Hi,
When i try putting the phone to my ear to hear voice messages on whatsapp and telegram on the earpiece vs the speaker it does not work properly.
It either starts and stops a few times until it finally plays in the earpiece or it just plays on speaker even if the screen goes black due to the proximity sensor.
Anyone else come accross this issue?
same here...
Same on Galaxy S7 RR Nougat
I have the same problem. Did you found out how to solve?
Thanks in advance! =)

Hey Guys,
yesterday i recived a text message and as the notification sound played i noticed a loud background noise.
I never noticed that before, so its happening since yesterday. Everytime the rear speaker gets activated you can hear a very loud background noise, a hissing noise which ends with a loud click, when the speaker gets deactivated.
This happens everytime, incomming call, messages, dial pad sounds, music,...
(Running CM 6.1.1)
Anyone who knows what to do? Should i return the device?
A hiss? Sounds like the speaker is dammaged. Do you know anyone with the same phone? You can compair then. Or can your record a video of the sound & share the link here? That way we can tell you if its normal or not

Hi,
i allready asked one of my mates if he has got the same problem. But he hasn't.
I wanted to record it, but you don't really hear much of it, since the sound which is comming out of the speaker is nearly the same noise as the background noise of the recording.
I will mail my distributor to get a new phone.
So I am on CM 9 B1. I was on PA 2.1 yesterday(few days before too), but as of right now when I try a video call apps the sound will not play through the speaker, only the spot up top where you put your ear. This has been happening for a short while and very frustrating because I use video chat to keep in touch with family and friends. Before the call connects there is sound through the speaker.
Anyone else have this issue or a fix?

Hi,
got my OP3 yesterday and already upgraded to OxygenOS 3.2.4. Works great, only issue I have is the very low microphone volume when recording WhatsApp Voicenotes, I have to turn up the volume of the speakers to the max to even understand it at all, which is a bit weird. Even when I directly talk into the microphone at the bottom of the phone besides the headphone jack, it is still very quiet.
Is there a fix for this? Anyone else experienced this? I only found a fix for the video recording microphone quality, but I don't think that that will affect WhatsApp Voicenotes, right?

+1. The OnePlus 3 has very low volume WhatsApp voice note recordings, and when you use headphones to record it's louder but there's a constant jack noise that's kinda annoying

Hi,
When I try putting the phone to my ear to hear voice messages on WhatsApp and telegram on the earpiece vs the speaker it does not work properly.
It starts playing normally but if I get any notification it starts playing really loudly on speaker until I move it away from my face again and then I have to press play again in order for it to play in the earpiece.
Anyone else come across this issue?
I have had this issue not only with Pixel 2 XL.
S8+, N6P, Oneplus One..
After I updated to Android 10, a few of my friends on Discord said that they can barely hear me. I made sure my mic was as sensitive as possible in Discord and I barely saw the audio meter go up. Used an app to record my voice and noticed how quiet it is. I've tested this on both PixelDust and stock, and the microphone problem was still there. I downgraded to Pie for a bit and noticed that my mic was normal again, but when I updated back to 10, my mic was insanely quiet again. Is there any way to change your microphone volume in Android?
I can't say about Discord but make sure you have not fallen victim to the infamous microphone issue which plagued the OG Pixels widely, myself included.
It seems that Android 10 is forcing my mic to use the earpiece mic instead of the speaker mic in every app by default now.
Edit: After further testing, plugging in any headset won't change the mic input either. It's stuck on the earpiece mic.
