery life overall.
Try installing BetterBatteryStats. There is a thread here on XDA you can search for and download and install this app. The best way to use it is to let the phone sleep on battery without using it for a minimum of 2-3 hours, overnight is best. Then view the kernel and partial wakelocks to see if something isn't allowing the phone to sleep properly.
battery battery life?
Couldn't you also use multiple profiles in an OC app to undervolt and underclock the phone when it sleeps? (screen off profile set to 800MHz and screen on 1200MHz) Just a suggestion, hope this helps.
I have to charge my phone twice a day because I am on it all the time. My ave battery life 11hr 47min. Running Badass Battery Monitor.
Turn off auto sync for your Google account on your phone and manually sync it from time to time. Before I did this android was at the top of the list in the battery. Now screen time dominates everything else in usage.

Yes I did this too, it helps a lot
Yes, synching too often is a killer.
Don't forget about the phone radio too: wifi/bluetooth/gps/data/4G all can have a negative impact if left running.
Someone recently posted that at his workplace, he had zero signal and he could barely make it through the day. He discovered turning data off entirely in that scenario saved battery in a huge way.

Hi everyone,
I got my Nexus 7, so I thought I could ease on the HOX a bit, but I found that something is still running rampant in the backgroundm but I can't find what it is, even using GSam Battery Monitor. Screen has only been on for 25 minutes, and already at 43%!
I used the HOX as mobile hotspot this morning in the train, when I arrived at work, it had 80% left. Rest of the day I only used it for the occasional whatsapp. It's not even closing time for work now, and it's close to 40%, so something is eating the battery, but I can;t find what!
See enclosed screenshots, I would love to hear some advice!
Kernel, but who knows why?
Also, your crappy mobile signal on the way to work when you had no WiFi... It didn't like that much.
yeah I can get into that, but I don't get why, at the last part, the screen isn't turned on, but it the kernel is switched on ALL the time, I guess something must be running rampant in the background. I've just started going to apps and force stopping a lot of things to be sure...
Try using watchdog, it tells you which app which above threshold, gsam never tells u what the kernel was upto. U can also try better battery stats and check kernel wake locks.
ViperX Goodness
Thanks, I hadn't heard of watchdog yet, installed it! I will buy better battery stats when things get really out of hand

wow ur batt drain seems to be bad...is unrooted?
Rooted wifi version with slimkat rom and Franco kernel. Guys hello, so I have bought nexus December. First months okay. All is fine but recently it got strange in battery department. I can barely squeeze 4 hours of screen time. I got everything in terms of background apps running. No drops of the tablet or hits or anything. Brightness is at 15/20 percent all time. Should I blame the rom?Should I flash other rom or go to default software and return it since it's under warranty. I never read any complains bout my problem over Internet so I'm asking here. Before games would run 4/5 hours screen time now 2 hours max and no matter what I do battery just drops steadily. I ve done reset day ago. No wake locks, no background apps running iv been and know this scenarios.
P. S
sorry for English

I posted a similar problem in the general section, hopefully 4.4.3 will help with this, but if its just you and me, then maybe its slimkat, cus thats what im running also....
Do you have the deb or the flo?
&
What are you using to identify which apps are running in the background (i.e. an app)?
If it's not a rogue application or wakelock, I would probably try flashing a different kernel and test it out for a couple days. If your problem persists, I would flash stock and use it for a week. I always recommend flashing to stock so you can get a reliable baseline to compare it too. If you are on stock and still exhibit the same problem, I would play the warranty card.
That's at least what I would do.
