[Q] I guess I softbricked my phone? - T-Mobile LG G3

It keeps loading into fastboot after I tried to flash a "bumped" lollipop zip. I can get into download mode. I barely know these terms and am not savvy with all this flashing business at all. If someone could guide me like a child, I would very much appreciate it.

Okay, so I finally got into my custom recovery. I don't know what to do to fix this though. Do I find another .zip to install?

How did you get into recovery?

Not to be "that guy" but we have several guides how to root and flash before doing it, so you don't ruin your phone.
We need to know what version you were on, and Tue ROM you tried to flash. Its possible you skipped steps and soft bricked

Its going into fastboot mode because the kernel you flashed with that rom is not for our phone. It could be as easy as flashing the d851 boot.img to fix. But since you can get into recovery why not flash a d851 rom and be done with it? You're not using the bump twrp are you? We don't need bump.

What were you running before and what were you trying to restore? IF YOU ARE ON 4.3 Touchwiz or were and updated the bootloader, DO NO FLASH ANYTHING IN ODIN unless it does not contain a BOOTLOADER. If you do so, the only thing to flash would be a previous version and with the new bootloader, you cannot downgrade that part as it would BRICK your phone. Flash the rom from recovery all day long.

[Recovery] Stock Odin Flashable

]So I was stuck in a hard place and needed a recovery fix and couldn't find one... I stumbled across an .Img file so u converted it to a .tar file and shall share in hopes that people who make the mistake as I did don't have to go the the grueling process of flashing all the way back to mk2 and lose everything that they currently had and starting over
Download = https://www.dropbox.com/s/mx1933wuc...short route to recover from such a situation.

Maybe this is very commendable, but maybe not. What phone do you have? What rom did you have to begin with? What firmware was this image file made from? Basically, you need to be much more specific if you're actually trying to help some other people.

Can you Be more Specific
Which recovery is this . I downloaded it and the file is only 10.5kb . Its a really small file .. also my bootloader is locked so if i flash this in odin . I most likely will get a fail or a paper weight ...

it's simply the mk2 stock recovery img; incase you tried to custom flash a recovery (which has been proven to fail) and the bootloader kicks you out (non-safestrap recovery like actual recovery recovery)
...i apologize for not being more specific.
i was in a jam at work when i tried to flash custom clockworkmod recovery to my main recovery via safestrap and got bootlooped due to our locked bootloader. I found the recovery.img file under some thread and i formatted it to work with odin; flashed it to my device an SGH-i337 and it allowed me to boot back up normally. so for me it was a safe haven, and im just trying to help others who tend to experiment even when told not to.

Right on ...Thanks man .. Yeah this will help .. I had it happen when falshing a rom and i lost safestrap and was stuck in a boot loop ..So this would be very helpful in that case ..I wish this would be for NB1 or NC1 ..Especially since there is a root method for 4.4 usinf towelroot

Please help me out... I somehow ended up softbricking my device. An I cant find any working links so i can flash using odin..
What bootloader version is on the phone? I recommend not flashing anything that tries to change the bootloader or modem until you confirm at least the bootloader version.

I really need help with the file to flash... none of the links are working.. I need help bad guys... An another if I ever do get this file Am I going to have to repartion or flash in pit?
Im ready to throw this phone out.. This shouldnt have to be this hard. Who would of thought If you messed up and soft brick your phone. There would be no way of undoing this cuz theres no ****ing working links anywhere or people just dont want to help. This is a joke.
This is my only phone.. It just sucks i cant find anyworking links. What did you guys do when you softbrick with no links? An when I do flash this file if I ever get it... I just put it in pda then flash in odin?

Fixed see link if you have the same problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068&page=73 or message me if ANYONE needs any help. Your ATT unbricking boss!!
Unbricking is not required if you can get into download mode.
In download mode, just flash TWRP or Philz Touch, boot to recovery, and flash a custom ROM. Flash supersu from recovery for root access.
Everythings taken care of already, thanks though// =]

Remember to be polite when posting .......... to answer the TWRP Question ....... going forward TWRP is really the only stable recovery program for 4.XX the CWM has issues on many devices in Jellybean forward....... FYI
2nd thing most of the comments helping you are correct. The worst case scenario is in a hard brick you would need a Jtag to get into download mode ..... but if you can without it there is always a fix .......
One other thing .....going from JB to KK the bootloader is different framework so, there is a special flash for upgrading to that the 1st time be informed...... FYI

Return to Stock from SuperZen

Hi All,
Apologies if I am asking the same question others have in the past I am just wanting to make certain I am following the correct steps.
My Zenfone has an unlocked bootloader, SSJs TWRP and is rooted with the SuperZen R15 firmware.
I am wanting to return to stock recovery and stock unrooted system. Can I just ADB sideload the latest ASUS firmware via TWRPs advanced option or are there other steps I need to take first? Do I need to unroot this firmware first or will the sideload sort all of that out for me?
Hope my question makes sense!
Thanks everyone!
Hi again everyone.
I just tried and the process was successful. For anyone interested I followed the following steps.
1. Unroot via SuperSU
2. Fastboot flash recovery, boot and droidboot images
3. ADB sideload full rom from Asus website using stock recovery
All of these steps have instructions or tutorials on this site and others.
Hope this helps anyone looking for this info.
Where can I get the recovery, boot, and droidboot images?

Same steps for cm12? I just want to get back to stock i'm sick of playing around with a alpha firmware at the moment. I've already wasted a good portion of my day off. Will this get rid of white boot screen
Yeah maybe, you can always try.
I don't think it will remove the white boot screen, you would have to flash the black one before removing TWRP.

Please help!!!

Hello guys, I need help. I have the American model phone. The one that ends in the number 24. I did something last week by mistake not paying attention which caused my phone to update. Afterwards I had no software and could only boot in to recovery. Iat this point before buying another one. Is there a way to get factory image for the American model. I sent the phone to honor and they sent it rite back because it was rooted. Lol... I can still boot in to twrp. Any help would be helpful.

As long as twrp is working then , seems possible to be "easy" fix. But you know how that goes.
I prefer to understand to full process of how something broke, before suggesting how to fix it.
But I would say hwota or hurupdater are the go-to tools to fix most return to stock problems.
If the "update" that got you broken was a magisk update, then there was a bunch of problems with this, and the fox was to flash stock kernel back to phone .this seemed to fix it most of the time.
HWOTA fixed my problem and got me back to stock EMUI 8.

If u have stock recovery u just need to flash stock rom. If u have a custom recovery u can flash any rom. If u have to flash stock then use an img flashing program to flash a recovery.img file of the twrp install then reboot into that recovery and install a custom rom.
