Front facing camera focus issues - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

When I'm taking group selfies using my OnePlus Three, the subject closest to the camera turns out to be really sharp, while the others get blurred. Is there any way/third party app to fix this focusing issue?

Photojojo lens attachments for Nexus 5

Photojojo lens attachments work with the Nexus 5. apparently, the ring around the Nexus 5 camera lens is a magnet and the lens attachments are a perfect fit.
go to the link below for a vid of the attachment and some pics:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1q6jv7/nexus_5_camera_has_magnet_ring_builtin_for_addon/
i still want Google to fix the camera software (auto focus and shutter speeds, camera app itself, etc), but i'm starting to wonder when Vic Gundotra stated months ago that the Nexus device will have an "insanely great camera"...maybe he was alluding to lens attachments for the Nexus 5?
it kinda makes sense...especially if Google purposely designed the Nexus 5 with a magnetic ring specifically for lens attachments. it's possible they may release their own lens attachments through the Play store.
go here for Photojojo lens attachments.
didn't see a thread posted here about this, but please delete if this is a duplicate.
i don't know how well it will perform combined with the ois. if the sensor and the internal lens moves because of the ois shouldn't also the external lens move? i'm not an expert in photography, but i think that if the sensor moves it probably will be out of the focal point of the external lens leading to crappy photos.

The lens isn't the thing that moves in OIS, it's the sensor. That's what allows for the images to stay stable even when there's movement. So, it shouldn't matter.

That's the G2 camera, not the N5.
I don't know if they use the same OIS technology though.
The lens doesn't move, the sensor does.
Just got my 3 lenses from Photojojo in the mail for my Nexus 5 and the magnets do not work. The magnet in the phone pushes the lense away. So the polarities are wrong on these lenses. Also the metal rings that come with them are crap. They fall off very quickly. Unfortunately I will have to return these lenses. I was looking forward to using them
I just received the marco and fish-eye lenses. The macro works but the fish-eye is the wrong polarity. I called Photojojo and was told the polarity is random and that they can't test to make sure they send a Nexus 5 friendly lens. This is very unfortunate. The macro is just ok. The fish-eye would have been cool. I'm returning both.
These are very expensive. This generic set is probably just as good at a fraction of the price http://amzn.to/IDG1Ti
I ordered the Patuoxun lenses and they the same polarity as my nexus, they don't stick to the camera lens, they repel. Has anyone had any luck with these sticking?

A5 front camera blur issue

I noticed front camera photos are blur when I take selfie at the extend of hand! If I take close selfie, it's not. But if subjects are far(as long as hand length), the photo is totally blur.
any solution for this? I used open camera and camera FV but results are same.
How to make Samsung hear our voice to fix this?
By the way, I have Huawei nova which doesn't have front camera auto focus but photos aren't blur at all.
Hello, I have the same problem. When focusing before taking the photo, is focused. But when you take it, it goes out of focus. Focusing on objects in front of the face.
I'm selling my A5 as its front camera is totally useless. All photos I take, unless I'm close to camera, are blur! I'm now using my Huawei Nova which has similar specs. It even has no focus in front camera but photos are clear crystal.
Guys, I tried contacting Samsung on their .eu website and got a very funny reply:

Try to use the screen flash when taking a selfie. I've tried it on my a5 2017

I don't have this problem, I used the front cam to take the below image from a distance in low light and it is perfectly ok, I think you need to send your phone to Samsung to fix.

Yes i have this problem
It take to crazy !!
Any fix ! Hobe to fix
The camera is not bad. Well. If you want focus, use the rear camera. In the good lighting conditions the front 16mpX is awesome for selfies.

I admire Samasung's OLED and AOD (Always On Display) features among other good features like using reversible USB, bringing Nougat to A* 2017 series.
@alirezaircn
I have a few questions:
Have you ever heard about front camera focus problem on other A* 2017 phones like A7 2017 or A3 2017?
As a customer who experienced super clear very beautiful vivid colors on A5 2017, how much worse is Huawei Nova LCD screen rather than A5 2017?
Has Huawei provided Nougat update for Nova?
Thanks in advance
I noticed that too. So much for being a 16mp shooter. Everything I tried to shoot is always getting blurred. Feels like im using a vga camera with a little bit of light. Lmao

[/COLOR]Damn I thought it was my problem that every time the photo is blurry so it was the phone issue I recently buied that phone & it was really awesome until I found this issue should we approach service centre for that issue or wait for the updates???
The problem in this phone is that the front camera's depth-of-field is very low. If you dont know, most selfies have friends behind us. And your camera makes them all blur. Poor customers think it is their fault. They don't know Samsung engineers have done a bad job. So sad that This issue cannot be even fixed. The front camera of even chinese phones is awesome. No one is blurred even if they stand 5 ft away from my face. I had previously samsung S4 mini, j5 2015, music duos 6012, mega 5.8 and wanted to be a loyal customer to samsung. Now I don't trust and dont wanna recommend to my friends or others in future. Im so sad because of this retarded front camera
even my j7 pro 2017 has bad front camera.

my j7 pro 2017 always get out of focus image when we try to take group selfies. probably due to depth of the field issue

Xiaomi Mi 5s camera replacement focus issue

So I got a main camera replacement (from ebay), since my old camera has weird blurry spots on the lens. The replacement camera fixes this issue, but seems incapable of focusing on far objects. Alright, just a camera with a broken autofocus, I'd think. What's weird is that I can hear and see the autofocus working on objects <2 m. For instance, the camera makes good macro photos and adjust the focus when I adjust the distance to the object. Does anyone have a explanation or a possible solution to this problem? I'm afraid of another hardware issue, but I'm hoping someone could at least explain what's wrong.
ps. I tested with and without the lens cover to exclude a dirty cover from creating the problems
Thanks in advance!
Most cheap camera replacement out there is not original.
Check it again if it's original or not

GCAM with aux lens working [No Root]

Today i found a thread here on xda claiming that a developer named Wichaya has a gcam port in which all the lens work completely fine.
I went ahead and downloaded the latest version and loaded the respective config file. Everything works perfectly in the port. I'll share the link for everyone to try and test it.

Installed on my OP7T and everything seems to work correctly. But does anyone know which "AWB in HDR+ Enchanced" setting is best? It gives me 3 options (Pixel 3, Pixel 2, & IMX586).
I don't really notice a difference between the 3 options.

Our phone doesn't have any dedicated macro lens, instead it uses ultra wide lens for taking macro photos when using OnePlus camera app I think,, though I'm not 100% sure about it. 7T has 48MP wide (main rear cam), 12MP 2x telephoto and 16MP ultra wide. That's why a specific 'macro' button isn't there in the Gcam screen on 7T, like it shown on that XDA thread which I think that phone has a dedicated macro lens.

I clicked 3 photos in 3 different AWB settings and i can say that Pixel 2 AWB has the warmest color rendition whileas Pixel 3 AWB has somewhat lowered down warmth. The IMX586 AWB has the closest to real life color rendition. You can test it in greenery and blue skies, where the difference is clearly visible
Can someone help me understand the 3 buttons that's appear on the botton left hand side after loading the XML configs. I am interested in the first two actually. One with the SUN icon and the second with the finger pointing.

This makes sense, considering that's what sensor the 7T uses.
I could be wrong. I honestly do rarely claim to know what I'm talking about
However, seeing that it's apparently still being used in newer models of OnePlus as well as numerous other manufacturers and models (262 in total, counting the 7T) according to this kimovil.com page, I wouldn't be surprised if before too long we start to see improved versions of the algorithms used in this camera on other (arguably better) models find their ways to the 7T.
Edit:
Check out GSMArena's camera compare tool between the 7T, the Asus ROG Phone 2 and the Nubia Magic 3. All three use the same sensor. Since the sensor's the same, it begs the question: Is the hardware between the sensor and the OS any different, or is the improvement of photo entirely in firmware?
I wouldn't mind having photos like that ROG 2 come out of my 7T! Look at any fine detail area, but I like comparing the "Series 2013" on the five-dollar bill of the "good light" sample. I gotta say though... I didn't look at the "low light" sample before, but our 7T (stock) does better in low light than the other two I chose for comparison. Maybe there's something to be said for it -- especially considering night-time photography is a thing I want to play with...

Sun icon is Exposure Compensation (Automatic with A and Manual with Sun icon), AWB is Auto White Balance with 3 different modes. Finger icon is Focus Tracking Button (On and Off)

Yes, there is a lot of difference in the algorithms of every smartphone vendor. Despite all of them having the same hardware, the details, color, white balance etc. all come out to be different. Like everybody wants to have GCam because of the Image Signal Processing it provides, which is way better than any other manufacturer.
Any idea how to enable 10 bit recording in bt 2020?
It works but slow motion recording crashes the app. It also takes time to switch between the cameras. Any solutions for these issues?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is what I have been waiting for since getting this phone. Wow what a difference this makes. My only question is how can I adjust the sharpness of the front selfie camera? Like all Gcam apps the selfie camera is way too strong and the sharpness needs to be toned down but I cant find any of the settings to do this.
Any possibility of getting full resolution with Gcam mod, it is giving only 12MP in rear camera
I've been using this mod for quite a while but couldn't figure out a way to get the DNG (RAW files) working well with any editing apps ??*
Using newest Wichaya 3.1.1 and it is fantastic. Very accurate pictures, (too accurate, if you have an ugly face like moi. The night shot is slightly slower than stock, but works well. Also, the macro actually zooms closer than stock by a good margin! Use the wide angle lens and just zoom in!
Do the aux lenses work with the new Android 11 beta?

Updated my OnePlus 7T to Android 11 Beta 2 and, unfortunately, it looks like the only lens working is the main one. The others just show a black screen but at least it doesn't crash.

Question Selfie camera quality

I've been taking a lot of photos as of late, both with the front and rear cameras. I've noticed for a while that the selfie camera doesn't really produce clear and crisp images the way my old 2XL did. I've come across a thread where some folks have encountered the same issue, and wondering if anyone else here is experiencing this?
I've included a link that best shows exactly what I'm talking about, although the person isn't me in the thread.
If the camera is this bad I hope it can be fixed.

I have the same issue and it is frustrating, I also tried with 3rd party apps but still, the selfie images are kinda blurry. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue?
I've noticed the same compared to my 4xl. The selfies under lower than normal light come out a bit blurry or not as good as I remember them on my previous phone.
The front camera is a fixed focus lens. Physically it has a sharp spot and only that spot is sharp, the rest of it is all processing.
No real way around physics and lack of autofocus.
