I recently got the official OTA to 7.1.1 update. My LTE(4G) used to work flawlessly before that but now I only get an H(3G) at max and the data speeds are very slow because of this.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? How can I fix this?

Hi,
Got the same problem with Free Mobile (French ISP), temp fix:
On nova launcher long press-> widget ->activities->Settings->Test menu
or in dialer : *#*#4636#*#* .
Then on prefered network: Select LTE, wait the phone connects to LTE network and put back to LTE/CDMA/UMTS

Hi guys,
sorry if it's a noobish question or has been asked before.
I have a LG E988 and updated my stock LG firmware to Cyanogenmod 11 M6 snapshot version for E980. It works in every aspects, except of 3G. However I try to assign my 'Preferred network type' to '3G', it only works on LTE network.
It seems like it's missing the 'driver' or firmware for 3G modem. Is it possible?
Thanks for help.

I am running m6 and selecting the 3g network works fine. I think LTE can also be toggled in the quick settings panel, perhaps you could try and turn it off from there.

I tried that (I am aware that there is a 'mobile network' on off switch AND there is the 'LTE' on off switch), not working. I even tried the "*" *4636*"*"* method of preferred network, no luck.
Could it be because this edition is aimed at LTE or this is ridiculous? Or is it a possibility that my model is E988 not the 980?
SOLVED
Thanks guys, it is solved now.
My dearest Service Provider, Telenor Hungary has a dual APN settings: 'hypernet', which apparently provides LTE only, and normal 'net', which is a 2G-3G-LTE solution.
Strange.
Thx for the help, though.
Hi,
I am having an Indian LG E988 so, as per LG it does not support 4G. But here is my dilemma:
1. I am using a 4G SIM on my phone and till say a month back CM 12.1 nighly were working normally. But after downloading the nighly around a week earlier - I found that the phone no longer connects to any network - be it 3G/2G or 4G.
2. Then I switched to Slimrom. Now it shows the 4G Network as well as connects to the 4G Network (it shows LTE in status bar, so assuming it is actually connects to 4G, plus during the manual search of networks it shows 3 Networks - assuming one is for 2G, one for 3G and one for 4G).
But there is a catch - every time I restart the phone - I need to manually select the etwork - does any one know any workaround to avoid this?
Also, at the same time it is really strange why the hell LG disabled LG in the Inian moel when hardware is already there!!!

Pl check i think e988 works only on 1800 band for lte/4g... Check on what band your operator 4g is working...

But how can it detect another network? Apart from 2G and 3G?
my g4 can't seem to achieve H+ connection even if it is available in my area.
my phone could only connect with H.
is this normal or is there something wrong with my phone or its settings?
Do you live in Philippines? I am having the same issue, not most of the time. There was some circumstances that my mobile data is not working even when subscribed to a data promos.
yes, i'm from the philippines
Hey, how was your phone now? Are you on marshmallow?

how did you guys fix this problem where did you buy your phones?
This is annoying me more than causing any real issues. UK user here on stock 6.0.1.
On my new 5X, I had an EE sim for a few days, shows EE as carrier name for Network Operator and SIM Operator...I use Network Signal Info Pro to show me that info.
It showed as EE in the drawer under the mobile network and on lock screen too...all good.
Just switched to Virgin SIM, and whilst the Network Operator is now Virgin, the SIM Operator is still EE. It shows as EE still in the drawer and lock screen.
Mobile data still works, it is clearly connected properly to Virgin in APN and I received the settings when first put in the Virgin SIM. There is nothing EE related in APN.
How can I fix this? It should say Virgin in the drawer, but it persistently says EE. Toggling aero mode doesn't fix. Neither does refreshing / cycling radio in LTE Discovery app. Restart doesn't fix.
Any ideas? I'm not rooted, FYI (and I don't wish to be rooted as it breaks my online banking apps, which are vital for daily living). So Change Carrier app is not an option for me.
Thanks.

I would try Settings -> Backup & reset -> Reset Network Settings, and see what happens after a reboot.
Just FYI that all your stored Wi-Fi will also be deleted and you'd have to add them again.
But for me this has solved some issues.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work. Worth a shot I guess.
...and as an extra annoyance it wiped all my Bluetooth devices, which included the pairing with my Android Wear watch, so that needs factory resetting now too and re-pairing.
Hello,
My 5x is also suffering from the same issue. I too am from the UK and have been with Virgin Mobile for years.
The problem started as soon as the MCH19J update arrived. Because my phone was rooted at the time I thought it might have been something I had caused when I flashed the update. I intended to return to fully stock anyway so I decided to flash the MMB29P image as a starting point because I knew for sure that the carrier logo was correct in that version.
With the phone now completely stock and bootloader relocked I installed each OTA update as they arrived and all was fine with the logo until MCH19J when it changed to EE. The April OTA update has now been installed and the logo is still EE.
So it would seem that the issue is not root or a bad flash or the need for a factory reset but an issue within the Android OS itself.

Just out of curiosity are you sure it isnt correct? To my knowledge (not checked recently) Virgin is an MVNO that ran of T-mobile (aka EE's) network.

Yes you are correct, Virgin Mobile UK is an MVNO using EE's network. EE is now owned by BT but that is all behind the scenes and I have not received any notification of changes to do with that.
My wife has a stock unrooted Nexus 5 on the latest (MOB30D) update and that shows Virgin as the carrier in all areas of the phone so I still believe this is an OS issue

I second that...if I put the SIM in an N5 it shows Virgin everywhere, but if I put the same SIM in my N5X it shows EE everywhere (excuse the accidental pun there!) [emoji2]

It's got to be an OS issue, even though I recognise that Virgin does use EE's network.

Since my last post I have sent feedback to Google regarding this via the "Send feedback about this phone" option in Settings/About Phone.
Fingers crossed that the May update due in a day or so will will have a fix for this

PlayStore doesn't download anything while roaming on mobile data since the Nougat update. It is a known issue but I would like to know if there is any tweaks or custom ROMs available for Nexus 5x to fix this issue.
Edit : It is fixed now. Update playstore to the version 7.6.08.N-all or newer. Confirmed in Nougat 7.0 (Nexus 5x) and Nougat 7.1.1(OnePlus 3). Finally a sigh of relief.
Solution!!!
My issue resolved by forcing the network to H+ (3G) from LTE (4G) and switching off roaming data OFF and then back to ON until I got H+ on the statusbar instead of an R
Handset: Nexus 6P
Android: Nougat
Network: Airtel India

Yes....my device is still on Roaming and not showing R just H+.,.although after a reboot it switches back to R but the manual network selection and Data ONOFF helps and is a good workaround

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Google doesn't care for this bug anymore. I'm considering going back to Marshmallow. Nougat has been a pain in a** ever since I upgraded.
It is fixed now!!!
Looks like Google silently fixed the bug. Update playstore to the version 7.6.08.N-all or newer. Confirmed in Nougat 7.0 (Nexus 5x) and Nougat 7.1.1(OnePlus 3).
Use TOR (Orbot) in Apps VPN mode.... works, YW.
Though security might be an issue...

edit: What y'all talking about...
Not fixed at all: Version 7.6.08.N-All [0] [PR], 149245622
can only use WIFI or TOR...
How do I get a NEWER version...??..

Earlier it didn't work for me even after using VPN, TOR and so on. Now it is working for both of my Nougat updated phones. I'm on the same version as yours. I don't know how or why it happened but it works now.
