I remained on my Note4 for the time being. But I don't think I can wait one whole year for the Note8. One, my phone may not last that long. Two there is competition out there already surpasing the Note7 in some aspects. Three I think people like to change phones as their contracts expire, which was a probably while ago now for many. The question is though CAN they make it happen sooner. They still supposedly don't know the cause of Note7 failure so time does not seem to be on their side. Which, for me at least, sucks. Note7 is just too expencive for me with all the downsides. So unless Samsung does something soon, I can see a lot of people turning away after some time.
I don't think Samsung can afford to rush it. Look what happened with the Note 7. If they rush the 8 and have similar issues that would be catastrophic. I thought I read they were aiming for summer time launch for the note 8,and February for the S8. Loved my note 7 so very interested in how they'll handle the next 8. After two very expensive recalls on the N7, I truly hope they can make sure the 8 comes out successful.

Wow you have impressive patient! I'm still on the Note7 trying to hold out to see if Canada adopts the 50 percent discount on the Note8 like Korea is doing, but it looks like I'm liking the Xiaomi Mi MIX more and more everyday.
I also think Samsung needs to take their time with releasing future devices and not get ahead of them self just to beat the competition.
I am pretty sure I have no patient and I don't have much patience . Likenthey say, 6 months is already eternity in tech world. I am afraid Samsung will loose battle with time if they don't hurry up . I am simply not interested in a device s7 with such a small screen to be tied to for 2 years.
Honestly speaking, the Note 7 didn't feel like a rushed product to me.
Everything feels good, the software was solid, the features were outstanding.
I'm a firm believer now that the exploding batteries was due to a design flaw of the phone itself, and not defective batteries. And that it was something not easy to identify during testing phase.
I hope Samsung will be honest and forthcoming with their investigation reports and then draw out what preventive measure they have in place to prevent this from happening again.
Yes so I think they don't have to quite make a foldable phone yet (I would not buy it anyway hahaha), but they need to make a better version of Note7. More ram, bigger battery, better screen to bezel ratio with keeping ip68 and design would be enough for me. But if it was fast enough. If not there are at least 2 phones competing even now.
I also think they should reach a firm cause of Note7 disaster and make sure they make it right. But they are professionals, they can't take forever doing it. People won't wait that long. They owe it to us to work well and swiftly, otherwise they may as well give up in the phone making alltogether.
Samsung shouldn't hurry with Note 8. They should take their time to make the best phone ever so that people cannot refuse buying it.
Hurrying is what got Samsung in trouble in the first place. Repeating such a mistake would be... well, idiotic, for them.
For consumers, there's also a silver lining - this gives room to some other company to step up to the plate and knock it out of the park.

Samsung has a history of making good mobiles. If I am not mistaken they have produced more mobile phones than any other brand to date? Why would you think Samsung could or may botch up the Note 8? There proven test record clearly shows they are expert at what they do.
I have every confidence the Note 8 will be another marvel of technology as all previous Samsung phones have been. This episode with the Note 7 is not about mass problems its the prevention or possible prevention. If we exaggerate the number of known failed Note 7 by 100% this still makes the note 7 have a failure rate of about 100 out of 3.5 million. Now apply the math to all the Samsung phones out there and the possibility of the Note 8 being a lemon is so Infinitesimal it cant be recorded.
Ryland
If Samsung make me eat my words I shall kick the cat! :silly:
The problem is however that the media will be keeping an extra sharp eye on a new Note, even if they have like 5-10 failures among those many millions, it will be all over the news again.
They should take their time, solve the issue of the Note 7 if they haven't done so already and make sure it doesn't happen again. I'd rather see them wait an extra month and make sure they did it right the first time, than to see them release the new Note a month early only to have issues again.
Samsung should address the issue head and not treat this whole episode lightly.
They got away with a tongue-in-cheek humour when they highlighted the Note 7 S-Pen doesn't fit in backwards, an obvious jab at their Note 5's flaw. But they can't apply the same technique with the battery.
I remember a few years ago, when the Sony Playstation Network was hacked and the whole network was down for a month, then President and CEO of Sony Entertainment America started the E3 conference addressing the incident, issue an apology and rolled out compensation for its customers, before proceeding with their usual gaming stuff.
Back then, I was very indifferent with PlayStation. But after that, I was impressed at how they addressed this.
Samsung should do something similar before launching their next flagship, assuming it's the Galaxy S8 in Q1 2017. Hold a conference, address the issue, offer an apology, introduce the S8 with the prevention measures they've taken from their Note 7's investigation. That's the least they should do without joking about it to restore confidence.
Well, I for one hope this roumor is close to reality. I definately think Samsung can do it. They are professionals and of course they were not able to resolve matters in two weeks, but a couple of months should be enough! But I suppose you guys are all against it, right? Maybe cause you kept Note7s and can't upgrade so soon? just kidding. Anyway, this says Note 8 could be anounced Q1 2017:
http://www.inquisitr.com/3661760/sa...-in-january-analyst-says/#546p4XTLB5O1X1ER.99
With how much profit the lost over the Note7 failure, I don't think they can aford to wait. S8 won't sustain them for long. Personally, I will wait until more news in January. Then I will have to decide what to do. I may have to go for Huawei Mate 9.
I think they should release the Note8 before the S8 or S8E. It is unfinished business that should be addressed before they move forward expecting confidence from their customers.

I see myself in line for it as well. I just think Samsung could really make a statement and take the Goliath stance by hammering out the Note8 first next year. Just to prove who is boss....
January? I highly doubt so. Samsung is still in the midst of containing the mess. They still need to convince people to surrender their Note 7.
I don't see the Note 8 announcement in January. S8 maybe, but Note 8.
Anouncment doesn't mean beginning of sales. By March it could be done. I hope it will be. Yeah, so glad to see people wanting an early release as well.
I'll be the 2nd quarter at least and probably near the end of the quarter, would be nice not having to wait that long, feckin waited for the Note 5 that was a disapointment so didn't get that and then waiting for Note 7 which was recalled before it was really on the market here

Well, speaking for myself, the only way for them to get me, personally, to surrender my Note7 is to do exactly that. Release the Note8.

As many are hearing, the Note 7 production has stopped. Reports of the line being axed have surfaced and trending on major news site, the BBC has this to say:
Samsung said it has stopped making Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to consumer safety concerns.
The company is expected to permanently end selling the device, a person familiar with the matter said.
Samsung did not comment further.
Assuming the Note 7 is indeed axed, what do you think this means for the Stylus?
My opinion is that Samsung will steer clear of anything Noteesque for quite some time, size aside, something that makes a Note is of course the Stylus, is it likely to die with Samsung? Interested to hear your thoughts...
They will already be too invested in note 8 to kill it as well. They have already gotten patents for components in it, and expected release as early as 3/2017.
Problem is, the Note 4 (only second hand) and 5 (only grey import) also aren't available anymore, so if my Note 3 would die now, I have nothing to replace it with.
I don't agree that they will stay away from the Note platform. That would be handing lots of sales over to other makers, as I'm sure many stick with Samsung for the stylus in a Note sized product. I do hope the next one is a polished, finished product, though.
Would you agree that many buy the Note 7 regardless of the Stylus? I appreciate many buy for the feature, but I have seen so many people on XDA saying they can switch easily to a different device because they simply bought the Note 7 for the spec.
If those same people are a large part of the user base (Samsung would know I guess by Stylus usage statistics perhaps?) then launching a larger than the S7 Edge device under a different name could bode well for them?
It could be that nearly all Note users buy for the stylus, I'm just putting it out there.
I have no idea on how many don't use the stylus. Certainly if someone does not use it, it'd be easy to make different choices. But I don't really see the stylus as the issue here. It's the battery.
What to do now? S7E - don't rly like it after touching the NOTE7. Wait for S8 is too long for me. I still use S4 that is dead (at least battery is new) lol. Other brands don't have good camera like N7 or S7E... Not to start talking about accessorys i bought for N7....

They used that stylus-statistic to slide the S6Edge+ down our throats and not bring the Note 5 to Europe. The S6E+ tanked and is now being sold with 200+ euro discounts to get rid of excisting stocks.
The Note series is the only phone with stylus. You have nowhere else to go. So switching now is an option, since there are zero new stylus phones on the market at the moment.
I hope they do not kill the stylus.
I love the stylus specially when i am at college.
It allows me to write notes or draw sketches and memes and i am arch student. To me a phone without a stylus looks awkard.. They propably will change name of the note brand by next year or dit h the stylus i hope the later does not happen.

Still on Note 4. I think that I have used the stylus once. I keep forgetting it's even there. I bought the Note 4 because it is a good, large, solid phone with a big screen and a REMOVABLE BATTERY. That's the reason that I never went to the Note 5 or Note 7. There are two Note 4s in my family that are just under two years old. I've already had to replace the battery in one because of it not holding a charge, boot loops, etc. To me, the Note 7 was the best of the sealed phones and the only one that I would even bother considering.
What? you thought that for years, people bought a Note just because it has a slightly bigger screen than the S series?
The stylus IS the Note. It's the reason why Samsung had 2 Flagship phones instead of 1. Dude, the Stylus is here to stay, period.

I don't think they'll let it die. Let some time pass, bring it out again and maybe even find a new name for it, that's it.
People forget fast anyway, you can watch that in politics every day...
What do you think would happen if that problem arose with a Galaxy S phone? No galaxies any more?
TL;DR: Samsung is a monstrosity of a company. It's for sure a big inconvenience for them, but it won't break their neck and influence them too much.
Think of what would happen if that same thing happened to LG...
And you can be quite sure that all future Samsung phones will be non-exploding a f

I would not be surprised if they do this in all honesty, think of the money they would have saved if it was removable.
LG V20 is proof that you can make a phone stylish while still having a removable battery.
Waterproofing to me is a gimmick, I don't use phones in the tub or drop them in the toilet. It's pointless gimmick outside of those that might use it on boating trips and to take pictures under water.
As far as investing in a Samsung phone in the future why not? People don't get it when companies screw up like this they will work much harder to make sure this doesn't happen again. It's not like all of a sudden all future phones they make become improvised explosive devices.

Well, if there is no freebie involved, I won't be pre-ordering at full price anyway. I usually buy when there is some nice incentive to be had.
But the next Samsung Flagship will be the 5.0-5.5" range S8 (edge), probably with annoying SD 830. So I think I'll pass again.
I'm not pre-ordering anything anymore.
Also, Sammy was my preferred Android vendor. They've lost that status with me.
I'll consider future Samsung phones, but I will have pause due to this.

I think I'm done with Samsung. How can they mess up twice on their flagship phone. They might not even know why the phones are catching fire. How can I trust them again that the next phone I buy from them won't have some defect?
The hassle in setting up a new phone is bad enough. But I'm sure most of us have bought cases and screen protectors already. I even ordered mine from Amazon and I paid a lot to ship it to the Philippines.

2-3 months depending on how the reviews are but no less than 2 months. Of course this is also dependant on whether I buy a new phone this year to replace the Note 7 because I can't afford to buy a phone every year since I like to travel and buy other gadgets and such, nor do I see a need to do so. I'm good every 2 years at minimum but 3 years even works fine. Currently debating the overpriced Pixel XL (lack of micro sd sucks but unlimited full size picture storage helps alleviate that a little bit and just buy the 128GB) or the LG V20 since it will be the first to work with Wind's upcoming LTE band-66. Decisions decisions.
When you consider the range of really premium top rated products Samsung has launched over the past few years, why people are turning their backs on them now because of this, astounds me! The Note 7 is still a beautiful phone. It had an issue that could have happened to any other device out there whoever manufactured it . Look at the S7 line it's also stellar. The Gear VR and their smartwatches. And the S8 rumours point to something very innovative and unique on the way next year. So why cut your nose off to spite your face? You can't deny they have made some damn good phones.
They tried to fix the problem with the Note 7 and they eventually stopped production to do what was right for most people. Give them some credit. Stop playing into the hands of the media and the Apple fanboys, intent on bringing Samsung down. They certainly deserve another go.
Yet, after all those years, they can't make a phone that doesn't overheat (or lag for that matter). The focus is on the battery now, but that wasn't the only fault with the N7. I'm still mighty pissed of there is no flat version and that we are getting ignored in Europe most of the time. There is no high-end Samsung with a flat screen larger than 5,1"...
I'd wait about a couple of months, but I tend to do that with everything I buy... early adopting is not for me.
Will buy next flagship Samsung ASAP.... hopefully it will come with a Stylus but nonetheless i will buy and for the time being i m buying J7 prime or A8
I'm pre ordering the s8. I don't care what anyone says but the note 7 is the best phone of 2016. It's a shame it had to go out like that. I think Samsung did the right thing and I'm still down with them. For now...

I voted for several weeks, but in reality it will totally depend on the situation. I cannot really answer with the options given.
I am not sure what I will do next, and I don't really want to go with an S if they're like the S7 or S7 Edge. My wife and I had both of those during the two week we waited for the Note 7 replacement and, well, for various reasons we didn't like them. If they come out with something like a Note, I may very well do a pre-order as soon as we're able to. But, again, it will totally depend on the situation. I may also wait some weeks or even months, or never even going back to Samsung if I find a phone that I like (so far, little chance for that, I'm going back to my Note 4 once I return my Note 7). I'm willing to take a look elsewhere, like the LG V20 or the Google Pixel XL, and if I like what I have with those, then Samsung wont see me back for some time.
I think for me, in reality, my decision will have little to do with what happened to the Note 7, but it's more like the total package. I fully realize this could've happened with any phone, just so happen to be this one. I don't mind going back to Samsung, but right now they don't have what I want, and when they do, I may not want to go back if I'm satisfied with something else.
From a news article... They might not even know what caused this. Who's to say future phones won't have the same problem
When several Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones spontaneously exploded in August, the South Korean company went into overdrive. It urged hundreds of employees to quickly diagnose the problem.
None were able to get a phone to explode. Samsung’s engineers, on a tight deadline, initially concluded the defect was caused by faulty batteries from one of the company’s suppliers. Samsung, which announced a recall of the Note 7 devices in September, decided to continue shipping new Galaxy Note 7s containing batteries from a different supplier.
The solution failed. Reports soon surfaced that some of the replacement devices were blowing up too. Company engineers went back to the drawing board, according to a person briefed on the test process who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the internal workings were confidential. As of this week, Samsung’s testers were still unable to reproduce the explosions.

I wonder how reliable is that inside information.
Just wondering who here is keeping the note 7 and taking the risk of it exploding? I'm happy to keep mine though little annoyed that they've stopped gear VR support and I'm 80% certain Samsung will eventually force us all to return the note 7 by maybe a software update that renders the phone useless.
I honestly have no idea what phone I'd get, I had the S7 edge as a temporary replacement phone while the recall was going on and it didn't feel as good as the note 7, the software wasn't as good and I missed the little features like the swipe gesture in the camera app for example. I still have my note 4 but it uses a different sim card so will have to get an adaptor but even then the note 4 seems really out dated in comparison but I get to keep the S-pen which is the biggest reason I got a note device in the first place. I also have a gear s2 smart watch and while it should work with other android phones it's just works better with a Samsung phone. I hope Samsung do something quick maybe release a note 8 and replace the note 7s with it lol there's just no alternatives.
What are you doing with your note 7?

Hanging on to it for as long as I possibly can. If the deadline for a replacement or refund is midnight on 31st December, I'll hand it in on 31st December.
Is a p**s take though like what about people who've brought cases for the note 7 and other accessories? I purchased my gear vr from ebay for £80 as the seller had it with the note 7 but didn't want it and I couldn't seem to find it anywhere online or in shops probably due to the recall. I had the S7 edge at the time so could still use it but now they've cut off note 7 support so I no longer can use my gear VR so I'd at least like to know exactly what's going on so I can possibly see about selling it. Add on top the money I've spent on apps which I can no long use on the gear VR it's just ridiculous. I personally wouldn't mind waiting through another recall as long as I get to keep and use the note 7 I have then just swap it for a new and hopefully completely safe note 7 but looks like the note 7 is done for.
I'm keeping mine. I will treasure it even more now knowing once it's gone, it's gone forever. Now I need to figure out a way getting rid of the 60% charging cap. I love this phone so much!

I did notice in my VZW account that my Note 7 now says "Upgrade Eligible". This wasn't there yesterday. Something on the back end happened.
At minimum, I'm going to deactivate this device and put an old phone on the account for now.

So my question is this, Nougat won't be released for the N7 I suppose, what is the true lifespan of the phone with updates not being released for it? And of course, there is the explosion possibility?

Personally - and you have to make up your own mind on this - I am not even 0.000000000001 % bothered about the "explosion risk". You have about as much chance of winning Euromillions tonight, and in my view, that is no basis to reject a piece of equipment.
The lack of updates and also dismal resale value is much more concerning.
But worse than any of that, I think Samsung will send out an update that cripples the phone. They did it with Rev.1. so I have no reason to assume they won't do the same with Rev.2. Your choice to keep it may very well be taken out of your hands, which personally, I think is disgusting.

Yeah, I'm back on my OG HTC One, lol. So far 1 hour on the phone with Samsung and everyone is clueless. About to hang up and just hit VZW again in a day or two. I have to say, though, it's irritating to be paying on a device that is powered down and not activated on my line (Edge financing).
Time to cut loses. Thats what samsung did. The phone hase become a liability. Get your money back if you can.

Why don't you just use it? Seriously there's been like 8 with problems out of what, 2 million, 3 million? Seriously you have more chance of being run over than having a problem with the device.
The thing with statistics is they can be unintuitive and lead to strange conclusions. Let's say one phone in every 500,000 is going to develop a fault and catch fire. From Samsung's perspective, that means they can be certain they will have lots of unhappy customers, potential lawsuits and bad publicity and therefore it's a bit of a no-brainer to stop selling it.
But from your perspective, you have a 500,000:1 on chance that your phone will have no problems. And in the remotely unlikely event that it does, how likely is it to kill you, burn your house down or anything like that. Even less likely. There are ZERO such reports.
So it's up to you, but for me, it's a no brainer to keep using it, and I hope Samsung will respect that point of view and not cripple our phones with some unnecessary and unwanted forced update.

Yeah I agree I'm not so much concerned about the explosion risk but just the lack of support and updates in the future. Wish they'd just let us take the risk I for one wouldn't sue Samsung if my note 7 does explode there's little chance that you haven't heard about the issues from somewhere therefore it's not Samsung's fault that I took the risk.
What did samsung do with the phone after they recalled it, if they didn't fix the issue?
Samsung UK web site has no mention of recall for v2.
Doing nothing until Samsung (who I bought it from) contact me. Even then it won't be going back until it's knocked out by Samsung.

Indeed. Just looking it up now, you are 500 times more likely to die from riding a motorbike than you are to have a fire with your Note 7. (Assuming 1 phone per 500,000 has a problem.)
best buy exchanged mine out with no questions asked. I was told to even keep the 256GB SD card. unfortunate I went to the dark side and got iphone7 plus. The LG was just cheap and I was unimpressed. Buying the Google Pixel XL outright to bring over to Sprint was not a option for me. I am done with Sammy with all the issues I have had with there products since the Note 4 and other house hold appliances. Iphone was my only option.
After going through stages of grieving lol, there is just no other phone out there for me to get right now. Not even close.
What/when will Samsung do to replace the Note 7?
I'd still like a phone just like Note 7. Add bigger ram. I won't go into battery details, just make one that doesn't bloody explode
Keep the Coral Blue, it is amazing color (no other phone has it, Google Pixel only comes close and only on the back of the phone)! Keep waterproof, it was great not having to worry about water at the swimming training!! I am sure you can do it.
Make it soon.
Make it an exchangeable battery again. What a difference that would make right about now, eh?

It is unlikely that they will produce any phone to replace the Note 7. We will likely have to wait until next August to know what will happen. Also, they will likely end the Note line and call it something else. I'm sure by the end of October we will have more information.
Hopefuly. Call it Style or something (so it is not stylus). As long as it is still basically the same product.

end the note line call it something else ? they did mess up the recall but i doubt they will rename it , note name just represents what note series about
they will do nothing. Now will sell as much as possible S7 and S7E and when S8 comes they will just release it with note 7 body and new hardware... Thats why I rly don't want to get S7E... But you always can resell them :/
I have no idea, the battery in my iCrystalball just caught fire.
It appears Samsung don't yet understand this situation. Until they do they will not release any replacement for the Note 7. I don't think Samsung mobile division could take another hit like this. I suspect many staff at Samsung are having sleepless nights over this.

The s8 will come Q1 of next year. There won't be a new note or its variant until next August. They need a flagship phone to compete with iPhone which releases around that time. Their cycle of 2 flagships a year is perfect. They won't change that. They certainly won't have the note 8 compete with its sibling s8
Damn, just realised I miss Always on display. Didn't realise I have gotten so used t nit. Do you think they could give updates for N4 and N5 to make it more N7 like? Apps for Always on drain my battery like crazy.
Well, SOMETHING will be going on at least:

The Note will reemerge
Hi Y'all
I'm quite sure Samsung will keep on producing a phone with a pessure sensitive stylus.
Apart from this unfortunate incident, the Note series has been selling like hotcakes.
They singlehandedly started the "Phablet" category.
The Note crowd chose it for a reason.
I'm currently running Note 3 and Note Pro 12.2.
If i can't get a new Note there's no reason to stick with Samsung.
The Note series is the one and only "Native" pressure sensitive solution in -droid country.
I'm not even sure there is an aftermarket solution.
As far as tablets go - the Ipad pro is the only other viable solution - And that means switching ecosystem and spending a fortune in apps.
I haven't come across any bluetooth stylii that came even close to the S-pen. I do a lot of technical drawing. I NEED a quick working stylus.
A 12.2" version of the Note 7 (Well - without the exploding battery of course ) would get my pre order in nanoseconds.
Perhaps it'll get a new name (how about Galaxy Scribe ?)
Regards
Elo
TL-DR : No way they are canceling or renaming the note line. Note 8 will be more of the usual. Note 9 is going to be a game changer using new battery tech.
Every other post on any note 7 forum has been "there is no replacement for the note line." There is no way they will rename, or flat out cancel the note line. The brand loyalty is to strong.
The Note 8 will be a higher spec version of the S8, with the normal Note goodies. I don't think the Note 8 is going to be anything revolutionary including something new on par to the iris scanner or waterproofing. More memory, faster processor, the normal upgrades from the previous years model.
The Note 9, on the other hand, is going to blow the lid off the market in one major area. Battery. I see Sammy using it's muscle in available finances and r&d to bring to market one of these new batteries the dozens of companies around the world have been working on over the past how ever many years. I'd be watching the battery industry and wait to hear about potential big value purchases of these companies by Samsung.
Think about it. What has been the one sore spot industry wide? Battery. Samsung certainly has a reason to push this now, and it would be the one feature that would truly attack Apple.

One small flaw in your statement... The Note 8.0 came out in 2013. Logically, they'd already have planned on changing the Note name on the next release similar to how Google dropped the Nexus name on what would have been the Nexus 7 (since there was already two nexus 7 models in 2012 and 2013).
The form factor may live on but the "Note" name is dead and buried.

It means bad journalism. Are they claiming there were 23 new "fires" since the first recall so therefore those were all replacement Note 7s? That's a ridiculous assumption.

I see what you are saying about the Note 8.0 and agree with you. That info being laid out, I can see them changing the name of line. Not because of the explosion issue, but because they already used 8.
Regardless of the name, I still stand by what I said about the battery.

Sorry but I beg to differ.. Tab Note 8.0 will not be confuse with Galaxy Note 8. And 8 to Asians rhymes with Wealth. And it is look upon as a auspicious number. I'm sure they will use it.
But to me personally, it doesn't matter. I'm getting because of the function a hardware provides... not the name.
Sorry.. my bad. After reading carefully.. probably the number will still stays but the name Note may or may not..
Stick an S Pen up the bigger S8's arse. Scrap the note, and embed its functionality into the S edge series.
So here is the thing. People claim that their notes "caught on fire". Both the original and replacements. Have these people sent all of their phones back to Samsung for inspection? If I just say that my note caught on fire and provide no proof, do they still count his as a case? This whole fiasco seems very odd to me. It is not like companies like apple have not tried stuffing the most battery in a phone before. Plus, does anybody really know how these people who have proven cases were using their phones?
I mean, we all know that every phone is not perfect and a few are going to have these issues. Samsung supposively cannot replicate this issue. The fact that the Note 7 beat the iphone to the punch and was a real threat to their 7 plus just seems a bit strange to me that all of a sudden this was going on.
I will do my due diligence and check out the pixel and the V20, but if either does not meet what I want, I am keeping my note. Samsung washers have reportedly "exploded" too, but I still use it and there has not been a recall.
You shouldn't take things so personally, as if Samsung is going to kill you or mangle you if you don't return that damned Note 7. The right thing to do is return it, if you can't see that then that's your problem but know if you don't return it and something actually does happen - you get injured in some manner or someone else does, or property gets damaged in some manner - you're on your own and you have no legal recourse to sue Samsung or anyone else now that the worldwide recall is official.
You and many others like you can ramble on with post after post after post about how Samsung is at fault (they know it), how bad this is for Samsung (they know it), that people will miss the Note products from Samsung (they know it), that Samsung should do something to fix things (they know it and they're working on it and it's costing them billions to do so), and how pissed you and others are about this whole fiasco (they know it).
We all know it, things happen, mistakes happen, sometimes it all goes wrong and nothing can be done to curtail that until AFTER it's happened which is the case here with the Note 7.
What's done is done, get over it. Return the device, get the refund, move on, because anything else is just whining.
The problem I have.....
I just signed up for a 2 yr payment plan for the phone...have had it 2 weeks now I need to swap it for another phone... THERE IS NO OTHER PHONE that can match the Note 7 other then maybe the S7edge.....but that phone has been out since march and now I'll have it for another 2 years!!!
So my upgrade just got really downgraded for 2 years!!

Do we actually have any real proof of what is actually going on with the phone and why this is happening? Like i said, I will do my due diligence and take a look at other options. But this whole thing stinks of apple having their hand in this. They have no innovations since who knows when and Samsung was pretty much beating them in everything.

Except actual sales.
As for the rest of what you said, Samsung is currently conducting their internal investigation and that will take as long as it takes. If and when they do reach a conclusion and discover what caused the issues with the Note 7 that eventually prompted the worldwide recall they will make a public statement.
Until that actual public statement appears on a Samsung official website (based on countries, as in there's a Korean site, a US site, a Canadian site, a UK site, etc) then pretty much everything you hear, read, or see can be considered speculative conjecture at best.
There can be some actually logical speculative conjecture in some degrees because Li-Ion batteries work in predictable and very well known ways - the issue here is what's causing them to end up in runaway conditions aka burning up and sometimes exploding. It could be a charging issue, it could be an issue with the thermal limitations being exceeded, it could be an issue with pressure on the battery inside the device once it's all closed up caused by the construction of the device itself, it could be any additional pressure exerted on the already compressed battery by outside forces (bending, punctures, sitting down with a Note 7 in a pocket especially a back pocket), and so on.
We don't know anything for 100% actual fact at this point except to say that some Note 7 devices have catastrophically failed and enough of them have failed to cause Samsung to issue the worldwide recall.
All that matters is that the recall is in place and that the devices should be returned for exchange with another device (not a Note 7 of course) or a refund of the purchase price.
Anything else is just babbling from idiots.

Any reason why you are taking this so personal and calling people names? Must be a Hillary supporter....
You think humans in general aren't idiotic and stupid more often than not?
Seriously?
Has there been one single case of me naming and calling out any specific member here and saying "Hey, <member name, you're a stupid person..." or anything of that nature, or are you just taking my belief that people in general are stupid and my pointing that out in general (without naming specific people) at times is a problem for someone in specific 'cause I don't see any actual proof of that happening.
Pretty sure that there are more Samsung phones worldwide than Apple. I know for a fact there are WAY more android phones worldwide - over 70% of the market share, if not more. So I guess it depends on what your definition is in "beating them in sales".
OK, I just looked it up. In 2016, Samsung has 22.8% of the phones world wide. Apple has 11.7%. So Samsung has about twice the amount of phones selling as Apple. 87.6% of the phones world wide are Android BTW.
We're talking about the Note 7, not every Android-based smartphone on the market today and especially not every Samsung smartphone on the market today either.
In terms of sales, the amount of Note 7 devices sold since release in August 2016 was a drop in the bucket in terms of worldwide sales compared to the iPhone 7 or even the iPhone 7 Plus just a week or two after they were released - hell, the iPhone 7/7 Plus probably had more pre-orders than the Note 7 sold physical units of.

In a previous post you said Apple was beating Samsung in sales. That is categorically untrue. Now you are backtracking. Samsung has more than just 2 phones they offer. But that doesn't matter. The phones they DO offer, they sell twice as many of them a year than the two phones Apple does offer (and remember, it wasn't long ago Apple scoffed at the idea that they would need to offer more than one device, or a larger display device at all).
We all know this discussion is on the Note 7. You threw in a quip that was inclusive of more than the Note 7 as a "gotcha", but a gotcha that wasn't at all accurate to the actual statistical sales data. What was your point? The same as your point in typing thousands of words in many posts on a Note 7 forum when you don't even own a Note 7 and never did. Pointless.
The Note 7 is basically Samsung's flagship device to compete directly with the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, is that really in dispute? And at this moment in time, there have been more iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus units sold worldwide than there have been Note 7 units sold worldwide, by a fairly large margin. In probable fact, there were more iPhone 7 sales than the Note 7 and there were more iPhone 7 Plus sales than the Note 7 when taken as individual devices even though they were released at the same time - that means the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus being released at the same time in September, not the Note 7 which was released in August.
That's all I said, twice now.
You said Apple is beating Samsung in sales. Which is not even remotely true. So now you want to backtrack and single onto one device and make the same claim. And FYI, in 2015, Samsung sold more phones than Apple in Q4, which is usually when Apple does the best as they release the new Ifones in Q4. As I mentioned in a previous post, Samsung sells almost twice as many phones a year as Apple.
No one is debating Apple sells a lot of ifones. Especially in the US. But you might as well acknowledge that they actually don't sell more phones than Samsung, not even close. Unless you want to tweak the stats to just one phone for Samsung, of which they offer several different devices. No one says they only have to offer one or two different models. IDC if Apple sells more or Samsung sells more - that never had anything to do with any of this anyway, but you had to make your quip about it as if it does.
