Is anyone else having issues with group messaging when using the stock app? I can send to multiple people in a group but replies come back individually. Thanks!!

wish i could help but mine works perfectly fine. I assume you already dove into the settings menus and made sure the group messaging text box is checked?

What model are you on? I believe the model I'm on (D855) doesn't have that option n settings.

Also, can you screen shot your settings menu where it shows that setting for me?

Check under MMS settings in your Messenger app settings. I have it checked, but it does the same thing. I think its an iPhone to Android issue. It's happened to me on any device I've owned, especially when the first message originates from an iPhone.

Like I said earlier, I don't have that option to tick in my MMS settings so not sure what to do.

I'd check with the D855 owners, the D851 has the option.

As I thought, the D855 has different settings. Any idea for a fix?

Use Textra. Free alternative to the Stock messaging application, and more robust while still retaining minimalism. Best SMS app I have ever used on Android.

I use it sometimes but I'm a big fan of the stock app

Im curious to know if you've gotten this fixed? The reason is im using an lgg3 rom for the lgg2 and im on att. I also don't have group message unless i start the group message.

Anyone solved this yet? I have the same issue. Downloaded Google Messenger, same issue. I also don't see a setting for Group Messaging in the default messaging app or Messenger.

I had this problem and fixed it. I bought the Galaxy S7 Edge. I am an unfortunate Sprint user.

[Q] Stock-like Handcent alternative?

I've been using Handcent for quite a while now, but I've decided to go back to stock. I just like the look of stock a lot more than Handcent, and I don't need nearly all the features that Handcent offers. Unfortunately, stock SMS doesn't have a signature option. I'm on Verizon as well, so I have to have an app that has the "SMS Split" option as well. If it matters, I'm using CM9 RC2 for the R800x. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Looking for SMS Split and Signature features?
You should have slashed other choices and picked GO SMS Pro right from the beginning.

I've used it. I'm not a fan. I'm just looking for an edited/rewritten stock SMS app.

I'm speaking to somebody who made a version of stock that had the SMS splitting feature for Verizon. Well, not speaking, I just messaged them for the first time.

I'm on Straight Talk for AT&T, but it sounds like we have the same issue. Let me know what he/she tells you.

You need two requirements to be satisfied:
Your carrier has to support this.
Your messaging app has to support this through a feature in the settings.
I know an app that supports this functionality is 8SMS.

I'm not sure if AT&T supports this, or if it's an add-on you'd have to add to your plan. You can look into that and see. However, for the second requirement, you can download a different SMS app to test if SMS over wifi works out of the box.

Push notifications from XDA Premium or Tapatalk on 5.1.1 roms

Has anyone noticed that push notifications never seem to work on LP ROMs, or any android rom. I'll make a comment in one of the threads, subscribe to the thread and when I come back I have to sort through 4 or more pages just to find what I last said. Does anyone have any applications that'll push XDA notifications as soon as someone quotes your comment.

Hi, I am on the latest Nexus 6 ASOIP however experience the same issue. I have XDA Premium with notifications set to tell me when someone quotes me, but I never receive any. I have to check the web version to see that.
I too have been looking for a way to receive quote notifications, but to no success....

I receive them in my email. I'm not sure why though. I looked in my control panel here on XDA (settings & options>edit options) and the only thing I can see that looks like it could be related is a setting that says "Receive Email from Administrators". I use my Gmail address here so they always get pushed to my phone that way. Like I said, I don't know if that's the setting that causes me to get them or not. It's the only thing I can find in there that looks even remotely related though. Maybe check in your control panel and see if you have that setting enabled or not.
It's not the ideal solution for you, I know, but, it does work well for me.

OK
Notifications never seem to work, and I'm not sure if its the app or some other issue. A few years ago, in the hayday stages of the app development notifications were instantly pushed. I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't revieve a notification from one of you. I have to subscribe to the thread in order to bookmark it for later viewing.

Blue dot next to contact icon in stock messages app

Ok, so I noticed yesterday that there's a small blue dot next to some contacts icons in the stock SMS app. I thought it was some indicator of who had video calling enabled, but it seems it's something else. Has anyone seen this?

It could be to merge some contacts that the app has detected has some of the same information.
So curious
I noticed this a couple weeks ago, but have yet to locate any info anywhere.

I checked again a few days ago, and noticed that most, not all, contacts with the dot had video calling enabled as per the video call icon. I wonder if it's indeed this that the dot points to.
My guess is that the blue dot has something to do with the device, as none of my blue dots show up for apple users. But there are still a few android who don't have the dot, even though other contacts who use samsung phones have them. One of the contacts has a very old phone(10 years old?) And still has that dot. Conclusion: the blue dots are for android users only, and there is no correlation between the contacts' info and call/text options and blue dots.
I am thinking it means they have the new updated messaging that lets you know when the message was delivered/sent/read.

Same here. I'm beginning to think it's a Samsung-only feature.
@Karen C is correct.
It means that contact is capable of receiving RCS messages, so more advanced features than SMS, more like WhatsApp.
If you send a message to a contact with a blue dot it will automatically be sent as RCS

Not even selecting the Contacts section *within* the stock SMS app? That's where I see contacts with the dot.

I have it now due to the latest update.
However theres nothing else to report on, no RCS no features
Blue Dot Explained....
The contacts that have the blue dot have the chat messaging enabled on their android Samsung phone. That means when sending large messages it will show up as one long chat message instead of multiple small numbered messages.
It's not exclusive to Samsung. I'm on a Nokia phone. How bout Cricket Wireless?

Thinq does not have advanced messaging option

I bought 2 US thinqs from t-mobile the other day. Both have the same base version. Security version. I've compared every setting I can think of. But one of the phones does not show Advanced messaging options in settings. No alias settings. My. Phone shows a click able menu called "advanced messaging" but the other phone does not. Anybody know anything about this?

I'm trying to figure out why I can't get delivered and read reports when my friend and I text each other. We don't have this problem with anybody else. Just each other. This seems to be the only setting that could be causing the issue. Delivery and read reports are working with mms between the two phones but not sms. Alias seems to just be another version of your personal profile on the phone. Not too concerned about that function but it seems to be connected to since she doesn't have that setting either
Hmmm, just got my silver T-Mobile G7 ThinQ Friday and I don't have advanced messaging on it either.

Hi, do you have the LG Message app or thr Google Message app? Also, do you still have the wide angle camera of the front camera?

I don't think it ever had wide angle in the front. That's why there's two lenses on the back.
