Hello XDA Team and Member,
first I want to thank for the great Forum here and the Members and Developers too.
I have an issue with mit OneX. When I have a connection with my wifi-repeater mit OneX show me potential Wifi-signal 100% but there is no Internet. The Websites or Apps like Facebook do'snt loading. Connection lost is the message of my OneX. Every other Cellphone, Notebook, PC or IPad is working fine with this repeater (Telekom W100).
My OneX working fine when I go one step to the right and the Wifi-signal comes from my router. Don't know why, but with my Desire, my Sensation and my Wildfire S is no problem like that.
Doesnt find anything in XDA-search or google except a threat at german Telekom-forum... doesnt helped yet. Sorry, my english is horrible.
Please help me
Thank you...
Welcome to forum!
This issue can be tricky to solve. It would seem that One X is confused by repeater and thinks it is router.
You could try to manually assign IP adress from within One X, see if that helps?
Settings > Wifi > longpress on network name -> Modify -> scroll down to Advanced Options -> IP (change from DHCP to static).
Then set gateway and dns to what your main router ip. Good luck
HAWKINS, roxcyc
Thanks for your answer.
Try to change to static but nothing happens. Same problem. This repeater is configurate with wps. The strange thing is that there is no changes of IP or anything when the OneX is change the Wifi conection to the repeater but the sides stops to load and don't loading anytime I connected to the repeater. Try to change from wpa to wep and give a shout about the result...
Hi,
There is another thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26915135
With similar symptoms to the issue you are having. I'm having the same. WEP might help but easy to crack from a security point of view. I have the same issue but only with my WiFi AP at home. In other areas it works fine so I have not been able to find what is causing this. You can try and disable the N radio in your repeater and see if that works too as a poster said in another thread...for me this has not worked but worth a try.

Hi,
try to set off the N mode in my router a week a go. Doesn't help. WEP doesn't work either. Don't have a glue why only my oneX have this prob and all other devices working :-( Try some things more and post the result when it's solved.
Edit: Get a 2nd HOX in a few days... Try that if the isseu is standard with all HOX or only with my. Had try to chance the Radio/ Baseband. Set a fix IP. Nothing helped.
....
Got a new HOX and try to connect with wifi over the repeater... nothing changed, same prob like with the other HOX and two different HOX's from friends of mine. HTC sayed: "All HOX's are busted and have to sent to repair! LOLLLLLL What the fu** ! Been with a HTC since round about 10 years and now I think about a draft.
So problem still NOT fixed!
solved?

Hi, after 4 or 5 months after I post this problem I had been tired to search for a fix and I got a HTC ONE.
So I don't know what it was with the oneX... the one was working fine with the repeater and the one m8 do also!
So I had a HTC One X which was mostly OK, it had the screen flex issue but I decided to live with that, occasionally wouldn't connect to wifi, but did 95% of the time, lived with that also. That got stolen last week ... got a replacement from the insurance company today.
This one, when using DHCP either just loops with 'Obtaining IP Address' or, if using static, it connects to WiFi quickly but then WiFi doesn't actually work. If you open up a browser it starts the connection then just hangs there forever.
On the odd time it does connect via DHCP it does the same, so I'm inclined to think that it's not my Static network settings, but a problem with the device.
Obviously I've read about the hardware issue, but the WiFi connection shows full strength so it doesn't seem exactly like the WiFi power issues that some are experiencing.
I'm running the latest 1.29.x update. I've rebooted my router several times. Restarted the phone several times. Tried a different broadband connection and WiFi router (wouldn't connect at all to that).
Am I missing something or should I sent this thing back to HTC?
Seems like what I had some tine ago. I suggest you get a replacement, as I did

I have that problem when I connect my phone to the hot spot from my pc. With the gs2 it used to work. With this phone it works for the first few minutes then stops working though I have full WLAN shown. With others it works.

Send it for replacement mate ... You don't have to live with that ... It should work out of the box without any modification.
Thanks, I'll return it.
HTC have really dropped the ball with this phone and it's a shame. I've used HTC phones for 7 years (back when they ran Windows Mobile 6 and were branded by HP and others). The quality was always great. They must have rushed the One X to market.
I have the same issue but only at my gf home? Tried every thing but still no luck! I think its related to my router and it could be fixed by buying a different one. But I wont let the damn thing win =p keep trying when I'm at her place, no pass, wep, wpa, wpa2 or b/g/n haha I'm afraid I'm out of options!
If plenty of other devices can connect to a router fine and the HTC One X is the only device that can't, I think it's a fair assumption to blame the phone, not the router.
Called HTC .. "you need to sent it back to the supplier". Almost certain the supplier will tell me to call HTC .. and so it starts.
Slowly it starts to suck more and more. Last night I was in a bar with friends. The bar has wifi. Earlier phones worked fine. I was sitting next to the router. And it didn't work really well. Ended up rebooting phone, just to use a few more minutes wifi before the problem started again. It shouldn't be hardware related, but if this doesn't change with the next updates I really think I'm gonna get another phone. I love this phone though but I don't wanna have trouble with wifi...

I had two phones belonging to the same batch (40 or so numbers inbetween). They were both runnning the same software version. The first behaived like yours does. I spent four nights trying to get it fixed or find an answer. In the end I had it replaced and couldn't be happier. I beliewe it's hardware. Go have it replaced. Good luck!

I'm at the same bar again. So far it's working pretty well. Before I send it back I'm gonna test it more. I bought it from the net and I'm not sure if they would replace it. We'll see thanks for your information.

Any news on this issue? My Wifi worked fine for several weeks after I received my One X, but since end of last week I'm having the same problem as described in the previous posts:
Good or even full signal, but seemingly no data transmission. This happens with all kinds of apps (browser, Play Store, Facebook app, HTC wheather app, ...) and independent from the WLAN I'm connected to (at work, at home, at my parents',...). Previously it worked in the same WLANs without any problem and there haven't been any configuration changes in the phone or on the routers.
The problem doesn't persist. Sometimes it takes several reconnects to make it work, sometimes it works from the beginning. Sometimes I don't even do anything after the problem occured and some minutes later I receive mail via Wifi. Don't know if the phone reconnected automatically in the meantime for some reason, though.
I sent the phone back. New one is coming tomorrow, we'll see if it has the same problem.
Buying Samsung next time. :|
I can hardly believe it is a hardware problem. I mean, it worked fine for more than a month in my case.
Received the new handset .. does exactly the same thing.
I'd be included to think it's my router if I didn't tried so many different devices.
<sigh> Back on the phone to HTC support I guess. One day I'll own a phone that works.
my device has the same problem like this.
did the htc official say it is something wrong about the tegra3 cpu?
Hello everyone , so im experiencing this issue even after i updated my galaxy tab s T-705 to lollipop rom with the wifi settings which is the scanner keep scanning for new networks even tho its connected to my router and cant access any other of those that it finds when it scans for , here is the screenshot so you get a better idea of whats happening " http://i.cubeupload.com/NOGICz.png " i wana know if its normal or not cuz if im not sure that scanning thing could be draining extra battery for no reason , anyone has any idea why this is happening and if there is a way to stop it
I am still on kitkat, so i dont know about lollipop, I think there is a setting to turn off wifi scanning when the tablet is in sleep mode, But I dont know about wifi scanning when already connected already, Is it some type of wifi type of roaming setting, maybe it thinks you are walking around and it`s trying to get a better connection, what is your wifi signal like.

Yep, I'm on Lollipop and am getting the scanning every few seconds even tho I'm perfectly connected to my home network. I don't see any way to turn it off thus far
As i said i am still on kitkat, I just checked my 10.5" and i get SCANNING in the Wifi page every five seconds, so i assume it is normal.

Hi all,
Hope someone is able to help out on this one.
Have this evening received my htc 10 (black version).
The device does almost everything in a stunning fashion in terms of speed, it's crisp it's snappy, damn good device.
However I have been installing my device and working on it (little fb, insta, websurfing) whilst being within 5m reach of my wifi router.
Now it was time to go to bed and went upstairs, this is where the strange stuff started:
The device shows decent wifi signal (3 out of 4 in the indicator) still webpages won't load, fb not showing images and fails loading new stuff, all apps inform the Internet connection fails (still 3 out of 4 is indicated).
When I disable wifi and 4g kicks in it again works like a charm. The second wifi switched on again everything's failing again.
Do any of you experience the same and more importantly how can this be fixed?
Appreciate your input
Thanks in advance Kidkreole

Did you check the settings on the router?
Had similar problems with fb and youtube. Had to change the ipv6 settings to make it work.
Maybe it's not that but trying won't hurt....

Hi Chaki,
Thanks for your swift response.
Can you be more specific what you exactly did Change in the router as to ipv6 settings.
Is it a necessity to have ipv6 properly setup for this phone to function opposed to ipv4 which my HTC M8 did function on without hassle.
Thx in advance

Well i got ipv6 enabled with tunnel protocol 6to4 and the problems were gone.
I am not sure what it's causing the problem with your phone but with enough signal strength not to be able to load the pages....got to be something with the signal itself not the phone. Got to experiment to find what's causing the trouble.
Hope you manage to get behind the problem.

I don't know if there is some weird marshmallow bug, but since my Z3+ has been upgraded I experience exactly the same issue.
I have to keep disconnecting and re-connecting WiFi to keep it working. Full strength shown but no traffic passes.
So it's not a fault specifically with the HTC 10.

Try installing an app from the play store called dnset and activating it. Then test. If your issue is IPv6 related you will probably notice a definite improvement.

So do we just need to disable ipv6 on our routers?
My router supports ipv6, but the ISP doesn't.
Is marshmallow detecting a local ipv6 address, then trying to communicate to the internet via ipv6 and failing or something?
I already have the google DNS servers setup on my router...

I've tried finding the settings for tunneling in my router, however noticed on my MacBook that this specific setting is available on macbook.
Htc unfortunately does not offer this setting.
Hope someone at Google is able to resolve this issue

Hi dottat,
Have tried your suggestion,
Interstingly it resolves the problem for a minute and then you are stuck with the same instable mess.
Have meanwhile tried putting a wifi extender in between > no progress.
This is really frustrating the hell out of me.
When you are close to a router, the htc 10 seems to be able to work blazing fast. (same goes for 4g connection, stunning fast)
Am a little lost now..
Where can I find the tunneling option in the device?

Get it replaced. Similar reports surfaced in Taiwan.

HTC and Samsung have never really had good Wifi reception on their smartphones. They have mostly been on the poor side unless you sit in bed and have a wifi router sitting next your bed or you sit at a desk in an office and the wifi router is on your desk

After oreo update, I have got a problem with WIFI. In my house everything is OK, but when I am at work, mobile phone connect to the wifi, internet works for a couple of minutes and after that, wifi has been marked with
exclamation mark and when I want to turn off wifi, click on the wifi switch and Settings not responding. When I click on wifi in the navigation bar, UI not responding. After that, I have to restart the phone. After the restart, wifi is turned off.
I have got stock oreo(ETL). I tried to root it or restore backups from google play and Samsung cloud but nothing work. Maybe the problem is that in the work we have 5Ghz wifi.
When I revert to stock NUGAT, everything works.
Any idea what could be a problem?
at work do you have 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz with same ssid?

yes
android 7 had issues with that. change ssid of one of them and all problems are gone. Seems that android keeps switching between 2.4 and 5 ghz and connection fails ..

did you mean android 8? Because I have this problem on oreo (8). But I am not allowed to change ssid on the work wifi.
I meant that this error was there in android 7.0. I changed the ssid of 5 ghz and problem was solved. have now 8.0 didnt test it again, but assume issue is the same..

On 7.0 ETL works fine, anyway, I am not allowed to change the ssid in the work so I am not able to use wifi in the work
Same problem
After a standard update of Samsung to Android 8.0 I have exactly the same problem with the Wifi network at work. Before the update everything was ok. The wifi network at work has Phase 2 authentication (MSCHAPV2). Maybe it also has something to do with that. Were you able to fix the problem? If not I would like to revert the update and go back to Android 7, but I don't know how to do that.

I've got the same issue, I didn't find any way to solve it.
There is no option to force the use of 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz in this android version.
I didn't find a app to do it either.
Same here. Following the update, I can use WLAN at home but not at work (exactly the same pattern as described in the initial posting). Very annoying.
I wrote at Samsung support (czech support) and they told me that they don't have reported similar problem .. hm, it looks that the problem is there. Can you contact support too? Maybe, Samsung release the fix for it.
No, I didn't find any solution. But oreo didn't bring me any new feature, on the contrary, some useful features were deleted. Context menu which appears on long press icon doesn't contain app info. Forcing adaptable icon for Google apps is very annoying too because the google apps icons have the ugly border. I don't understand Google, they bring adaptable icons in the oreo but after one year, their icons still have the border.
So I revert to the Nugat which works perfectly for me. (For extending memory, I am using LINK2SD with SanDisk A1 certificated card)
I have the exact same problem. When connected to work wifi network, I get exclamation mark on the wifi icon, then it all freezes, and the phone restarts. In some of those restarts I cannot even type my password to unblock the phone. I also cannot deactivate wifi, when I press the icons the system freezes.
Same problem. Wifi at home no problem. Wifi at work (complex, multi-router, PEAP) is too difficult and phone hangs after showing the exclamation mark for some time.
Is everyone switching back to nougat? to be honest I'm not completely sure what the benefit of Oreo is, the net effect is negative for sure.
Seems to be issues with Oreo! maybe roll back wait

other ROM for A320FL?
An update: A wipe of the cache disk did not work. I don't want to start resetting factory settings as that will cost too much time. The freezing and rebooting really only happens on the PEAP wifi network, containment is to just disable wifi and the phone is working fine. (for me)
Did anyone roll back to nougat? Is that a smooth process?
Are there any other ROMs for this A320FL that people are happy about?
https://www.sammobile.com/2018/06/04/galaxy-a3-2017-update-june-2018-security-patch
So maybe it contains hotfix for this issue.
Can you someone write here whether wifi problem is fixed when you get this update? Thx
I've made a clean install with :
This firmware has version number PDA A320FLXXU2CRE3 and CSC A320FLDBT2CRD4. The operating system of this firmware is Android 8.0.0 , with build date Wed, 30 May 2018 05:37:04 +0000. Security patch date is 2018-06-01, with changelist 13368006.
And it's fixed.
Same problem here. Wifi disconnects and dont automaticaly connect. so I have 4g all the time consuming data.
Only solution is turn off wifi and turn back.
But after a few minutes it´s disconnected again
I have the same problems. I have done a factory reset and also used safe mode. These did not solve the problem.
As with other users, the problem only occurs on my work wifi. As long as I get my phone to never connect to that particular network it works fine. That is not the solution though. We need a patch on the operating system to fix this.
As I told two post upper, the bug is fixed with the patch : Security patch date is 2018-06-01
