Soft Bricked Oneplus 3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello developers,
I need solution for soft brick of my oneplus 3. My device's bootloader has unlocked and rooted. I've already using CM13.0 rom in my mobile.
* I tried to install CM14.1 rom NIGHTLY version along with the appropriate Gapps file (aroma).
* After the installation of the rom, my TWRP recovery has been corrupted so that I couldn't reboot and enter into the recovery mode.
* The NIGHTLY version had many bugs more than I expected so that I tried to make a FACTORY DATA RESET through (setting>backup & reset>factory data reset)
* Now, my system partition is also corrupted so that I cannot even reboot into system as well as recovery mode.
* My phone's bootloader display is waking up and I can able to charge it.
* My device also doesn't support USB OTG so that I cannot flash the twrp recovery.
Can anybody give me a solution for this problem. PLEASE HELP!

I presume you have access to fastboot? You can try flashing the modified twrp (required for official CM14.1 nightlies) http://forum.xda-developers.com/devd...21065&task=get
If that doesn't work, check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3405700 and follow Method 2.

I had to solve same problem the other day. I unlocked, flashed stock recovery from 3.2.8 then adb sideload 3.2.8, locked bootloader, reboot and let it update to Nougat, between all steps full resets.

2.) Flash stock oxygen recovery though fastboot or in twrp.
3.) Boot to stock recovery, sideload Official 4.0 ota via adb.
4.) Reboot and dont set up device ( not necessary ) enable developer settings and usb debugging.
5.) Flash TWRP .23 NOT .28 (.28 is bugged with decryption and f2fs errors)
6.) Boot to twrp, wipe /data to f2fs and /system and /cache to ext4.
7.) As wiping everything, copy any custom oxygen os build and supesu 2.79
8.) Flash any custom oxygen os build ( all these 3 builds flashes supersu itself, so no need to flash supersu, buy keep it for further later use.)
9.) Reboot, Setup and copy all ur stuff.
This method will surely get u a Rooted, decrypted, f2fs /data partition Oxygen Os 4.0.
For Stock/Twrp Recovery, Encrypted/Decrytped, Locked/Unlocked Bootloader, Unrooted Users (Those who dont want to root or decyrpt) -
1.) Backup is necessary as internal storage will be wiped, its a one time process as for now every Oneplus update will be f2fs /data compatible.
2.) ADB sideload 4.0 ota.
3.) Reboot and dont set up device ( not necessary )
4.) Go to backup and reset in settings, do a factory reset with internal storage ( This will wipe everything, BACKUP NEEDED )
5.) Let the process complete and check /data partition via DiskInfo app.
6.) If it isnt, do a factory reset again via stock recovery.
7.) If nothing helps, follow first method.
I cant guarantee this will work, but many users have reported this as working.
I think this will be sufficient
Edit : New recovery by eng.stk - https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22429&task=get
supports f2fs decryption.

Will this method continue working if I install a custom rom after? Also, what do u mean by the new recovery supports f2fs decryption? Does it mean that your method doesn't or that we don't have to do these steps?

Hi,
to be synthetic:
From TWRP recovery, change filesystem to Ext4 for both Data and Cache, then full wipe everything (System too);
Go back to OxygenOS v3.2.8;
Be sure to replace TWRP with Stock Recovery (download from 3.2.8 official thread);
Lock bootloader (both from Developer Options and Fastboot);
Sideload via recovery OxygenOS v4.0;
Consider to factory reset for a clean installation.

Everything works as in the original version + otg and mtp.

I installed this recovery and everything is ok except when trying to restore modem
I backed up my system to install official firmware to test some stuff
Then i reinstalled the recovery and tried to restore my backup but it was failing when restoring the modem
I deselected the modem and restored everything else and all ok
Same here. Failing restoring the modem.
The latest official Version doesn't work either (crash):
twrp-3.2.1-0-viennaltexx
The latest working version for my p905 is:
twrp-3.0.2-0-viennaltexx

Successfully TWRP flash thru Odin, observe the progress in Odin left bottom corner and prepare for this; "directly" when flash finished "force recovery start" (volume up home and startbutton until recovery starts)
Not fast enough" stock recovery autorestore ! Doitagain.
About bootloader (4.4.2 KK)
Hi,
I've just got a SM-P905 on 4.4.2 kitkat (stock). I'd like to flash one of your ROM (probably the LOS 17.1) and this recovery first.
Should I just flash it through Odin or do I need to unlock the bootloader? In that case, could you please drive me to a tutorial? I've searched a lot on this forum on howto unlock the SM-P905 bootloader (or just if it comes -the 4.4.2 version at least- with an unlocked one already) but I haven't found anything on it.
Thanks in advance

Flash TWRP only, through Odin.
Then flash ROM, GApps, and optional Magisk, through TWRP.
Magisk needed for root-apps, or to hide root.
(flash bootloader and modem not needed, only sometime later, if your modem are to old, and SIM not working)

Done a couple of days after my post. Forgot to report. Then flashed LOS 17, gapps (pico) and Magisk. Everything's ok.
Thanks for your answer.
Anyway, now it can be said that the P905 with stock 4.4.2 KK has the bootloader unlocked.

Oneplus 5T remotedly wiped -- now only with TWRP and no ROM

I tought of having lost my phone so I did a remote wipe through google my devices... the phone was rooted with TWRP recovery.
After the remote wipe now has no rom... at boot first shows the oem unlock warning, then TWRP starts, and that's it... since the remote wipe deleted everything including storage I can't restore a backup.
I downloaded the latest signed flashable zip from here, copied it on a USB stick, and connected it to the OP5T. Then from TWRP mounted the USB Storage, and did a rom install from it. Problem is... nothing changed. Still at boot it return in TWRP instead of booting the OS :crying:
Any idea how to solve this?

Did that already -- didn't succeed.
In the end I tollowed this guide -- took a couple of hours just because I could't see the "unknown device" when connecting it in Qualcomm download mode. Turns out for some reason I already had the driver installed on my pc and didn't need to install anything.
In TWRP go to wipe, then format data and type in yes. Then download, transfer and flash dm-verity zip for the oneplus 5 (it's the same for both phones). Then reboot recovery and try installing the rom again.
This unbrick tool is your best friend
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unbricking-tool-confirmation-t3733012
Just flash latest firmware zip then flash a custom rom lol. With twrp, theres always a way around a soft brick.
I had this problem too. Everytime when i installed the rom and rebooted the phone, there was a message no os installed. This did it work.
1- wipe everything. Then use format data (not wipe).
2- install the rom.
3- select reboot from receovery menu and select reboot to recovery.
4- install the rom again.
5- reboot the device normally.
Hope this will help.

[AOSiP, Android 9] Not booting after OTA on encrypted device

I hope that someone here can help me rescue to rescue my data.
I was on the AOSiP build from september and than decided to encrypt my device. That worked perfectly. Now I wanted to install the latest update. The internal updater didn't work (just booted into TWRP recovery without further action, so I moved the update file to microsd and than updated manually by flashing the zip file via TWRP). Prior to the whole action, I updated TWRP through the app to the latest version.
Now my phone doesn't boot anymore, it is stuck in the AOSiP boot animation. Reverting to a previous TWRP version (3.2.3.2) didn't help, also flashing the september build again didn't help.
In TWRP I was unable to decrypt data, because TWRP keeps asking me for a password (but I don't remember putting a password in the first place). Therefor I switched from TWRP to OrangeFox recovery. Here decryption worked, put still after flashing the phone doesn't boot.
Anyone that has further ideas how to fix this without loosing all my data? Any help appreciated!

No, but as my system was running before without problems I don't expect the kernel to be the problem .. Or why would that make sense?
SOLVED: I noticed that flashing the update manually didn't automatically flash Gapps right afterwards. So flashing the Gapps helped and the phone now boots normally!

Any ROM won't boot

Hello,
I've got a Joyeuse and I am stuck at flashing any kind of ROM. I'm on MIUI 12.0.1.0.QJZEUXM (global) and have tried the following steps:
* fastboot flash recovery TWRP
* boot into TWRP
* format all partitions
* adb push Havoc-OS-v4.6-20210619-joyeuse-Official.zip (or other ROMs like DerpFest-11-Official-Beta-miatoll-20210628-1634.zip, etc.)
* reboot system
After that the phone always and over and over again shows the title screen from Xiaomi and then reboots and does that again.
I also tried flashing fw_joyeuse_miui_JOYEUSEEEAGlobal_V12.0.1.0.RJZEUXM_7e06178ca4_11.0.zip or fw_curtana_miui_CURTANAEEAGlobal_V12.0.2.0.RJWEUXM_3c6c129fe8_11.0.zip but same happens. No difference.
Also tried with 4.14.237-Yuki-Kernel-Redmi-Note-9s-Pro-AOSP-R-2021-06-17.zip but no help.
Also flashed stock MIUI back and tried TWRP without wiping any partition.
Is there anything I have to do before flashing a custom ROM and booting to it?
After flashing the ROM did you format the data?
try another recovery, use orangefox 11 stable
if you moving from MIUI:
you should format data then reboot recovery
flash any joyeuse or miatoll rom. don't flash curtana only rom. it will hard brick your device (since you are at joyeuse forum, i guest you have joyeuse, not curtana)
