[Q] Broke TWRP recovery after using TWRP Manager - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I tried using TWRP Manager and Flashify to flash TWRP 2.8.x on my phone. I believe it broke my recovery. I'm assuming I can just use adb to re-flash a recovery to fix recovery on my phone. Can anyone back this up?
Thanks

What other options do you have ? Reflash it via fastboot commands.

Alright when I get home I'll give it a shot and give an update thanks! And also what version of TWRP is supported on the M8?

The M8 compatible version is supported on the M8....
There are threads for that. There is more to explore than the Q&A section

Yea that's where I checked to see if I could use 2.8.x..... so I tried flashing it from fastboot it says okay but my phone is stuck trying to enter recovery. When I try flashing 2.7.x it'll try to enter recovery and then reboot back to regular.. any ideas? When I do adb devices it lists the phone as attached in recovery

I used Flashify that works pretty nicely

Yea I just flashed PhilZ on my phone and that seems to be a working custom recovery thanks guys although I don't understand why I was using TWRP 2.7.x fine before and now it won't work

I tried the manager app at first myself and it was force closing.
Then I installed busybox and terminal emulator and input some manual commands to get it to flash it manually. Works now

are you using TWRP?

Older twrp might have worked because you maybe had an older firmware. If you have the new firmware try the 2.8.4 again. Should work.

You will want to install your recovery using a cmd prompt. Our phone is S-on, so you may run into difficulty trying to use goo for a recovery installation. MAKE A BACKUP ONCE YOU GET TWRP INSTALLED!!!!
If you want cm10 you will need to get your twrp up and running first, download your desired cm10 zip to your computer, open archives using 7zip, copy the boot img from the rom zip to your working fastboot folder (assuming that you have fastboot set up since you got this far), open a cmd window and navigate to your fastboot folder using the command cd c:\yourfastbootfoldername.
Once your rom is installed, reboot to bootloader. Plug your phone into your pc, it should switch from fastboot to fastboot usb. Use the command fastboot flash boot boot.img. You should now be able to reboot your phone and enjoy cm10!

You should install kernel that given on every ROM thread, and not always HELLBOY.
Unlocked bootloader doesn't mean that your phone is S-Offed, it is different.

There is a whole lot more work to get the device s-off. Your kernel is the boot img that I mentioned earlier. I am PrimoC, so I don't have experience with hellboy, but I do have to flash a new kernel with every rom. If you are going from one cm10 to another cm10, you might be safe, but I wouldn't chance it. Unlocking your bootloader allows you to flash kernels. It doesn't give you s-off.

Is this working with 4.4.2 roms?
Where did this come from?? A new recovery! Going to try this once I get my hands on the tablet. I wonder if it allows flashing 4.4 roms + old roms. Thank you so much! This device has a "recovery allergy", I hope this one will be fully working

Nop, 4.2.2 . I mean, it would be good for us to have the capability to switch from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 and vice-versa without the need to change the recovery. I find myself doing that quite often
Well call me noob, but when i downloaded the file for the tf300t, it is an img type file. How do i utilize that to install this rom? Sorry for noob question. Thank you in advance.
To flash old roms on kk recovery, you can just update the update-binary in zip

Nice recovery, It the best Ive ever come across. I Dev for CMB ROMS, I have made a flashable zip, so you can flash it from your current recovery.... I have this posted in the Download tab of my ROM forum... Its not my recovery, all credits will be given to Phil3759 It can be linked and given away as any open source recovery, I only say this on the ok of Phil3759, If he would like me to remove it, I will... Untill I here from him.. Here is a nice and easy way to install the best recovery to date for our beloved 300... Thx as always lj
The changelog says the recovery is "Kitkat ready".
Does this mean we can use it for flashing both 4.2-4.3 and 4.4 roms?
WITHOUT having to swap recoveries when going back and forth from Kitkat to JellyBean?
Thanks...

Install HiSuite (it will install drivers for your device), ADB on your PC.
Unlock bootloader if you did not.
Extract recovery image from your actual firmware, using Huawei Update Extractor.
Flash recovery via fastboot by the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
You can find in this forum how to accomplish every step.

huawei p6s seems to have a rollback action even when you are rooted.
You cannot delete any system app because they are restored when you restart your phone. In addition, you cannot edit build.prop, as you are not allowed to save the file. Do you know Kostyan_nsk what we should do to change permissions?
P.S. I have rooted the phone and I have flashed TWRP.

Would this explain the error that I'm getting?
Package expects build fingerprint of htc/tmous/htc_m8:4.4.4/KTU84P/396641.2:user/release-keys or htc/tmous/htc_m8:5.0.1/htc_m8: 5.0.1/LRX22C/464190.4:user/release-keys.; this device has htc/tmous/htc_m8:4.4.3/KTU84L/365360.5/user/release-keys.
I flashed stock recovery, but my phone is still root. Did a full wipe/restore, still getting same thing. The error looks like it's not happy about a missing update perhaps, if I'm reading that correctly. Best I know, I have the latest kitkat version. But, I've had twrp for awhile so maybe I missed an OTA update along the way.

For me (I am s-on) I did it in this order:
- flashed twrp stock rom
- rebooted and made sure the rom worked
- flashed stock recovery via fastboot
- rebooted and downloaded and installed OTA.
If you are s-off I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) you can use the RUU instead.
I did have a wifi issue which was solved by a factory wipe ( yes I had to re-install and setup the phone again).

Flash Stock Rom Asus_Z00AD

Hey everyone! This is my first post to XDA forums EVER, and I need a lot of help since I'm a newbie to how Android flashing works, so go easy on me
So as the title suggests, I want to flash my Asus Zenfone 2 with the stock rom. My current build number is: LRX21V.WW-ASUS_Z00A-2.20.40.97_20150917_1572_user044030427_201501060109
The reason I want to flash the stock rom again is because I removed some of the bloatware from my phone (such as BBL actors for omlet) and other crap, but some of it won't let me reinstall, and because of me removing some of the bloatware crap, I can't use some features on my phone. I've tried flashing supposed stock roms before for my phone from a windows CMD prompt, but they failed to write (for whatever reason?).
I'm rooted with some 1-tap windows cmd prompt thing, have a locked bootloader (thats the thing to install custom roms, right?) and the stock recovery (tried using the TWP app to flash the TWP recovery, but it didn't seem to work, and would just leave the normal recovery?)
I've come here for the intelligent minds to help me out! Please help lol

Won't that just update the O.S? I heard ADB sideload in the recovery just updates the O.S to a newer version? And why would this work, but not fastboot? Alsol, does ADB sideload work if USB debugging is off?
