Hello, I am coming from LG optimus 2x zone. After i brick my o2x (Dropped) I decided to buy a new phone.
I was looking for phones that are worth to buy.
The LG Optimus 4x HD and the HTC One X
What do you think is it worth buying a One X today ? (Since i don't want to buy LG phone again! Support and firmware updates on LG SUCK)
2. Is there something i should know about One X before buying (Other than that it is awesome) ( I had an HTC HD2 it had a hardware problem with touchscreen i ask for something like this) I read about many bugs (Screen WiFi etc etc..) But i don't want to believe what other people say about this phone i want to hear what users says
EDIT: I am thinking to buy this phone! even if there are a few bugs with it
In my opinion this phone is much better than any phone on the market today (Value for money) . This phone isn't just impressive specs written on white piece of papper It does have style it does have soul. Everytime i come accross it on any shop just screams BUY ME BUY ME PLZZ
Yes you should know many things before buying.
1- some models of one x have wifi problem which is hardware issue also confirmed by htc.
2- battery will not lasts more than 3-4 hours(screen on time) no matter which rom you used.
3-Its camera is not in proper in shape in my opinion to keep it on rough surface. Camera lens got many scratches because of that.
4-front facing cam is not so good may be its mine but worse than my previous phone(galaxy s2).
If you can increase your budget buy a hox+ instead because i think as hox was the trial and hox+ was the finished product by htc. I jave not used hox+ so cant say much about that.
but still if you want to buy hox you will definetely not regret other than the battery life.
Because i think if you are putting money on this you must know all the negative points rather than all plus points which are many in hox no doubts.

Don't buy it, get a nexus 4 or 5..
I also planned to buy a HTC One X.....Same ambition bro....HAHA

why?
Nexus 4 is not beautiful as One X and Nexus 5 is quite expensive than One X.
One X cost $1000 and Nexus 5 cost $1500 (My country price).I can buy half One X if bought Nexus 5...

A one x will be always behind nexus devices in development or any other snapdragon devices. If you dont care about roms and kernels you willbe happy

HTC's Sense interface is so unusual that you have to love it or hate it.
HOX itself is a good phone. As I've understood the WiFi issue is on earlier models. (for example none of the 16gb version should have it).
Battery is a disgrace. Mine only last around 2,5-3 hours screen on time (with AOSP rom). I used to have a Samsung Galaxy Ace some time ago and that ****ty phone could last for more than twice of my HOX.
Some early models did also have some screen tint problem. I think it was the glue between lcd and digitizer. This should also not happen on later models.
As i've understood HOX+ is not that much better (slightly better battery but not much).
But if the options are 4x and HOX then it's a no brainer.. Get the HOX. A friend of mine has the 4x (also Tegra 3) and if I compare the smoothness of stock roms than it seems like HOX is in another league. 4x just lags at everything (did some random test and HTC was a clear winner).
Are there any other phones you like at that price range in your country? (Nexus5 costs around 450$ where i live... and HOX still costs around 400$)

In my country the prices between nexus 5 and Hox are not that much close... I saw a real 4x hd today in a shop the guy opened it for me and really it sux as i expected!
So nexus 4 optimus G and one x (I know many of you will say the nexus 4 ftw but the price difference....it is affordable for me but why do i pay extra for almost same phone... no sense)

All three phones are great but i I were to choose I'd got with the G.. It's got a better CPU, twice the RAM, Bigger battery and LTE...
I'd buy a nexus 4 too. Tegra 3 is less powerful than nexus's snapdragon, it gets hot quite easily and battery life is quite bad.
Moreover HOX probably already got it's last update.
I'm not saying that it is a bad smartphone, i personally love it, sense 5 is great, it has an amazing screen and i'm still happy of my choice, but when i see nexus's smoothness and it's updates i think that it would have been better to buy it, even if it isn't as good looking as my HOX.

hey guy i was in EXACTLY the same situation as u. I came from the Tmobile G2x which was promised ICS but LG/NVIDIA/Tmobile didnt deliver.
I have bought the international version, I like it but it does have the wifi problem. I think its a great phone but if ur a guy that likes flashing stuff or needs alot of battery life i wouldnt recommend it. also, it seems like the same kind of situation might happen as what happened with the G2x, cause of tegra 3(from what i have read) its going to be hard to get 4.4 unless we get the official version first. Thus, i would stay clear. I think this kind of situation is negated from the new HTC one but in the s3/HOX/LGOG/N4 generation, the N4/S3 is definately the way to go.
hope this helps, I want peopel to learn from my mistakes
I need the latest software cause thats the geek i am but if ur content with what u have i think this is a great phone.

Ok to be honest i do flash stuff... but the point is if i pay for n4 then i would go for the optimus G if i pay and that i will add little more and i will buy n5
And the difference between the n5 and the G2 isn't that big either... wtf confusing situation i said and i will buy the hox. Here with the help of users and researches on the internet i have seen it's weak points so i won't be buying one with defect (i hope)

lg optimus g is limited in dev. I say if ur limited in budget find a nice used n4. if ur not get an n5. the differences is the LG counterpart usually are limited in dev. Also, I should say, i didnt have the wifi problem for a while until i first dropped it and from then on i got it.
The HOX is a great phone, if i give it to my family they would love it.... idk if its for the techie now tho.
the newer phones HTC ONE/S4/N5 are better in getting updates i think but then they are more expensive

if it wasnt for this stupid wifi problem (Which there is a workaround but it requires opening up the phone. i havent gotten around to it yet) this is a great phone esp the price it is sold at. The one weakness i would say is battery. But again, if ur statisfied with maybe not getting 4.4+ then yeah definately get it

What exactly are you "mad" about? I own the exact tablet down to the color, and I am very pleased with it. Do you feel you got a lesser processor with the Eynox Octacore, rather than the Snapdragon....do some research, it is about the same depending on usage....if you wanted a gaming tablet, you should have done some research, before buying.
I love mine...coming from a TF-701
So the 605 is better for gaming??!
I saw a review between the 601 and 605 , and 605 was better for some game but the 601 was better in some games too
all I am asking for "am I gonna have abetter tablet or not?"
And in a difference that I can feel by using the tablet not by benchmarks records

The premium price for this tablet, takes into account the development of now exclusive software and functionality, if those functions don't suit your needs, then you are having buyer's remorse.
In the words of comedian Steven Wright "you can't have everything.....where would you put it?"
Show your love of the tablet, and use the forum, invest your time, to fine tune your device to your specific needs. I think that is the point here.
If you are wanting the always bestest, fastest, out of the box....that is an expensive goal, and hard to find everything exactly the way you like it.
I am still fussing with my tablet, to suit my specific needs, and I enjoy the challenge.

If you want the best for features, functionality, and development then go for the P605. It comes with LTE, SD 800 Soc, and can do [email protected] vid. LTE can come in handy if you ever travel internationally, SD 800 will have more developer support if you like running custom kernels, and your videos will come out looking slightly better even if it's mostly in your head. Is it worth the extra cost? That's up to you.
I have done it
I had p601 for about 4 days and i had to return it since it had power on switch problem ...i had to press it twice inorder for the touch screen to work. But i got to use it for 4 days and i have to say that it was laggy and the performance was pretty bad atleast for me. If i am going to shell out money i might as well buy the best. I went to the store and bought p605 and it was amazing. there was a little tiny bit of delay while writing on the p601 but on the p605 it was pretty fast and accurate. the battery charged real fast on the p605. I am a power user..and i usually get about 5-6 hours untill the battery reaches 30-35%.
In conclusion, i would recommend you to get the p605 and you shall not regret. One thing i hate about note 2014 is that the warranty will be voided when rooted, this destroys its maximum potential

Yep but that's the way the world seems to be moving, not "what would the consumer like/want" but "the consumer WILL like/want this"...
I believe these companies are shooting themselves in the foot. How many little features start their life out on forums like XDA, then get picked up and packed into the next version of Android as major features?
Less devs=less featues being worked on...
And lets face it, this is unpaid research being done for these companies....
I'm planning to get a new cellphone and I would like to know,
Is the LG G3 worth it for 300 can (about 250 us)(used)?
Is there something I should know before buying it?
Moving from my laggy lg optimus l7, I want to make a good choice, thanks!
I'm about to buy the 16GB/2GB version for 350€ (new) in a couple of days, and I don't have any doubts. I'd much rather pay 350€ for a device this good, than pay twice as much for that Samsung Galaxy S6 or even HTC One M9. So yeah, definitely worth it in my opinion.

Ok i am big fan of Lg and specially for G3 but lets be clear here, S6 has ( meaning hardware all specs and stuff) the best hardware that money can buy right now. Despite that its overpriced I think g4 will be even better at least on the camera lens

I'm talking money here, 350€ vs 700€ is not so small difference, and for this money, I think G3 is a great phone.
I'm looking forward to seeing that G4 will bring, and I already love the design. But then again, it will probably cost around 700€, so I'm still going with the G3 anyways.

G3 has some problems:
1) Overheating while gaming. Thanks to throttling, it doesn't heat enough to damage itself or become hard-to-touch. Plus the phone has some governor problems.
2) Battery life on official 5.0. You won't get more than 5:5.30 SOT while web browsing on 4g.
3) Cracks on casing, happen to a lot of people after several months of use.
4) Audio jack is buggy + some sound problems.
For me, none of there are critical. I only play non-demanding games on phone, there are no problems with Bluetooth stereo headset, 5 h sot is good enough and crack is tiny and only present near IR port.
Phone is pretty fast (if you change governor to conservative), firmware is stable and has some nice features, 2k screen looks gorgeous, and design/size are just right for me. It is worth these 300$ if you ask me.
Today I have been looking at new phones to purchase since I broke my old one. I like the price and specs of the Asus Zenfone 2.
My question to those of you here who have used this phone is, have you had any major issues with it that would warrant a replacement? Also, would it be a good phone to set up a custom modded rom on or should I look into other alternatives?

Had mine since new , battery is better now than when I first used it at the beginning >19 months ago .
Brought it back from brick successfully every time .
Nougat is available now cm14.1 and although unofficial at the moment , it is great for me as main ROM and I am sure it will go from strength to strength.
Again , it all depends what you really want, I was contemplating a newer device this year but the devs bringing N changed my mind for at least another year.
This is the longest I have ever kept a phone BTW and its going no- where, any time soon.
Mines the ze551ml z00a 64gb 4gb ram 2.3ghz version comes with fast charger adapter.

Awesome! My biggest concern was going to be the battery. Some of the reviews I have read for the phone have been concerning in regards to the battery. Someone even said that the battery expanded and popped up their screen. Seemed a bit crazy. Is it true that the battery can't be removed? At least not by conventional methods... Also what carrier are you using it on?
Edit: Just noticed you are in the UK so the carrier thing won't help answer all my questions. LOL. However, it looks like it should be compatible with many of the carriers in the US.
Not seen many US people making threads about bands so should be OK
I definitely not suggest you this phone. (unless you pay it 100€)
-Poor battery life
-Bad quality construction (Speaker braking and ghost touch almost on every device after 6-12 months)
-Too big and heavy (this may be subjective).
-Bad software optimization
I'm moving to Lenovo Zuk Z2.
This is an old phone now. Get something new. :good:

DONT buy it
Reasons?:
-Poor battery life
-Ghost touches everywhere (defective phones, no matter how many times do you use warranty, ghost touches always come back)
-ASUS really dont want you to use other roms (its kinda easy to use other roms if you are experienced, but if you are a noob with android rooting, unlocking bl and that ****, you'll have some troubles).

Mines great , like already mentioned.
I don't experience anything like you lot have experienced
Will do me for another year at least.
I had the HTC one m7 4g version from new , camera went pink and battery would be approx 27% when I got home from a shift(below health and battery longevity threshold) and it would get hotter than the sun , whereas same shift and I'm in the high 70's % with the zenny
Not a scratch on it , no ghost sh1t or anything.
When it was new , battery was like the m7 with stock ROM
Nothing but praise at a 3rd the price of the HTC one

As you can see there are a few who have had issues with their device, but there are the exceptions rather than the rule. EVERY phone line will have some who have issues. I think some of those here wouldn't be happy with a phone that lasts ten years on a charge and could cook and clean for them, but I digress.
I have had the US version of the ZE551ML 64GB since launch day. Great phone, great performance, good battery life (lasts me all day and then some, but my wife can kill it in no time when she gets to seriously playing games on it; it is a phone and not a Gameboy). I have used mine on the AT&T/Cricket network with no problems whatsoever. It should work on T-mobile but it does not have band 12 so I don't know how solid it would be on LTE.
I did have to RMA my original phone just before the one year warranty ran out, but it was not for a failure. On mine the glue between the glass and LCD separated; this did not affect its performance but it did create a silver outline around the screen. Asus replaced my phone without an issue because they were out of replacement screens at the time. I would have no issue whatsoever with buying another ZE551ML.
Don't bother dude, it's got the ****tiest build quality. Mine looks like it came from the trash. Sure it runs smooth, but ghost touches are a *****.

As you can see there are a few who have had issues with their device, but there are the exceptions rather than the rule. EVERY phone line will have some who have issues. Yeah, there has been a lot of tossing and turning over the quality of this phone. As my issue is being the cost of the phone, I am trying not to spend too much more than $200. Actually noticed that the Zenfone 3 was around and considered getting the Laser. After some research and thinking though I'm going with the Moto G4, maybe the G4 Plus.
I'm actually in the same boat here.
I am tired of being stuck to a carrier.
Currently on sprint and the service just sucks. I can spend less than $200 for the 64gb ZE551ml and can switch to metro or something. I don't have the money to spend on super high end phones.
I saw the Zenfone 3 laser but not sure what to do.
I was super intrigued when I first saw this phone.

This is the phone I have decided to go with. I have not ordered one yet as I am not in a dire need for a phone but it looks really good and its a more recent release compared to the Zenfone 2. The Zenfone 3 laser was my second choice or even the Honor 5x.
4gb ram 64gb version is $300
It is but I don't really have a need for all that. The biggest issue I had with my last phone was the processor was just crap.

I mostly saw 2gb versions XD. Don't get me wrong. I would not mind a 4gb phone but as per preference I would rather just get the newer hardware.
Edit: I should also note that I had not looked at much other phones yet at the time of this posting.
O_O I think i may have misread something when i was looking at Zenfone 2's. Forgive my stupidity. It would seem I need to look more into it. In the end though its gonna come down to price at the time of purchase. Wouldn't happen to have link to your model for a decent price would you?

USA right ?
:good:
Ah nice.
I hope its allowed too. That is a helpful one to look at, especially since I often overlook Ebay.
Thanks for that!
I am getting a 50% discount on exchange with my old phone (OnePlus 2), so I'm tempted to buy it. I don't mind the processor downgrade cause my main priority is battery life. I wanted to the opinion of actual Play users if I should go for it.

Wife left Maxx on car top, then I drove away. When I got up to speed on freeway I heard a noise on roof that caused me to check for my phone!
We got the cheapest good one on vzw, the play.
If battery life is the most important thing for you, this phone will make you happy. I just wonder if the next version isn't too far off.
depending on what you're using it for, you might not notice too much of a downgrade from a processor point of view. i don't do a ton of gaming, but the MZP feels every bit as responsive as my Nexus 5x, which ran the technically-better Snapdragon 808. performance is great, responsiveness is great, battery life is fantastic. i think you'll be happy with it.
I have both Z Force and Z Play. Side by side I don't notice much difference in performance.
Maybe the Force opens an app a few milliseconds faster. Yes screen density is better on Force, so videos/photos will be nicer. Camera on Z Force takes amazing photos. Took some at Grand Canyon and was happy. But battery life is my thing and Z Play wins that. I can't find a process that use day to day that is so much slower on Z Play.
I also have a G4 Plus and out of the 3 phones my favorite is the Z Play. Battery life is amazing. Of course I bought a battery mod right away but I've only used it for fun. Never actually had a need for it on either Z phone.
All in all if I had to buy one today I would repurchase Z Play without regret.

I do zero gaming except for maybe occasional Arcade games which I know will run smoothly. All my usage is multimedia, streaming and local which is why battery is imp. Especially cause I spend upto 3-4 hrs traveling daily.
I might go for it cause of the discount I'm getting on exchange for my current phone.
Can't tell any difference in performance between my z play and my OnePlus 3. The camera isn't amazing (it's fine, just not as good as the OP3 or galaxy S7/8) and it's very hard to use in one hand, but I absolutely adore my Z play and haven't taken my OP3 out of the drawer since purchasing the Z Play. I've owned over 40 different phones over the years and this is by far the best I've ever had.
Great software, great performance, great screen, good speaker, good build quality, unlimited battery life, mod compatible. For those of us who don't take selfies or use Instagram, this is the holy Grail of smartphones.

you'll probably be plenty happy with it then. the camera isn't the greatest, but the sound it produces is great, IMO the screen is fantastic, and the battery life is the best. i bought mine used for $290 and i really enjoy it. i wish it was smaller and had a better camera, but i can deal with both of those small annoyances compared to everything else it does so well.

Thanks for all the opinions, I've placed the order. With exchange of my old phone I'm getting the phone for about 180$ which is a pretty sweet deal. Should be here by Friday.

Even I'll hold off the root and ROM business cause it's already running Nougat and also don't want to void the warranty for atleast till the next iteration of android comes out.

While this technically does void the warranty, it only voids the part of the warranty that covers software (which is basically nothing, since software is 100% identical from phone to phone, software does not have "tolerances" like hardware does). If you have a hardware issue that clearly has nothing to do with software, Motorola will honor legitimate warranty claims. That being said, if you make a point of the fact that you unlocked your bootloader, the techs on the phone may assume your warranty is void. But I've returned several devices with unlocked bootloaders but legitimate hardware defects to Motorola and have never once had an issue. People like to complain, but Motorola customer service is some of the best in the industry.
Had a bad experience with Moto X Play. Hardware failure. USB port broken. SD card not reliably. Dealer (Conrad) sent in to Lenovo for warranty. Lenovo obviously only looked at the IMEI and sent back, told no warranty because if unlocked device. Conrad told in Europe it needs to be proven that the failure occurred in the first half year to get repair by dealer.
Now the device is being used without repair (most of the time it is usable). Am not sure if I should try anything further.

If you have a hardware issue that clearly has nothing to do with software, Motorola will honor legitimate warranty - would depend on market and type of service personnel. I've heard great ad bad things about their service centers but its usually almost all because of the service employees.
