Hey guys, i have this interesting issue on my Pixel XL. When i am in my car, and the bluetooth auto connects, i am unable to select to have the audio come out of the speaker of the Pixel vs out of the car's bluetooth. Before this phone, i had the S7 Edge, and i could select the audio path to either the phone or through bluetooth, but there is no such option for the Pixel.
At the moment the only work around is to disable bluetooth completely.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I get what you're after?
But if you go to the Settings icon on your Bluetooth device, you have options for what does or does not get used for BT. See my pic.
I was looking for a quick way to select between an already connected Bluetooth connection and playing audio on the phone.. On the S7 edge there was an audio path selection that lets choose

The subject says it all. Can I route audio through Bluetooth A2DP and the phone's speaker simultaneously? I want to keep my phone connected to my car's audio system via Bluetooth voice and A2DP. But sometimes I want to switch to XM Radio or other sources. When I do that of course, I lose audio prompts from Google Navigation.
Is this possible?

I'm looking for the same thing. I can get audio through Bluetooth and have notifications go to speaker at the same time, but I can't get other media to go to speaker at the same time.
I would also be satisfied with a widget that lets me toggle the A2DP status of the Bluetooth connection on and off. It would not be the end of the world if I needed to toggle the A2DP off when I switch to another radio source and toggle back on when I go back to Bluetooth as the source in the car.

If you ask me I'd say it's possible.Whenever my phone is connected to my stereo through A2DP, the music is played through loudspeakers only by default. However, when there's an incoming call and my ringtone is being played I can hear it through loudspeakers AND the phone speaker, which creates a pretty cool surround effect. I'd really love to make my music player interact with all the speakers like this all the time. I took my chance installing various apps like SoundAbout to help me figure it out, all to no avail. Any ideas?
I love this phone so far, but one issue has me wanting to send it back to tmobile. My car comes with a Bluetooth stereo, and I have it paired with my m8. The problem is with the phone's OS and Bluetooth prioritization.
When I place a call, a window pops-up and asks what audio method I want to use. It is unnecessary, but I could live with that.
When a call comes in, it always defaults to the phone's internal speaker. I have to take it out of my pocket and manually select Bluetooth audio. Sometimes it doesn't even switch over after it is selected.
Is there a way to make it always default to Bluetooth audio when connected? It is driving me crazy!

same here...
maybe your car's bt stereo is not the best? or not compatible?
I have a kenwood dnx-7280bt and it works fine
I just bought a new car, 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid, that the cool kids refer to as HAH, anyways.....
Bluetooth output is sketchy at best.
Sometimes I get the side info like artist names and title songs.
Most of the time the sound has been playing from my phone speakers insteead of the car stereo.
Car indicates that the phone is connected but I cant get the output to function correctly.
Past ROMS and some apps have an output option but i cant seem to find any in youtube or play music.
Old 2012 Honda had no such issues.
thoughts or advice?
thanks
Maybe try to go back to stock and see what happens? What rom are you on?
Make sure you don't have any other Bluetooth devices outputting also like a smartwatch, it will interrupt your phone connection

If you go to System Settings | Bluetooth and then click the gear icon on your current Bluetooth connection, it'll give you options to select media and phone.
Did you verify both were selected? If media is not selected then music won't play on your car stereo.
So I have a 2016 Accord EX-L...The Bluetooth connection is sketchy for me as well. To get it to work I sometimes I have to toggle the Bluetooth on and off on my phone...Sometimes I have to change to a different source on the car head unit and then back to Bluetooth for it to output correctly...Sometimes it shows it is connected but only outputs sound through the phone. Additional, phone calls never worked through Bluetooth in the car. All of this was improved for me through the February security patch. I connect more often automatically like it should and my phone calls work now. However, time to time I have the same issues. I've done some research since I got the phone and it seems to be an issue on 2016 accords and now looks like 2017 have them too. I am holding out that the 7.1.2 update will resolve this problem but I have not found a solution yet.

Yes at the time of occurrence I verified that all the boxes were checked.
It was my first thought too, thanks

Sounds exactly like my experience.
Bluetooth issues are now getting a lot of press on the usual Android blogs and sites. Google acknowledges that they are working on it. So there is hope.

Yep! http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/0...-random-bluetooth-disconnects-pixel-pixel-xl/
Last update screwed up bluetooth for sure. Literally bought a new SUV a couple days before I got the update. The phone worked like a dream with the 12 speaker Sony head unit before and now can be a nightmare at times.
Looks like google has a fix, but no ETA on release.

At least Google admits something is wrong and a fix is in the works. I'm glad I don't have any issues on Resurrection Remix ROM with my 2013 toyota rav4.
Has anyone had any luck on getting their pixel to consistently connect to their Honda Accord? If I restart my phone it will be fine for the day but continue with the issue after that. Sometimes if I toggle "media audio" on and off it will connect normally. Other than that I have the same old issue. Has anyone solved this through rooting?
I have to toggle media on every time I connect to my Kia pixel kind of sucks

Hey all,
So I got the OTA Oreo update a few days ago and my Bluetooth seems to be working better so far. It connects to my car consistently and fully (I can control it from the head unit and the song info displays).
Only once has it had an issue like it use to before the update where it shows it connects but plays music through the phone.
Hopefully the update solves some of the issues we have been having to deal with!
Good afternoon all,
I absolutely love my Pixel 2 XL especially after getting the update to choose saturated display mode! One issue that I really have been having is that my Pixel will not remain connected to my car Bluetooth audio. I have an Infiniti Q50 that supports both android and iPhone. My note 8 stays connected no problem. What happens is, the phone connects to car and will start playing music but after about 30 seconds, the phone fully disconnects.
Any suggestions?
Zach
Have you tried going into the bluetooth settings then deleting and re-pairing your car receiver? I had an issue with the volume over bluetooth and that solved it.
I had bad bluetooth audio issues after the November update; it resolved after I cleared the data from the system bluetooth app, so you might try that.
I have Pixel 3 XL and this one bluetooth speaker, a JBL charge, won't auto connect to it. I have bluetooth on and when I go to the car it connects no problem. But the JBL it wont. I have to go into bluetooth settings, click paired devices, and click the JBL to pair it every time. Really annoying. Suggestions?

In BT settings under the device details of your JBL speaker which options do you have available? For testing I would turn all of them off (phone calls, contact sharing) except media audio. If you have HD audio available, you may try alternating between media audio and HD audio.

Exactly which model are you using eg. charge 3 or charge 4? Have you tried resetting the bt speaker? Are you using any other bt devices that may be conflicting, like a watch? If all this fails try downloading this app called BT Auto Connect. It's not regularly maintained but still works for me.
I have the same issue (years later, apparently). I have a JBL Flip and Flip 5 and neither will autoconnect to my macbook. I think, it might be an issue on my end since the same goes for my Marshall Killburn. Anyone with a similar problem?
Any help is appreciated.
