[Q] Welcome screen and Lock screen missing after flashing STOCK ROM - Samsung Captivate Glide

Hey! Need some help if possible. I was messing around with my Captivate Glide. Tried to install some other ROM's but all of them made the phone lost the baseband and IMEI (EFS). I tried restoring the EFS using EFS Pro Tool, but my phone is not being recognized while on CM 11. I decided just to flash back to stock, using the I927UCLJ3_I927ATTLJ3_ATT (which was the only ROM that was showing up the IMEI and got connectivity).
Something that's been bugging me is that after doing all this, the phone boots normally, but there was no welcome screen, it just jumped straight to the main menu without asking for the google account. On top of that, the power button no longer shows the options it did before (reboot, power off). With one press it powers off the screen. If I press it for 2 seconds the phone turns off. There's no even a lock screen on my phone. I've been unable to set lock screen security options. Any options that I select are useless. They do show up under settings, but they don't do anything.
I've been trying everything to get this options back, but I'm not sure how to. I've already flashed my phone to stock, tried with other ROMS, using the same I927ATTLJ3 as reference (since it's the only one that shows the IMEI for me) but nothing. It was showing on CM11 though, all power options where working, as well as the lock screen options. I'm desperate now.
Any help on this?

Have you factory reset your phone? That described things can happen especially when switching between ROMs

[q] need help

I bought the kids A100's last year for Christmas. I ended up un locking the bootloader because the ICS update was WAY too slow for my liking. Two weeks ago my sons decides that the unlock pattern is not going to work. You can get the screen to respond in a couple of spots and then go from there but the lines are jittery. I figure that it might need to have a hardware reset. Do that and get a screen with the bootloader info instead of erasing cache..
Find the sd card I had all the info on and tried to do a master rest. NO go. Brings me back to ICS and his lock pattern. I cannot remember how I unlocked the bootloader, did not add it to my favorites or anything else. Now I am stuck. If I am looking at this right the bootloader is unlocked and needs to be locked before I can do a recovery? Is that correct and how do I get that done and do a factory hardware reset?
Worried that if I call ACER with this I will void his warranty.
Power off, then hold power + furthest from the lock switch, press and hold power then toggle the lock switch a few times when the screen turns on to reset. It didn't reset if there is still a lock screen there.
Edit: forgot to mention, holding volume - while powering on will boot into recovery which if its twrp or cwm you can factory reset there, install a new ROM etc.

You definetly need to find out what you have done. As in if the bootloader is definetly unlocked and if you have a custom recovery. Just because it is not neccesary to do anything (ie: root, unlock or recovery) if you just wanted to flash a leaked ICS or the official.
Like Pio said, if you have a custom recovery, boot to it and factory reset/wipe data from there, or flash another rom/reflash. I'm not sure how the tab will react if you do a stock factory reset with the button sequence when you are rooted, unlocked bootloader, and custom recovery.
If the screen only responds in a few places, and is gittery in others, it could be a problem with the digitizer. Digitzer problems are reletively common on the A100. It would covered under warranty if you still have one. If it turns out nothing fixes it, I would restock it though with this concern. They may ***** if they can see it was flashed, if it was bricked it would be a different story.
I used a post on here to go from HC to ICS. Basically It was rolling the HC back first to get the update to push from Acer. I tried to find the post but am having a hard time finding it, and my dumb ass didn't subscribe to it.
This was about in April of this year.
Now when I try to do a hard reset (power + vol down + switch lock) it goes to a black screen with USB bootloader info in the top right corner (near the vol switch). I don't have it with me so I cant tell you right now exactly what it says.
I would have posted sooner, but didn't get emails that there were responses.
Thanks for everyone trying to help. I will try to get back on this this afternoon.

I take it you did the process of going back to HC already and now you can't boot? If its saying its boot loader info in the right corner then its certainly not an ICS boot loader, thats in the upper left corner. It also says ICS in it. Let us know what its actually saying when you boot and we can go from there.

I will. I also turned on the email instant notification that I know that there are responses. Can't believe that I didn't do that before.
OK top left of the screen where the volume button reads:
Bootloader v0.03.13-ics: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
This time I was able to do the erase user data. Got to the Welcome screen with the language and Country. Cant get the screen to respond.I am guessing at this point that the screen is shot and needs to be replaced (under warranty) however I need to make sure that this is set to Factory specs so that I don't have to worry about voiding the warranty.

It sounds stock to me. From what you have said, I think all you did was revert back to a HC version to get the ICS update ( which some did bck when ics came out if their version wasnt getting the update). If you did this a few months ago, you are just running a stock ICS version.
If that is the case is something missing from the ROM that I cannot get it to reconfigure everything automatically? I thought that it should go directly to the recovery information and reflash the entire tablet (may have the terminology screwed up).

If your talking about Google's sync. If you have it turned on and sync'ed prior to a factory reset, and turned on after. It will sync some stuff, it may restore your desktop wallpaper, contacts, WiFi info and some apps. But it will not restore it perfectly. Either way if your screen is still messed up, I think your OK to warranty it. IMO. Verified if your bootloader is locked, and under settings > about tablet, you are running ICS version 4.0.3 with a stock Acer build number.
I cant get there though. The screen will not respobd to input. I was going to try a bt mouse and keyboard but not having screen inputs puts a damper on that.
And about reconfiguring I was refering to the os and stock software not yhe stuff from play.

Ah I think you mean a factory reset. It doesn't flash anything, it erases /cache and /data (not /data/media but that's another story) and let's the system purge any settings apps or data causing issues.
The system itself is left untouched, if its rooted it stays rooted, if something is corrupted or damaged or missing, it stays that way through a reset.
To replace the system itself you'll need to attempt to flash a stock ROM zip named update.zip on the root of your external SD card and powering on holding the volume - key closest to the lock switch.

Hi, did You try to connect your phone at your computer? If works then try to make a factory reset. If not go to your phone provider and reclaim your warranty, if your phone don't have warranty try to unlock your bootloader and root your phone with jmz method (look in the original developer section) then install the recovery and flash with the totem custon firmware, just remember to S-OFF or the kernel will not install correctly and you will experiment wifi and signal issues.

Did you do anything with your phone, like flashing a ROM or kernal ? has the touchscreen worked before and now just suddenly stopped or has it always been like this? if you cannot do anything with it, a factory reset would be my best bet. if even that does not work, and you didnt flash anything custom, then i would bring it back to where you got it and ask for a refund.
IF you have a custom recovery installed, you can do a reset from there. if not -- use ADB.
If you dont have ADB set up on your computer, google a guide for how to do it. Then you can hook up your phone to your computer, and do the command for doing a facotry reset. (have to do it this way because you cannot use the touchscreen.)
ADB command for wiping data( if you need it):
adb shell
recovery --wipe_data

[Q] N7100: no mobile network, no imei, no baseband

hi guys.
i had an accident with my bike on sunday and my phone seems to be f*cked since then. but let me explain:
well i had an accident and somehow fell on my phone, now there is bump in the plastic backcover and in the sd card slot underneath. it is quite deep, maybe 1.5mm. soon after that i realised that my phone is no longer connecting to mobile networks, the baseband is unknown, just like the imei. also the power/lockscreen button isn't working anymore as long as the phone is turned on (it works to turn it on or to access recovery/download mode. i was running jellybam 9.2.0 for weeks without any problem.
so after that i got home i first did a fullwipe and a reinstall of jellybam -> still same problem.
then i tried to enter download mode. i got to the "press volume up to continue, press volume down to restart"-screen and i pressed volume up -> nothing happend
so i went into cwm -> advanced (i think) -> restart bootloader. so now i was in download mode (the proper download mode)
at this point i thought it was a pure hardware problem because my wifi appeared to be not working too. i also thought that i might be able to claim warranty so i installed the N7100XXDMB2 firmware from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32273406&postcount=5
my wifi seems to be working now so i thought that i could just restore my EFS backup and it might all be fine again (except the bump) but i would have to root my phone to be able to do that and like mentioned before the download mode only works to a certian very useless point.
also i now have the stock recovery, which i can enter, but i can't select anything in there because my power button won't work.
to put it all in a nutshell: i have unknown baseband, unknown imei, a power button that stops working as soon as the device is turned on and also doesn't work in stock recovery, a volume up button that doesn't want me to access the download mode, an EFS backup which i'm unable to restore, no clue if it is a hardware or software problem and severe depression.
the attached picture shows where the bump is. it is quite deep, like mentioned before. made the sd slot completly unuseable.
i'm desperate, please help.
also: i was using the phone (making calls, internet) a few minutes before the bike accident
Well, if you're back to stock and you can claim warranty, then that's the best option.

Power Button cuts device off on 1 press

Really trying to figure this out. Every time i Press the Power Button my phone immediately shuts off instead of going to the option to reboot or screenshot. It was fine earlier but now I cant use the shortcut to reboot into recovery or just reboot the phone + the lockscreen does not show up after 3 or 4 min after the phone is off (and yes the phone isn't set to go off in 10 min, just 1) can somebody please help or point me to a thread that shows me what the deal is? Thank you so much!

ROM/kernel you are running. Also pressing the power button IMMEDIATELY shuts the phone, keeping the power button pressed brings up the reboot menu.
Jedix20 Rom and the Stock kernel it came with. When I press the power button and the screen turns off. When I press it again it doesnt go to the lockscreen. And if I hold it just for 2 seconds instead of the pop up option to reboot the phone it just shuts the phone off. Normally it takes like 4-5 seconds after I hold it for it to completly power off. Now it doesnt do it anymore. I tried reverting back to the Stock GB through odin and it still doesnt work. I thought it was perhaps something wrong with the system files so I tried factory resetting JediX20. No good. I booted into download mode and installed stock through odin. No good. And I Installed Jedix20 back again. I had a factory test message with some box pop up on the screen and stayed primaraly on the home screen.. it looked like a debug mode. I downloaded Titanium and deleted those files and the factory mode with the phone information vanished. Im just trying to figure out why wont the lockscreen appear anymore or the options to boot to recovery, reboot, airplane mode ext. Wont appear.

It may be a hardware issue, as it is also happening on the stock rom. IMHO I would take it back to stock (remember to reset the flash count) and take it your carrier. Keep in mind that your phone has a 1 year warranty since the day it was delivered to the first customer.
Not really a possibility. I bought this outright and its on straight talk. Ive flashed pac 4.3 and it works like a charm. It only happens on touchwiz but why? I have no clue. It was fine untill a couple days ago. I know that since it did work on an aosp based rom that the problem lies somewhere in the touchwiz roms files.

Phone is in factory mode. Either your efs is corrupted or the phone has detected a crash somewhere else. Just google factory mode to see how to get out of it..usually by if you backed up your efs you could restore them and reboot

I flashed back to pacman 4.3 for a few days and it worked fine....then I reflashed jedix20 after 2 days and it was back to normal. Weird though. Im sure it was the efs thing you mentioned though

[Q] Phone stuck in bootloop :/

Well, i wanted to restore my backed up rom, i went to twrp and restored the rom without wiping data, dalvik cache ect. it went to boot loop saying " setup wizard stopped " after reaching lockscreen and went booting again.. then i found a way to go to recovery again, i wiped the cache and stuff and restored the same back up and the same problem now no change, now i cant go inside custom recovery whatever i try.. :/ . will i be able to go to recovery after the battery is drained?
or u know a method to go inside recovery?
Have you tried holding the volume down button down when the screen goes blank? This will get you into the bootloader. You can also hold power and volume up and when the screen goes blank hold volume down only.

How long did you hold it for? You have to hold the buttons for a good ten seconds or so. You're saying the screen never goes black for a few seconds between loops?

thank u, it worked but now when i flash there is no on screen buttons and notifications at all and im stuck with 1 rom :/
the computer does not recognize my device as "on" itself!!
what to do plz help
Connect SD card reader to your computer and use it to put a ROM on removable SD. Insert the SD into the phone, and flash the ROM from recovery.
I also just came over this problem,
I've been using TWRP on all my phones for years and constantly flashing/restoring various roms.
Did I do something wrong?
I backed up using the default options and restored the same way as I always do but I had the same issue.

Make sure you firmware corresponds to the nandroid you are trying to restore.
But if they do match (correct firmware for the ROM being restored) it might just be a random thing. TWRP on this (and other recent devices like my Sammy Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4) seems a little less reliable than in the past. As long as your TWRP version is up to date, there isn't much else you can do. Except maybe keep a few different nandroids (probably on your computer, since they take so much space) in case the most recent one doesn't restore correctly.
Thanks for the reply. I also tried installing the exact same ROM again and set it up, then tried to restore but still the same problem. Thanks anyway I'll maybe try another backup and delete the old one. Thanks again
If you're restoring a ROM through the TWRP restore function make sure you always wipe always wipe data and system before restoring unless you're only restoring data or just system itself. Then only wipe that certain parition. But never restore a backup of another ROM base onto a different base without installing the ROM you are restoring first. That will cause a lot of issues, constant FC, and bootloop.
