So I got a main camera replacement (from ebay), since my old camera has weird blurry spots on the lens. The replacement camera fixes this issue, but seems incapable of focusing on far objects. Alright, just a camera with a broken autofocus, I'd think. What's weird is that I can hear and see the autofocus working on objects <2 m. For instance, the camera makes good macro photos and adjust the focus when I adjust the distance to the object. Does anyone have a explanation or a possible solution to this problem? I'm afraid of another hardware issue, but I'm hoping someone could at least explain what's wrong.
ps. I tested with and without the lens cover to exclude a dirty cover from creating the problems
Thanks in advance!
Most cheap camera replacement out there is not original.
Check it again if it's original or not

hi,
few days ago I dropped my desire on the ground and since then I have this camera issue - I cant focus objects that are more than 30 cm far from camera - it's all blury. in close it works very good, like it should.
all that i could figure out is - that focusing mechanism stucks at certain point and cant focus objects in far.
i wanted to ask if anyone has had similar problem?
is this camera defect repairable or should I buy new one? and are cameras for desire sold seperately anyway?
Thanks in advice.
The Camera isnt like a digital camera, there is no Optical (moving/mechanical) zoom, its all Digital Zoom, cameras are repareable and you can proably pick one up off ebay
Oddly enough when you take the picture and see it on the Phone/Computer is it blurry??
http://content6-foto.inbox.lv/albums137027374/martinzg/htc/focus.jpg
in title there is link of the example of what I get from my camera
Oddly enough it looks like tap to zoom on the keyboard, but with things in teh distance they are slightly blurred as an out of focus camera effect, oddly enough have you tried flashing the same ROM again??
Additionally you can always look at the repair option just as a safety net, ebay should have cameras (might be hard to spot to start off with though) and you can always look to the shops for repair info/advice, just dont tell them you dropped it like i did, as it appears warrenties dont cover accidental damage (damn Apple Store)
there is no changes when I take photo with flashlight - it's still blurry.
so, do you have any idea why pictures in distance is out of focus?
couldnt it be some kind of mechanical defect?
I have the exact same issue martinzg.
Will focus up close but not on anything over a foot away.
Contacted HTC this morning waiting for a reply.
I have the same problem here.. any news?
exact same problem here
old post, but I have the same issue !
Anyone a solution ?

Does anyone else here have poor camera quality, specifically the front facing camera? I feel as if the focus is set wrong, I cannot even get a clear picture of myself or anything.
I may be wrong, but I think the FFC is fixed focus.
I tested it in the store where I bought it and it was okay even though the definition was poor, but at home in the evening with low lighting it's pretty much unusable.
IMHO, manufacturers should scrap the back camera in tablets and only put a single, good quality, front-facing one.
Has anyone also the problem with the front facing cam, that it only delivers sharp pictures while holding the cam no too far away? If I hold my arm fully streched, the image is never 100% sharp. The view finder shows a sharp picture but the result is blurred. I really start to worry that my front facing lens might be broken. But if this was correct, the preview was also blurred, right?
Hi,
I've been experiencing the same issue. Any subject beyond arm's length appears blurry. Not sure why this is. Were you able to solve this issue in some way?
The front facing camera probably has fixed focus so moving the subject further away will result in a blurry image. There's also some very aggressive noise reduction processing that really softens the image regardless. I don't find the front camera to be particularly impressive despite being optically stabilized, wish it still had the same sensor as the m9 as that provided better shots anyway.
Any solution to this guys on the selfie camera. Could it be a defective sensor of the selfie camera? If I am the object it works fine beyond one feet turns out to be blurry. I just got my 10, two weeks back. If anyone could solve kindly reply
Thanks
Any solutions for this. What I am currently doing is holding the camera close while taking selfies as this is the only solution I could find. Other then that it's a great device.
Did also not find a solution yet.
I am facing an unusualy issue which has cropped up suddenly.
I am not able to use the rear camera of the moto z play for anything as all images are extremely blurry as if an opaque cover is kept in front of it. But If I use the camera from a 1 inch or lesser distance, the clarity is superb as if its only meant for macro shots.
This issue is not happening with the front camera but only the rear camera.
Please help.

Sounds like hardware problem
Do you have a warranty?

Seems like problem with laser focus, check if manual focus is working or not.
If it's working then maybe it's the laser module that's giving trouble.
PS: check if the lens is clear and there's no dust inside.
Hi,
I changed my battery yesterday and my camera is behaving the same way. Manual focus does not work.
I had to apply a lot of heat to open the screen and also on the back, to loosen the old battery. Could it have damaged the rear camera?
If I replace the camera module, the laser sensor will be replaced too?
I also lost the finger print sensor, but maybe that's because I lost the lever of the zif connector.
OP, did you have some heat on your phone too?
I've been taking a lot of photos as of late, both with the front and rear cameras. I've noticed for a while that the selfie camera doesn't really produce clear and crisp images the way my old 2XL did. I've come across a thread where some folks have encountered the same issue, and wondering if anyone else here is experiencing this?
I've included a link that best shows exactly what I'm talking about, although the person isn't me in the thread.
If the camera is this bad I hope it can be fixed.

I have the same issue and it is frustrating, I also tried with 3rd party apps but still, the selfie images are kinda blurry. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue?
I've noticed the same compared to my 4xl. The selfies under lower than normal light come out a bit blurry or not as good as I remember them on my previous phone.
The front camera is a fixed focus lens. Physically it has a sharp spot and only that spot is sharp, the rest of it is all processing.
No real way around physics and lack of autofocus.

This. Some older models had front facing camera autofocus, P6 does not (unfortunately)

Do other phone manufacturers have this design, or is it only google?
