updating radio and bootloader - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on a custom rom and i want to update my radio and bootloader to the latest versions, but I've read that it's better return to stock when updating these images, can i update these images while on a custom rom using the fastboot commands:
fastboot flash bootloader C:\bullhead\images\bootloader-bullhead-bullhead-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio C:\bullhead\images\radio-bullhead-bullhead-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
,without returning to stock or can it be updated while on a custom rom?
(I'm sorry if my question is stupid but i'm paranoid and don't want to end up with paperweight lol)
Thanks.

@niklus101: you can update them from custom ROM, by fastboot or by recovery.

Isn't necessary but It's necessary flash the vendor.img too, I think. Why do you need to update radio and bootloader?

Flash Stock Rom Asus_Z00AD

Hey everyone! This is my first post to XDA forums EVER, and I need a lot of help since I'm a newbie to how Android flashing works, so go easy on me
So as the title suggests, I want to flash my Asus Zenfone 2 with the stock rom. My current build number is: LRX21V.WW-ASUS_Z00A-2.20.40.97_20150917_1572_user044030427_201501060109
The reason I want to flash the stock rom again is because I removed some of the bloatware from my phone (such as BBL actors for omlet) and other crap, but some of it won't let me reinstall, and because of me removing some of the bloatware crap, I can't use some features on my phone. I've tried flashing supposed stock roms before for my phone from a windows CMD prompt, but they failed to write (for whatever reason?).
I'm rooted with some 1-tap windows cmd prompt thing, have a locked bootloader (thats the thing to install custom roms, right?) and the stock recovery (tried using the TWP app to flash the TWP recovery, but it didn't seem to work, and would just leave the normal recovery?)
I've come here for the intelligent minds to help me out! Please help lol
Have you tried to use adb sideload command into recovery mode?

You have to flash the stock recovery, then, enter in recovery mode an flash the official ROM via cmd. You can follow this tutorial www.asuszenfoneblog.com/2015/04/how-to-flash-asus-zenfone-2-via-adb.html
Hope this can help you.

Won't that just update the O.S? I heard ADB sideload in the recovery just updates the O.S to a newer version? And why would this work, but not fastboot? Alsol, does ADB sideload work if USB debugging is off?

How to reverse/undo latest OTA update?

Hey guys,
Ever since I updated my Wileyfox a few days ago, it's gone to crap. Half my apps don't work, and they've removed features I really liked.
Is there any way to reverse this dreadful update and restore it to how it was?
Thanks in advance

Thanks very much Robin. Is that the cyanogen/android version prior to this latest OTA update? I'm looking for the official cyanogen, not cyanogenmod.
Do you know if I need to root my phone to be able to install it? Presumably I'd lose all my data?
Sorry for all the questions
EDIT: I think you sent the firmware for the Storm?

Ah ok, if you are 100% sure. Cos if it's for the storm it will probably hard brick the phone!

No its a signed Zip so should install on a stock ROM but be careful if you are downgrading the bootloader as that has been known to brick phones.
As far as I know the swift won't be bricked by this. But if you are worried I would use the fastboot zip and use a script to make sure everything is wiped first.

You don't need a custom recovery that is the whole point of it being a signed zip
unzip first?

if you can find the 12.1 fastboot zip you can revert back to factory reset stock by fastboot flashing:
Code:
fastboot flash splash splash.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash hyp hyp.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
and
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash system system.img
PM me if you cannot find cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2FI-crackling-signed-fastboot-07863145a7.zip
Hi, could you please confirm if this worked? I'm on a completely stock Swift with OTA to Cyanogen OS13. I'm finding the battery life disappointing so want to try downgrading to 12.1

With adb in fastboot (bootloader) mode:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
Code:
fastboot reboot recovery
Or in TWRP select images under install and flash your TWRP.img

Sweet, it's done... I was afraid that I was gonna mess up something by dirty flashing over current, but it works great!
Next time ask isolated questions in Q&A section, this is not dev related.
For future updates and stuff like that you can flash TWRP by using flashify. Tested on my OP3 and it works.
