Unlocked AT&T Note 5 update outside of US - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hello;
I have an AT&T branded Note 5 which is unlocked; I am currently using it in Telcel Mexico. I still live in the ol' Android 5.1.1 - the Build Number is N920AUCU1AOGG. I've dug around a little bit and found some posts here which mention that you need to have an AT&T sim - which I obviously do not.
Other posts just say you can flash it using Kies 3... but as of right now when I run Kies 3 it tries to connect to the device then I get a message that now I can use Smart Switch. But that doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for.
Is there another way to push one of the newer, updated firmware into my device? To be honest, I have not played a lot with Android. I don't know much about all the fancy flashing and the rooting and all that.
Thanks for any advice and guidance. It is truly appreciated.

I think part of what OP is saying is that it doesn't feel like there's a definitive answer. Lots of threads and comments - yes, but they vary in freshness and often conflict with each other

Odin flash didn't work out for you?

I regret to tell you that I have tried every mothod (including the using USA VPN,using ATT SIM card),and finally failed. Unfortunately, it seems that flashing the full package is the only way to upgrade the system. For you, you can flash this package that I have upload before to update you phone to MM(N920AUCS3BPH4). Here's a link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att.../n920a-mm-odin-package-n920aucs3bph4-t3477000
If you can wait, I will upload the latest package PK1 to this post.

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. I did search in this forum, but did not find a straightforward way to do it - like a sticky, maybe? Just different posts with different methods, some using just incremental updates and different ways to push them into the device. My got told me I needed to find the full stock firmware to push it to the device.
Fortunately, after Googling for about an hour or two I found this:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-note-5-stock-firmware/
http://www.galaxynote5update.com/galaxy-note5-stock-firmware/
In The Android Sould I found the stock images and Odin, with which I was able to update to N920AUCS4CPK1, which I believe is the latest update at the moment. So... yeah, I hope this two links help people out.
Thanks.

[Q] Latest Incremental Update LI3

Rooted, Stock, LG8
Started getting OTA notifications this morning. Rebooted into recovery and the notifications went away. Still on LG8. Am I missing anything substantial on LI3? Should I just wait for the official JB update? Thanks in advance.
Official JB release has yet to be officially announced with a date. So, I suggest you go ahead and update. At least you'll stop getting the notifications if you do.

Thanks for the reply, Naddict. Couple of questions:
-In order to update to LI3, is it as simple as going through the "System Update" utility in the settings?
-Is it safe to assume that once I update to LI3, I'll lose root?
-If so, how do I go about gaining root again? (It's been a while since I first rooted, so I'm unsure of the methods.)

Your thread is relevant to my question, so I'm hoping someone can help me, as well.
I'm new to android, and I've found that every time there is an OTA update, I cannot find ANY information on it. I received a notification to update today, as well, yet it doesn't tell me what changes will be made or what is being updated. Is this normal for android? I'm not exactly sure where to look for this information, since hitting "more info" tells me nothing.
Not trying to invade on your post, but I'm thinking you might know the answer to this.
Thanks!

OTA's are manufacturer specific. Sprint does provide information as to what the updates do for you. Just use the Internet machine and go to Sprint's website...

Hi Naddict. Thanks for humoring my "Hi. I'm super new and have stupid questions" status.
My "internet machine" (awesome) must be limited to banning all updated information. On the sprint blog for S3 updates the latest one is from 9/19 and I don't see any relevant information regarding an update from today. That's where my confusion lies.
My main issue is that I don't even know what to search for, as I don't receive any information regarding the update number/title/etc.
A popup just asking me to install a "system update" doesn't really do much for me. I'll keep looking. :good:
Take care,
Mike

Thank you very much. I saw the Samsung Galaxy SIII Software Updates post on the Sprint website but it shows a release date of 9/19, which was causing my confusion. I was looking for something from today specifically since this is the first time I had an update popup.

Well now I'm just lost.
I used Mobile ODIN to flash a stock recovery, then I tried to flash an LG8-L13 .zip I found on another forum. I got an installation error. I went back to CWM and tried the flash the update, same error. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there a file, or at least a link to an update .zip that works in CWM?
Edit: Just found and flashed two files through CWM. So far so good.
Here's the Link for the update:

Here's the Link for the modem:

[Q] Why won't i9505G TAR work, and where do I post a bounty?

So I noticed, in the i9505G Android development forum, that there are flashable Odin TARs for 4.2.2, and 4.3. I was really hoping there'd be a a TAR for the M919 that makes it indistinguishable from the i9505G. I'm currently running a 4.3 ROM, but it's not quite the same.
In all of the i9505G Odin threads, it says it won't work on an M919, but it doesn't say why. What exactly are we waiting for?
If I were to start a bounty, would it be worth my time, would other people contribute, and where would I do it?
Believe the partitions are different and a bootloader.

Same exact question being asked, one link has the reason as to WHY this wouldn't work. Yours is unique in the sense that you want to start a bounty, but other than that, all I did was look at page 1 and copy the threads, and then I typed "i9505g" into the magical search bar... There are more that can be found with a little bit more intensive searching, but you get the point.

I've already looked at all of those posts. All they say is you can't repartition. I did some more searching last night, and found that you can't because you need files signed by Samsung, and that program doesn't exist yet?
Still wondering where the best place to post a bounty would be. Couldn't find one of those.

You will need 3 things. It's a bit late and I'm sorry but I'm too tired to actually link them. They should be easy to find Google you can also find links on this forum. You can also watch a video on how to administer them on YouTube.
You will need to download one application and 2 files.
First you'll need an application called Odin 3.8. I believe that's the latest one.
You will need two files: 1. Philztouch recovery in an md5 file. It is no longer being updated finding it may require a little work. I personally I like it but others prefer the alternative called TWRP, also in md5 file. You will use Odin to flash one of these two files. You only need one.
Next you will need an md5 file from Chainfire. This file will unlock the device. Once it is completely rooted you will be free to load on Android 5.1. 1 and a copy of gapps.
Here is the link to Android 5.1.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../sm-t31x-cyanogenmod-12-1-unofficial-t3094681
Good luck. - PC
PS I'm assuming this is your first modding a Samsung device. far as I know Odin is only used for Samsung devices. YouTube has plenty of videos on how to use it. Once you get the hang of it you can mod multiple Samsung devices with it.

Extreme Syndicate ROM Discussion Thread

Hey Everyone!
I am at it again! I have made leaps today with my custom ROM.
It is not ready for release just yet but wanted to get a thread started for when it is ready, to get some opinions and further clarification.
Required:
1) Any G930 US Variant
2) Must be on the G930U PEH firmware prior to my ROM
3) Rooted with Flashfire
4) I highly recommend you know how to push apks. It will start out lightly debloated but will be extremely debloated by the time I finish!
What will it contain in v1?
1) Pre rooted
2) Debloated
3) Xposed
4) V4A
5) Might be missing stuff for v1, wait and see!
Suggestions?
Please post early suggestions below. They might not be considered for build 1 but will all beconsidered as we go.
Questions?
1) Maybe someone can chime in but to my knowledge the U firmware will work on any US variant S7? I am asking for clarification since my reasoning of using the U firmware is for it to be useable on all US variants to avoid having to develop for every variant separately (I dont have time for this.)

1. Will you provide links to or host a copy of the G930U PEH firmware?
2. I suppose that since this is the universal firmware, Verizon's Mobile Hotspot provisioning will not prevent us from using Native Mobile Hotspotting....can you confirm...and if not, can you apply a a modded version of the Mobile Hotspot software that bypasses the provisioning (similar to what psouza has done with his VZW debloat script for PE1)

Is the goal here to remedy the battery life issues and CPU hangs that the eng boot/root process created? I'm excited!

The zips provided by psouza are for the PE1 build only. He mentioned somewhere in his thread that it has to be compiled for each build.

essentially I shoot for an extremely debloated rom which typically does include better speed and battery life but that is more of a side effect imo

Not necessarily. some of it does work.. ideally however i like to bake things in.. the less zips to flash the better.. i wont worry too much as i dont release roms that dont work well to begin with

The fix/fix+debloat zip that disable Verizon's Wi-Fi hotspot tethering provisioning does so by writing a modified framework-res.apk to the device, therefor it needs to match the firmware version. The patch is not complicated though (it's literally just changing/clearing two XML values), so anyone could decompile a different version, patch the xml, recompile, re-sign, and bundle that for any Verizon firmware version.

@elliwigy, I have used your ROMs in the past. Needless to say, I'm excited to see you are making one for the Verizon S7!

When does the FC happen exactly? I've had this issue when modifying ROMs, so I might be able to help.

New N910P Owner here... Latest Bootloader & Modem for this device?

Can anyone point me to a trustworthy source for the latest BL and CP downloads for the N910P? All Google searches have shown me are sketchy sites and old threads from 1-2 years ago. Thanks!

Latest bl is qi5 but I don't recommend it as it is fused and can cause problems going backwards.

3 newb questions, bear with me:
Is the newest modem included in Qi5?
What does "fused" mean?
Why would I want to go backwards?

Many of the custom roms were built for prior bootloaders and some have issues or may not be supported on the latest qi5 bootloader. Fused means that once you flash it you can no longer flash an earlier one. Once you do it prior versions will fail to flash in Odin.
