3 or 3T? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

At specs the 3T is slightly better (cpu, front camera, battery) is there any difference in battery life?
Any bugs?
Any rear camera difference? Or its just the same? (sew somewhere maybe at gsmarena photo compare, that the 3T the pictures more blurry and noisy then regular 3)

Few examples from gsmarena, it looks like the 3T is noisy, and even much more at low light
The ISO is 100 (vs 125 on 3) but it should be more smooth and sharp.
Why is the camera shots are that different?

They are essentially same hardware (on the rear cam)so the difference is in software only which will make its way to 3. One thing that 3t has eis2.0 but I will affect more in videos

3T is better

People say that OnePlus stop the sale of 3. If that's true 3t it's better..

They may bring it back... But oneplus never has enough stock.. Always running out or low. I had to wait 3 weeks for mine but camera didn't work so I had to send in for rma and then wait two weeks to get new one... Long story short, oneplus may sell 3.. Just like oneplus 2 was still selling till this year

How bad is the camera vs flagships of 2 years ago?

Not expecting S7 edge/7+ quality here.
Coming from S5, is it better/worse/equal?
Seems like this is the only weakness of the device, at $250 on LeMall Black Friday can't ask for much more!
Snapdragon 821 with 4000 battery, it makes everyone else look like a joke.

It's better than my S5, Nexus 6 and OnePlus one cameras. It's as good as my 6p and oneplus 2 camera, it's worse than my S6 edge camera and worse than my wife's iPhone 6s camera...just purely objectively but that's how I would rank it in the phones I have used in the last two years.

I also have a nexus 6p, and boy oh boy do i disagree. 6p camera is hundreds of miles ahead, in daylight its quite better with details and especially with dynamic range, and in low light photos are about same quality as 6p front camera lmao. But i find 6p camera to be one of the best of all smartphones, so no biggie. Pro 3 has very decent goodlight photos, definitely better than s5, but really suffers in not so good conditions. Video quality is also average at best. To summarise camera is more than decent for social networks and stuff, but if you are into photography and want good pictures i wouldnt recommend this phone. It has many strong sides, camera isnt one of them.

I agree with you mostly, but the speed of the 6p camera is really poor. In low light 6p takes good pictures, but only with the HDR mode, and then it becomes even slower.
LP3 is a much faster camera.
No, I am not into photography. For regular 'social networks and stuff' photography I will keep LP3 camera ahead of 6p.
Adding a fun fact. I often video record long class lectures. While using a 6p for recording a 720p video of 90min, the phone gets really hot, and loses more than 50% of the battery. LP3 for the same scenario still runs cool, loses only 20% battery. I guess it's the generation gap of the CPU.
The 6p camera, like the 6p in general was a love hate thing for me. Everytime I thought it had an amazing camera I would get a string of crap photos. Not sure why. Just like everytime I thought it was an amazingly fast phone I would go through a stretch where it was terribly laggy. Felt like I was always factory resetting it...

My note 4 camera is way much better than leeco pro 3
Let's just post some night shoot from the LP3 to compare with our older phone.
The camera is the exact same module that's inside the one plus 3T. It's actually a good camera. The issue is its implementation. The camera can get way better with the right update or ROM.

All professional reviews? Where? show me where they used Google Camera app on Le Pro 3. I have my own comparison. iPhone 7 is pathetic compared to Nexus 5X. Not even better than Galaxy S4.
Here is my comparison of LePro3 using Google Camera App vs. Default vs Default HDR.
Weidas said:
Yes, 1 random photo of a teddybear is sure a "comparison" lmao. And yes, suddenly using a google camera, makes 1.12micrometer camera sensor perform better than 1.55micrometer sensor in nexus lmao. Can you be more ridiculous? Oneplus 3 uses same sensor, + it has ois and way better software optimisation than le pro 3, and its camera is still **** compared to nexus 5x/6p.

I can produce the same amount of comparisons with the same amount of nonsense you are talking about. Galaxy S7 has smaller sensor than Nexus 5X/6P but it peformed better or equal in comparison.
With a little bit of post processing also low light photos should be ok. I think the camera is good enough for me. Attached is an OOC shot and the post-processed version.

Here's the detail was missing~
It's considerably better than my Moto X Pure (aka Style). Much more so in decent light. Just a small bit better in lower light. For $299 (now less even) it's nothing to complain about for sure. If it was on a $650 flagship, I'd be a little disappointed but could still live with just fine if everything else was on point. For me, everything already is on point with the LP3 personally. A CM or AOSP would be just icing on the cake!

I came from the 5x and usually don't think much of camera and audio haters so I don't pay much attention to reviews in these areas. But oh my this camera sucks! Which Google camera apk works with HDR with this phone, maybe that can help it? Play store does not offer Google Camera app for this phone, anyone recommend a link?
Camera seems much improved when using CM 13 or even the Google Camera app on the stock ROM. It still leaves a little to be desired but I like how quick and responsive it is.
Tried Google camera. It doesn't support HDR in Google camera. Pictures in low light are actually worse with the Google app

Coming from N5x, I agree with you. With HDR, not only you get better DR but much better color rendition, even in low light.
With LePro3, Google Camera will not give you HDR but you do get good color rendition of Google Camera. Try the 2.7.010 version linked below. Other versions do not really work, at least on CM.

Anyone disappointed with the Pixel XL camera?

TL;DR: Unhappy with noisy photos/videos from camera. Not sure if I'm being unreasonable, or if this device has hardware/software issues. Your thoughts?
I'm curious as to what other people's thoughts are on the Pixel camera? The pictures and videos on this phone do not seem up to par with what Google represented, or else I possibly received bad hardware. Here's my experience so far...
I ordered the device from the Google Store and received it early December. First thing I did was update the firmware and updated the apps, which included the Google Camera app. Every photo I took, in varying degrees of lighting, seemed to have a great deal of noise or pixelation. Even 4K video in daylight looked like I ran it through a noise filter in editing software. I contacted Google Support and they ran through a series of tests while the engineer was remote viewing my screen. We deleted the Google Camera app's cache/data, put the device in safe mode, and performed a factory reset. After each step the photos looked no better than before. The engineer then stated my hardware was defective and issued an RMA for the device. Now that I'm on my second Pixel XL, I can't say the camera is any better and I'm still disappointed with the results, but I'm reluctant to contact Google again because I feel like it's more than likely a software/firmware issue at this point.
How could both devices (brand new, second was not a refurbished device) have the same hardware defect and this not be a widely reported issue? I've read articles about the "Halo" issue and people having pink lines on the camera viewer, but Google claimed it was software related and I believe they already released a fix. I've also flashed ROMs before on old devices that didn't have proper drivers, which resulted in similar experiences similar to my current problem when I knew for a fact the hardware was just fine.
Anyway, sorry for the meandering post, but I'd love for anyone to share their thoughts about the camera. Does it live up to your expectations and take photos worthy of the highest rated smartphone camera of all time?
In well lit environment, high megapixel cameras win for me due to detail. But for low light, this camera is awesome
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Pictures sometimes turn out fantastic, and sometimes average.
The camera seems to not know what to focus in on which leads to weird looking images. Also, for some reason, my pictures all have a somewhat yellow tint.
Maybe my expectations for "the highest rated smartphone camera...ever" was set a bit too high.
Mr Hoff I would have to say no, as the camera works awesome I would say its the best smartphone camera on the market, and that is even without ois to boot.
As much as I don't wanna admit it but iPhone 7 camera is definitely a better all around camera. There's no debating it. Yes the pixel can beat it out in perfect circumstances taking still photos.. but the iPhone exceeds in more areas.
The pixel is horrible at capturing the slightest movement without blurring the picture. I heard this is because the camera uses a slow shutter speed compared to other devices.
Same thing goes for videos. Taking a video of someone standing there talking.. the pixel will likely win..But try to follow a moving person or object and that's where you notice the lack of OIS and the pixel looses by far.
I take riding pictures (BMX) with a normal DSLR but always have my cell phone to take some pics to.. the pixel doesn't do much better than my s5 did

Yep. This is my biggest issue as well. I have a newborn and half my pictures are blurry due to him moving his arms when I'm taking pics.
Here's what I'm referring to. Granted this is low light, but when the camera does hit the light you can really see the noise I'm referring to. This can't be normal.
4K Video taken tonight: https://goo.gl/photos/MCTbfb96Cpw74bkFA
If you're having issues with motion blur (will be more prominent in middle and low light) disable HDR for those shots. It keeps the "shutter" capturing longer. Your image quality will take a hit but the motion blur should be reduced.

I'm pretty sure that plays a huge part in it. There isn't a smart phone camera that can compare. Once you've become accustomed to the quality of the Sony, it's hard to downgrade. I take it with me to anything that is going to involve low light.

The low light is absolute garbage, worse than the Note 4 I had before it.
I loved my note 7, the panoramas were amazing on that phone. Thought camera was great on pixel but after more use I have some quirks I dislike. If I want to take quality photos or video I bring my Nikon D3300.
Are you guys trying to compare a DSLR vs. a smartphone camera in low light?
Ok, consider this. Low light shots require a lot of light collection. How much bigger is a DSLR lens vs. a smartphone lens.
I'm looking at the Pixel XL lens, and it's about 2.5mm in diameter. That's about 5 mm squared of area.
A DSLR lens would be about 2 inches wide, that's 50.8mm in diameter or about 2000 mm squared of area.
The difference in light captured in low light, with the same exposure, is a factor of 400!
It is a miracle that enough light is even captured by a tiny smartphone camera lens for low light shots. If I were completely unaware of the actual quality of pictures but was only given the specs of both cameras, I would say that they couldn't even be compared!

I'm certainly not comparing a DSLR vs a smartphone. And also an rx100 isn't a DSLR either. My disappointment, which I didn't really mention, was mentally comparing my iPhone 6+ and the Pixel XL. I think I'm having issue with the HDR overcompensating and causing noise.
Edit: To clarify my rx100m3 comment, I just wished that a smartphone camera quality could improve to the point where I would be comfortable leaving the rx100m3 at home sometimes. I thought the Pixel would bring me closer to that dream, but it hasn't.

I think this is not a general consensus, but this is what I got out of reviews of modern flagship phone cameras.
iPhone 7, Galaxy S7, Pixel cameras have similar capabilities in terms of hardware. What makes a difference is the software processing and noise reduction.
Galaxy S7 seems to have the best algorithms for noise reduction, and the fastest autofocus in very dark scenery. That means less noise, and sharper photos in the dark for the Galaxy. Pixel has an excellent HDR, with good color reproduction in HDR screnery, where dark and bright objects are present simultaneously. iPhone has a good all around camera not excelling at any particular feature.
That said, all smartphone cameras are not even close to large dedicated cameras - the sizes of lenses and sensors are literally two orders of magnitude better in low light. At the current level of technology, you cannot replace a large camera with a smartphone in low light.
Honestly, there's really not much of an upgrade from the 6P to the Pixel camera.
I've actually been pretty impressed. Coming from the S7 Edge the Pixel does not offer huge improvements in any single area, but subtle improvements across the board. When it comes to the camera, I spent weeks and hundreds of shots in different settings trying to decide which camera was better as I was weighing the decision of which device to keep. Ultimately, I found them both to be great but the Pixel seemed to do a little better when taking shots of my kids who are 1, 3 and 5 and are thus always moving and very active. I'm quite surprised with some of the comments in this thread because I've been quite pleased. When comparing photos to those of my wife's iPhone 6s+, the gap becomes a little larger and the Pixel is significantly better in most every situation, especially with moving targets. I cannot comment on comparisons to the iP7 because I don't have one and would only base my opinion on the many reviews I've read and watched over the last month or so. The one aspect of my S7 Edge camera I really miss is the wide angle FFC and probably the S7 Edge low light performance overall.
In all honesty, I do have mild regrets about keeping the Pixel and selling the S7Edge. Overall I think the S7 is a slightly better device with its design, waterproofing, form factor, and features. But the Pixel is solid enough to get me through to Pixel XL 2 or Galaxy S9.

The RX100 is darn good and can give some of the lower DSLR/mirrorless camera competition. The video you posted is the incredibly hard for a sensor this size and we know the pixel is not great at low light. RX100 is also a excellent F/1.8 lense on it.
I think you are just expecting too much out of a sensor much smaller than the RX100s. Assuming the IMX 378 has the same aspect ratio to the RX100 it is 4.1 time smaller in area.
IMX378 - 7.81mm diagonal (28mm^2 assuming same W/H ratio as RX100)
RX100 III - 8.8mm x 13.2mm, 15.86mm diagonal, 116.16mm^2
If you are comfortable shooting manual and RAW try it on the pixel (manual camera is simple and effective). It will at least show you the limits of the sensor and should help you understand when and why it will fall on it face in certain lighting conditions. It will also so you why HDR+ is so amazing.

I would not agree that the S7 has better image processing. It is by far the worst by overdoing the noise reduction and overcompensating with too much sharpening. It is a better sensor/lense underneath though.

I am sorry, but do you own any of the phones/cameras in question? Do you speak from experience or from rumor mill?

Would you recommend buying Mi 5S?

I'm currently using Mi 5S Plus which I like a lot. However, it would be nice to have secondary phone with a smaller footprint and a better rear camera (for stills). I'm not 100% satisfied with the camera quality, compared to my old Sony Xperia Z1c. I do hope that this will be a little improved with the next global image release. I tend to get not fully sharp images while making pictures of text, as if in the last moment the camera decides to make them a little soft.

Or you decide to not hold the camera still. It is called camera shake. Try it in full sunlight to force the camera to use a fast shutter speed and then check the sharpness. I bet it is sharp as hell.
My camera makes very good pictures. it is miles ahead of my old Nexus 6p camera.
Trust me, I hold it very still

if xiaomi share the kernel sources of this phone,i recomend you buy this! but no diffrent between mi5s plus and mi5s.both of them has the same hardware.
I was incredibly annoyed with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that had 20% hit rate and awkward body shape on mi5s which has buttons almost on the back of the phone, and the camera on mi5s plus. Also the lack of Nougat and Google assistant on both.
Now I have zte axon 7.

The fingerprint hit rate was bad on my Note 5 but not 20%. I just learned to place my finger on the same area/angle and my hit rate went up.
However, if it was raining and some moisture was on the sensor, it would not work well again.
I just think fingerprint technology is still ways away. You don't want to have any false positives so they lean on not able to unlock.
Actually there is a clear quality difference between the "traditional" scanner on my Redmi 4 Pro and the ultra sonic one on my Mi 5s. The hit rate on my Redmi 4 is nearly 100% (although I don't use the phone every day and can't exactly give numbers), but it is more reliable then on my 5s. I don't know though if it's easier to fake the finger on the Redmi than on the 5s.

I really like the mi5s, but take into account that mine is rooted, I disabled MIUI (memory) optimization, set most of my frequently used apps to be locked so they load near instantly when multitasking etc.
The camera by the way is absolutely excellent - I'm a hobbyist photographer for many years (using 'traditional' real cameras) and this is the first smartphone I've had that is good enough for me to not take my other 'real' camera with me as the photos from the mi5s are really that good. It has a very good optimization of focus accuracy and speed, a pretty good trade off between denoising and sharpening, the white balance is very accurate and the resulting images are sharp consistently across the image, from center to corners.
I'm currently using the EU ROM (7.3.30) and am very happy with the phone.
But, having flashed the lineageOS14.1 unofficial ROM (from April 2017, I d/l it yesterday), I can say that while the mi5s is very fast and all, it can certainly feel snappier in performance when using a more traditional ROM (I tried both lineageOS 14.1 and resurrection remix, both unofficial).
I am sticking with the MIUI rom because the stock camera app is much more reliable for consistently well balanced (white balance, sharpening, and denoising) images with fast focusing, much more than any 3rd party app I tried (manual camera, open camera, google camera (which is supposedly similar to the app used on the Google Pixel), a better camera...).
Hope this helps.
This is the best phone i have so far next to LG G3
Battery really good and much better compared to snapdragon 625 devices
And performances much better than snapdragon 820
Would recommended!

I've owned this phone for 2 weeks now. I purchased it for £211 so it is very cheap compared to most other flagships on the market. With the price in mind, it's definitely a great bang for your buck phone.
However, be mindful that the camera is bad (good hardware but terrible software) which result in out of focus photos and the fingerprint scanner is fairly slow. I'm sure a few people will chime in to say that the camera is the best they've ever used but you will ready of many, many more instances of people with a negative experience. The front facing camera is absolutely terrible and every single photo I've taken has been out of focus. Before people criticise my photography ability, I am a hobbyist photographer with a 50D and several L series lenses so I know how to take a decent photo.
So anyway, some sacrifices were made given the price tag so if you're ok with those shortcomings then you should definitely buy it.

Why I am asking is cause the camera on 20X does surprise me in bad way, biggest problem compared to the Vivo Nex is the exposure is way too bright
in darker scenes, but also very high noise levels I am surprised that this was supposed to be the best camera for android...
So that is why I am wondering have any one done a side by side comparison ? While they are the same on paper there could still be software differences that **** things up
Having owned the 20pro and then moving to the 20x i can confirm the cameras are the same. Personally I prefer the 20x as a phone/media consumption device.
Personally I don't find the cameras too bad. But I do hate the camera app. It's not intuitive. If I want to switch from 40mp to wide or zoom I have to mess with the settings and what I'm wanting to photograph has normally moved or gone by then.
I had a 20 pro and now a 20x. I can confirm the camera performance is the same.
That said, I don't find the cameras as good as the pixel 3 or even P20 Pro. Shots in good lighting look washed out, and indoor/low light shots don't properly use HDR so they always look soft. Properly functioning auto-HDR would fix one of these issues
I have the feeling the camera in my HN10 is nearly
nearly as good in my M20X, but specs say M20X is best.
The hyped cameras were one of the reasons I got this phone. The 20x is a great phone and I enjoy using it. but the camera is nowhere near as good as the adverts show.
It beat all the others in the blind camera comparison test on YouTube, so it must be doing something right!
Anyone getting blurred video in the Wide Angle mode?
On the Mate 20 X EVR-L29

Question P6P reviews

While waiting for our phones to arrive, lets post the reviews here:
Google Pixel 6 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro Max - Camera Test Comparison
per above review, P6P is neck to neck with 13Pro Max
Google Pixel 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra - Camera Test Comparison
per above review, P6P and S21U are comparable
I'm honestly a little worried about the SuperSaf camera review. It seems like this may even be a step back from the 5? I didn't have one, but I have a Oneplus 8 Pro and some of these look worse than what I have. Any thoughts?
No macro camera, no lidar for depth. Low light looks questionable

Google Pixel 6 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro Max – ULTIMATE Camera Comparison!ZoneofTech review
P6P is the winner with 17 points vs 13 Pro max with 13 points

this may help macro probably can be improved with fw update
Seeing the same thing on Mrwhosetheboss. Majorly disappointing.
what videos are you guys watching?
The 6p seems to hold up well with the iPhone 13pro max
Short Circuit channel showing how dark the screen is at max brightness compared to the iphone 13 (which I have no interest in), also doesn't look good to me. The speakers also sound way worse it seems. The more I see of this the more this feels like the pro should have started at $700 and not $900. I ordered from best Buy and I can still cancel it, but I don't know what to do.
I don't know about you, but for me personally, Pixel 6 Pro picture quality looks quite good. I'm pretty sure it'll be better than what I currently have i.e. Pixel 3. It still takes good picture.
SuperSaf style camera comparison.

I don't know, almost every review I've read or watched so far place the 6 Pro above the S21 Ultra AND the iphone 13 Pro.
We'll see for ourselves soon enough though.
Watching the Android Central review now and they are using the telephoto as the macro lens and it actually looks really good, so maybe that's why there is no dedicated macro camera. I'm going to watch as many as I can as it seems different people are using this phone in different ways. The bottom line on the video seems to be not great though regardless of who is reviewing it.
Also more confirmation the screen isn't bright enough outside.
For info - from the BBC website. This is about Magic Eraser, de-Blurring and more.

There aren't any. I watched 6 or 7 videos all the way through. At best the Pixel is on par with the iphone in picture, worse in some areas, better in others, and objectively worse across the board in video.
Considering I will never own an iphone I'm more interested in how it compares to my OP8 pro, which I doubt I'll find a video on.
Also keep in mind Google is comparing to a mid range budget phone in the 5....so this "jump" is a jump for THAT phone, not compared to others in a lot of cases.
9 to 5 Google review. They like it.
This I like the best when it comes to Pixel 6 review. It seems like most of the reviewer missed the macro capability of Pixel 6 Pro zoom lens. Which IMO looks way better than iPhone 13 Pro/Max.

shame Google missed the boat on macro mode not being as good as Samsung or Apple! I use macro more then portrait mode
