Hi!
So I did a speed test to see how much faster my OP3 would be and to my surprise in all games that I tried it was about 20% slower to load than my s6. (both units running their newest stock OS with no crazy mods or anything) The games tried were: Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers & Asphalt 8. The op3 does well in storage benchmarks and in regular benchmarks as well. (144k antutu) What could be the reason?
Those game have to load higher resolution textures in the op3 probably
Try arter97's kernel and ROM, games will load much faster than on stock OOS, maybe slightly faster than on your galaxy S6. It is mostly because of samsung's sdcardfs.

Oxygen Camera app & dng raw shooting from within it are more important to me than speed. I was just wondering if this behavior is normal. Would the Arter kernel work with stock?
I should probably mention that I have done storage benchmarks on the s6 as well & although I know that it's very difficult the measure the real performance of solide state memory, it appears to me that the OP3's beats the s6's easily.
Different software (mostly kernel), simple as that.
Arter's kernel will NOT work with OOS, it's for CM only. It does load stuff a lot faster indeed, but it's security is ... well, non-existent (won't go into technical details, search about "selinux" if you're interested).
I'd suggest reformatting your data partition to f2fs and using blu_spark kernel, should speed things up a bit.

blu_spark with f2fs does nothing I didn't see any real world performance improvement.

What... Changing the resolution doesn't change the texture resolution haha. The OP3 uses a higher end GPU so the games themselves use better quality textures/other graphical effects when detecting the better hardware.

If you are running on the current release of Oxygen OS this is normal. The load times are worse because the system is formatted in ext4. If you flash the latest community build for the OP3, you get the updated system in f2fs which is blazing fast. Games that took between 30-45 seconds to load, only take 10-15 seconds now on my device. Be aware that you need to format your device in order to change it to f2fs.
If you don't feel like moving to the community builds, just wait until the end of the month or early December for the official update. I suppose you'll have to format the system either way otherwise you'll be stuck in ext4.

Not reall,. ios is faster loading games. If u want same res then try the 6s+ and will notice that it will still lpad much faster. Developer really optimize their games for ios, they load faster and run better. I

Hey guys,
I wonder if the so called gaming SoC will get any better in terms of gaming performance with further updates from HTC. At the moment the games run barely as good as on my SGS2. I know..the resolution of the HOX is twice as high but the games graphics ar getting better and I cant even play NOVA 3 with my 'gaming device'... There is a way to make it a bit less laggy with new Base and franco kernel but it's still far away from beeing smooth. What I want to ask you is: Is there still potential for tegra 3 to run those games smooth and it's just a matter of time till an update comes that improves the framerates or is it just hardware limited? Are there other Tegra 3 devices which can run these games without any issues? I'm hoping that the 3.* kernel will improve something but actually I have no clue.
well u have to look at this from the point of view of the game/software/hardware
the one game u mentioned is not HOX compatible,
it's been force run on the device.... so as far as this go..... you'll need to wait for the game to be T3 optimized
software optimizations are still underway from both xda devs and htc.... and as u see they are getting better by the day
and finally not much to say about the hardware but... its more than capable just give it time.

hello,my htc 10 performance is very poor so i decided to stress test my phone using the antutu app.
as you can see the cpu load is varying between 80-90% but the speed deosnt pass 1200-1600 mhz range. the maximum frequency is 2200.。
i have lag in almost every graphice intense game
i have poor performance and i dont know what to do, should i return the phone and request another one or is there something i can do?:crying:
Im getting pretty much the same problem, download an app off the playstore called fps test and can you tell me if the framerate seems to stick at 50fps then jump to 60fps then back to 50, or just stays at 50.

Yes i tested and i got about 49-50 fps then after about 15-20 seconds it jumps up to 59-60 and comes back down
Yeah I think that must have something to do with it, im getting that too and my phone seems really slow also. I wonder if its a defect, I just got it the other day. Can anyone else who has their phone working normally also test?

Yea i got the phone for a month, i asked everyone who has it ,how they run high graphic games and they say they have no lag..i think we might have a faulty phone

This is normal for games, smartphones are not an highend PC.
Also, read post 6 in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/laggy-homescreen-gaming-t3434178
It probably has something to do with software (HTC firmware).
What game did you test ? Alsphalt 8 is pretty bad optimised

Yeah but i have lag in every game with a bit of a higher graphic, even in hearthstone it lags pretty hard ,on the other hand other devices run it almost flawless

Also as you can see from the stress test, the device
Doesnt really pass 1200-1300 mhz even at almost full load
Do you have a lot of widgets running ?
Try clearing cache (junk) in Boost+
you can try factory reset

Just the basic google search, also cache is cleared and i factory reseted the phone a week ago but it didnt really do anything
Just did a stress test in antutu like you did.
My wifi was turned off, no apps in background, everything stock, new phone.
I got almost the same results like you, a bit better though, but my cpu speed frequency doesn`t go over 1600 mhz. It looks like this is normal. 820 cpu can run at 2200, but it is always a bit underclocked on smartphones.
It must be that software (HTC firmware) is doing some harm to gaming
Try downloading an app called fps test, its icon is an orange circle. Can you see what the framerate is on it/ whether its stable. I've never ever had this problem on any other phone.
Read something yesterday about HTC shutting down one of the cores once a certain temperature is reached, dunno if that is what's causing your issue, there was also a work around in the rom / kernel section which upped the temperature before the setting kicked in...

Have you turned on High Performance Mode in the developer options?
HTC 10
This isn't as simple as saying its the phone itself. Android is an open source OS with a number of different devices so it's harder to optimize games for every phone, then with the higher screen resolution on newer phones this can also slow down frame rate. Another thing that has caused issues is the Nougat update which they are suppose to fix soon, this could be why an older phone runs games smoother due to lower screen resolution and and older version of Android which has had time to be perfected and receive necessary updates. The HTC 10 is actually a gaming beast compared to other Android devices. With the HTC 10 you can go into developer options (by going to ABOUT phone and clicking on "build number 7 times, developer options will then be added into your settings. Inside developer options you can then click "high performance mode" which will over clock your CPU to boost performance (only use when your phone is plugged in because it will drain battery fast). By scrolling to the bottom of the screen click advanced and you can then turn off animations (this will make your phone a little faster). If you want higher frame rate click (force gpu rendering) this will help boost frame rate by offloading graphics onto the gpu freeing up power of the CPU (this may or may not degrade graphics slightly). If you want to improve 3D graphics you can click "4xmsaa".
After a few weeks of running the official Marshmallow update on my T700 I can state for certain that there is an observable drop in framerate for my games. I primarily use the tablet to play games and this is a deal breaker for me, thus a solution must be found. There is currently no custom kernel compatible with the stock MM TouchWiz, nor there seem to be any root app to OC the GPU and tone down thermal throttling (assuming this is tuned up in MM as my tablet used to run hotter in Lollipop and with higher framerate).
So the question to all is: is your Tab S running games worse after the MM update than before?
Have you tried the ASOP Vanilla version of MM, I was running this before the official touchwiz MM was released, I am not a gamer but people say it runs faster.

John.
What I did was to get the stock Rom posted by Ashyx, unzip it and do some debloating, then re-zip and install it.
It runs way too hot and slow with the complete Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/rom-t705-t700-marshmallow-6-0-1-port-t3456698
well i run the ressurection rom on my tab S 10.5 but to honest the performance of the tab S is so weak since lollipop, all the app such as dead trigger 2 , asphalt nitro , modern combat 5 and more run so badly and those are ugly on tab S due to his resolution of 2560x1600 which is completely gimp the tab and drain the batterie so fast. I don't understand back when the TAB S was release in 2014 this tablet was a gaming machine now its a lagg machine. The only way we could get better performance is to wait for a kernel such as ironkernel or phoenix kernel or even skyhigh kernel to be release on a rom then dl it oc the cpu and gpu and then go playing or download android lollipop and take either ironrom or phoenix rom but even tho the games look terrible on lollipop even worst than on kitkat so yeah we're screwed thanks samsung.
I agreed that for playing games, choosing this tablet over nvidia shield definitely feels like a mistake now. But upgrading to MM should have improved the situation, not worsen it... Game Tuner app that drops down resolution in gaming apps supposedly helps with performance, but it doesn't really. I think the answer to my problem should really be a new tablet that has a hardware spec friendly to gaming, but I can't find one with size similar to the Tab S that isn't EoL (like the Shield Tablet).

Thanks. I'm running this ROM now. Battery is hotter and it drains faster... but my games have normal framerate now like it was on lollipop. Samsung definitely did something sinister with thermal throttling in the MM build.

Looking into that now... the specs are otherwise good except the chipset being kirin... not sure how much dev support the device is going to get >.<
I have a rooted oneplus 3. After trying out various ROMS I feel that for me the Stock OOS is the idle one and thus m still using it. I recently started playing games with high graphics and want to utilize my 6GB ram and the 820 processor. Can anyone suggest me and guide me through setting up a Kernel which is optimized for games with high graphics and power usage.

The advanced kernel tweaks thread would be a good place to start and by doing your own research you can tweak things exactly how you like it instead of going off others opinions ...
Hi guys, I found my old nexus 7.. how can I increase the performance of this beautiful tablet? I loved it when it was new (a lot of time ago) and now I'd like to renovate it to use it on 2021.. some suggestions?
You can replace its software with Lineage OS providing Android 10 or 11, but be aware of the fact that the performance of the Nexus 7 will be somewhat slow due to the fact that it only has 2 GB of RAM built in.

Do you think android 10/11 is better for performance? Or is it better something lighter like an old rom? (Maybe android 5/6)

Well it won't run as fast as a tab s7, but android 10/11 is definitely fine as long as you have quad core.
There are also loads of ultracheap phones that also have android 11, quad core, and 2 GB ram. So nexus 7 will be capable of running it.
If it is too slow for you you can always flash back to the stock rom 5.1 lollipop from google.
You can try lowering the screen resolution. For me a lot of times the gpu was a bottleneck when scrolling or even some simple puzzle games lag.
With lower resolution the smoothness increase quite a bit. You can experiment with resolution changer
Edit: I'm on Android 9 AEX with ElementalX kernel with GPU freq at 450 mhz. Many older games didn't have any resolution scaler setting and loved to run at native res so you have to use this workaround to get better performance
Root it And add swap memory and overclock the CPU (you can use the app App2sd) and it will run much much faster. Ive tried almost every rom there is for the nexus 7 and while 10 and 11 work you can certainly feel the "weight" on the system and the newer versions of android take up more space on your device. A LOT of space actually , I would recommend either 6 for for speed or 9 if you want the newest possible
I run LOS 18.1 official on my N7 2013; have been for ages. Admittedly, it's not the fastest system on the face of the planet, but it runs well and performs better than I expected it would.
I find after a reboot (which I very rarely need to do), it's best to leave the N7 for a few minutes to fully boot up and sort itself out. Once that's done, it runs quite nicely. Amazing that such an old device (8 years old) can run the latest ROMs (try that on a Windows PC!) and perform as well as it does.
I returned to the stock android 6 rom (rooted + elemntalx kernel) and the battery life is incredible (compared to the other roms) I didn't expect that! I downloaded the elementalx app to change kernel settings, some suggestion on what to change to increase a bit the performance?
