You have drivers installed? Also make sure to use the USB slots in the back, not the front

Are u stock or on a rom
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm on a custom rom, the drivers are installed, I have 3 different cables (3 different brands as well) I used the back ports, every computer in my house.. I highly suspect it is windows xp that is the problem because it works flawlessly on my girlfriend's laptop

Mine would not connect to the PC's at work until I unchecked the unknown sources unders settings/applications. Haven't had a problem since.
.... where you're doing anything with your phone while it's plugged into the Computer via USB cable, and the connect screen constantly pops up.
It does it on ALL of them, too. Even the Stock ROM, while I was on it a few minutes ago......
Friggin' aggravating!
Could be a driver issue, though I wouldn't know, as I don't run sense. Personally...not that I can't stand it, just lacks the performance of aosp.
Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going back to AOSP, too.
Wonder if VaelPak is still doing AOSP Roms
Hmm I wouldn't know. Not that I have seen as of late.
I have gone back and forth with Sense ROMs, but I have finally found my daily driver. Prime XL 3D is by far the most Snappy Sense ROM that i have ever flashed and it is still only just out of the Beta stages. Currently on RC3. This Sense 3.5 ROM is sick!

Yeah, that looks like a good one to try out, too.
I heard Tommytomatoes classic sense is stable as all hell and has some decent battery. Might want to look into that.

Thanks, but I'm addicted to 3.5 now lol
Anyhow, like I said, it even did it when my phone was stock
I notice that most of the time it happens when I'm using Titanium Backup, My Backup Pro or while trying to sync to my computer, although it does pop up at other times, too.
Might be that the charging/data port on your phone is a little loose. Does it charge fine? If your under warranty try to get a replacement or just open it up your self and see if it is loose.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Nah, it charges fine. And it only does it on Sense ROMS
Its not the rom its the chord.
Why blame it on sense? Your usb plug on computer is probably a little loose.
Wtf guys? Why do people blaming everything on sense?

Umm, because, like I said over and over, it only happens when I run Sense ROMS. I ran MIUI for the last 5 months til Thursday and it never happened one time, except when I'd flash back to my stock/rooted ROM to update Profile, etc....

It's still possible it's your cable. CM7 just doesn't have that popup, and MIUI may not either. The connection still might be getting broken, it's just not as intrusive as the popup window you have on Sense.

Exactly, wtf? Use a different chord AND/OR USB slot on ur puter, if it still does it, blame sense!
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
OMG, I've already done all that. It's not the chord or the USB Connection, ffs.
Just had a brainstorm. You prolly tried this already but ill say it anyway. is it perhaps that your computer is putting the usb port (on comp) to sleep due to inactivity? I know my laptop used to do that as a battery saving measure until I disabled it. I'm determined to figure this out haha

Not bad idea, but noting on my computer is set to sleep at any time, and it happens almost as soon as I plug it in.

sorry to be more. clear first update the pc's usb driver then depending on if you're running a newer sense or older sense upgrade or downgrade the HTC drivers accordingly update for newer sense downgrade for older sense I had a similar issue and it was my driver wasn't properly reading my phone cuz I was on original driver but a newer rom
I just reformatted 2 weeks ago.
Look, if it was the chord or connection, it would have happened when I ran AOSP Roms, but it didn't, including large file transfers, like when I'd reformat my card and move everything back again.
With Sense, the connection drops just moving a ROM to the SD Card
I've only run Sense ROMs on my Evo (had too many problems with basic things not working on AOSP) , and I've never...ever...had this problem. Never seen the problem reported before in any Sense ROM thread, especially not reports of this occuring on a stock Evo. Pretty sure you're problem is your hardware or configuration -- probably on your computer. The reason why it occurs for you only in Sense ROMs is probably because you have HTC Sync running.
I have tried all options, to get my files to transfer using my usb cable, to my computer. I can't download a file to the device, nor can I copy/paste files to and from it, either. I have tried multiple cables, and even when it shows the phone is connected, I still cannot do a thing other than copy small files to it. This is a MAJOR problem, as I do not want to use AirDroid...it doesn't see every file I want to transfer...and something so simple as ancient usb file transfers are not working with this phone. My SGS2 worked just fine...but any help that you can give me would be appreciated. And yes, I have googled the hell out of the inquiry...just none that seem to fix my issues. :good:

Windows 7 64-bit...It DOES show in MY COMPUTER...yes, I CAN browse the files, yet I cannot move them, nor can I download or copy to the folders. There are also times where I get the Hardware Id Missing error, even after installing Kies or uninstalling it. Sometimes it shows up as USB Mass Storage Device in device manager, other times it shows up as Samsung I-747.
Out of curiosity, have you tried a different cable? I had a similar problem on my phone. I'd try to upload a file to the phone, even a small one, and it would go very slowly and eventually time out. I tried another usb cable and it worked fine.

Hey there...
So, I just got a Galaxy S3 i747, but I'm using it in Costa Rica (it's already unlocked). I connected to the computer and it's not recognized. I have installed twice Samsung Drivers, but nothing. It's not recognized by the computer and neither by Kies. I've tried 2 different USB cables (I don't have more) and 3 computers, and nothing. I Reset Data from cell, but didn't help. I don't have a external SD installed. I even turn the phone off, took out the battery about 60 seconds, but that didn't make it work. I also tried USB ports from the back, but no luck.
If I tried this 2 USB cables and the 3 computers using a Galaxy S2, it's recognized every time, so it's something about this phone. What else can I do? I'll appreciate any help or tip.
Thanks.

I reported a similar problem with my phone here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36602425&postcount=1681
If your phone is messed up like my old one was to the point where it shows up as "Device Not Recognized", your only course of action is to warranty the phone because recovery through Kies Air is not possible and at this point you cannot connect to any computer to fix the problem. I believe it to be a non-repairable software issue.

It's fussy, that's for sure. The particular driver you are using could make a difference. I don't use MTP much because it's more trouble than it's worth, but the drivers in my signature were working alright, the first link.
I just use FTP now (FTPDroidPro+FileZilla). Never any problems. The only time I would want MTP is for copying several GB of data. But since I back up often (and upload pictures to Dropbox), this situation rarely happens.

FTPDroidPro is the FTP server that sits on the phone. Do not remember if there is a free version, but probably, since, well.... Pro. FileZilla is the client and I think it's open source. Either way, it's free.
My router is terrible, and I can still transfer 4MB/s. With a nice router, I'm sure it's faster than USB 2.0. FTPDroidPro also has support for root access. That is incredibly useful.

The only thing I can think of is that this is either a 4.2.2 issue or related to Vanilla Rootbox exclusively. Just tried your driver and still the same issue. Guess I have no other choice is to try your app combo and see what happens. This is most frustrating, as my music and pictures are stuck on my old sgs3 and would rather not live without them
In case there isn't a free version of Aerowinders, this is what I use, and it does have a free counterpart if you just want to try it our way.

If you need any help setting up, let me know.
There's probably nothing wrong with your phone or the computer. I've had tons of issues, too. One more thing you could try would be to make sure those drivers are fully uninstalled (through device manager also), and install the old 1.4.6.0 ones. These old ones probably won't work with your LTE version, though. Just another thought. I personally think FTPing is the better solution. It's faster than digging out the cable, for me.

Never had an issue with MTP until today. Honestly I kinda grew to like it more than the old UMS method, as the phone was still usable. Just installed ftpdroid and filezilla now, trying to see if I can get this working, let alone access the internal storage.
Alright, so far, I will give this a 4 out of 5 stars. only 4 because I'm not quite familliar with the interface and it is pretty intimidating. I do however LOVE that I can simply resume the transfer process should my phone reboots, which it did, so I don't have to start all over. Pretty sexy.
If you have some kind of guide or easy way of explaining this, I'd love to see/hear it. appears it's about 2.5mb/s, which is the average speed of my data plan for my ISP, so Idk if it goes off the router or my upload/download speed limit.
@DocHoliday77, I will look into your method, but if you could explain it a bit to me that would be great. I know little to nothing about FTP.
Super simple. Make sure you're on wifi.
Open the app and start the server.
Open Explorer on your computer and in the address/path bar enter exactly what it says in the app.
Ftp://192.168.x.x:2121
Enter pw.
That's it.

OTG is USB On-The-Go, aka USB Host mode. You can plug in USB devices into your phone and use them directly. I was suggesting to plug a a thumbdrive into your OTG cable into your phone and copy the files to it using ES File Explorer or similar.
Ah ok I think I understand. Well I tried the ftp method yesterday and pretty sure I pulled everything I needed off of it. Slowly migrating to the new device. Don't need orphan data and such.
Using mtp on the new device seems to work well, though haven't tried to pull anything off it, just push. Will test later tonight. Perhaps getting this refurb'd device was smart in the long run besides just LTE? Funny how things work...
