Storage saving issue - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Is it normal that always when I restart my phone, camera storage gets back to internal saving, and I put removable before restart.

You're not alone, my SD is screwed, wife bought one day same day, crappy name, no problems, mine, 128 Sandisk, highly rated, been crap since buying it, horrible. Find in other devices.
I've tried everything.

Try the card in another device, test in the same way.
Test another card in your HTC 10, test in the same way.. Has the app which you're using to save docs!/ files been granted permission? Check within apps / (application in question / permissions.

Try this walk through, looks like it may be along the same lines http://www.knowreviewtip.com/fix-er...sion-for-all-apps-in-android-lollipop-kitkat/

Mine works fine; however, I remember some kludgy permissions issue with external storage with any app, not just the camera. I had to grant it through a file explorer app or something; I don't remember exactly. Android seems to be sacrificing usability for security more and more.
IIRC, the htc 10 is UHS-I, not III. (should work but if you paid more for the III...)

Not docs. I said that camera app is switching sometimes I noticed now not always like I said before, because I restart phone few times and it was on removable, but sometimes it switch for no reason after restart to internal.
Maybe it's like dude up said that android seems to be sacrificing usability for security more and more.

Not sure fella, but I've seen the saving to certain locations on external memories problem pop up a few times, it's ok once granted access. I'll reboot my phone now. See if it alters back to internal, silly thing to happen to be honest.. Why would anyone want internal? Card slot available, most people would want to use it, unless there was a problem writing large files or high res content. Ie 4k, but I've not had an issue.

Yea mine doesn't have this issue, weird.

Just got a 16gb Class 10 SD card

I just received my 16gb class 10 microSD today. I got it from Buy.com
http://www.buy.com/prod/oem-16gb-16...class-10-card-reader/q/loc/101/220244316.html
It was $32 after tax.
It comes with an adapter and a reader, which basically looks like a little usb flash drive that you put your memory card into and then plug into the usb port.
So far, no problems with it. It is actually like 14.9gb, but I guess thats just how it goes. It's been holding and managing files well, but I don't really know how to accurately test it. I've been downloading a lot of songs and pictures, taking pictures and video, moving files around, deleting things, and its handling everything, no errors.
Just one more update...
The card is still working well. No problems what-so-ever. If you're looking for a good LEGIT 16gb card, this one is a good deal.
I've just noticed that nobody really follows up on a review for batteries or sdcards, they only talk a lot.

Most people are looking for speed tests to validate a card being the class that it claims. Since there are so many ones that tend to exaggerate their speeds.
Perhaps run a speed test on the card and post the results. You can find some freeware ones doing a Google search. I personally have used Crystal Disk Mark and it worked fine.
http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskMark/index-e.html
You could try SD tools app. I bought a class 4 16g sandisk.
I modified the read ahead to 2048 but didn't do a test before dunno if it helped

Looks nice...I might have to buy one because I think my POS Wintech 16gb cl10 card is starting to fail on me.
My 8 gig class two that I've had through two completely different phones and countless downloads and erasing files as well as a few reformats has similar speeds after using SD speed boost...I've hit higher but scaled it back as I was afraid of hurting it.
Post a pic, lets see what urs comes in at.

Awesome. I tested my slow 8GB card and it doesn't even come close to that. Just bought one of these. Thanks for the speed test. Hopefully mine is as fast.
I just bought this today and hopefully it will be here by the end of the week. I will post some screenies of my speed test when it comes in as well. If mine has this same speed this is a great deal for anyone looking for a 16gb card. Anyone else who bought this should post some screenshots of their speedtest results on this card. The more we have verify the speeds the more likely we will know whether this is good or just a gimmick or just luck of the draw on speed.
Bought one of these for my 2nd EVO today. Will post speeds when SD card received and tested. I have a 32GB Class 10 in my 1st EVO and it screams but don't need quite that much storage capacity in 2nd EVO. Hope it turns out to be a good buy with great speed.
so i just did a test on my class 2 card i bought from frys, i get a 10 mb/s write but only a 5 mb/s read. this probably explains all the time i have to wait for my pictures to load in my gallery.

[REVIEW & VIDEO] 64GB micro SDXC cards - working in SGSII, HTC Sensation, SGSI

Although this was already confirmed by 3waygeek and Ghost77 (thanks for trailblazing this one for us guys!) prior to my replicating their results, I thought I would start a separate thread for this news, since you have to wade through pages of speculation in the existing thread before getting to the information you need.
I've already nearly filled the card, oh well... look forward to 128GB cards next year? Better start saving now...
There is lots more detail with benchmarks and so forth at AndroidNZ: Sandisk 64GB Micro SDXC cards confirmed WORKING in Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation, Galaxy S, and of course the original thread here.
once again, great video! You represent all that is good about Android Development in Australasia.
Nice video , here is beauty to compliment video.

Yep, works in my Transformer too. I gave up on my Android tablet being more powerful than my phone a while ago - won't happen while the tablets are running on Tegra 2 SoC's. Bring on the Kal-el though and we'll see!

Only place is Sandisk US online store as far as I'm aware. If you're outside the US you'll need to use a mail forwarding company to get it to you - I used Shipito and they've been fantastic on each of the occasions I've used them.
I bought mine from JMS.. Its a small electronic goods store in the UK. They sell alot of imported stuff. They have a few ps vita's that just came in. They don't release here till November.

Buying anywhere outside of Sandisk right now runs a very high risk of receiving a fake.
This is very good to know esepcially for the earlier models but seriously, I have no need for so much storage on a mobile device.
Maybe you don't, lots do. I could use much more to be perfectly honest.

As for uptime, maybe it only resets when you completely shut down? Don't know for sure because I have not tested this theory yet.

Best MicroSd Card? Samsung Pro vs Sandisk Ultra.

It's time to ditch my Sandisk at 48mb/s and upgrade. So...I'm wondering what is the best micro sd card I could get for this device? Two options I'm looking at are the Samsung Pro series with 90mb/s and the SanDisk Xtreme at 92mb/s. Is there anything better? Please share your experiences and thoughts.
Also does read/write speed affect how fast a photo is processed and video quality?
First.
Found a Samsung Pro 64gb 90mb/s on ebay for $15 bucks. Not bad when they usually sell between $60-$80 bucks. Hopefully I didn't get screwed. The seller did have a good reputation. I was going to share the link but it seems I've bought the last one.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. The issue is: you take photos and save to the sd card. Upon reviewing the photos you would notice they are corrupt (the grey picture of a mountain icon). They will also not work in a computer after this. The problem had been mentioned on these note forums and the note 3 guess?

I wasn't claiming a certain sd card brand name was corrupting photos, rather that the Note series appears to have an issue where any sd card runs the risk of failing.

I've had the Note 2, 3 & now the Note 4. None of them corrupted my sd cards. The only Galaxy series phone that did corrupt my sd card was the S4. It corrupted 2 of my sd cards. I think I just got lucky with the Galaxy Notes I've had.
Got my new Samsung Pro 64gb card. And I love it! No issues with pictures. Hdr photos used to take a few seconds to process. With new card it's instant. I've done a benchmark. It doesn't seem the Note 4 uses the full capabilities of the sd card speed. But it was a lot better than my Sandisk I've had for years and I found that is a class 1. Anyways its the best $15 bucks I've ever spent.
Samsung Pro 64gb class 10 (90mb/s)
My results for benchmark testing.
Note 4 Write speed ~50mb Read ~30mb
The card maybe a little overkill but at least it's future proof for devices that will take advantage of it. I've notice improved performance with camera and games that store data on the external sd card. The Note 4 internal sd is much faster. 160mb write, 90mb read. I've used A1 benchmark when testing.

Move apps to SD card? Adoptable?

Hi All,
I'm thinking of getting this phone, but I have a question or two.
I saw in a thread here that there may be issues moving apps to the SD Card. adoptable storage was suggested as the solution.
I was under the impression that HTC had disabled adoptable storage...is that not the case?
Also, when I tried it on my Sony device, some apps (GTA, iirc) complained that they needed an SD card to function. Is there a known workaround for this?
Essentially, I am concerned about storage in general. My current phone is rooted so it's not an issue for me right now, but I would not be rooting the HTC if I get one.
Any help / suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
DF

P.S. Moving apps to ext sd card is rather stone age - when hTc 10 is the best device your money can buy..
Sent from quite brutal hTc 10 ..
Lol, I don't remember where I read it. I know originally the reviews said that HTC were one of the few who didn't disable it. Then shortly after someone said that they had gone back on it. Obviously incorrect!
Do you use it? Have you come across any issues / incompatibilities?

Sorry - I meant Adoptable. I assume you're not telling me I shouldn't use that.

Oh. You're saying don't put apps on SD at all and just rely on internal?

23 GB of available internal storage must serve your apps...
SD card is anyhow much more vulnerable and intended for storing your DATA..
You might one day need to pull your sd card out..

Got it. Yeah, I guess I'm just a bit disorganised! I always like to have as much room spare as I can.

After formatting your sd card as a part of internal memory - it physically remains ext sd card.. (or you believe in miracles?)
Writing speed into the internal storage is about 160 MB/s when writing speed to your sd card is more likely around 30-40 MB/s...

converting an external sd card to adoptable memory isn't advisable due to many reasons but still kept for users who has pushed their internal memory cap....
1) more chances of your data getting lost
2) you cannot read your card as a standalone sd card once its adoptable storage unless you format it back to external memory
3) speeds would vary still when apps are loaded from an adoptable memory
4) can't switch between phones the sd card unless you format it back to external memory again (this i doubt still)
theres a xposed module I believe that will allow apps to sd support.
my phone gets too hot using adopted storage with my 200gb Samsung pro+ and performance suffered so I quit using it
on a newer cheap phone with only 8gb storage I'm using the adopted and that don't seems to have the issues like the htc 10 of heat/ performance loss
