I came around a problem with Youtube app from Google and wifi. Everytime I try to load some video, it just disconnects from wifi at same point, sometimes instantenously, sometimes after 15 minutes, and connects to mobile plan, even when wifi is avaiable. No other app does that. And what bugs me most is the fact, that the phone cannot see that wi-fi hotspot afterwards, even thought it is still running and other devices see it fine. It just says Out of reach. I have to restart that wi-fi hotspot and then my phone is able to see that wifi again. What could be the culprit here?
I am using stock .62 rom and kernel with root privilages. But the problem occured even before rooting. Thanks for the help.

I don't know if this has been posted already, but I was struggling trying to find solutions so I thought I would post what worked for me.
After updating to froyo rooted deodexed stock rom, my wifi tether became very unstable. It would say it was connected, but my computer would lose internet access and would only reconnect after I stopped and restarted wireless tether.
The day it started to behave again I did the following:
- Turned "Find My Location" off in Shopsavvy
(this did not make a noticeable difference, but I left it like that anyway, just in case)
- Upgraded wireless tether to 2.0.5-pre8
- Installed Wifinder to make sure I was using a clear channel in wireless tether
(The default channel I was on was clear from what I could tell, but I went ahead and changed it to 1 in the wireless tether settings anyway)
- On my computer, I right clicked on the wireless tether connection, selected properties, connection, and put a checkbox in "connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)", then ok.
(I believe I read some people saying that the phone was stopping broadcasting the SSID when the internet was dropping, which is why I did this)
After those changes, I was able to stay connected for hours versus minutes, but after restarting the phone I have been able to stay connected until I disconnect.
The only time it has disconnected without me physically turning off wifi tether since then was a couple of times trying to test my upload speed, but not every time. I think there must be something they are doing to shut down the connection when large or aggressive uploads are detected or something.
I was actually having this same problem on the old Fresh .02 ROM I was using. Thanks for the info I will give what you said a try!
I was having the same problems as well...it seemed like every 10 minutes it would just stop but still said I was connected when clearly I wasn't. I will have to test this tonight when I get home...thanks so much!
Can anyone confirm this works? I'm having major issues with all data connection dropping after a few minutes of being online. What I've noticed is that the 3G indicator in the notification bar will actually disappear momentarily, then reappear, but once it reappears...I'm not able to connect further until I restart the tether app.

I would change your version of wireless tether first. Which one are you using? I am using 7 now, but I believe 8 was best for me.

Using "Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre11" now...haven't tried it with this version however I was using pre9 and that version was causing the 3G problems that I described in my last post.
I had this same issue. When I went into the wireless tether application and changed it to use channel one everything started working perfectly.

I'll try that and report my results...really annoying problem, ya know?
I think the "aggressive download" portion is accurate. I can stay connected for hours with a little web browsing going on; however, start up a torrent or connect to my PS3 and it disconnects in 5-10 minutes. I'll try the SSID broadcast later tonight though and test it under heavy load.

My issue isn't "aggressive downloads" - a PS3 connection doesn't require a lot of bandwidth, just a low latency connection - which is probably the reason you are disconnected. I use my wireless tether for playing online games from my computer. When it is actually working and playing well, its running 8-12 kbit/sec, which is very low bandwidth. It's only when the 3G indicator disappears that my whole connection is lost and I have to restart my game and restart Wireless Tether as well. FWIW my latency while playing is roughly 400-500ms - high, but the game tolerates it.
Hi all
Seem to have a wifi or network problem.
I'm running ARHD 20.1 and have noticed lately that my wifi connection just seems to stop randomly when connected to the internet.
When I say stop I mean it still shows full signal on the wifi but just lose all network connectivity. web pages time out, play store times out, youtube times out and local connections time out. But it still shows my wifi is connected to my router and it still shows full signal.
Once it stops the only way I can reconnect is to turn wifi off and on again.
I normally have wifi turned on all the time.
Funny thing is it only seems to happen when i've been browsing for a few minutes, I can always access the internet the 1st time I try so its not disconnecting when i'm not using it
This has just started happening over the last few days and prior to this everything was fine.
I've tried reloading the Rom and Boot.img but its still doing it.
Any idea's?
Stu
Try to flash an other kernel like xm
If don't work, try to change the rom and see if that rom have this bug.
Hi All,
I am still lumbering on with an old HTC Desire running CM 7.07282011-Nightly and have had no real issues up until a couple of days ago.
Whilst in France (not that that make a lot of difference) the Wi-Fi access stopped working and the phone stopped being able to see any Wi-Fi networks. Basically, it switches itself off after around 30 seconds and cannot pick up any networks. In addiiton, the WiFi MAC address shows as unavailable although teathering via a WiFi hotspot works fine. I was switch between teather and normal Wi-Fi when the problem occurred.
If I go into Settings --> Wireless and Networks -->WiFi setting, then switch on the Wi-Fi, I get the "Turning on" message but then a Sorry warning saying "Application Settings (in process com.andriod.settings is not responding" and I can either "force a close" or "wait". If I wait, the Wi-Fi will simply switches itself off after about 30 seconds.
I did read in another post that this might be to do with the Wi-Fi sleep status but I tried all 3 options (from the menu in the Wi-Fi setting page) but that didn't do anything.
The issue appears to be that that phone has lost the Wi-Fi adaptors MAC address (says unavailable). However, I can still use Wireless Tethering and connect to to the phones WiFi hotspot. I think something has go screwy with the Wi-Fi tethering and Wi-Fi access (as I was switching between both when on my travels), but I need some help in trying to fix it.
Any Help Welcome
Chris
I tried updating to cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-bravo (whuch was the last release version), but still no joy.
Any help welcome
Well, after trying pretty much everything, I had to run a factory reset on the phone. Finally, my Wi-Fi is working again. Of course I now have the ball aching job of setting the phone up and re-installing all my apps again. Google restore is pretty rubbish
Looks like there must have been a config setting that got screwed somewhere. I did take a backup of the ROM and if anyone knows where this might be resolved, I wouldn't mind restoring.
First i am sorry about my english
I have a problem with a wifi hotspot. I lost connection all the time or not all the time but every day this happens. When im online with my computer and my phone is hotspot everything works well but suddenly i got message "no internet access" My phone notifications show wifi hotspot is on but its not! My computer and other phone not notice that at all but if i turn off that wifi hotspot and turn on its working again. How can i fix this problem? This is so annoying. I have android 4.4.4
This might be of some consolation, it also happens to me quite regularly. I often have to put my phone into airplane mode and back again to reset the network. I think it's a carrier network issue rather than any software. Could be wrong though
In the last 6 months or so I have been experiencing frequent wifi issues, regardless of the custom ROM I'm using. Usually some time after a new installation I am unable to connect to the networks I normally use (my home network and the one at work which uses a proxy server). No matter what I do (clear cache, factory reset, change ROM...) the problem persists. In settings a number of random messages are given: secured, disabled, authentication problem, etc. Every now and then I can get a connection (never at work though) but it doesn't last long. Any help for troubleshooting this would be appreciated. I hope it isn't hardware failure since I'm still enjoyng this tablet after all these years!
Mine started having wifi issues off and on a couple of weeks ago. The wifi started to not turn back on after waking it up, at first just in manually turning it off and then back on seemed to work. Last Friday it just wouldn't stay on at all. I would go to the wifi in settings, it sometimes would get stuck saying turning on. I finally did a factory reset on it, it at first seemed to fix the problem, even spent a couple of hours trying to get everything set back up. Then the problem returned, it just keeps turning the wifi off, if i can even get it to turn on at all. I was going to try and use my phone as a hotspot through Bluetooth (not sure if i can or jot, never tried before), but even the Bluetooth won't stay on. So Sunday, after spending way to many hours fighting with it, i went out and got a new tablet.

Have you tried using the Samsung Kies app to flash the latest stock rom, Dont use Odin or other non Samsung approved flashing software.
I have had my T800 for over 4 years and had no real problem with the wifi connection, But i have heard that there can be compatibility problems with some wifi routers, Also try changing the channel number on your router, Auto channel was giving me poor connection on my PC, I ran the inSSIDer wifi app and it said to manually change my wifi channel to channel 1 the clearest channel as other wifi and bluetooth and wifi dongle even you smart gas/electric can cause interference., auto was picking channel 13 for some reason and it fixed my problem.

Thanks, but since it's the router at my workplace there's not much I can do on that side. Question is, are there any specific steps I can take to verify if it's software-related or if the wifi module is just gone?
Wifi and Bluetooth both use the 2.4ghz frequency, So they can interferer with each other and can cause constant disconnect`s, I have seen this many time, Use 5.0ghz on your T800 if you can, Or disable Bluetooth.
Does your wifi work OK on other brands of router?, Or is it just the one you are using at work.
John.
It's kind of tricky to answer: let's say the times this issue appeared it always stareted at work, but then also at home I couldn't keep a stable connection. Once the problem starts, I get no connection at work at all and very difficult connection at home (meaning it does connect intermittently).
UPDATE. After other attempts and a complete restore of stock firmware, I have both wifi and bluetooth not working, constantly "turning on...." but never activating.
