Hi! I would like to ask everyone if you got a home button that is not level, that is somewhat slight depressed towards the Left or Right Side? Mine is just like that, though the full-function of the home button is not affected. I noticed that you can actually apply a bit of pressure and the home button will actually move. And there are times that the home button would feel like it wiggle but only very slightly, which is strange to me.
Am I alone or does anyone have the same issue?

Not alone. I feel it randomly as well.
Mine is slightly lower on the right side and if you look at it side on and press it with a nail the whole button depresses. Maybe it was originally designed to press?
I have this as well, I didn't bother RMA'ing my phone as it doesn't bother me almost at all.
No, it's not designed to "press"..
It's happening because either the left or the right side of your glass around the button isn't seating properly to the frame.
Look closely at the button and clamp the glass down against the frame. See how the gap get's smaller?
The way the button is secured in place is the rear of it resting against the internal frame and with the glass on top locking it down in place.

Edit: And if you clamp the glass down, when you release the pressure the glass rises back up again slightly and so does the button thanks to the small amount of adhesive around it. Now the button appears to be level, well it is level with the glass but when you press the button it's going to "fall" back down to the place it belongs: against the frame and appears to not be level but it's the glass that's not level.
What do?
a) deal with it
b) RMA and hope the replacement is better

Ok. So what about it moving/wiggling so slightly at times? I tried leveling the button by applying a little bit of pressure on the other side but it quickly returns back to it's original place, which is slightly depressed towards the right side.
Double Post, sorry

The little plastic bits at each side of the keyboard. I've just noticed them now. They're like the screen protecter film you get on electronic devices. I wonder if they indicate areas of possible wear and tear
Yes ... they are at the rear of the keyboard and on the underside of the screen half as well.
I found with mine that at the back there were a couple of scratches in this plastic indicating that the mechanism was so tight that it did mark. Hard to say what it would be like over time.
Did you check your PM re the screen ?
Also ... can you confirm your tilt is very stiff ... particularly the initial movement ... and that when you push the screen back down, just before it goes flat ... that you get a distinct click like a dislocation ?

Paul, I just got mine today and you are right, the tilt is stiff at the initial movement and it also has a click (mechanical) sound just before it goes flat.
as far as scratches are concerned, there are none that i can see.
however, there seems to be a gap between the keys and the screen panel, so there should be no problem in that area pertaining to scratches or friction.
Any sign of that pinched top surface about 1/2" down from the top as the front surface touches the left chrome edge ?

Well if the screen is facing towards me then this is happening on the right side surface. Also the protector on the right side (of the keyboard) is a bit worn out so may be that is the reason.
Do you think removing the protector (from either sides of keyboard) will result in scratches?
I too have a stiff one. Yes, the tilt. And when I tilt it back again it has a click. I think the phone feels strong and well-made. I'm already happy with it.
Gutted that I screwed up putting the screen protector on.

The left-hand plastic managed to get tangled up in the slide mechanism this morning. Was a bit of a mission to get it out but I'm just gonna get rid of that bit. Will leave the right side on for the time being.
Incidentally, the screen protector in the box is very soft and gets marked really easily!

If you remove one, I would remove the other one too. Otherwise on side of the screen will experience more friction, what can't be good for the ballance.
I knew you lot would get all double entendrey with that post. For the record, I've been playing with it lots all over the weekend and it's not got any softer. Still nice and firm.
Don't. Just don't.
Some M8 phones have the problem of the power button getting stuck in the plastic around it and thus keeping itself pressed.
In this case you see this on the screen: "to restart your phone press and hold the power and volume up buttons for 10 seconds."
OF COURSE you can get this fixed through warranty.
If you don't want to do that cause you don't want to wait, you can do what I did.
(I am not responsible if this doesn't work well for you and I guess that after this procedure they won't replace the button for free anymore)
Steps:
1. Get a flat screwdriver. Heat it over stove, but not until it.s red, just until it is a little hot. It's better to heat it a little, try it, if it doesn't work heat a little more and so on. Otherwise, if it's too hot, when you touch the button it will melt everything around it and way too far into the button.
2. Put the screwdriver on some surface and keep it steady with the end sticking out. Hold the opposite side of the button a little pressed so that the part of the button that catches on the plastic sticks out.
3. Bring the phone towards the screwdriver carefully so that you melt that edge of the power button just a little bit. Just melt the edge, so you give it a slope like this / , not the entire side of the button.
Finally, you should get the same results as you can see in my pics. It's barely visible that the button has been tampered with and for me it's way better than waiting for weeks for the warranty to repair it.
Cheers and be careful not to get that screw driver too hot or too far into the button.
LE: be careful that the IR blaster is on the left side of the button, if you look at the phone from the front. In my case I had to melt the right side which is about 3/4 lengths away from the IR blaster. If you melt the side of the button that has the IR blaster in it, I'm not sure what would happen. The IR blaster should be fine, but the curvature of the button that you add by melting might deflect the light. Not sure.

And your IR is still in order no damage from heat etc?
The IR is fine. It's on the other side of the button. It's about 1/4 th of the button. so 3/4 distance away from the melted part.
Not sure why this is a problem as the button doesn't seem to go far enough in to cause this problem, however it's not something I would do. I would have just got a small thin implement and just added a little Vaseline or Petroleum jelly around the sides of the button, making sure to work it down the sides of the button. That should be enough.

Here is the real question. Why does this suddenly start happening after owning the phone for 2.5 months and it never being dropped. What has changed is I started using the Dot View Case right before this started happening.

I know a bit of a Necro on this thread but I thought I would share my experience since I recently did 2 repairs on N5s (one Black one Red). The 2 LCD+Frames I bought from 2 different sellers had the speaker grill sunk in a bit on the front like the glass is thicker. Also on the Red one the grill was sort of a Metallic Red as opposed to the solid Plastic BRIGHT RED on the original. As for issues I ran into the Power button hole being off causing the button to get stuck and not reset fully. It'll be sunk in after pressing it the first time and be slightly raised from the frame. On the 1st one I had to do the "Button Rattle Fix Mod" to get it to seat repeatedly but that still wasn't quite right. On the Red one I fixed I had the same issue with the Power Button and I figured out what was causing the issue. It's actually 2 things: the opening height was just a slight bit smaller than the button itself and caused it to stick in the pressed position and also the seat was raised causing the button to become dislocated in an angular position. Once I figured this out I shave a very TINY fraction of the plastic away from those effected areas and BAM it works like it was an OEM one. As for the Grill I don't know how to fix that other than lifting the Glass from the Frame and I seriously don't want to do that.
I have the Black one (The 1st one I did coming back to me so I'll see if I can post a Vid of the effected areas.

Glad you got it fixed. As for the Power button Yeah that is the same issue I was having. See if you can trim a very tiny amount off the long edges of the hole. That should take care of it. I think it's a common manufacturing defect on the generic ones. Even if you got it from the UK chances are they got a bulk amount from China and just resell them. My black one I ordered was that way as the seller was definitely in the US. But both had the same problems.
Where did u get it from? Link and price if possible please. And was there black available?

Hi,
I have just bought a Pixel C tablet. At first sight, the tablet was really sturdy.
However, when I tested the tablet a little bit more thorough, I experienced some problems with the housing and I was wondering if the rest of you have the same issues.
When holding the tablet in landscape mode:
-You can press in the housing around the upper left corner
-You can press in the housing around the front cam
-You can press in the housing beween the left side and the center and bottom and the center
I find this really disappointing. Can anybody confirm this or am I the only one with these issues.
Mine does the same on the left around the middle of the screen emitting an audible click.
I don't have these issues. However the middle of my screen has a bit of flex when pressing hard.
Yep, brand new Pixel C from google, just got it today. If I press in just below or on the camera, you can hear some clicking. Like glue sticking. Can see that becoming annoying as you hold the right side, since it makes the noise every time. Other than screen issues, the rest appears to be solid. But when you get to a high price point such as this, you can only ignore so much.
Its been 1 week since i bought my s9, and it's buttons started to wiggle a bit. Is it normal?
I used the case that comes with in the box.
You must have gotten a special package or deal from Samsung, because most people around the world do not get cases included with the phone. I mean, look at the S9 box and how it is packed; everything is very densely fit in the packaging. There's no room to add a case.
On my S9+ the buttons do also wiggle a tiny bit. Not so much that you'd ever be able to actually see them wiggling, but just when I slide a finger over the volume button or power button, I can feel them shift a tiny amount under my finger. It doesn't worry me though; there's another button underneath the button we see in the casing that actually activates the function; what you're feeling (probably) is just the tiny gap between the case button, and the functional button under it.
I mean, is this your first smartphone? This wiggle I'm feeling on the S9 is the same as what I felt on my S8 and S7. But perhaps you're coming from another phone creator that has slightly different feeling buttons.
