I don't see any option to change stock dialer anywhere. Why can't we change it? Do we need root to change it?

You can't change it, it's 'Contacts (Default)' under Phone app. I have Fongo, Hangout Dialer but none appeared as options to be as the default dialer

What rom are you using? Normally it should be possible to change it in Settings > System > SMS Threading.

Let's see. I'm using this ROM, the clean version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542664
The Dutch version does have a system menu in the settings menu, but nothing I can see about sms threading.
Ok let's just do it the old-fashioned way then.
Go to
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM]
And set
SMSInboxThreadingDisabled, DWORD =1.

what do you have downloaded?
you can download launchers just straight from the market. once its installed, press home and you'll see a pop up asking which launcher you want to choose. you can also use this app called home switcher to choose your launchers.
I saw one posted in a thread...

PM me if you need more help.
I don't know if that link was a rom... BUT you do not need to be rooted to change launcher. Disable sense. Download launcher- I have launcherpro.. the launcher on the link looks like some version of adw.
To disable sense: settings>applications> manage applications> scroll down to htc sense > Scroll to the Launch by default section and tap the Clear Defaults button> Directly below in the Controls section, tap the Force Stop button, and press OK
You have now disabled the Sense UI overlay. It's still there, just not running.
Press the Home button and select Launcher (If you want to keep it this way for a while, check the box to set this as the default option)
Hi all,
just updated to build 9. Awesome ROM, but i found these annoying SoftNav buttons after flashing.. Could not find any option to disable the SoftNav bar. Is there any way to get rid of it?
Settings > Chromium ROM settings > Expanded desktop > Status bar visible. Hold power button for a few seconds until power menu comes up and then choose Expanded desktop.
Got it!
Tricky.. Thanks a lot!
Thanks, were looking for that, too.
Also, you posted some recommended settings here. Where do I find those options?

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't have that option in the menu. Is that any possible?
Just to verify it, I uploaded screenshots of my menu. There is no "performance".

Oops sorry about that. To enable the performance section you need to go to about phone and tap on build number 7 times. Then it should appear along with developer settings.
Hi,
Since the update to kitkat and emui 2.3 on my huawei ascend p6 i've been having problems with the chatheads off the facebook messenger app. When i receive a message there's a notification in the drop down menu, but no chathead is poping up on the screen. The only way to open it is trough the notificationbar. The settings are set on active so that isn't the problem! In the beginning i received a short message: messenger blocked to show dropzone...
Am i the only one facing this problem? And does somebody have a solution for it?
Take care!

Have you tried restoring factory settings and reinstalling facebook messenger and other apps ?
It sounds like the pop up permissions may have been revoked during the update.

are you rooted?
if so..you have to edit the build.prop file on line with privacymode=false to true and in the line with delstartupmanager=true just remove the "del"..
the build.prop is found in ../system/
the do a restart and open the phonemanager again..on the second page there you should see two more options..
and in the general settings of the manager you should be able to configure the dropzone manager..

there is no option of restoring factory setting ,there is only factory reset.I tried reinstalling nothing happened.
actually there is no other method i know how to configure the dropzone..
drop app show or dropzone headchat messenger ?
first step go to your setting/mannage apps/ on the above setting you will see reset app preference and sort by size/ choose reset app preference to turn back all apps setting in a original setting and thats it your headchat its appear on your screen.. thank you!! take note this solution is according to my expirience on my huawei p7 but try to look reset app references im sure you have function like this. thanks!!
There is a method to activate dropzone. First your device must be rooted and ROM Toolbox Pro instaled. Than change ro.config.hw_privacymode=false to ro.config.hw_privacymode=true

Thank you very much! I was getting so frustrated. This was such a simple fix and I've been trying to figure it out for days! I kept getting a message about a dropzone setting every time I got a Facebook messenger chat head. This worked perfectly for my Fusion 3! :highfive::victory:
Thanks

I recently purchased a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, the only thing I did not like about the smartphone was DPI, I was wondering if I can change the DPI without ROOT, since I did not find the option in the developer options.

I Don't own a Note 5A.But if it is running on nougat then there is a option to change display size. This must be in Settings>Display>Display Size or try searching Display Size in Settings app.
Sorry for my bad English.

Unfortunately this option is not available, the only available option is to decrease the size of the text.
Update 1:
I managed to decrease the size using the tutorial below.

I already managed to change the DPI, but this option is not available in the developer settings or in the screen configuration, the only way I found to change was to follow the tutorial above.
Do you have Chinese or Global version? I have Global, MIUI 9.2 and there is no option for DPI, only Text size in Display menu...
Thanks

I'm using the Global version (V9.2.3.0.NDKMIEK), to find the option, you will have to install the "More Shortcuts" application, after installing the application and start it, click "Activity" and type in the "Vision Settings" search box, the option will appear, click the "Blue" button that the Vision option will be started. Then you can change the "DPI" size.
