Hey everyone! This is my first post to XDA forums EVER, and I need a lot of help since I'm a newbie to how Android flashing works, so go easy on me
So as the title suggests, I want to flash my Asus Zenfone 2 with the stock rom. My current build number is: LRX21V.WW-ASUS_Z00A-2.20.40.97_20150917_1572_user044030427_201501060109
The reason I want to flash the stock rom again is because I removed some of the bloatware from my phone (such as BBL actors for omlet) and other crap, but some of it won't let me reinstall, and because of me removing some of the bloatware crap, I can't use some features on my phone. I've tried flashing supposed stock roms before for my phone from a windows CMD prompt, but they failed to write (for whatever reason?).
I'm rooted with some 1-tap windows cmd prompt thing, have a locked bootloader (thats the thing to install custom roms, right?) and the stock recovery (tried using the TWP app to flash the TWP recovery, but it didn't seem to work, and would just leave the normal recovery?)
I've come here for the intelligent minds to help me out! Please help lol
Have you tried to use adb sideload command into recovery mode?

You have to flash the stock recovery, then, enter in recovery mode an flash the official ROM via cmd. You can follow this tutorial www.asuszenfoneblog.com/2015/04/how-to-flash-asus-zenfone-2-via-adb.html
Hope this can help you.

You're welcome my buddy.

Won't that just update the O.S? I heard ADB sideload in the recovery just updates the O.S to a newer version? And why would this work, but not fastboot? Alsol, does ADB sideload work if USB debugging is off?

Hey guys
it's an OLD issue with my phone, some of you were able to help me before, and I hope it is the same CASE again.
I'm unable to update my Phone to correct the HEARTBLEED BUG!!
& Can't ROOT it!!
I think the problem is with the MASTER USB, whatever that is
because whenever I try to update it or root it, it says CAN'T OPEN Master USB!
I followed EVERY STEP available on the WORLD WIDE WEB , yet my phone is called a SMART PHONE !

First you must be with stock rom and stock recovery if you want to update the phone and the phon must be not rooted. Second when you go in bootloader first go in bootloader and then connect the phone to computer and you will not see this massage
Well, even when I go into the bootloader and connect my USB, NOTHING happens!
Please see the pic.

Hey,
I tried using TWRP Manager and Flashify to flash TWRP 2.8.x on my phone. I believe it broke my recovery. I'm assuming I can just use adb to re-flash a recovery to fix recovery on my phone. Can anyone back this up?
Thanks
What other options do you have ? Reflash it via fastboot commands.

The M8 compatible version is supported on the M8....
There are threads for that. There is more to explore than the Q&A section

Yea that's where I checked to see if I could use 2.8.x..... so I tried flashing it from fastboot it says okay but my phone is stuck trying to enter recovery. When I try flashing 2.7.x it'll try to enter recovery and then reboot back to regular.. any ideas? When I do adb devices it lists the phone as attached in recovery
I used Flashify that works pretty nicely

Yea I just flashed PhilZ on my phone and that seems to be a working custom recovery thanks guys although I don't understand why I was using TWRP 2.7.x fine before and now it won't work
I tried the manager app at first myself and it was force closing.
Then I installed busybox and terminal emulator and input some manual commands to get it to flash it manually. Works now

are you using TWRP?
Older twrp might have worked because you maybe had an older firmware. If you have the new firmware try the 2.8.4 again. Should work.

Make Sure the LG Usb drivers are installed. Then The phone must be off. After that hold the Volume Up button, plug in the usb cable to the computer while holding the volume up button. Let go only when you see the screen get to the download mode. Only then can you use the LG Flash tool for KDZ

That is exactly what I did when I plug in my phone it shows the download mode icons in the middle for about 0.3 sec and goes straight to the "fastboot mode started" with the whole screen black. it does it very fast it doesn't go to the downloading firmware part

If download mode doesn't work you need to push these files fastboot with adb commands. Go to THEPagel's thread with all the stock zips and extract those out and push each and every individual files via fastboot. Remember you need fastboot and adb installed on your computer before proceeding. If you are new to fastboot and adb then suggest searching for a tutorial on that before even attempting this.

why don't you just flash a stock 5.0 lollipop rom that isn't rooted. Don't flash su and then you'll have a stock rom without root and twrp.

like I said in my other post. Download a stock 5.0 lollipop rom. After your done flashing don't flash twrp. It's going to ask you that you're not rooted and if you will like to root. Press no then reboot. There you go back to stock without twrp and root.
ThePagel has an untouched stock rom

From what I've read it seems that you have to unlock bootloader to do this. Which is something I am finding hard to digest.
Do I really need to unlock bootloader to flash official build? Or is there some official way which I can't seem to find?

Didn't find a way without data wipe.. but my bootloader is locked and never rooted on this OP3, as long as your OP3 is encrypted I don't think there is a way without loosing data.
I have completely wiped the system using stock recovery and now I can't flash anything. When I try to sideload it says can't read the zip file.
I've tried with both community and official zip.
Any idea what's going on?

Seems like adb drivers issue (on Windows?) many are facing. What worked for me is to cut/paste zip to desktop and then immediately cut/paste back to adb folder (without closing command prompt) and typing adb sideload zip again..
See if it helps..

Had that issue recently. Just rebooted my PC, and that fixed it.
My oneplus 3 has no OS installed. I am unable to install the stock os because my it states that my devices is "" and the one I am trying to install is for oneplus 3. PLEASE HELP.
Do you have unlocked bootloader?
Do you have custom recovery?
Can you boot the device to fastboot or recovery?
Did you try using flashing tools to flash a ROM?
Do you have root permission, adb or you have OEM unlock enabled?
Lastly, Is your phone in bootloop or is soft/hard bricked?
To ask for help you need to provide necessary information first.

My phone is soft bricked. My bootloader is unlocked and there is a custom recovery which is blu spark. Also I do have root permission. Seems like my os is completely wiped, so my phone is stated as " " . When I try to install through recovery, it states that the zip file is for oneplus 3 and that my device is " ".
Have you tried solving your softbrick?
Try this:
Back up your data.
Flash the original TWRP.
Flash your desired ROM.
Make sure that the ROM you're trying to flash is meant for your device.
Don't forget the necessary drivers, fastboot tools, and cleaning dalvik cache once you're done.
Also flashing a ROM means losing root access, you may want to flash magisk again.
