why is verizon app asking for supersu permissions? - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

When I clicked on my vzw app I was asked to grant SuperSU....is this normal?

the verizon app has a health check device app built in, and it checks for root.

paypal app requesting super permissions?

im running mikg 1.03 rom. just installed paypal app and i login, then it keeps asking for superuser permissions, then crashes the app.
why would it ask for that? anyone else have that issue?
PayPal asking for root? Hmm that sounds fishy and very weird. I'm using the app on my phone and always have been and its never asked for superuser access. Im running cm7 but it works the same on my rooted gb ota backup also.

Some app's check for root and don't allow certain features to avoid any security issues. Like the blockbuster app in the market. It will ask for root and give you an error message that if your phone is rooted, you can't watch DRM protected titles.
Did you download the official PayPal app? If it's a different one, you may want to uninstall it.
PayPal doesn't need SU permissions for anything, so I'd definitely deny it access. If it's not the official app, I'd uninstall it then change your PayPal password. Sounds super fishy to me.

Be careful man you could get your bank account info stolen if an app gains root permissions; especially an app like PayPal lol.

If you deny these programs SU access, then they shouldn't detect that you're rooted and function normally, amiright?

Nope, wrong actually.... it just doesn't give them SU permissions but they can still tell it's rooted.

Isis and root?

Is it possible to use isis when you are rooted?
Downloaded the app but wouldn't let me install it. Is there a workaround?
Would triangle away work? Anybody know?

I have tested this module on my Note 3. It fails when I attempt to register my Isis wallet, with the error "cross MNO not supported". My guess is that this patch module is VZW-specific, and as such fails on T-Mobile, which is of course a different Mobile Network Operator.

install xposed framework, and then this apk (https://www.dropbox.com/s/46c8p4kpbmhkbeh/com.isis.bypass.root.apk) click install, reboot. go back into exposed and click on modules, and click the one that was installed. reboot. presto! ISIS works
Able to use a different method

I was able to use an Xposed framework tool called "RootCloak" to do the trick. Then I signed up for Isis with a different email address. Evidently, the email address you sign up with is associated to the carrier you are using at the time, so if you switch carriers (e.g. AT&T to VZW, VZW to T-Mobile, etc.) it won't let you use your original Isis account.
Thank you for the information anyway!
its doesn't work on T-mobile Note 3 i tried every step correctly and i'm Not new to android things lets say expert, and on other thread it doesn't says which devices is that for? when i downloaded the ISIS app i included with link it was for Verizon so they need to explain- this is Verizon only..!!? what i didn't tried is unchecked super user. will that work? i did full unroot because i badly wanted to try ISIS and it worked smile on my face. but i want roooot too? will unchecking super user enable work ISIS?
Stock KitKat, rooted, with xposed framework and ISIS root bypass 2.0 on N900t using T-Mobile works fine for me.

Apps Think OPO 5T is Rooted?

I'm trying to run a couple of apps, namely 'My EE' and 'Sky Q' however both these apps must do some sort of root check which my device seems to fail. I haven't done anything with my 5T other than configure it straight out the box. Does anyone else have this issue?
Based in the UK using EE.
so what's wrong with you, go and get root, now anybody can use their phone without it.

Have you tried using an app that checks safetynet? Does it pass? Magisk manager can check safetynet for you (just the app, not the root zip) and you can install it without rooting.

Thanks. Couldn't find Magisk Manager but I just ran Root Checker. The app verifies that my device is Not rooted and also passed the Safety Net compatibility test.

Safety net is Google's most thorough root checker, so if it passes it's probably not an issue with root.
What problem are you having? Does the app launch? Does it tell you you're rooted? Have you adjusted the display size (dpi)? Have you granted it the permissions it needs before launching?

The app launches however the EE app errors straight away saying it looks like my device is rooted.
The Sky Q app let's me browse TV guide and set remote recordings however if I attempt to watch live TV then it tells me I'm unable to do that on rooted devices.
I'm not sure how to adjust dpi? All permissions if any have been granted.

You are a star. SuperSU uninstalled and now they're working.

is there an app to track why an app fails.

I need to use an app over GSM data. It works on WiFi but not GSM.
A colleague uses the same app on a different device and this works on GSM.
Is there a way to trace what fails so can try and resolve it.?

Guess you need root for that? I don't use root as have banking and payment apps that don't work with root(or never used to work when rooted).

Try root via magisk, and use the integrated MagiskHide. It works well covering root to my banking apps.
Or if by "works over wifi but fail over mobile" you mean the network connection, I suggest using ssl capture. No root, it just use VPN.

Using magisk hide will work, I use it.
But it won't work for anything in regards to NFC apps for banking.
however once you're *rooted, you won't be able to download PayPal from the app store, so you'll have to download it from APK mirror
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/paypa...paypal-business-2020-03-23-release/#downloads
*Note card emulators won't work for NFC banking.
ok but will chase bank be downloadable still and work? i used apk extractor to get both off my phone
I will have to do it eventualy but i have to download rom im on so i can patch it?
also i read somewhere after rooting you have to do special key press to reboot phone?
no idea about a key combo startup, but yes you may download them from other all markets. just make sure they are verified and Always read the comments / reviews.
