messenger help - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I have the stock messenger app from Google on my oneplus 3 and I get a notification badge for when I send a message. So when I text someone I get a notification badge and also when I go the the app the message I sent is in bold in the messages window. Anyone know how I fix this?

I guess that's "delivery report" - a confirmation that your message was successfully delivered. You can disable that in advanced settings in the app.

Steps to get there:
Open app > 3 dot menu in top right corner > settings > advanced > "get SMS delivery report" switch.

I am, but that shouldn't affect anything here.
The only major difference that I see from screenshots is the fact that you have 2 SIM cards and I only one.
What do you see when you select "general" in settings?
Or maybe one of the SIMs? I guess it would make sense if app has completely different settings for each SIM, so you should probably see my first screenshot after selecting one of the SIMs.

Just tested with 1 sim. With only 1 sim you will get the options that Explorer23 is talking about

wish i could help but mine works perfectly fine. I assume you already dove into the settings menus and made sure the group messaging text box is checked?

What model are you on? I believe the model I'm on (D855) doesn't have that option n settings.

Check under MMS settings in your Messenger app settings. I have it checked, but it does the same thing. I think its an iPhone to Android issue. It's happened to me on any device I've owned, especially when the first message originates from an iPhone.

Like I said earlier, I don't have that option to tick in my MMS settings so not sure what to do.
I'd check with the D855 owners, the D851 has the option.

Use Textra. Free alternative to the Stock messaging application, and more robust while still retaining minimalism. Best SMS app I have ever used on Android.
I use it sometimes but I'm a big fan of the stock app

Im curious to know if you've gotten this fixed? The reason is im using an lgg3 rom for the lgg2 and im on att. I also don't have group message unless i start the group message.
Anyone solved this yet? I have the same issue. Downloaded Google Messenger, same issue. I also don't see a setting for Group Messaging in the default messaging app or Messenger.
I had this problem and fixed it. I bought the Galaxy S7 Edge. I am an unfortunate Sprint user.

Jawbone up app compatibility

I just had check on the jawbone page about the compatibility of the app with android wear. The Sony smartwatch 3 is not there... I had use it for 2 weeks but after the last update of Jawbone app I got some errors so I had choose to count my steps only by Phone. Anybody have the same problem?:cyclops:

Do you have the app with the purple icon?
If so then I've got the latest version working by clicking on the 'Add New Up' button on the right bar, clicking on other devices, and then enabling only the watch option.

Blue dot next to contact icon in stock messages app

Ok, so I noticed yesterday that there's a small blue dot next to some contacts icons in the stock SMS app. I thought it was some indicator of who had video calling enabled, but it seems it's something else. Has anyone seen this?

It could be to merge some contacts that the app has detected has some of the same information.
So curious
I noticed this a couple weeks ago, but have yet to locate any info anywhere.

I checked again a few days ago, and noticed that most, not all, contacts with the dot had video calling enabled as per the video call icon. I wonder if it's indeed this that the dot points to.
My guess is that the blue dot has something to do with the device, as none of my blue dots show up for apple users. But there are still a few android who don't have the dot, even though other contacts who use samsung phones have them. One of the contacts has a very old phone(10 years old?) And still has that dot. Conclusion: the blue dots are for android users only, and there is no correlation between the contacts' info and call/text options and blue dots.
I am thinking it means they have the new updated messaging that lets you know when the message was delivered/sent/read.

Same here. I'm beginning to think it's a Samsung-only feature.
@Karen C is correct.
It means that contact is capable of receiving RCS messages, so more advanced features than SMS, more like WhatsApp.
If you send a message to a contact with a blue dot it will automatically be sent as RCS
Why don't i have this feature? I am updated to the latest software

Not even selecting the Contacts section *within* the stock SMS app? That's where I see contacts with the dot.

I have it now due to the latest update.
However theres nothing else to report on, no RCS no features
Blue Dot Explained....
The contacts that have the blue dot have the chat messaging enabled on their android Samsung phone. That means when sending large messages it will show up as one long chat message instead of multiple small numbered messages.
It's not exclusive to Samsung. I'm on a Nokia phone. How bout Cricket Wireless?

Thinq does not have advanced messaging option

I bought 2 US thinqs from t-mobile the other day. Both have the same base version. Security version. I've compared every setting I can think of. But one of the phones does not show Advanced messaging options in settings. No alias settings. My. Phone shows a click able menu called "advanced messaging" but the other phone does not. Anybody know anything about this?

I'm trying to figure out why I can't get delivered and read reports when my friend and I text each other. We don't have this problem with anybody else. Just each other. This seems to be the only setting that could be causing the issue. Delivery and read reports are working with mms between the two phones but not sms. Alias seems to just be another version of your personal profile on the phone. Not too concerned about that function but it seems to be connected to since she doesn't have that setting either
Hmmm, just got my silver T-Mobile G7 ThinQ Friday and I don't have advanced messaging on it either.

Hi, do you have the LG Message app or thr Google Message app? Also, do you still have the wide angle camera of the front camera?

I don't think it ever had wide angle in the front. That's why there's two lenses on the back.

Android 10 update and Gmail

Recently my 10+ got updated to android 10 and gmail is now blacked out like the rest of the phone as I run it in dark mode. But since I got the update, i can't see any attachments in the main window and now need to enter the email body to open it. Before it was seen below the body in list mode and instead of going into the email body, I just could click onto the attachment. Kinda frustrating

It's set to default. I'm pretty sure it has to do with android 10 update. Also when there are notification pop ups and I click on them, it doesnt behave like before. There was more interaction. Messenger pop up I would be able to click on it and respond when screen is locked. Now I cant.
Now my question is.....how do I revert back to android 9? 10 suxks ballz!
