bad Akku-management?
Hello,
i use the armor since two days an its fine.
but in every night the phone shut down by itself.
in the first night the akku has 56% ind the second night 32%... why it power down?
michael
Hi,
I have seen the same symptoms with battery drain over night. I believe this is because of unneeded display wakeups or permanent data traffic "standby". Not sure. I was really disappointed at first when leaving the phone on with about 40% battery power to find it completely empty in the morning.
For me it works okay now: I have installed "ScreenWakeUp" and Next Locker. Not sure why this improves battery life but at least it does.
The ultimate solution would be to have Cyanogenmod installed or at least root access to be able to install traffic management apps. This would enable to switch down to 2G when a working WiFi connection is found (and back to 4G when not), etc. to save even more battery.
In general, the phone is nice and cool, fast and responsive, good display.
What bothers me is:
- the camera (but I expected that however, the usual painpoint with China Phones...)
- the limited lockscreen features
- the worst launcher (featurewise) I've seen in years. That thing is capable of almost nothing except setting a background image
- the need to have a headphone extension cord (luckily, the phone comes with that)
- the need to have a "special" USB charging cable (so that the micro-USB plug is slim/long enough to fit)
I can't work around the hardware limitations. So I am really eager to get root access some day... or maybe a custom ROM, ideally CM-based to overcome the software limitations at least.
Cheers, Thomas

have you tried to do some charging cycles 20-100 in power off state?
It could help..

Rooting?
Hi Armor community, does someone know if the phone can be rooted using the MTK Droid Tools? I mean not "in theory" but in real life... . Has someone tried that and can confirm this?
Before you ask, yes: I tried to root mine, but the tools seem to not work correctly in my windows vm on linux. And I don't have a native windoze machine at hand right now. Was wondering if someone could confirm that it works ...or confirm that it won't work at least.

is necessary to have stock rom from ulefone.. and after we will be able to build a TWRP to use for backup and root..
i tried KingoRoot (rooted my Cubot S500) but no root for Armor.
the phone is clean and works fine... i dont need root necessarily.
But another question: Is it possible to configure the hardware-Home-button for screen-off?
Actually we can use it as screen-on and (whren using the phone) for the home-screen. whren in home-screen and click another one and the screen will go off... thats would be nice.
Michael
Received a new Armor yesterday, and turned it on to find the display is badly garbled. Any suggestions? Purchased from Gearbest which is shut down for the Chinese New Year at the moment, so no support there until Feb 2, probably.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMCYvcMtKi4
**Update: Gave it a little "percussive maintenance" on my desk; gentle love tap of the bottom back of the phone against the desk and POOF - screen is clear. For now. Clearly a hardware issue / loose connection.
looks like Feb. 10 we can get stock rom.. See http://forum.ulefone.com/thread-834-1-1.html
I was selected 3 Rugged smartphones. Ulefone Armor, Blackview BV6000, and AGM A8. I checked the reviews and comparison. I saw many bad customers comments regarding the quality of camera, battery life and lower display resolution, therefore I ordered AGM A8 because of 5 Inch HD display, Android 7.0, 13MP HD camera, real huge battery capacity, and cheaper in term of price.
I believe that AGM A8 is the best value for money and looking forward to receiving my unit soon.

just asking a dumb question but, did you reboot? if that didnt work, you might have to flash stock and start all over, maybe you could try a factory reset from recovery. but remember both ways you could lose your apps and data on your sd cards so maybe if you can hook up to computer and copy stuff off tab before trying anything. good luck!
I will try to flash stock firmware tonight(in IRAN).. I think it is the only remaining!:fingers-crossed:
The seller offered me a replacement my T211(16 GB)gave me a new ASUS memo pad 7 HD+ a 32GB SD card..Do I change my device to ASUS or no if my device wouldn't fix? Is it good deal?
Yes, ASUS is more up to date with the updates than Samsung
(my opinion)

Whilst the MeMo Pad HD 7 is generally better than the Tab 3 7.0, better screen & good set of loud speakers for a start, it'll probably be stuck on 4.2.2 for it's remaining life, no wide support for custom ROMs either, 1 or 2 are kicking about based on stock ROMs and a early alpha CM10.1 build was underway, not sure of it's status now, it is very unlikely to get KitKat at this stage, no word at all from ASUS, last update was backend of 2013, 4.1 to 4.2, they've probably silently dropped support.
Still I like to be proved wrong :fingers-crossed:
Anyway it's a good device, easily rooted, I own one.
a lot of games use non compliant hacks to gain performance. They can corrupt your system in some cases. I would restore the OEM firmware with ODIN or from a backup and consider not using the game.
True! On paper more features of ASUS is better than tab 3.7 but. don't forget...Samsung has something that people usually don't see!! as better body quality(even chrome band around body) or stereo mic or dual WIFI band or net speed or ....against a cheap plastic body like toy!!
I like my device so much and it is hard for me to change it! Despite CPU and IPS display of memopad 7 HD is better clearly!
Hi DigitalMD
So it is better that I flash stock firmware via ODIN?
maybe..it is the latest way for me
Hi, I ordered the 5.5 inch Doogee Dagger DG550 in white last week from Gearbest, I received it with DHL Express after just 3 days. I did not want to spend much, but still wanted a nice phone, so that's the reason I picked the DG550. For me it seemed to be a good choice and the design is very similar to the inew v3. (just bigger). I know it has been already out for some months, but the start price was too high for my taste, so I got it now because Doogee this month made a pricedrop on the DG550.
So I thought I will give you my version of a full review of the phone! So far I am very impressed with the phone and the stylish design. I especially like this model with the white frame because it makes the black screen look even nicer - and it stands more out than the all black version.

Camera & Samples

Indoor / closeup
Normal outdoor shots (standard auto settings)
Root
Root the ROM (works also for Kitkat) with RootGenius http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
Memory & RAM
The phone comes 1GB RAM and 1,5GB internal, and 12,2GB storage.
It also supports micro sdcards up to 64GB.
For normal daily use this is fine, the phone runs very smooth. Only thing is that I could wish to have more than 1.5GB internal for apps, but I guess this can be hacked/changed with other EBR files.
Wifi & reception
The WiFi has a very good range, and it is really fast. Have used it a lot the last days and zero problems. The reception I would say is average and normal. Like on most MTK6592 phones.
Batterylife
The batterylife is very good on the DG550. I can use it over 1 day with normal usage.
It also support special power saving management (Power Saving, Lower Power Mode, Screen Saving Mode) so if you want to save the battery during the day, just activate this.
Antutu Benchmark 5
I get 28340 in score with 4.4 Kitkat

Cons & Pros
Good
- Clear and sharp screen, real OGS/IPS, when the screen is off it is totally black!
- Vivid screen and good viewing angles. The touch sensitivity is perfect!
- The sound from the earspeaker is in my DG550 pretty loud, I don't think it is low
- The build quality seems to be good, I have no crooked corners or something like that
- It is a bit heavy in the hand, but in the nice way, feels like quality
- Supports OTA, so you can update the phone
- Supports Power Saving management (different settings possible) and CPU power limiter
- Very fast and good GPS
- Good WiFi range with good speed
- Battery is good for 1-2 days with normal usage
- It is smooth and has stable software
- The compass works fine after you have calibrated the sensors
- Backlight in the softbuttons
Bad
- No notification LED
- Does not come with Kitkat 4.4 out of the box, but you can flash it yourself
- The backcover feels just like matt thin plastic
- Soundquality and reception is average, not bad but also not super good
- No NFC or wireless charging builtin
- Only 1GB ram, but it still runs very smooth
My verdict
The Doogee Dagger DG550 is a very stylish smartphone - especially in white. It is very cheap, and for the money you get a lot of smartphone. It is hard not to be impressed about the big sharp screen when you have it in the hand. It is smooth out of the box but of course even more with Kitkat 4.4 and has no software bugs. If you want a cheap phone and does not need things like NFC and wireless charging then the DG550 is a very good choice in my opinion. I personally give it 9/10 - I love the phone!
Very stylish simple design!

Hi s7yler,
I bought one too, but I have some issues. My phone stuck on boot and now after recovery with original rom I don't have IMEI and signal. I resolved the Imei problem but I don't have signal yet.
Other problem is some apps like Antutu do the phone restart.
Do you have a original backup and a backup made MTK Droid Tools. I sent message to Doogee support but I didn't receive answer.
Tks

Did you try 4.4 rom? Flash it with SP flash tool v5.1408.00
For imei problem you need SN Writer 2.1324.0 (google it)
Where do you live? Make sure that your carrier supports GSM 2G: 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G: WCDMA 850/2100MHz

Ok that sounds strange, are you sure it is not a hardware error? Did you buy it from new?
I would try this
1. Factory reset phone completly
2. Flash new ROM
3. Wipe all caches/dalvik/factory reset again
4. Check IMEI number and SIM card.
5. If still no signal, try change to 2G only or choose manually search for network instead of automatically
Are you sure you got the correct IMEI into the phone? and you dont need MTK engineering mode.
Just have the phone rooted, then start MTK droid tools, on the first screen (where all the info is) then hit the button IMEI/NVRAM (button is only avaiable if your rooted) and a new window will popup, here you can insert the IMEI number in both fields, and save it to the phone. After that restart phone and thats it.
Regarding Antutu, did you also try Antutu X? (Antutu 5) from the Play Store.
Original ROM (it is called 4.2.9) can be found on needrom.com - just search for DG550.

Did you try these sims on another phone.
Sometimes Mobile network itself deny registration of the sim in the network due to some issues.
This happens often when you use a super sim which is used to bypass sim lock.
It can easily be resolved by putting the sim on another phone and resister in the network manually.

Contact Doogee and check if you still have warranty and send it back, your phone is not normal. I have no issues at all with mine, works perfect, even the loudspeaker is clear and loud (something which has previously been criticized).
Maybe you have a fake version. Do you have the mark on the side of the box you can scratch? to verify that it is original Doogee product?

I don't know where you have read that. But in the Doogee Dagger DG550 treads I have been following people have had no problems with the screen. And actually the screen is really good, and the sensitivity is much better than on some other Chinese phones - I have never read about anyone having screen problems. So I don't agree with that, actually this phone is really good for the very low price. And Doogee also have supported it really good.

The DG550 screen is lovely. I did manage to get a small scrape on the screen just before my case arrived, but it is really great quality.
On the subject of phone signals, I have two SIMS in mine and can get a 3G signal with either of them. The only strange thing is that, with my Virgin SIM (my main account), t works perfectly except when I'm at home. When at home, the phone thinks that I'm roaming! (Roaming is off on my account). Yesterday I was out with a good H+ signal, got home and it switched back to roaming. I can force it to reconnect an all is well, but a bit later it thinks its roaming again! Can still use data, calls and SMS and they do not show up as roaming on my account!
No problem with my Sainsbury's SIM. This is my second Virgin SIM (the first got confused when it received my old number). Both have exhibited the same weirdness.

Some carriers use internal roaming to lower the costs, its kind of weird. But how it is. The roaming problem your talking about has probably nothing to do with the phone, but more your SIM / carrier / provider.
bugee kitkat
yesterday i upgraded my dg 550 to official kitkat and i discovered some serious bugs. First my dagger makes reboot when i plug it in for charging!! Second the charging is making too much, i plug it in 4 pm with 18% and 7 pm is 70% which is too long.
In the previous 4.2.9 the dagger was 100% in less than 2 hours!
This is for me a reason to get back to 4.2.9
Now the thing that i like is ,changing the ebr files , having 7 gb space for apps. So if i downgrade could i change also the ebr files in 4.2.9 , or it want be possible?
I also received this nice phone and I am very satisfied with it. It come with 4.4.2 android_4.4_2014/09/25, but it is not rooted. I try several diferent ways to rootit but no succes. Framaroot, RootGenius, Towelroot, Baiduroot, but nothing works. Is there any way to root it without changing original rom? I also want to install TWRP or CWM for latter work with flashing roms and to make backup . Any help, please!

Thank you for your quick answer. No luck with Iroot but I make it with Kingo root. Is too much if I ask how to install TWRP or CWM?
Hi, I'm thinking about getting the Mi Max and I'm hoping you would be able to answer some of my questions.
1. I heard there are some connectivity issues.
2. Does is have gorilla glass 3 or 4?
3. Does it bend?
4. Is the build quality good?
5. How durable is it?
Are the any more issues that are not listed on here?
Cheers,
Jeff
What exactly do you mean by "Does it bend"? Is there any phone that does that by design? How can a phone made of metal possibly bend & still work? If I'm reading this right, you need a belt pouch for this phone, if thats what you are asking. Keeping this phone in the pocket is not a great idea. Although I dint find any difficulty so far except when getting in & out of my jean pockets when inside the car.
I kept reading & hearing about these connectivity issues but never experienced it right from day one. When you get an android phone just do a factory reset, if possible twice.
Read my detailed comparison review over @ http://c.mi.com/in/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=10869&page=1&extra=#pid149561
Forget the gorilla 3/4/5 nonsense. I'd say just get it esp the 64 or 128GB Helium instead of the 32GB Hydrogen.
Its a steal for the performance & battery combo that this phone gives you. Tempered glass is not easily available atleast in India but easily procured online via ebay or aliexpress or gearbest.
The only issue on this phone is VoLTE(works only on MIUI so far) & MIUI itself regardless of whether 7, 8 or 9. So far I found RR5.7.3 to be the most stable & best performer followed by CM13-6.0.1(other than the few reboots i experienced while navigating via Maps/Waze/Here, its pretty stable). VoLTE works only on MIUI which sucks donkeys balls & has too many usability issues & bugs to be a daily driver. Its a great phone all around. I got around the VoLTE issue by using a modem which can route my calls & data via an app & happily use RR5.7.3. If I have to use VoLTE on the phone then I'll put it on sMIUI8 on my Kenzo. MIUI, while it has its good parts & moments, is too ****ty & downright irritating overall to be put on my dear Hydrogen.
P.S. I'm buying a Helium next. Its better to stock up on this phone. Such good hardware is hard to come by. Since Kenzo also has official CM support, its only a matter of time before hydrogen/helium also makes it to the official list. After that its gonna be RR or AICP all the way to never look back again.
What's the difference between helium and hydrogen?

Thanks for the reply.
OK. After a few months, I've one more gripe, with the Mi Max, is its sun light visibility which leaves a lot to be desired in bright sunlight even in winter. Ok forget the winter sunglare, even fluorescent light is causing a reflection. I dint notice it at all but after I recieved the Kenzo its become very apparent although not debilitating its hard to miss or not notice or feel the difference in visibility between the kenzo & hydrogen. I still standby my earlier post though. This is the only phone that can blast though the day with almost everything switched on including mild hotspot usage, it'll still get you though the day. Without hotspot you've to slowcharge it either through the night or fastcharge it in the morning. Thats how good this phone's battery backup is. I use navigation everytime i get into the car. So my GPS is always on while travel{navigating} except perhaps when I'm travelling by cab. So Helium is next in the list but only when they release the Global Dev version though.
With the sad demise of sMIUI, Now the only solution/option is xiaomi.eu if you want VoLTE. I want call record & autosync with cloud more than anything. VoLTE is just a bonus. So any Xiaomi phone I unlock ASAP & move to xiaomi.eu or GlobeROM(mi-globe.com) [which is based of xiaomi.eu BTW].
Hey,
We recently got hands-on with the Cubot P20 (hoping some of that Huawei goodness will rub off). It's a great budget device, you can check it out here: https://www.review-hub.co.uk/cubot-p20-review/ (main points below).
If anyone has any questions, wants me to test anything. I'll have the phone for the next 4 weeks. Just give me a shout. : )
The Good
Big, Bright & Vibrant FHD+ Display
Solid Build Quality
Smooth Performance
Excellent Battery Life
Pre-applied notch shaped screen protector
64GB’s Storage + 4GB RAM
The Could Be Better
Still using Micro-USB (Type-A)
Missing a Gyroscope sensor
No double-tap-to-wake
Average camera performance
It's a great value low end device
I got one a second back up phone and find it great.Agree the camera could be better but looks and feels good. One issue I have is that I cannot for the life of me cast to a non-chromecast(Q1 miracast) dongle on the TV?Any advice? Thanks

+1 I have the same issue.
I just bough a cubot p20, but I want to root it, but it can't be rooted, I tried with the apps I know, but nothing. I hope someone can help me
For me worked the following:
Backup all data on your phone
Unlock boot loader & flash (all data we be lost)
Switch P20 off and disconnect from PC.
Load firmware and flash tool of your P20 from cubot.net.
Load MTKRoot_v2_Cubot_P20__V14_MT6750 (contains root.img)
Unpack everything, start the flash tool and load MT6750_Android_scatter.txt from firmware.
Unselect everything (or let everything checked if you want to overwrite everything), but bootloader. replace the boot.img with root.img and press "Download".
Now connect P20. The flash will take place automatically.
Switch on.
start MTKroot v2.exe in MTKRoot_v2_Cubot_P20__V14_MT6750 and install magisk.apk
start magiskmanager
Your phone is now rooted.

Chuwi Hi Pad Helio X27
Specs:
CPU: MTK6797X Helio Deca Core
GPU: ARM Mali-T880
RAM: 3GB
Storage: 32GB (supports TF up to 128GB)
Screen: 10.1 inch OGS Screen 1920x1200
Camera: Front 5MP, Back 5MP
Battery: 7000 mAh
In the box in a nice foam packaging you can find the tablet (obviously), a charger 5V 2000mA, user's
manual in English and a pin for extracting the TF card port
The tablet has only the basic stuff so no 4G support, no NFC, no fingerprint scanner.
Design:
The tablet has a full metal body. It looks sturdy without any squeeks and cracks.
On the back there is an X shaped design that looks good and adds to the overal gaming orientation.
There are also the speakers (i can't really tell where exactly) but they are loud and clear for a tablet of
this price range.
In portrait position we find in the top the USB port, 3.5 mm jack and the TF card slot
On the right hand side from top to bottom there is the power button and the volume rocker.
Screen:
The tablet comes with a pre applied screen protector that i haven't removed yet (until i find a proper
tempered glass at least). Colors are nice although i think that the dpi of the screen makes icons and
some apps bigger than i would prefer. Viewing angles are great and visibility out in the open is adequate
for outdoor use.
I have experienced some random inputs when scrolling but hopefully there will be an update from Chuwi to solve this problem.
Software:
Out of the box it comes running Android 8.0.0 with 5 june security patch.
The feeling and actual experience is good. There is some occasional lag here and there but nothing deal breaking.
Gaming wise i tried Asphalt 9, Real Racing and Need for Speed with the same results.
Fully playable but seems to be running in low resolution (maybe because of the low DPI?)
Camera:
Nothing special here from both. Good enough for Skype calls maybe.
Battery life:
It seems to get 7-8 hours of normal use but i will test some more and come back with an update.
Other:
The device is not authorised so no Netflix on high quality
Conclusion:
A decent tablet for the price. Nice screen, loud speakers and adequate performance on daily use as well as in gaming. Battery life will get you easily a day.
There is the issue with the touch sometimes and some occasional lag here and there but nothing dramatic.
Gaming Asphalt 9

Keeping an eye on your thread, this tablet is ridiculously cheap at the mo. The only thing I have seen that's a worry is the input/touch issues which you also mention. Hopefully something that can be fixed in an update though.

In everyday use you just notice this sometimes.
But if you try to write something as I do right now from the tablet, there are some hit and miss clicks that are noticeable.
Hope this is a software issue too.
Great tablet overall for the price.
Good review freaktech. I've had my HiPad a few weeks, I completely agree with everything you said... great tablet for the price, but a few things that can hopefully be improved with s/w updates.
That being said, one thing I think would really help would be if we could get root on this thing. I'm assuming the governor is set to interactive but I think changing it to OnDemand would make the performance even better. And maybe we could also change the DPI setting?
Unfortunately I'm not sure how to start trying to root it... I don't know if this is helpful to others, but Chuwi has posted the Hi-Pad rom image, driver and flashtool:

Root and custom recovery is something I'm looking forward too.
I found a topic somewhere here on how to compile twrp for helio CPU.
I'll give it a try. But still we need root to install it am I right?
I'm reluctant to try one click root solutions.
Good to know that we can go back back to stock if something goes wrong though.
I guess flashtool instructions are the same for all mtk devices?
I've added a video playing asphalt 9 on the first post (seems to be the most popular game a the moment) sorry for my bad filming skills.
I'm not sure about the whole root/TWRP thing either, it's a chicken/egg situation for me too. I've always just followed other people's instructions on how to root and install TWRP, I've never sorted it out myself.
Since we've got the stock image available, my understanding is that trying one-click recoveries should be okay but hopefully someone with experience will chime in.
I received an OTA update today.
No changelog though.
I got it too. Too bad there's no changelog, but at least it shows they're fixing things.
Something potentially interesting I've noticed - if you run the Google "Find my device" app, it identifies the HiPad as a "Hi9 Air". I'm guessing this is because they re-used software from the Hi9 Air, but I'm wondering if it also means the HiPad could be rooted using one of the Hi9 Air root methods. Anyone with rooting experience willing to give it a shot?

What's the phantom touch issue? I haven't experienced anything I would classify as phantom touches, are you sure it's a widespread issue?

From the original post "I have experienced some random inputs when scrolling but hopefully there will be an update from Chuwi to solve this problem"
Has the os lag been fixed? Do you think this is worth purchasing over the fire hd 10
I have a question, Is their a way to get netflix In HD?

It's been a long time since i used my English skills and maybe they are a bit rusty.
The touch issue i'm experiencing is more of a hit and miss rather than a phantom touch.
For example let's say you want to type the word "chuwi" and you actually type "chui" or "cuwi".
[edit] I added a photo to be more clear. You just have to trust i'm not that bad in typing
Now for the lag part the tablet is smooth 99% of the time but here and there there is a frame drop mostly in the ui in my experience.
I'm a bit hypersensitive with that kind of stuff but i did noticed it and thought to mention that too.
It's a budget tablet after all
I use the tablet daily with no problems.

There various threads here on xda either providing an apk or requiring some skills to do it you shelf but i haven't tried any of them to comment.
I use mine daily without problems as well. Really good tablet and it'll only get better with root.
In case it helps anyone, I just came across this tutorial on downloading the latest Chuwi HiPad USB Drivers and MediaTek driver:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-latest-chuwi-hipad-usb-drivers/
I was just reading the Chuwi forums, and according to their forum correspondent "Emily", the OTA they released the other day was intended to address the touch sensitivity/accuracy problems (she wasn't very specific though). Personally, I do think the touch sensitivity has improved a bit. Anyone else have an opinion?
Can anyone test the new update?
I'm using it right now (and have been for a few days). I definitely think touch sensitivity has been improved. Anything else you're wondering about specifically?

hope so,
Mine is on the way, Now I am only concerned with Netflix, It was one of the reason I ordered this.
As freaktech mentioned, you can find various apks (on XDA and on the web) that allow HD Netflix on non-certified devices. I haven't done it on my Hipad yet, but I used these apks to install HD Netflix on an Android box in my living room. Piece of cake (just download and install) and works great.
