Which version of TWRP are you flashing? The official 3.0.3 has no issues for me. After flashing TWRP, boot into recovery and then to system.

[HELP] Unable to flash Stock/TWRP recovery or Any ROM via FASTBOOT(bootloader)

I was on OOS community build 3.5.3 with modified twrp-3.0.2-19-oneplus3.
I wiped everything except internal storage after that I tried to flash official TWRP.
After installing official twrp via modified TWRP. Niether I can boot into my recovery nor able to install any recovery via fastboot.
it I use "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
after installing recovery with this command My bootloader get stuck then I have to again restart my bootloader.
please help
You're probably stil on 3.5.2 firmware which isnt compatible with official twrp. Try and get into fastboot and try flashing modified twrp again. Then reboot in recovery and flash 3.2.6 firmware (not the rom) from modified twrp. Then reboot and flash official twrp from recovery or in flashify app.
i had this problem the other day, fixed this by flashing the modified recovery from a post here turn it off the booted it up by holding vol down + power and somehow it worked i was able to go into twrp

Can't flash any Custom Recovery on OP3

Hi everyone,
I've a little problem with my OP3, Yesterday I removed my OOS 3.2.6 with TWRP, I flashed the stock recovery back and then I've sideloaded the last OOS 3.5.3 Community Build. Today i'd like to flash the TWRP, i launched the Fastboot menu, nothing seems to go wrong by flashing but when i tried to boot into the recovery, the "1+ powered by android" appears for 5 sec and then a black screen, no TWRP screen... Same problem by trying to restore the OnePlus stock recovery..
I tried "fastboot -w" (wipe) this bring back the stock recovery.
I tried to sideload, OOS 3.5.3, OOS 3.5.3, ResurectionRemix 2.7.4 and CM14 but all of them failed at 47% of work...
I'm thinking that there is a problem caused by an encryption...
"fastboot format userdata" didn't solve the problem..
I'd like to know wich partition i can format/erase to remove this encryption (Loss of data is not a problem for me)
Thanks in advance
Have you tried to flash the modified TWRP ?

Yes, same problem as TWRP
Same thing happened to me on flashing twrp after sideloading CB 3.5.2 through stock recovery. But flashing the modified twrp 3.0.2-19 solved the issue.
It is newer firmware that won't let you boot into TWRP.
Flash modified TWRP 3.0.2-19 recovery through fast boot.
Then flash <=3.5.0 firmware from here using TWRP.
Then flash this TWRP 3.0.2-0 image again from fast boot.
Then flash a ROM of your liking.
If all else fails, you can try this (flash stock recovery and 3.2.4 FW) WITHOUT relocking and then flash TWRP 3.0.2-0 from the above link to see if that works.

I've been able to Flash the Modified recovery, and it booted. By flashing the patch, no problem detected, but after flashing the 3.0.2-0 same black screen as earlier...
So I flashed the modified back, and by trying to flash ResurectionRemix for exemple, no error happenned but, when boot begin, same problem as twrp ...
EDIT : Sorry guys, i didn't read correctly.. I was flashing the same patch ! The 3.5.3 and not the 3.5.0 !!! Normal TWRP is booting corectly now, i'll see for ROM !
Thank you very much to you !!
EDIT 2 : RR 2.7.4 BOOT !!! Thank you so much !

Questions about upgrading 5T from 5.1.1 to 5.1.3

Hey. I have a rooted with TWRP installed OnePlus 5T on OOS v5.1.1
I've been receiving the 5.1.3 upgrade for a while now and have decided to update. Can i dirty flash the package or do i need to wipe system and data? I'm guessing the root will not be retained and i will have to root again but will the TWRP recovery stay intact? Thanks for your answers
I guess you would be able dirty flash.
You have to flash the twrp and magisk root again. If you are going to flash latest Open Beta 11, you have to flash Beta 10 before to retain data.

I have switched from 5.1.3 to beta11 like;
1- download the rom you want to install from oneplus site.
2- also download the stock recovery image from oneplus site.
3- put both files into the phone.
4- flash the stock recovery you downloaded.
5- boot into stock recovery and install the downloaded rom without wiping or formating anything.
6- enjoy your new rom with all your apps and data.
After the above steps you can install custom recovery and magisk again.
I also highly recommend to take a full backup of your phone .

Why was stock recovery flashed? Can the Rom not be installed using TWRP?

Well, i always got an error with twrp. No OS installed or something like that. Tried also a dirty flash with twrp and phone was not able to boot. So i found the way with stock recovery.

Rom can be flashed with Blu Spark treble TWRP V8.78not normal TWRP. And after you flash reboot to recovery then flash magisk 15.3 and no verity V2 or version 3 if your not encrypted either work, I used V2 just fine.
If you try to flash magisk right after rom it will probably give you an error. Reboot only to recovery BEFORE letting the rom boot or you loose recovery, then magisk will flash, 15.3 is the least grievous version after a successful boot upgrading to 16.4 is easy.
16.6 has been giving people grief also.

Rooting issues

I have a Pixel 3 XL and I was following this Guide to root it.
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-3-unlock-bootloader-root-magisk/
When I get to part 2-10 (The part to install Magisk) my phone wont boot into the OS. Instead I end up back at TWRP. If I reinstall TWRP from my download folder or restore a back up I can get back into the OS. I still have TWRP installed but no root. I know I'm doing something wrong but I'm not sure. Like I've said TWRP is install but not Magisk.
What Android version; Pie or Q, stock or custom? What Magisk version? Are you booting to TWRP (fastboot boot twrp.img) or did you flash twrp to the device?

I did this from a blank slate. Pie, stock, the newest version if Magisk 19.3. I flashed twrp to my device.

Try clean fastboot flashing the stock boot.img back onto the phone. You can get it from the fastboot factory img. Then just boot TWRP to flash the Magisk zip. The Magisk zip will need to be on the device for the booted TWRP to find it just like if you were running TWRP installed on the device.
An alternative is to use Magisk manager to patch the stock boot.img and then fastboot flash that patched img to the device.

I tried the easiest method first, which was installing the Magik app and flashing the zip, I got the following error,
Device platform: arm64-v8a
copying image to cache
Unpacking boot image
! Unsupported/Unkown image format
! Installation failed
I'll try flashing the stock image, but should I flash twrp again after the image? I've done this before in the past because some phones require it as part of the rooting instructions. Does this order sound right, flash stock image, reboot, flash twrp reboot, then Magisk?

You must use the latest magisk 19.4.

Just tried the beta version (19.4) and I'm stuck in a standard bootloop. I'll try and get it into recovery.
No worries, I forgot to mention that I restored a back up

Surely not on Pie. I'm using 19.3 on the last Pie.

I'm on pie, but your first suggestion was the fix. I had to flash the factory img before doing everything else. I just had to put a little more time a side and not be lazy.

Problems with recovery.

After the firmware Lineage 18.0 flew recovery, stupidly stopped opening.Flashing through adb recovery img does not give anything, can someone tell me something? Now I can't restore the TWRP backup or flash the custom firmware and Magisk.
I installed the service firmware via the computer and everything worked out.
In my case i boot on fastboot and flashed twrp img without booting into Lineage OS 18.1 and i could install another rom, Lineage OS 18.1 sadly has the bug that deletes TWRP recovery on rom boot, doesn't matter if you install again TWRP recovery
