[Q] Help! My HTC One VX is messed up! - HTC One VX

My phone turns on but goes to a blank home screen once off the at&t screen. I cant use the blank home screen, because the touchscreen doesn't work for some reason, and when I press the sleep button, it sleeps but when I press it again, it doesn't go to the lock screen. What do I do?:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Hi, did You try to connect your phone at your computer? If works then try to make a factory reset. If not go to your phone provider and reclaim your warranty, if your phone don't have warranty try to unlock your bootloader and root your phone with jmz method (look in the original developer section) then install the recovery and flash with the totem custon firmware, just remember to S-OFF or the kernel will not install correctly and you will experiment wifi and signal issues.

Did you do anything with your phone, like flashing a ROM or kernal ? has the touchscreen worked before and now just suddenly stopped or has it always been like this? if you cannot do anything with it, a factory reset would be my best bet. if even that does not work, and you didnt flash anything custom, then i would bring it back to where you got it and ask for a refund.
IF you have a custom recovery installed, you can do a reset from there. if not -- use ADB.
If you dont have ADB set up on your computer, google a guide for how to do it. Then you can hook up your phone to your computer, and do the command for doing a facotry reset. (have to do it this way because you cannot use the touchscreen.)
ADB command for wiping data( if you need it):
adb shell
recovery --wipe_data

[Q] Help! power button fail

I recently installed CM7-01192011 nightly and everything was going fine but I wake up today and take my phone off of the charger and my power button no longer does anything. I wanna try and reflash a past recovery to see if that will fix it but I cant even get into recovery without the top button. I tried using rom manager also that didnt work. Anybody have any ideas on what I can do to fix this? any help would be great thanks in advance. Oh also when I remove battery and reinsert the phone auto turns on.
the auto-turn-on when the battery is reinserted is normal, however, that is odd about the button not working. does the screen turn on or off when you push it while it's on the charger?? if you the tools loaded on your computer, you could do 'adb reboot recovery' at a command prompt
If the phone is off (if you can manage to turn it off) does the power button work? Say, if you go into clockwork rom manager, and reboot into recovery from there, or go into terminal emulator and type
Code:
$ su
#reboot recovery
Does the power button do anything in recovery? It should make the screen go blank.
Power button does nothing and ya I tried that using terminal still wont get into recovery gets to the screen where you have to hold volume up and hit the power button and no I cant turn phone off also starting this morning my touch screen stopped working. Im still under warranty but cant figure out how to get the darn thing back to stock since I cant get into recovery
Install ROM MANAGER and click "Reoot to recovery"
lol
let me know if this works
You can always try this way
MU HA HA HA

If something goes wrong, dont blame me.. Ive never tried this lol
Hope it helps you
ya rom manager was the first thing I tried didnt work also tried sdk also didnt work. All methods get to the screen where you need to push power and volume up. I was gonna try the key remapper but my touch panel failed and I have no way to navigate on the phone to open the app.
Ok I got it back to stock by using the ESPRIMG. Phone still dosnt work but at least its stock now. Tmobile is sending me a new phone should be here in a few days. Thanks for all the help attempts.
That sucks bro

[Q] Alternative methods of accessing Recovery?

My Xperia Play has had a few problems out of the box, mainly that when I switch it on there is no boot animation, just a black screen. This means I can't access Recovery through the normal method of holding down on the volume or the back button etc. I've installed CWM through the CWM Xperia installer so I know it's there. I also ran the Auto-Magic Nandroid through that app, which caused my screen to go black (as it does whenever I choose to reboot through an app). When I looked on my SD card though there is now a Nandroid folder, so it's probable that the device does go into Recovery; I just can't see it.
So my question is this; is there any other way of getting my phone into Recovery so I can install some sweet, delicious custom ROMs? Maybe through ADB or similar? Or is it possible to install a ROM via another method?
Any help at all would be appreciated!!
If it wasn't working right right out of the box, I would have sent it back.
Can't you boot into recovery from the CWM-installer app?

Sadly that wasn't an option, it was the only one they had and I wasn't about to send it back for another type of phone, I've wanted this thing for ages
I've just clicked that option in the app and it's just rebooted the phone normally.

Turn on the phone, and when you see the notification light turn blue, press volume down for the locked bootloader cwm, or the back button for the one in DooMKernel.
Sent from a Galaxy far, far away
I've not yet tried installing DooMKernel, I'm worried that if I can't get into the normal recovery in won't be able to get into that one, then I'll be stuck with a boot looping phone.
Pressing down on volume on the blue led comes on doesn't seem to do much, simply stops the boot process from completing fully. I left the phone for 5 mins and got nothing. Pressing the power button again started the boot process again and it loaded up normally (minus any animations of ciurse)
It seems like stuff is happening, but I just can't see it. I doubt this is a hardware fault as the screen works perfectly all other times, so what the heck could it be!?
The recovery in DooMKernel is already built in, so it's different than using the Xperia CWM installer. By the way, the back button will get you into DooMKernel's recovery.
I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks for the advice guys!

Soft brick, but can't access recovery mode

Hey there, so my phone randomly decided to stop working today.
Whenever I put the battery in the phone or plug in the charger, the Samsung screen loads then nothing. This all happens without me pushing the power button btw. Then the power button doesn't work, nor can I access recovery.
Like I mentioned, this all happened very suddenly and unexpectedly. I haven't flashed a rom in awhile so I'm not sure what caused the problem. One tidbit worth mentioning is that my phone would randomly reboot on the rom I've been using, but it wouldn't happen too often.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not exactly sure what I should do in this situation. Thanks for reading.

try to be quicker to access recovery, power off the phone. then press the power, vol up, and home then AS SOON as you see the blue text on the left top side of the samsung logo screen let go of the buttons, it should boot into recovery then wipe data factory reset and reboot.

flash this recovery attached with odin by booting into download mode via power vol down and home, wipe data factory reset and reboot

http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390275921635705049 (odin)
place in pda with only f. reset time and auto reboot checked. it SHOULD only take about 10 seconds to flash. as soon as your phone reboots hold the recovery combo and it should go to it
I can't really access download mode either.
I'll get to the screen that asks if I want to go into download mode, then push the up on the volume rocker, get to the next screen, but then it goes black about a second later.
Thanks for all the help so far though.

kinda odd. never had that happen before. ,maybe you could try to reflash the download mode into your phone using this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125(make sure you use a debrick.img http://d-h.st/iEy for att not sprint BTW)
or use a jig. since your phone can still access the boot interface.

Have you done this and then connected the USB to see if ODIN will recognize the phone? it's entirely possible that you are getting into download mode, but just can't see it..
It's certainly worth a try.

Stock + Root - Lenovo A390T

TLDR: Need a stock image, root and custom recovery for the Lenovo A390T
Hi All,
So my Chinese friend brought me her mothers phone to try and fix. As far as I can gather, she tried to update, got impatient and rebooted it. It just permanently hangs on an "Updating..." screen. First thing I tried was getting into fastboot, I managed to get in and it said "Fastboot Mode" in the top left corner. My PC doesn't recognise the phone as connected (even though if I turn it on normally it does recognise ADB - ruling out any issues with drivers or my hardware I think?)
I also tried to boot into recovery. I get the little droid with the exclamation mark, but that's it. If I press the power button I see the menu for maybe a second as it thinks I have clicked on the first option (Reboot) - the up and down buttons do nothing (pressing or holding) so literally the only button I can press is power, which just reboots the damn thing.
The good news is I did manage to boot Android into safe mode, then tried a factory reset from there. It booted back up without a home screen app but everything else seemed okay. I could get into settings from the notification menu by pulling the top bar down, but otherwise it was just black with a top bar.
I downloaded an APK for Nova and installed that through ADB, and we're golden on the actual phone working again. What I would like to do is install a custom recovery in case it ever happens again, so I can easily recover the OS - and get a stock image. I did find this for root, but it doesn't seem to work (Framaroot says there are no exploits available) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50774585&postcount=7
So I need to root, install a custom recovery, and then get a clean stock image back on the device, any ideas?

[Q] Welcome screen and Lock screen missing after flashing STOCK ROM

Hey! Need some help if possible. I was messing around with my Captivate Glide. Tried to install some other ROM's but all of them made the phone lost the baseband and IMEI (EFS). I tried restoring the EFS using EFS Pro Tool, but my phone is not being recognized while on CM 11. I decided just to flash back to stock, using the I927UCLJ3_I927ATTLJ3_ATT (which was the only ROM that was showing up the IMEI and got connectivity).
Something that's been bugging me is that after doing all this, the phone boots normally, but there was no welcome screen, it just jumped straight to the main menu without asking for the google account. On top of that, the power button no longer shows the options it did before (reboot, power off). With one press it powers off the screen. If I press it for 2 seconds the phone turns off. There's no even a lock screen on my phone. I've been unable to set lock screen security options. Any options that I select are useless. They do show up under settings, but they don't do anything.
I've been trying everything to get this options back, but I'm not sure how to. I've already flashed my phone to stock, tried with other ROMS, using the same I927ATTLJ3 as reference (since it's the only one that shows the IMEI for me) but nothing. It was showing on CM11 though, all power options where working, as well as the lock screen options. I'm desperate now.
Any help on this?

Have you factory reset your phone? That described things can happen especially when switching between ROMs
