Hello all, I am trying to sell a xperia play with a failed flex cable (I believe) which I can't get a picture out of. Is there a way to factory reset the phone to get all my texts/numbers/etc. off the phone, using my computer and not the phone itself, given that I can't navigate the phone's menu? The phone is not password locked.
Thank you!
respectful bump, would appreciate any help!

You could try with Sony PC companion and see will it access phone's contacts.
Sadly using the Xperia Companion app did not do the trick. Does anyone else have any ideas?

either unlock your bootloader then use flashtool to flash it back or install PC Companion and try it again. When using the PC companion go to support zone then click update phone then chose the highlighted(blue) word "repair" then just follow the prompt

for repairing the arc, it must be turned off, just open up pc companion, then it will instruct you how to connect your arc without turning it on(usually you hold down the back button while plugging it into the usb). Make sure to select the correct phone type when prompted(chose xperia arc). also make sure that your phone is atleast 50% above battery.
Follow the prompt, you cant go wrong.
try it now.

just helping out a fellow new arc users. we all have been there, i can understand the panic and frustration(also felt that way when my arc bootloop on me lol).
Hi - Forgive me if I'm saying stuff that you already know...
-Switch your phone OFF. Leave it for 30 seconds or so..
-fire up SEUS.
-Select Arc (LT15 or SO1C depending on which you have..)
-HOLD THE "BACK" KEY down on your phone WHILE you plug the USB cable in.. Keep it pressed until SEUS tells you to release it.
SEUS will then either update your phone, or say that you have the latest software.
If it says that you have the latest software then you will get an option to repair your phone..
Use it!
If SEUS doesn't work do the same with Flashtool... it's like SEUS but not made by SE!

What were you doing to it previously? Can't you get warranty service? If you unlocked the bootloader or did anything funny/weird/technical, you should say so so that we can know enough to help (not me personally because I'm still learning!).
my english is not good i'm sorry for bad english.
when i dragging phone screen lock, phone is switch off suddenly. and the phone does not open. when i plug charger no any led notification and any response. when i connect phone to pc driver seems "qhsusb_dload"
i don't setup any rom,
i don't any unlocking
i don't any other
i only setup game and play game, and watch film.
i'm too sad and afraid now please help me anyone... thanks and regards
Already tried to remove the battery for a minute, then put it back?
yes, i tried this many times..
I know what qhsusb_dload is. It was shown to me when I was unlocking my bootloader whit the testpoint method. But I don't know how it can be shown suddenly, and you didn't nothing. Maybe a hardware failure, when it is happen suddenly.
I hope solving my problem and i hope not hardware failure. too thanks and regard for replies

If I remember it well, what I read, then its mostly a hardware failure or a software failure, what happens whit a bad rom. You didn't do a update? A official from Sony Ericsson? Try to recover your phone whit the Sony Ericsson tool (Sony Ericsson PC Companion) then the tab Support Zone
When phone recovery from Sony Ericsson work, you will lose all your data on the phone, but the data on your sd card will maintain.
Thanks but sony companion recovery is not see my phone, when hold back and plug cable

Then I'm afraid that I can't help you. But if it's a software failure, it can be repaired whit SeTool, but it cost money. Search in the Arc forum, and you will find something about SeTool and how to repair, but it's not free.
But if you still have warranty on your phone, then send up your phone.
You can try the testpoint method to unlock youre bootloader, because whit the testpoint method your computer ask for a driver for qhsusb_dload, maybe it's work for your phone, but I can't guarantee it. But you must have a generic branded phone.

Hi folks,
I've been trying to get my Acro S backed up using Sony PC Companion prior to rooting the phone.
I've got the software to connect to the phone, she have been able to explore the phone using the file manager no problem. However, if I try to get it to backup it just appears to try to connect for ages with no apparent progress
Any suggestions from the founts of knowledge here welcome.
In preparation for rooting I have Flashtool downloaded, the adb drivers installed along with the God Doomlords easy rooting toolkit. Reading through Flashtool it looks like I have to disconnect the usb cable, power down the phone, then press the back button, while reconnecting the cable, then power back up?
Getting impatient for the back up - I have tried this, but it doesn't appear to have done anything. Can anybody please point me in the right direction?
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Use the backup and restore app from the phone, choose external card to where to save it and remove ext.card when using flashtool to ensure it doesn't wipe it.
Also try using the root tool in the development section, vroot I think. I personnally tried it with my friend's acro s and it worked.
