Hey Guys,
my phone keeps telling me, that i have no internet over wifi. And when I start Apps (Google Play Store, Youtube or non Google-Apps) I do not get any internet connection. But most times, I have internet via the browser.
I went back from a rooted phone to plain stock. But the failure is still here...
What I recognized: When I connect the phone to wifi, it shows several seconds an "X". After about 20 seconds it dissapeares. I never had that before. So i tried to google it and found out that a "Wifi Keeper" should work. I installed the "Best Wifi Keeper" App and said, "Keep Wifi enabled". Interestingly, after about 20 Min, it always shows an Error and says "Wifi can't be activated". So it looks like the Wifi deactivates itselves (It on "Always On" in setting") but the icon shows that it is connected. Even rebooting the phone sometimes doesn't help...
Do you have any idea?
Thanks
Okay, now i found smth new
ONLY google.com works. Nothing else, as long as i am in a wifi. Mobile Data is fine... All other devices work, several wifis tested... What is wrong with that phone ????

I came around a problem with Youtube app from Google and wifi. Everytime I try to load some video, it just disconnects from wifi at same point, sometimes instantenously, sometimes after 15 minutes, and connects to mobile plan, even when wifi is avaiable. No other app does that. And what bugs me most is the fact, that the phone cannot see that wi-fi hotspot afterwards, even thought it is still running and other devices see it fine. It just says Out of reach. I have to restart that wi-fi hotspot and then my phone is able to see that wifi again. What could be the culprit here?
I am using stock .62 rom and kernel with root privilages. But the problem occured even before rooting. Thanks for the help.
Hi all
Seem to have a wifi or network problem.
I'm running ARHD 20.1 and have noticed lately that my wifi connection just seems to stop randomly when connected to the internet.
When I say stop I mean it still shows full signal on the wifi but just lose all network connectivity. web pages time out, play store times out, youtube times out and local connections time out. But it still shows my wifi is connected to my router and it still shows full signal.
Once it stops the only way I can reconnect is to turn wifi off and on again.
I normally have wifi turned on all the time.
Funny thing is it only seems to happen when i've been browsing for a few minutes, I can always access the internet the 1st time I try so its not disconnecting when i'm not using it
This has just started happening over the last few days and prior to this everything was fine.
I've tried reloading the Rom and Boot.img but its still doing it.
Any idea's?
Stu
Try to flash an other kernel like xm
If don't work, try to change the rom and see if that rom have this bug.
Hi All,
I am still lumbering on with an old HTC Desire running CM 7.07282011-Nightly and have had no real issues up until a couple of days ago.
Whilst in France (not that that make a lot of difference) the Wi-Fi access stopped working and the phone stopped being able to see any Wi-Fi networks. Basically, it switches itself off after around 30 seconds and cannot pick up any networks. In addiiton, the WiFi MAC address shows as unavailable although teathering via a WiFi hotspot works fine. I was switch between teather and normal Wi-Fi when the problem occurred.
If I go into Settings --> Wireless and Networks -->WiFi setting, then switch on the Wi-Fi, I get the "Turning on" message but then a Sorry warning saying "Application Settings (in process com.andriod.settings is not responding" and I can either "force a close" or "wait". If I wait, the Wi-Fi will simply switches itself off after about 30 seconds.
I did read in another post that this might be to do with the Wi-Fi sleep status but I tried all 3 options (from the menu in the Wi-Fi setting page) but that didn't do anything.
The issue appears to be that that phone has lost the Wi-Fi adaptors MAC address (says unavailable). However, I can still use Wireless Tethering and connect to to the phones WiFi hotspot. I think something has go screwy with the Wi-Fi tethering and Wi-Fi access (as I was switching between both when on my travels), but I need some help in trying to fix it.
Any Help Welcome
Chris
I tried updating to cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-bravo (whuch was the last release version), but still no joy.
Any help welcome
Well, after trying pretty much everything, I had to run a factory reset on the phone. Finally, my Wi-Fi is working again. Of course I now have the ball aching job of setting the phone up and re-installing all my apps again. Google restore is pretty rubbish
Looks like there must have been a config setting that got screwed somewhere. I did take a backup of the ROM and if anyone knows where this might be resolved, I wouldn't mind restoring.
It's really odd, when i set the "keep wifi on during sleep" to never and turn off the screen till the wifi is off and then turn on the screen again, it says that the wifi is off but the internet is actually working, im even not able to enable/disable the wifi setting when this occurs, i tried resetting my phone but it didnt work? is this a hardware issue? should i take it to store and ask them to fix it (still got a few weeks of my warranty left)?
Is internet connection made by data cell phone? (eg. 3g)
That way you will still have internet, but Wifi is off.
If not, did you try a reboot?
Sometimes the wifi on my device looks 'stuck' too, not being able to change it correctly. After a reboot everything is well then.
if your on 4.3 or 4.4 there is an option "scan for wifi (even when wifi is off). disable that. although im guessing you already have.
2nd bet is Mobile Data... though. if your actually on wifi. go into your router. it will say all the connected users on your wifi.
Is anyone else having WiFi issues? Like my phone won't connect to public WiFi like at McDonald's or Kohl's or any place I open the WiFi settings pick their WiFi and right away it says 'failed to connect'. Even at my house it'll connect and after awhile nothing will load. Facebook, websites they just keep showing that their loading but never do. I have reboot to get it to work, and I'm on stock everything.

I'm having this part. Every now and then, especially when I leave my home wifi range for a bit then come back, the wifi will connect, but websites. email, etc will load forever and never get anywhere. I find that I don't need to reboot the phone entirely though. I just have to disable Wifi and then reenable it again. After that, everything will work correctly, but it's still not supposed to do this.
I have tried cycling the router's power several times, and it never fixes it. It's all phone related for me. Other than this though, everything else seems to work fine except for text messages occasionally taking forever to send (another issue for another thread).
I've tried rebooting the router but it does nothing. When things won't load on my phone my sisters phone works fine. Its just this phone.

Hmm, we could try some troubleshooting steps.
1.) Go to Setings>Networks>Wi-fi>Advanced Wifi
-Make sure "Internet unavailable" setting is unchecked under notifications then under "Useful Settings", try first to set "Keep Wi-fi on during sleep" to always, and leave unchecked "wifi signal weak" as well as "Allow Wi-fi scanning"
2.) You may want to change DNS settings of the phone
-Download a DNS changer app (set DNS, And DNS changer, Override DNS, etc). Next, try setting primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4 (Those are Google's public DNS)
3.) In terms of browser usage, you may want to observe on which browser (stock, or 3rd party such as chrome), does the issue occur more frequently. Then go to that browser's settings and do some re-configuration.
4.) If the problem is more evident when you connect to your home network, you may want to access your wireless router settings and change some settings such as the wifi channel, rts threshold, etc.
5.)By the way, what phone model are you using, and is it tied up with a carrier network?
