I RECENTLY UPDATED MY LG G3 TO LOLLIPOP 5.0 AND I CANT OPEN SUPER SU, I TRIED DOING ABOUT 5 DIFFERENT THINGS TO UNROOT MY PHONE... WHEN I DO THE PROCESS WHERE I PLUG USB INTO COMPUTER AND HOLD THE VOLUME DOWN WHILE PLUGGING IT IN, THE PHONE WONT DOWNLOAD IT STAYS AT 0%. .. THE LG FLASH TOOL I CANT DOWNLOAD. IT KEEPS BRINGING UP ERRORS.. I TRIED DOWNLOADING FROM 3 DIFFERENT PLACES... I JUST WANT TO GET BACK TO MY STOCK PHONE....
After trying all of that to remove the issue when launching SuperSU "There is no SU BINARY installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!", it still isn't resolved.

Make Sure the LG Usb drivers are installed. Then The phone must be off. After that hold the Volume Up button, plug in the usb cable to the computer while holding the volume up button. Let go only when you see the screen get to the download mode. Only then can you use the LG Flash tool for KDZ

That is exactly what I did when I plug in my phone it shows the download mode icons in the middle for about 0.3 sec and goes straight to the "fastboot mode started" with the whole screen black. it does it very fast it doesn't go to the downloading firmware part

If download mode doesn't work you need to push these files fastboot with adb commands. Go to THEPagel's thread with all the stock zips and extract those out and push each and every individual files via fastboot. Remember you need fastboot and adb installed on your computer before proceeding. If you are new to fastboot and adb then suggest searching for a tutorial on that before even attempting this.

why don't you just flash a stock 5.0 lollipop rom that isn't rooted. Don't flash su and then you'll have a stock rom without root and twrp.

like I said in my other post. Download a stock 5.0 lollipop rom. After your done flashing don't flash twrp. It's going to ask you that you're not rooted and if you will like to root. Press no then reboot. There you go back to stock without twrp and root.
ThePagel has an untouched stock rom

Thanks alot man I will try that later today thanks

Are you rooted? If you arent, you should be able to get the update straight from google because you won't be able to flash it without your phone being rooted and also without a custom recovery. Do you have cwm or twrp?
If you have the official zip from Google, you can use thishttp://rootzwiki.com/topic/13819-how-tovzw-return-to-factory-state-unroot-and-relock/ as a guide. You'll have to change the file names, but it's a start.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Since the user is not knowlegable, I suggest wugfresh's toolkit because its a one-click thing.
*if you are rooted
You just plug your phone in and click flash stock + unroot. This will download the newest firmware and also put into your device for you. Also use the OEM lock if you don't went to be rooted anymore.

It goes into fastboot mode by itself. Or do you mean that ADB is not found?
If ADB is not found then go to settings > about phone > and tap build number 7 times
Then hit back and go into developers options and tick android debugging and try it again.
An alternative way is to power your phone OFF and click volume up + volume down + power button all at the same time! This will put it into fastboot mode and when you plug in your phone and click unroot device, instead of having device is on/normal, have the other option ticked instead

All ROMs have their advantages. Now it depends on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for performance, I would suggest Vanir, AOSPA, Rubik
If you are looking for visual customizations then CM, AOKP are awesome
You will also find more ROMs which are a combination of 2 or more ROMs.
Just go through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1339
Choose something, flash it!
Since every phone is unique, you will have to fins the "best ROM" yourself!
Happy flashing bud!

[Q] Can't get Recovery/Root. Need help please.

I NOW HAVE ROOT AND RECOVERY!
Thanks to mariostar32 and krankdroid!
Hi all,
I've just bought a Note II and am trying to get root. I've followed this tutorial carefully
HTML:
http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-on-linuxubuntu/
and everything completes without error, but whenever I try and boot into recovery it just get a garbled Samsung boot logo and it never gets to recovery.
Now I can't go back to stock updates since my device has been modified, so I'm commited to getting root and custom recovery now.
Can anyone help me with what is going wrong?
Thanks
download the last version 4.1.2 and flash it via odin. If you need any help tell me.

I can no longer download updates from Samsung since I have tried to root it already.
I can't use Odin since I don't have Windows.
I have tried the method in the link above using Heimdall (Odin equiv. for Linux) and everything went fine (no errors, terminal output was as expected) but cannot get into any recovery (stock or custom)
Before you proceed with tutorial, make sure:
You have installed your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 USB drivers on your PC.
You need to enable USB debugging mode which is deactivated by default.
You smartphone should have 70-80% charge remaining.
Your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 should be factory unlocked.
Backup your important data like Call logs, SMS and other data in stored in phone memory so in case if anything goes wrong, your data is not hurt.
The update is only meant for Galaxy Note 2 N7100, so don’t try it on other variants.
Step 1) Download Android 4.1.2 XXDLK7 for Galaxy Note 2 N7100. " I can't post outside links so type in google galaxy note 2 xxdlk7 "
Step 2) Download ODIN v3.07. It's an old version but you can download a newer version of odin from google but it works np
Step 3) Turn OFF your mobile and go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home Buttons together for few seconds followed by Power button until you see Android logo with triangle on screen.
Step 4) Now open ODIN on your PC and connect your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 to your computer.
Step 5) Once your phone is successfully connected to your PC, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn yellow and will show the COM port number.
Step 6) Select the downloaded file to install by following below steps:
Click on PDA and select file with HOME or CODE in its name.
Now click on Phone and select file with MODEM in its name.
Next click on CSC and select file with CSC in its name.
At last click on PIT and select file with .pit.
Step 7) Again to to ODIN window and check Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.
Step 8) Click on Start button in ODIN window to start the installation process. The process will take few minutes to complete.
Step 9) When the installation is completed, your phone will restart. I hope that i helped you GoodLuck

I can't use Odin, there is no Linux version.
I've found the TWRP for the Note II:
HTML:

Does anyone know if I flash the latest .img file from that using Heimdall will that give me a recovery to then install Super-SU from?
I've only just bought this phone and can't afford to buy another if I brick it, so I'm hesitant to just try without some expert knowledge.
you must be rooted first before putting twrp.

Ok, so how can I root it?
The only Linux tutorial I've found doesn't work since I can't get a working recovery in order to install Super-SU and get root.
Is there another way to get root? Or another method that might give me a recovery so I can get root?
Ok after you did the tutorial you got rooted or not ? download root check from play store and check

No I do not have root. I wish to get root access and install a recovery, then Super-SU.
Try this, It's a root way without odin.

You can get the mobile Odin that let's you flash firmware from the device itself.

Great! I'll get that to install TWRP or CWM then, since Heimdall seems to be corrupting the recovery when flashing it.
I've got root now (thanks to mario above!) so mobile odin is a good option
Thanks!

No download mode on phone any longer!

I was on Validus latest version 20B bootstack and was having issues ,so I decided to unroot back to stock to start from a clean slate. Meanwhile, a friend trying to help installed 10r instead of 10c as I had asked him to do . I have no data and after doing some reading this is an issue with downgrading to 10r.Also there is something having to do with twrp and losing recovery mode. Now I have a phone with no data or fastboot mode. I've tried the adb/fastboot route to no aval. I'm not really versed in this method. I have the d851 model in white. I really need some help! So use this to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g...lipop-t3056951
Then go to TWRP's official site and download the d851 latest twrp.img. Put that on your external SD card. Install flashify and install TWRP with the .img you just download. This should give you root and twrp back on your phone in less then 10 minutes depending on internet connection. From there you can do what ever you want, but probably should stick to Lollipop roms since going back to KK will have connection issues.

You have 2 problems here:
1) You need a stock (never rooted) ROM to install OTA. Unrooting won't work.
2) You need stock recovery to install OTA. Won't install by TWRP.
Find your correct stock TWRP backup, restore it, then flash the corresponding stock recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

Not enough info. Once you get the PC to recognize phone by fastboot, do fastboot getvar all, then post the results (delete IMEI and serial number).
Also need to know what TWRP backup number you tried to restore.
Thanks for the reply....managed to install adb and fastboot then send zip file over..all back up and running now
