4.4 kitkat 4 our p6

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in charge of operations. Due to its incredibly slim profile and older generation quad-core processor, it was plagued with over-heating issues. We are not sure if those were resolved by Huawei, but if not, now is a good time for the company to make some optimizations and improvements.
The Huawei Ascend P6 was just officially confirmed to get the Android 4.4 KitKat treatment. The Chinese have taken it to Baidu to announce that the super slim smartphone will be getting the latest major Android release in January. Alongside it will come the new version of the company's proprietary Emotion UI.
Huawei is among the first to announce its KitKat upgrade plans, but is surely not the only one to skip Android 4.3 and move straight to the new KitKat version.
Android 4.4 KitKat was announced on the last day of October. It brings Project Svelte UI optimizations, bigger UI icons, removes the widgets from the app drawer, new Hangouts SMS/MMS/Gtalks unified hub, new Email app, new Phone app with nearby search and more. It even lowers the hardware requirements for the Android OS.
And the Ascend P6 owners will be able to enjoy all of these new features in just two months. http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_p6_gets_android_44_kitkat_in_january-news-7195.php
all i hope ... they allow us to put widgets in lockscreen :crying:

That's really bad news because if we don't get the update before G6 launch we'll probably never see oreo on the G5, it's going be forgotten by lenovo.

they said the same for the G4 series and then didn't even updated to nougat as of today, 2 years+ later.
They updated Moto G4 series Unlocked variants to 7.0 and 7.1.1
The worst ever software update service i ever had. Thought samsung was the worst. But its non other than Moto. I bought this phone just because... Thinking that it will be stock Android, it will update quickly.. and will have better support. Moto used to be ahead of evey other , right behind nexus / pixel devices in terms of software update. But soon after Lenovo acquired moto, software update is a nightmare for every single moto phone.
You may have seen xda portal news about moto g6 series. Well they too wont be getting much support either.
I bought this phone as my secondary phone... I will give this to mom and will buy something like xiaomi note 5 or Zenfone pro m1 . I have a pixel 2 xl as primary.. evey time it gets update notification... I desperately check software update on this too. Now its on march 1 security update. I am looking forward to 64bit official os. Hope Lenovo will do it atlest in two years.
Btw.. i had only one phone from Lenovo ever before. A6000 just 3 days after i bought it its vibration motor stopped!! And when i searched for the reason , i figured out that it was one of their common problems. So i thought to put in some local vibrator motor from local market.. as going and waiting for service is too time consuming. When i opened the phone. I was literally shocked by the quality of the pcb construction.. it was like cheep chineese phones.. soo bad construction .. lol.. they dont even care to put rf sheilds and cheep quality wires and speakers. Literally... Some Chinese manufacturers make better pcb.. If you compare that pcb with something like nokia 1110 ( ya a phone from almost 10 years back) . Nokia's pcb is still the winner. !! Generations ahead.. still .. That day i decided.. i will never buy a Lenovo product again. And I didn't even care to go to local market and buy a vibration motor for that phone.. i closed it. And after a week, gifted to a friend.
Lol.. p20 and p20 pro.. good they sealed it. Donno what will be inside.
I also bought moto to get quick updates and I think, best solution to get oreo is installing custom rom and voiding warranty. That's so funny, lenovo can't still release oreo, but custom roms are on 8.1

LG V30 Desktop Mode Android 10

Can someone with access to Android 10 on LG V30 please try Desktop Mode, as it seems to be available in Android 10: https://m.twitch.tv/videos/539056427
This would be so cool! I am currently enjoying something similar (in terms of using the phone on a large screen keyboard mouse etc) with HP Elite X3, but the apps are limited for Windows mobile, so I would rather use the dock which came with HP for my LG V30...
I am currently on Android 9, everything works well so far, I would rather not reinstall everything (by trying Android 10) only to find out that something does not work. The video shows it working on V50, no guarantee that it will work on our V30.
Official android 10 for v30 never happend so...

You are talking about LG stock firmware feature for Android 10. We don't have that and never will.
It's not just vanilla "Android 10". Maybe AOSP devs can add that feature in their "Android 10" ROMs?
I am not a developer, just was able to follow ChazzMat's guide to get Pie and root..
So, if something is not officially provided by LG for V30, it cannot be ported from its younger brother, V50?
I really don't know, is that what you are saying?
I thought lg confirmed android v10 for v30s? Or way it just from some random blog?

Yeah, random blog thing where they don't really know what they are talking about. I read that months ago and got excited, then re-read it and realized they didn't quote any LG sources -- it was their own speculation based on flawed reasoning.
LG V30 (all variants) launched with Nougat and get the two OS upgrades LG always gives. Oreo. Pie.
Plus LG signed Google Enterprise Recommended Device agreement which promised 90 day security updates for two years + one OS update. However, that agreement was predicated on being on Oreo. So, that OS update would be Pie. Once on Oreo, we did start getting more timely updates for awhile and now MOST have Pie. (A few still don't.) Maybe once everyone gets on Pie we will start getting 90 day security updates again? But the two year window ends around mid-year 2020, if the clock started once on Oreo.
The flawed reasoning of that blog for Android 10 was because ONE V30 variant was released in 2018 with Oreo: V30S. So, they thought since the 2018 G7 and V40 are getting Android 10, that the V30S would also. NO.
The V30S was a marketing gimmick by LG to try to compete with the early 2018 Galaxy S9/S9+ which had the new Snapdragon 845. Samsung had exclusive rights to that for a few months. So, LG re-released Snapdragon V30+ with 6GB RAM (and Oreo) and tried to claim it was a "new" phone with "ThinQ" AI cam! It wasn't. It was merely V30 updated to Oreo prior to going on sale vs all the other V30 which then got the SAME "ThinQ" Oreo update a couple months later. All V30 on Oreo or later are ThinQ -- V30S was just first. The only difference for the V30S is it has more RAM.
V30S was RELEASED with Oreo already installed -- but was not LAUNCHED with Oreo. If it was LAUNCHED with Oreo it would have Treble. All NEW phones with Oreo (or later) are required to have Treble. V30S does NOT have Treble, nor does any V30 have Treble. Besides the name (V30S) this lack of Treble proves the V30S was an already-existing phone not bound by Oreo requirements for new phones.
Yet, the 2018 G7, V35, V40 all have Treble because they were indeed new phones LAUNCHED with Oreo. Those three phones are eligible for Pie and Android 10. (They already have Pie.)
2018 V30S is a remodeled house, not a brand new house. It's still a V30 "Joan" Snapdragon 835 phone -- a series which LAUNCHED with Nougat and has received all the OS updates promised to it.
Having said that, there's no law that says LG can't give Android 10 to any phone they wish -- V10, V20, V30... But LG doesn't make any money creating, testing, rolling out updates for old phones. They make money selling new phones.

Yes, possibly devs can port that LG stock firmware feature to AOSP LOS-17/Android 10 ROMs for the V30.
I'm not a dev either.

Latest update adds One UI 2.5 to Galaxy A50s

From what I can tell the One UI 2.5 firmware update for the Galaxy A50s is presently available only in Vietnam, but as always, the rollout should expand to additional countries soon enough.
What I read is that Galaxy A50s owners can enjoy One UI 2.5 and all its new features such as Bitmoji functionality for Always On Display, an improved camera experience, new Samsung Keyboard features, SOS functionalities for Messages, Google’s navigation gestures for third-party apps and more.
It will also include the November security patches.
Cool. This are the forums for A50 though. Rumours are, it'll come in December.
Samsung support service in the US confirmed that it will come out for the A50 in December if everything goes as planned
Also update for Europe should get out A505FNXXS5BTK1 and the log file said it's 2.5
That's nice but I prefer Google's PixelUI, it's more smoother and not power eater like OneUI.
But for someone who wants to keep with stock, it's probably great news.

Android 12

So do you people think Android 12 official is coming to the Moto G Power 2020?
We should petition Motorola to give us more updates.
I have just recently read an aritcle that indicates the Power G 2020 as a device that will likely receiving Android12 upgrade around 3rd qt of 2022. Perhaps this is the reason that Motorola has a 9% of mobile phone market share, at 3rd place behind Apple (1st, 51%) and Samsung (2nd, 24%). Consistent updates and services win customer loyalty. Because of possible Android 12 upgrade after already Android 11 upgrade, my next 5g device will most likely be another Moto.
It's not getting Android 12. The 2021 G Power won't get updated to 12 either.
