Front or back camera is not working with Google Hangout - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

When I use Google Hangout, I can see my video on my screen but people on other side, they don't able to see my video. I tried both front and back camera and faced same issue. I tried factory reset but not helped. Things work properly with other video calling apps.
Any help on this much appreciated?

I am also having same issue. Video doesn't work while using hangouts. I can see the video form other end and they can't see my video. Did you find any solution?

Video also doesn't work with Google Camera.

Just received a hangouts video call from my girlfriend yesterday. No issues whatsoever.

Also video does work with Google camera.. As does photospheres, very well I might add.

I googled and from few of the forums like us, I found one solution which worked for me also. I am sharing the details:
I'd recommend trying the steps below in a sequence to check if that helps:
1. Logout of Hangouts on mobile device.
2. Clear app data / cache for Hangouts application.
3. Go to Settings > Accounts and log out / remove your Google account.
4. Restart phone.
5. Go to Settings > Accounts and log back into your Google account.
6. Open Hangouts.
Keep me posted.

Google talk authentication fails

I stupidly altered my gmail address from @googlemail to @gmail (I'm in the UK) and then realised that you can't change the account on the phone without a factory reset on the phone so undid it and deleted the new @gmail account from my phone (keeping the original @googlemail one).
Now I keep getting the message that Google talk authentication has failed and I can't download anything from the market - any help out there?
Change it back
I did the same and then had to log in to my gmail account and change it back to googlemail and its fine again now :0
check out the google forum here which is also discussing it

I did the same but ended up factory resetting the phone and reconfiguring it for gmail.com.
It's a pain but it allows you to use Picasa sync and this is something I've wanted f'rages!

cheers
Dave
Thanks for the response but I have changed the account back to @googlemail from my laptop and it's still not working - as appears to be the case for others form the thread you connected me to

I don't have any purchased apps but Titanium Backup restored my apps pretty successfully.
Picasa sync seems to send small versions of your pictures to your phone. Certainly don't have 2gb of pictures on my phone as I would have noticed this happening.
Well I gave up and did a factory reset back to @googlemail and all seems well. A relatively painless process except that the desire backup routine seems to save a rather eclectic selection of your settings

Hey guys!
Same here. Loving this ROM just awesome but no market downloads and GTALK authentification failed.
Thing is I have reinstalled the ROM and was able to log into gtalk for 5 mins then it is logging out and can't go back in!
Anybody got a fix for this?
Thanks for all the hard work from the XDA devs! U guys rock.
hey guys! i have recently installed in my hd2 the 2.3.3 android version and i also have the same problem with google talk authentication. How can i fix the problem? Thank u
Possible fix
I just stumbled across this thread because I was getting the same error on a Mytouch 3G slide and I found a way to fix it. all I had to do was force the phone to authenticate thru wifi and not the cell network once, then I was able to authenticate successfully the regular way after that. the way I did it on my phone was to remove the sim, but on a CDMA phone like yours you could try to activate airplane mode (settings>Wireless & networks), then turn on wifi and connect to a working wifi connection, log into the google talk app, then disable airplane mode.
I had this very problem and fortunately came across a solution courtesy of pascalsg which worked for me that was in the BoyPPC -ShiftPDA Android ROM for HD2. The problem with Talk authentication seemed to interfere with my Market downloading causing any 'starting downloads' to just hang.
First I enabled chat in the Gmail account on the desktop. Then I cleared data on the phone \settings\applications\manage applications\all (for Google Backup Transport, Google Partner Set Up, Google Services Framework and Market as per the solution above. Then I rebooted the phone. Then for some reason there was no authentication issue. I then went into the application settings of Talk on the phone and turned off "automatic sign in. Now there are no repeated error messages about authentication failure and the Android Market works as it should.
google fails
Try a different SD rom, I used americandroid and everything worked on my HTC hd2 now on another rom and Google fails again

This worked perfectly for me. Couldn't log into google talk or download apps from marketplace. Used airplane mode then turned on wifi only, then connected to google talk instantly. After that, I can turn airplane mode off and log in to google talk and download apps.
[solved] talk authentication failed on android
SOLUTION:
NOTE: You WON'T lose all your installed apps if you do this (at least I didn't). However, if you clear the data for Settings, you will lose your preferences. Try doing it w/o clearing the data for settings, then if that fails do it again and clear the Settings data.
1. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
2. Press All (or Show All, etc.)
3. Clear Data for the following Apps (if data is clearable):
- Account and Sync Settings
- com.google.andriod.feedback
- Gmail (and Gmail Storage if it is there)
- Google Services Framework
- Google Voice
- Maps
- Market & Market Updater
- Network Location
- News and Weather
- Search
- Sound Recorder
- Talk
- TTS Service
- Voice Search
- VPN Services
- World Newspapers
- YouTube
- Settings (Settings will close when you clear its data)
I don't use the email client app (not the Gmail app but the one simply called 'Email'), so I don't know if you'll need to clear its data or not. If all else fails, try it (I imagine you'll lose any downloaded emails).
4. Clear the data for any apps associated with any of the above listed apps.
5. Clear the data for any other applications affiliated with Google or your Google account.
6. Clear the data for any applications that aren't uninstallable, i.e. 'built-in' applications.
7. Reboot and you're done. Google Talk should work correctly now.
I'm sure this is overkill. Some of these apps may not have anything to do with the problem but when I cleared the data for them and rebooted, Google Talk worked correctly. Also, I am using an Archos 70 IT so you might have some different requirements for this procedure on your phone/tablet. BTW I got the Google Talk error when I changed the password on my primary Google account.
Good luck!

Gallery help

For whatever reason pictures from picasa are showing up in my gallery and I have never used picasa and it won't let me delete them. They constantly show in my gallery and I can't get them out...
Any suggestions? Thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I somehow managed this one as well.
Would hope for a more useful reply.
I tried toggling sync under my google account and rebooting and such and even tried manually searching for the pictures internally in my phone.
Fortunately, I made a non-related nandroid like 40 minutes earlier before applying a framework mod.
Reverted and reapplied to get back to where I was.
All I did to get the stubborn buggars to show up in the first place was click the "refresh" option in gallery.

i think the pics come from google+ (at least in my case)
should be the same pic you see in google+ / photo
so..or u uninstall google+, or remove all the pics in google+, or you have to live with the pics in ur gallery as i do
1. Disable sync for google photos under account & sync
2. Go to apps > Gallery
3. Force stop then clear data
If you enable google photo sync accidentally, the picasa album will show up in gallery again. Just repeat the steps above to remove it.
Lastly, use search next time. This question has been asked gazillion times.

anyway they disappear from the gallery after a phone reboot (maybe just sdcard rescan is enough)

If you have google+ installed and the albums are showing up again, clear data for G+ too.
They need to patch this coz it shouldn't be so troublesome.

[Q] Can't get Google Photos on the LG G4

Anyone know how to get Photos to work on the LG G4? I can bring up Photos on the computer. Other Google apps work fine on the phone but when I try to access Photos it first asks me to sign in and then either continually says "this account already exists on your device". or say can't connect to server try again later. Of course the account already exists on the device. Otherwise I'd be creating a new account, not signing in with an old one. I've tried erasing cache and data in the Photos app and stopping the app. I've also tried removing my Google account on the phone and then re-enabling it. Nothing seems to work. I've noticed others with other new phones have had the same problem but no solutions have been found.
Google Photos, just works fine here on my LG G4 H818N. No issues, so far.
A reboot evidently all that was needed. Working fine now.
Ha! A reboot fixes most things.. and if not, factory reset! Seems to be a common trend with our phones. I would have suggested to clear data and cache from the app menu -> google photos, however.
I had this issue too. I tried all of the above for two day, nothing worked. Today, everything is fine.
I was able to log in without issues but I couldn't search for photos. There was simply no search button or search option like in all the screenshots. Was super confused

anyone having an issue with Google photos?

I can't get Google photos to back up any of my pics or videos. I have it set up appropriately (never had a problem on any other device including my op5) but on the option it just says "getting photos" but that's it.
It won't even back up my photos if in try to do it manually
The only issue I have with Google Photos, on any device, is how janky and terrible the pinch to zoom is. I doubt Google even tests any of their apps anymore.
That's why I'll never use it as the main Gallery or to show off Photos. It's embarrassing.
As far as backing up, that seems to be working ok for me. As long as it's Sync'd under Account Settings, it's usually fine.

Had the same issue when I changed to OP5T.
It would sit at "getting photos..." and not do a thing (even the network speed in status bar was 0 K/s).
I resolved it by cleaning the its data and cache in storage (Settings>Apps>Application List>Photos>Storage>Clear Data) and go through the setup process again.
Hope it resolves your issue also.

Hey thanks that worked. I originally tried disabling and enabling it (that used to clear all data) but apparently not anymore. Clearing data for the app worked perfectly. Thank you

Question Google dialer

Hello guys, I am considering to buy Red Magic 6 Pro and was wondering if it comes default with Google Phone (Dialer)? I really enjoy Google Dialer in my current phone as it can block spam automatically and has nearby places etc.
Nope comes with their dialer. I downloaded Googler Dialer and it wouldn't ring for me anymore. I had to delete it to get the phone to ring again.
@veedubsky have you tried setting google dialer as default? or vice versa? by vice versa I mean keep the stock dialer as default, because sometimes setting Google dialer default also breaks things. you could also install Google dialer framework from Magisk modules if you are rooted.
I've had the same issue with the RM5G since launch.
The Google Dialer on my 5G uses/sees notification sounds only instead of ringtones when you access its notification settings. It also defaults to silent. Contact ringtone settings also have no effect. I've tried multiple versions of the Google Dialer (on multiple stock ROM versions) without success - forced back to using the stock Dialer, unfortunately.
I'm inclined to think it's a ROM issue in terms of how ringtones/notification sounds are configured/defined.

Yup tried setting as default and then clearing default and leaving it alone. Either way the Google dialer wouldn't not produce a ringtone alert. I get the answer screen but no sound or vibe. Deleted it and stuck with the stock dialer.
How to get Google Phone/ Dialer to Work as default (Incoming Calls Ring).
Step 1: Go into settings and disabled volte in calls.

So it is not possible to keep Volte enabled? Does it not ring when google dialer is made default? Could you please check if automatic spam blocking and nearby places work?

Doesn't work on my RM5G. I didn't use the .apk you linked and downloaded the latest version from the Play Store instead.
VOLTE on/off made no difference.
I hoped that disabling the stock contacts app would solve the issue (since it's an integrated Dialer/Contacts), but it made no difference. Calls ARE received/displayed using the Google Dialer, but no ringtone is played/heard.
Investigating further, I noticed we have a ”Call Management" app that can't be disabled and may be the culprit.

you need to use the apks which I posted...updated apks will not work.
I am using T-Mobile and i cannot turn off VoLTE. They forced everyone on their network to use VoTLE. earlier this year. They will do the same on ATT early next year when they remove 3G network. I wish there was another way to fix this. I hate this Dialer on my RM6 Pro.
Anyone else having issues where you cant hear the other person when answering calls? I have to change to speaker for a second and then back to handset just to hear them.
Does anyone know of any dialer that works with the RM6? I tried many and they all have the same issues you guys are talking about. It wont ring on incoming calls. I can receive but wont hear the ringing on the phone.
