For owners of LGD855-V10m-ISR firmware - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know it says LGD855 but this is a LGD850 firmware. The best, clean firmware for KitKat.
And I know that a lot of you with this firmware tried to flash custom recovery TWRP for D855 and got in fastboot mode instead...
If you still have this problem and your phone was on this(LGD855-V10m-ISR) firmware, you should flash a custom recovery for d850 and not d855.
But I want to ask owners of LGD855-V10m-ISR or past owners of this firmware that never replaced their version of LAF partition, that means you never flashed another stock firmware, you could flash custom rom but never a stock rom, becuase custom rom usually dosn't replace LAF partition... so could you please backup your LAF.img partition and share it here?
I still own this firmware, I can access custom Recovery mode but I lost download mode because I accidentally messed up my LAF partition.
The only way to access download mode now is to boot another LAF partition in fastboot mode, because if I flash it i get boot certification verification error...
Thanks.

I know you asked this ages ago, bit...
I have the LGD855-V10m-ISR, with TWRP recovery for the D850. I've done a basic backup, and I'll gladly send you the LAF.img, but I don't know where to find it!
Also, may I ask you, should I flash custom ROMs for the D855 or the D850? I'm afraid I'll brick it!
Thanks,
dapeg

[Q] I guess I softbricked my phone?

It keeps loading into fastboot after I tried to flash a "bumped" lollipop zip. I can get into download mode. I barely know these terms and am not savvy with all this flashing business at all. If someone could guide me like a child, I would very much appreciate it.
Okay, so I finally got into my custom recovery. I don't know what to do to fix this though. Do I find another .zip to install?
How did you get into recovery?
Not to be "that guy" but we have several guides how to root and flash before doing it, so you don't ruin your phone.
We need to know what version you were on, and Tue ROM you tried to flash. Its possible you skipped steps and soft bricked
Its going into fastboot mode because the kernel you flashed with that rom is not for our phone. It could be as easy as flashing the d851 boot.img to fix. But since you can get into recovery why not flash a d851 rom and be done with it? You're not using the bump twrp are you? We don't need bump.

[Q] US990 converted to LS990 calls work but no data

As the title says, I converted a US990 to a LS990 and then flashed Cloudy G3 1.2 for the LS990.
Calls work on both AT&T and T-Mobile but I can not get data to connect for either network.
I have put in the correct APN settings and changed the network around from GSM only to LTE only as well as all the others but nothing will let me get data.
I have tried different basebands/modems from the US990 and LS990.
I also flashed modems from all the other G3 variations but still no data.
Only the ZV4 & ZV6 modems from the LS990 allow calls to work.
I do not want to put the instructions for how to do the conversion unless I can get data working.
Anyone have any ideas?
Can you post your steps of how you converted a US990 to LS990
Noones gonne be able to help you if we dont know what you did...
I did not want to post these instructions because I knew people would start making bricks. I am done with this.
So I am thinking that this conversion can be made simple by flashing cloudy g3 for the LS990 to the US990 and then flashing the ZV4 or ZV6 modem from the LS990.
Could you please let me know if that works? I am trying to figure out if this US990 is worth keeping or just selling at a loss on eBay.
please upload nandroid
Abu Siona said:
This is true. I just did not want a bunch of people trying to convert the phone and then be stuck not being able to fully use it.
I will keep it simple for now then and there may be an easier way to do this.
I rooted the phone and installed TWRP.
I had a nandroid back up for an LS990 that I restored to the US990.
I used a restore because whenever I tried to install a rom that was meant for an LS990 it would fail and corrupt the system partition. This would lead to needing to either restore the US990 from a Twrp back up or using a KDZ to get the phone working again.
The reason that I even tried this is because the US990 system board is labeled as an LS990. Makes me think that the hardware is identical.
After the nandroid restore the phone lost its ability to boot to the system and started in fastboot mode. it still had download mode too so I used an LS990 ZV4 tot and flashed the tot using LG Flash too. It booted straight up after the tot flash and was now an LS990.
I proceeded to root and install cloudy G3 1.2 for the LS990 from a nandroid.
I had to use a nandroid to install because the phone has a bad touch screen and I can not run the aroma installer from TWRP to finish installing the cloudy rom.
Dark unicorn was also installed from a nandroid back up because it will fail to install on the US990 even after the conversion causing the system partition to become corrupted.
At this point calls worked. I did not try to send or receive a text yet.
Calls also worked with the dark unicorn lollipop rom for GSM on the LS990 but again no working data.
Using T-Mobile my network connection is UMTS at best but no data working
Using AT&T I get HSPA but no data working.
I tried different modems but nothing helped. Only the LS990 modems were able to get calls using sim cards from AT&T and T-mobile.
It looses a signal if I switch to 2G only and LTE only but works good on GSM only and WCDMA only as well as the variations that include multiple connections like GSM and WCDMA.
When I did the first restore using the LS990 back up I forgot to remove the EFS partition and so my ESN got changed. I had to fix it.
This is pretty much where i am right now with the phone. It is fully recognized as an LS990 by flashtool and PC.

I second that.
I actually made a LS990 Nandroid backup, restored and no help. Flashing Cloudy 1.3 while selecting LS990 gave same results as restoring LS990 nandroid backup. In both cases, I had to restore the device back to stock using US990 kdz. Also, don't use US99020a firmware to restor as TWRP won't work on that, though root is possible.
I tried CM12.1 Unofficial which was released last week as well but that does not unlock the device either.
Don't know where I'm wrong, do I need to backup EFS as well?

I restored the US990 back to stock and started from scratch. I got it working again without using the nandroid this time.
From a stock US990 I rooted and installed TWRP for the US990.
I installed cloudyfa G3 1.2 for the LS990.
I deleted the LAF partition to get into fastboot mode.
I flashed the following from ZV4 LS990:
fastboot flash aboot aboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash dbi dbi.img
fastboot flash factory factory.img
fastboot flash misc misc.img
fastboot flash modem modem.img
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot flash PrimaryGPT PrimaryGPT.img
fastboot flash rct rct.img
fastboot flash rpm rpm.img
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.img
fastboot flash tz tz.img
Thanks to autoprime for hosting the LG partitions.
After the partitions were flashed I was back to working calls and text using my GSM sim but still no data.
If you have unknown baseband after flashing cloudy G3, then you will need to flash back to stock using an LS990 ZV4 tot and then root, install TWRP for LS990 and then install cloudy again to get the baseband to stick.
One of the most important things here is the modem. Only ZV4 and ZV6 from the LS990 will allow the GSM hack to work. And I have had the unknown baseband if I flash cloudy on any LS990 other than ZV4.
I will need to make a new nandroid. I will make one from the US990 that I already have working on GSM and post a link when done but you will still need to flash at least the modem from LS990 ZV4 to get it to work.

Sorry, I am on a fairly slow connection and it's still uploading. I guess there is another response to this thread and nandroid backup might not be needed anymore. Let me know if you still wnated me to upload and I'll try again.
Thanks!
Here are both the nandroid and LS990 ZV4 partitions.
The nandroid is LS990 cloudy G3 1.2 backed up from the US990 with working GSM.
It includes only the system and boot.
Nandroid: https://mega.co.nz/#!3A83nRoJ!R2dV_LSlbp13ZOjhTPCoyeD8lre_psbiA6_2JRF7fV0
LS990 partitions: https://mega.co.nz/#!LVEgnAAB!sOfUHLw-CGOeHxFbYMuyhA0NEJR3xC4UsXli1nxx3Lg
There is a flash.bat in the partitions folder. it only flashes the partitions that I mentioned. It does not flash recovery.

Thanks a ton for this! I am kinda lost on deleting LAF and getting in to fastboot as after I flashed Cloudy 1.3 with boot.img removed, all I can get in to with holding Volume up is download mode and not fast boot.
Also, are the partitions supposed to be flashed using fastboot? Please provide instructions.
TIA!

yes the partitions need to be flash in fastboot.
How to for fastboot on the G3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/how-to-boot-lg-g3-fastboot-mode-t3087445
After deleting the laf partition, you get into fastboot in the same way as getting into download mode.
Use the root method that works for your phone.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm stuck with writing PrimaryGPT and rct. It keeps saying failed partition table doesn't exists and file size too large, respectively for those two files.
I'm gonna restore it back to US99010a and start from scratch.

Also, the phone now boots into MiniOS-ATT-Test Tool and appears to be a D851 now. I am super confused as I have been noticing that on the back of the phone it has D851 written on it too along with US990. Do you think I should try flashing D851 partitions instead of LS990?

Yeah the mini os. Forgot about that one. After it boots to mini push and hold the power button. then after the first test passes scroll down a bit and select normal boot while still holding the power button.
As far as flashing back to US990 goes, you would need to flash a US990 nandroid and maybe some of the partitions to get flashtool to see the phone as a US990. Right now you may be able to flash the LS990ZV4 KDZ and then proceed to install cloudy.

the D851 is only on some of the parts because LG uses them in different models. I flashed D851 modems to the phone and none worked. The phone lost baseband and I had to flash it back to an LS990 Modem.

Back to stock...but no download mode!!!

Well, I´m on Cloudy 2.5, rooted and with TWRP. The thing is that, since 3-4 weeks ago, it´s impossible to get detected my LGG3 by different PCs, and i tried with different USB cables too...I install all kind of drivers too without results.
I´m thinking maybe it´s telephone micro USB what isn´t working, so i want to send my mobile to LG Technical Support, but i have to put all things back to stock to use warranty. I can´t go into download mode, so i can´t use flashtools to flash KDZ or TOT.
So other option is to flash a stock (.ZIP) rom from TWRP and then use flashify to install a stock recovery.img. Will this work to have a stock mobile and send it to LG?
If there were any option to flash a stock rom form TWRP, included stock recovery would be great, but i think is not possible.
SUMMARY: I need to go back to stock to use warranty, but using only TWRP or other apps like flashify...download mode and phone detection in PC impossible for now
Thank you in advance!!!
you need a full stock kdz file and download mode as far as I know...
f400 download mode doesnt work
Please help i have f400k and my phone stucked. I cant get into download mode. Please help.
I tried everything...but I still have "unknown device" on my computer...
There is no way to come back to stock for LG Technical Service? Maybe with a bumped rom flashed from TWRP and unrooted? Or LG T.S. will realize and i coulnd´t use my warranty?
OK...i only want to come back to stock to use warranty with LG service, but I have no download mode, so I´m thinking other method...will be possible this????
1.- Flash using TWRP a stock .ZIP kitkat rom
2.- Download a stock recovery 10A. (recovery.img)
3.- Finallly, flash stock recovery.img using flashify
will this work? is it possible to use flashify to restore stock recovery.img ?
If i could do that, i will recover my warranty again

E980 Problem & Need Help

I have E980 that has secure boot error, and it boots into CWM 6.0.4.4 . However, it cant read / mount external , so i cant flash anything from microSD.
So, how do I upgrade to TWRP 2.8.7.0 and flash Slim LP ( is this latest and best ROM for this device ? ) TIA
PS : does sideloading the twrp recover work ?
There was a flashable zip of TWRP somewhere in TWRP thread, but generally, best way would be to simply flash it via flashify. You can always try to flash roms from internal SD or via sideload, but I'm not sure that old CWM will work with newer zips - it wasn't working well even back in Kitkat days, not now.
You can always flash Philz CWM, and use it as a starting point, and update to TWRP as soon as possible. Not that there is much going on for this device.

So , what is the best approach to fix it ? LG Flash stock KK kdz , re-root , flashify twrp , then flash LP ROM ? TIA

Best approach would be to flash stock Jellybean, then root, install busybox, flash TWRP (can't remember if you have to flash one from FreeGee first and then update, last time I did a full reflash was long time ago), do a NAND backup and flash whatever you like after that, because half of our stuff is based on JB, even recoveries won't read KitKat partitions scheme well (kitkat has different modem partitions compared to jellybean so there is always a possibility you won't be able to backup and restore EFS, or you'll get a partial backup, because there are 3 EFS partitions).
Once you flash on Jellybean base, no further changes are necessary.
problems !!!

I got another problem while trying the LG flash tool stock ATT V20 tot file ( cant find kdz for E980 ) . I followed the guide , downloaded all necessary files, phone can be put into download mode . However, it wont show COM/Port in my laptop and show no device list in adb shell . It cant be driver problem becuz I tried to reinstall a few times and other phones can be detected fine in adb shell . Any idea ?
PS: Phone shows a yellow mark USB Composite device instead of LGE mobile com/port though .

You need LG's unified driver installed. Also, make sure that you have E980 (there are 5+ variants, all differences in firmware). Probably it would be best to download firmware according to IMEI.

Like i said i got proper driver installed and recognized by my other LG devices. I got it resolved now . The issue is with USB 3.0 . You have to use USB 2.0 for the LG Flash Tool and driver to work properly. This is also stated in the other threads . Thanks again
