Oneplus 5T remotedly wiped -- now only with TWRP and no ROM - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

I tought of having lost my phone so I did a remote wipe through google my devices... the phone was rooted with TWRP recovery.
After the remote wipe now has no rom... at boot first shows the oem unlock warning, then TWRP starts, and that's it... since the remote wipe deleted everything including storage I can't restore a backup.
I downloaded the latest signed flashable zip from here, copied it on a USB stick, and connected it to the OP5T. Then from TWRP mounted the USB Storage, and did a rom install from it. Problem is... nothing changed. Still at boot it return in TWRP instead of booting the OS :crying:
Any idea how to solve this?

Did that already -- didn't succeed.
In the end I tollowed this guide -- took a couple of hours just because I could't see the "unknown device" when connecting it in Qualcomm download mode. Turns out for some reason I already had the driver installed on my pc and didn't need to install anything.

In TWRP go to wipe, then format data and type in yes. Then download, transfer and flash dm-verity zip for the oneplus 5 (it's the same for both phones). Then reboot recovery and try installing the rom again.

This unbrick tool is your best friend
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unbricking-tool-confirmation-t3733012

Just flash latest firmware zip then flash a custom rom lol. With twrp, theres always a way around a soft brick.

I had this problem too. Everytime when i installed the rom and rebooted the phone, there was a message no os installed. This did it work.
1- wipe everything. Then use format data (not wipe).
2- install the rom.
3- select reboot from receovery menu and select reboot to recovery.
4- install the rom again.
5- reboot the device normally.
Hope this will help.

I realized the link I meant to post in my reply above didn't come across.
I did solve the problem with this guide:

Help Fixing issue tab pro 8.4

Hello, I decided to root my device using Odin. I followed steps from a video and successfully rooted and installed twrp with flashify. When I booted to twrp I did a swipe without backup. I proceeded to install CM11 nightly with the gapps zip. Everything went well during installation and the device rebooted. I saw the cm mod logo upon reboot but I get error setup wizard failed after boot. I cant access the tablet or anything. All I see is the blue CM wallpaper and no apps. Upon further investigation, it turns out I flashed the wrong gapps zip? I tried rebooting to twrp recovery to reflash gapps. But problem is that I cant access twrp recovery only the stock recovery. It gives me limited options...update from adb, update from external, wipe data, wipe cache... Is there anyway to fix this? I installed adb and fastboot but when I install rom using adb sideload, i get signature failures all the time. I tried fastboot but apparently there is only download mode (which i used when rooting with odin). My device isnt recognized with fastboot devices command only adb devices. Can anyone help? I am new to this stuff.
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
Try to wipe cache, then flash TWRP again by Odin.
If you can get TWRP up and running, you should be able to do the default wipe (cache, Dalvik, and user data) and flash CM11 and gapps again.
I think I had the same issue with CM11 not booting since I flashed the wrong gapps. But flash the right gapps, and you should be ok.

OnePlus 3 OxygenOS 4.0.1 --- rooting

Hi all,
after I had a full crash while I was trying to update 4.0.0 -> 4.0.1 I now installed all from the scratch.
I now try to get root for it. I installed TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-1.28-oneplus3.img) ... opening it it asks me to bring in a PIN. every PIN I enter is wrong. If I choose cancel I am in. But System is accessable.
Anybody can post a real HowTo for getting root (SuperSU) in OxygenOS 4.0.1
Thanks in advance
After you flash the rom, flash SuperSU immediately. Then reboot to recovery, NOT to system.
If the phone stuck, force reboot by pressing power& vol.- . Reflash recovery, reboot to recovery, reboot to system.

I always get this "the dm-verfiy ..." message. And after booting I have to type in the unlock PIN ... booting again ... ready to use. I think is is because TWRP

can you explain me what the purpose of rebooting into recovery after flashing supersu and not to system?
On some roms, you have to instal SuperSu, before first boot. Or you will not have root.
Some rooms will mess up recovery if youre first boot it's in system & not to recovery. You reboot, to recovery, first, to be shure that you have a working recovery.
This is how I did: upgraded to OOS 4.0.1, flashed the latest TWRP (3.0.3-0), copy & paste SuperSU to internal storage then flashed it through TWRP. Everything works fine.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to decrypt this phone because OOS 4.0.1 converts the Data partition file system to F2FS. I'm a heavy user of MultiROM, that's the reason for decrypting.

Help Getting TWRP to work

Device - oneplus 3
Secure Boot - enabled
Device State - Unlocked
recently wanted to update my rom (Resurrection Remix-N). When I boot into TWRP, I get an error 7. I was also having issue with titanium backup (keeps crashing) so I was thinking it was the ROM since I haven't updated in a while. Since I couldn't update with TWRP and error 7, I decided to switch ROM.
I did a nand backup, then proceeded to factory reset in TWRP, reboot recovery (habit of mine).
And now I was stuck with at TWRP decrypt Data because my previous pattern is not working. Gives me a "pattern failed, please try again!")
My question, is there a way to at least get my data off the device (backup to laptop and restore later)?
I can boot into fastboot. but I can't see device storage on laptop.

A method thats worked for me in the past is to use fastboot to re-install TWRP. Use TWRP 3.0.4-1 and reboot your phone to recovery.. You'll be im MTP mode so you can transfer files onto your phone for flashing.. If you get code7 in TWRP, use a different FIRMWARE+Modem version.. If you want the latest RR use 4.0.3.. Your data should be safe..

I had that once when i messed about with f2fs.. Only way i found was to flash stock ROM and recovery, reboot and fastboot TWRP again.. Now my laptop could see my phone and i could start from scratch again.. I'm sure there is a better way but this worked for me.. Sorry i cant be of more help
Flash all 670 img's till one works
I think error 7 is related to firmware flash 4.0.3 and then your rom of choice should be fine

I have the same issue, it asks me for a password when accessing TWRP because it couldn't decrypt. I've tried both the command above (fastboot format userdata & format data from TWRP directly) and I can access TWRP but when I restart the phone, I have boot loop on the loading screen.
If I don't use the command, and restart the phone directly (not going into TWRP first), the flashed recovery is automatically replaced with the MIUI recovery.
Anyone managed to actually boot the phone with the TWRP recovery installed with no decrypt error?
Thanks

Hi,
I didn't install xiaomi.eu afterwards neither updated the china rom. I'm using china rom (I live in China so there's some stuff on the chinese rom I can use and the updates are more swift), but it's the latest chinese miui rom with the update that came out a few days ago. I had the mi max 2 before and never had to update or re-install a rom after flashing TWRP. With the mi max 2 there were no issues after flashing TWRP in fastboot and then go to TWRP and flash super su. Do you reckon if I flash TWRP then flash the china rom through TWRP it won't give a boot loop (won't it re-write the TWRP bootloader with the miui one?)? If so, should I run the erase data command from fastboot or erase the data partition on TWRP recovery?
There's also a zip file to be installed in TWRP to avoid boot loop (can't recall the name right now), but didn't work either.
If someone has any ideas I'm willing to try on my end to figure this out
Thanks

Flashed TWRP again, did a userdata format from fastboot, then went to the recovery, deleted dalvik/cache and re-installed China ROM... Still stuck on boot loop.
same for me......... please help
Come on! Guys!
It is so simple to bypass this Internal Storage(0MB) problem on official China rom (Stable and Beta) of TWRP!
DO NOT use the "Install" option in TWRP to install Magisk.zip/Superusr.zip as TWRP cannot read your Internal Storage at all!
Just activate the adb sideload in TWRP and use the adb sideload command on your PC to push the magisk.zip/Superusr.zip or any zippies into your internal storage especially so if you are rooting the official China rom!
After that. Reboot to system from TWRP and Bingo! Your official China rom/MIUI pops up nicely in no time! :fingers-crossed:
...and the best part of it. You don't need to format data at all! All your data remained intact!!!
I'm running the official China rom 9.6.11.0 with Magisk 16.0 now! All work perfectly including the ever-most-impoartant's Titanium backup! :fingers-crossed::victory:

I will not spoon feed. Go Google on how to use adb sideload with twrp.
In that way, you learn.

kelvintisw, thank you so much! I resolve this problem with bootloop using ADB Sideload on MIUI Global)

Encyption unsuccessful

I have a big problem with the phone, when I tried to change the system to lineageos from stock (oxygenos), I got an error. So I tried to install oxygenos from the zip archive I downloaded from the oneplus forum. The installation was successful but the phone looped over. Before the changes, I did a full system backup, but the twrp was replaced with stock recovery and I can not install twrp from the fastboot level. When I want to start the phone, I only have the ENCYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL message.

You might have to clear the internal storage , not sure though .
You might try flashing the twrp from bootloader. And clear internal storage and flash OOS again from scratch
however i would prefer to keep the phone content i have many important files there. I tried to install twrp but after restarting I still have stock recovery. I tried some applications listed on the forum but to no avail.

Why don't you try Msm tool or unbrick tool .
But those to wipe the phone though.
When you change from encryption device to decryption device , you have to clean flash .
So I suspect this might be an encryption issue, so might clean storage .
Don't know . Wait for someone else for an input .
So there is no way to save the data? I remind you that I have a system backup on my phone.

I think you need to flash the no Verity zip after you flash twrp to stop the stock recovery from reinstating itself after you reboot. Then you should be able to just boot into twrp and restore your backup.
